A paparazzo accused of attempting to eavesdrop on Nicole Kidman at her home in Sydney, Australia, has had all charges against him dropped. Photographer Jamie Fawcett, 41, was charged in January 2005 with possession and use of a listening device after he was found allegedly planting the bug outside the Moulin Rouge star's mansion. He was accused by local authorities of attempting to listen in on conversations between Kidman's security guards, but Fawcett claimed he was being "unfairly targeted" because of his profession and appealed to the New South Wales state Supreme Court. They ruled that there was no evidence he had violated any law and on Thursday the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew the charges without further explanation. Speaking outside the courthouse, Fawcett said, "It was a very narrow investigation that once again targeted the photographers at a scene and I felt that was perhaps unfair. I am often asked about the feud between Miss Kidman and myself. In fact, I don't have any opinion whatsoever about Miss Kidman, other than to wish her all the best." Kidman was not directly involved in the case and refused to comment on the ruling. Her spokesperson, Wendy Day, says, "It has nothing to do with Nicole. That was something to do between the DPP and Jamie Fawcett." This is not the first time Fawcett has been in trouble with the law over Kidman - in 2005 the movie star won a temporary restraining order against the photographer and another paparazzo, before reaching to an out-of-court agreement to keep away from her home.

Nicole Kidman is furious with a film critic for writing a unauthorized biography on her after only having one brief phone chat with her. The Moulin Rouge star was shocked when she found out David Thomson was writing a book and was unaware her short interview would be exploited in the form of an explosive biography. Kidman claims she was deceived by the author, who told her he was writing a series of articles on several different films. According to Kidman's publicist, Wendy Day, "Nicole has never met David Thomson. She has only spoken to him briefly on the phone about her acting processes and various films. He's a well-respected film writer and she accepted the interview only because she was under the impression he was writing a series of film essays." The book, entitled Nicole Kidman, hit bookstores in the US this week and paints a picture of the actress as a power-hungry fame seeker who used her 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise to hit the big time in Hollywood. The biography also claims the star is too self-obsessed to give herself to a husband. Kidman married country star Keith Urban in June. Thomson even goes as far as to suggest Stanley Kubrick's 1999 thriller Eyes Wide Shut ended Cruise and Kidman's marriage because it mirrored their off-screen relationship too closely. Kidman has not yet announced legal action against Thomson, who in his previous book, The Whole Equation: A History Of Hollywood, confessed to having a huge crush on her.

Moulin Rouge star Nicole Kidman has slammed press reports she will marry country music star Keith Urban in Australia next month. Stories surfaced last week that the celebrity couple had sent out invitations for an March 11 ceremony in Sydney. However, Kidman's Australian publicist Wendy Day says, "Everything about that story is nonsense. Nicole Kidman is not getting married to Keith Urban at a Catholic church in Sydney on March 11. I know of no wedding. I know of no wedding date. I know of no wedding plans." According to Day, Kidman will be presenting an Academy Award on March 5 and has no immediate plans to return to Australia. Day adds, "She is starting work on a new film in upstate New York in Early April." Kidman and Urban have been dating for the past year and made their first official public appearance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month.

An Australian court has granted actress Nicole Kidman a restraining order against two photographers she claimed left her afraid to leave her Sydney home. The Birth actress finally decided to take legal action against photographers Jamie Fawcett and Ben McDonald following a high speed car chase last weekend and the discovery of a listening device outside her mansion earlier this week. Defense lawyer Roland Day denied his clients involvement in both incidents, but Waverley Local Court Magistrate Lee Gilmore ruled the snappers behavior had to be curbed, even though she was sympathetic to the nature of their profession. Magistrate Gilmore said at yesterday's hearing, "Miss Kidman says she's willing to put up with some of it, but it's gone beyond that. I do believe the allegation in relation to the driving is a serious issue." Australian newspaper the Daily Telegraph reported details of the high speed chase through Sydney, which allegedly saw the photographers running red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road to keep up with Kidman's vehicle. Wendy Day, publicist for the 37-year-old actress, says, "Nicole would like to make it clear that she acknowledges she is a public figure and that reporters and photographers have a job to do and she respects that. However, these are specific actions against two individuals who, over a period of time, have caused her to feel threatened, intimidated and unable to leave her home without fearing for her safety."...

Gladiator star Russell Crowe has married girlfriend Danielle Spencer at a lavish ceremony in the family chapel at his Australian country ranch. The ceremony, which has been the focus of press attention for several weeks, was the climax of a weekend of celebrations, which also included a cricket match starring Australian star Shane Warne and several musical performances. Spencer, wearing a custom-made gown by Giorgio Armani, was whisked to the ceremony in a black Mercedes, escorted by a black pick-up truck and two police cars and three motorcyclists. The motorcade was an attempt to stop the world's media intruding on the ceremony, which Crowe wanted to be a private affair with only 80 close friends and family. Reporters were swarming over the entrance to Nana Glen, Crowe's property in the lush hills near Coffs Harbor, a resort town halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, where the chapel was rebuilt for the nuptials. Crowe's publicist Wendy Day had earlier warned news crews against outdoing each other to get the scoop, and promised to release pictures of the event later - for free.

Actor Russell Crowe is furious with the media's relentless attempts to spy on his extra-private upcoming wedding in Australia. Reporters and photographers have been trying to peek at the preparations for the Gladiator star's wedding to his belle Danielle Spencer - mostly from helicopters hovering over the Oscar-winner's sprawling ranch. Crowe's publicist, Wendy Day, says news crews' attempts to cover today's nuptials are "irresponsible and outrageous". She says, "The council has even acknowledged that these guys (helicopter operators), if you pay them enough, they'll be daredevils, they'll go below the safety line. Frankly, I just think it's irresponsible and outrageous." Crowe will marry Spencer on his 39th birthday in the family chapel on his ranch in the lush hills near Coffs Harbor, a resort town halfway between east coast cities Sydney and Brisbane. The Hollywood A-lister tried unsuccessfully to impose a no-fly zone over his ranch because of the expected attendance of Texas Governor Rick Perry, but he promised to release pictures of the ceremony for free to the media. Day says the wedding will include about 80 close friends and family members, but no Hollywood stars.

The Oscar-winning actor will wed the blonde beauty in the family chapel on his ranch in New South Wales on April 7. Tough-guy star Russell Crowe allowed waiters to take photographs of his engagement party - but then demanded they hand over the prized snaps so he could destroy them. Australian Crowe proposed to long-time love Danielle Spencer in Sydney restaurant Darcy's. She accepted and the subsequent party involving friends and family went on until 4am. Waiters were permitted to take photos but sworn to secrecy until Crowe revealed the news to the world's media last weekend. Crowe's spokesperson Wendy Day explains, "The pictures were not intended to be published and there was a fear they would be. So the restaurant gave them up and they no longer exist." Gladiator actor Crowe looks set to marry Spencer in April next year.
