After taking a look back at House II: The Second Story (a favorite of mine since childhood), House of 1000 Corpses (which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year), the awesomeness of Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, the leg smashing in the Stephen King adaptation Misery, three separate moments from John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, the “Jason vs. Tina” battle in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, the “all hell breaks loose” sequence from the start of Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, and the opening sequence of Pitch Black, JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek is continuing his The Best Scene video series with a look at a moment from the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here) – which isn’t just getting a 4K release for its 30 anniversary. It’s also getting a remake.

Yesterday, we saw the first images of what Bill Skarsgard of the It films is going to look like as goth rocker Eric Draven in director Rupert Sanders’ (Snow White and the Huntsman) remake of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here). There weren’t a lot of positive reactions, with many fans comparing Skarsgard’s look – which Sanders said was a mixture of his own look in the ’90s, “when we were squat-raving in London,” with modern influences like Post Malone and Lil Peep – to Jared Leto’s poorly-received version of The Joker in Suicide Squad. One person who took to social media to blast the look of the new Eric Draven was Alex Proyas, who directed the ’94 version of The Crow.
Sharing one of the images, Proyas said, “Eric Draven’s having a bad hair day. Next reboot thanks.” In the comments, he continued to mock the look:...

We recently heard that Lionsgate has picked up the distribution rights to the reboot of the classic film The Crow (get it Here), which was released by Miramax back in 1994. Before Miramax acquired it, The Crow had originally been set up at Paramount. They decided to let go of it due to the controversy surrounding the on-set death of star Brandon Lee and the amount of violence in the film. So when Paramount acquired Miramax back in 2020, gaining the rights to The Crow in the process, it was like the film had gone full circle. It came back to Paramount. Recently, cinematographer Dariusz Wolski, mentioned a 4K restoration of The Crow would be on the Paramount Plus streaming service soon. While it hasn’t hit streaming yet, Blu-Ray.com announced that the 4K Blu-ray is set to come out on May 7th to mark the film’s 30th anniversary.

Bradley Whitford is going up against Olivia Benson. The actor will guest star as a professor struggling with early-onset dementia who confesses to a murder on the Feb. 23 episode of NBC’s “Law & Order: Svu.” The episode will be directed by Mariska Hargitay.
Whitford currently stars as Commander Lawrence in Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale.” He made his directorial debut during Season 5’s penultimate episode, “Allegiance.” He will next star in AMC’s “Parish.”
Whitford is the latest addition to an ever-changing “Law & Order: Svu.” The procedural drama, currently in its 24th season, recently said goodbye to longtime cast member Kelli Giddish, who played Detective Amanda Rollins for more than a decade.
“I started playing her in my late 20s, so I’ve played her in three decades of my life, which is nuts. It’s insane. This is a show unlike any other,” Giddish told Variety after...

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is about to tackle the Harvey Weinstein scandal, because of course they are. Dick Wolf’s crime procedural, known for using current headlines as inspiration for its disturbing tales, will be taking on the Weinstein drama, though they aren’t gonna do it in the most obvious of ways. “We are hitting Harvey Weinstein head-on, but it’s not in the realm of the entertainment business,” executive producer Michael Chernuchin told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a real important episode about the rape culture in an industry, and we wanted to try stretch the law to criminalize that sort of.

Many social media users have cited the 19-season run of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as a reminder that sex crimes have long pre-dated Harvey Weinstein. To the surprise of no one, the disgraced former studio head — whose dozens of accusers recently inspired countless others to speak out against powerful men they’ve encountered in the workplace — will inspire a 2018 episode of the Dick Wolf-created NBC procedural.
The show’s executive producer, Michael Chernuchin, told Entertainment Weekly that “we are hitting Harvey Weinstein head-on” with a fictionalized account of predators who work in the airline industry.
While readying a previously-planned script about “airline pilots and what a boys club that is,” Chernuchin said he and his writers realized, “‘Wow, this is exactly what the actresses go through in Hollywood. It’s the same environment.’ So we got all of our Harvey stuff out with airline pilots.”

No big surprise here, but NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, known for its use of “ripped from the headlines” storylines, will use the Harvey Weinstein scandal as inspiration for an episode later this season. 2017-05-23T07:27:20-07:00'Chicago Justice' Cancelled by NBC
The verdict is in for Chicago Justice. NBC has canceled the Dick Wolf legal drama after one season.
Justice, the fourth addition to Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise, opened softly midseason with a 13-episode run that averaged a 1.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 8.7 million viewers. However, the drama boasted by far the smallest cast of the One Chicago franchise, with just five series regulars.
The legal spinoff, starring Philip Winchester and Carl Weathers, leaned decidedly more procedural than its soapier counterparts like Chicago Fire, reminiscent of Wolf's first NBC series, Law & Order. In addition to showrunner Michael S. Chernuchin, a Law & Order vet, the drama also welcomed several franchise vets onscreen during the 13-episode first season, including former star Richard Brooks and recurring favorite Tovah Feldshuh, with plans to bring back more familiar faces in season two.

Two new executive producers will divide showrunner duties on USA Network's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" next season.
Robert Nathan, who has worked on the "L&O" flagship and "Svu," will run eight episodes, which will star Jeff Goldblum and Julianne Nicholson.
Walon Green, who has been a producer with the franchise since 1992, will lead the other eight with Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe.
The duo replace outgoing showrunner Warren Leight, who left the venerable procedural franchise in June to produce the HBO series "In Treatment."
Also: Tim Lea will serve as co-exec producer under Nathan, and Michael Chernuchin will be co-exec producer under Green. Executive producer/director John Coles will oversee production in New York.
"They have written hundreds of episodes of the brands' various iterations," executive producer Dick Wolf said. "By joining 'Ci,' they are providing the best of both worlds -- a new perspective and a wealth of experience with the brand. I could not ask for a better team as we embark on our eighth season."

Dale, Cohen, Roberts get casting calls
James Badge Dale has been tapped as a lead in NBC's one-hour "Fort Pit", while Scott Cohen has come on board Fox's comedy "The Return of Jezebel James".
Meanwhile, Eric Roberts has joined the cast of NBC's breakout hit "Heroes".
"Pit", from Sony Pictures TV and Denis Leary's Apostle and writer Michael Chernuchin, is a drama with comedic elements set at one of the worst, most crime-ridden NYPD precincts in Brooklyn, where bad cops are sent to live out their careers and rookie cops with no connections are stationed.
Dale will play Bobby Bonelli, who is new to the police precinct and fresh out of the academy, where he was tops in his class.
Dale most recently co-starred in Martin Scorsese's "The Departed". His TV credits include Fox's "24." He is repped by ICM, Myrna Jacoby of MJ Management and attorney Geoff Oblath.
"Jezebel", from Regency TV and "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, revolves around two estranged sisters who reunite after one of them, Coco, agrees to carry the baby of the other one, Sarah.

The Vine: Chernuchin exits 'L&O'
There has been a changing of the showrunner guard behind the scenes on "Law & Order." Michael Chernuchin has exited his post as showrunner and executive producer of the venerable NBC/Universal drama series after having what sources described as a "falling out" with the big boss of the Law & Order shows, Dick Wolf. It's understood that the void left by Chernuchin's departure from Law & Order this month has been filled by staffers who were already on the show: executive producer Matthew Penn and co-executive producers Eric Overmyer and Roz Weinman. Chernuchin is now focused on developing new projects through his overall deal with Universal Network Television. Chernuchin and a spokesman for Universal declined comment on the matter.
