Wicker Park (2004)
5/10
False Advertising
20 January 2005
Wicker Park is not a bad movie at all, but its previews and promos make it very misleading. Upon viewing a trailer for Wicker Park, the viewer gets the impression it is some type of supernatural thriller like "The Forgotten." However, it is not this type of movie at all. It is a romantic drama, and a long and slow moving one at that. It can be quite suspenseful at times but never in a scary, heart pounding kind of way. Sometimes I'm in the mood for long drama and sometimes I'm in the mood for thrillers. I would have enjoyed this movie a lot more if I hadn't been misled. With all that said, this is a nice, original movie with tons of twists and a slowly unraveling ending. Worth a watch at least, but know what to expect :) 5/10

My First Zombie Movie!
19 April 2004
Dawn of the Dead is the very first zombie movie I've seen (if you don't count 28 Days. I enjoyed it very much! I've seen tons of horror movies, and I've learned not to expect anything from them. Just enjoy them! I definetly did! This movie had a few good scares, and even some good laughs. It also had a bright, fun, cast. Sarah Polley is particularly captivating. Though she's not exactly beautiful, something about her makes her very watchable. A great, fun horror movie definitely worth a viewing or two! Watch with loads of popcorn and the lights out! 9/10. Okay, this needs to be ten lines. My reviews are never ten lines, no matter how much I type. Filling Space. Filling Space. Filling Space. Is this ten lines? It looks like ten lines! I hope it will be.

Secret Window (2004)
Kinda Blecky, but decent
26 March 2004
Secret Window is by no means a fabulous movie, but it is decent enough to rent at least once. I wanted to see "Dawn of the Dead", but I'd promised my mom a movie night, and she thought this one was the better choice. She fell asleep during it, which is understandable as some parts were very slow moving. It reminded me of swimming pool, in that it worked up very slowly to a terrific ending. Actually, this was very much like swimming pool, but I'm getting off the subject :) Johnny Depp gives a quirky performance, but I was a little surprised he'd choose this role. I think it may have looked better on paper. Anyway, wait until this movie comes out on dvd and then rent it. Its good, and very fun to look for clues to the ending, but not worth the 10 bucks you'll pay to see it on the big screen. 5/10

Great!!!
25 March 2004
ESOTSM is a fabulous movie! Our theatre rarely gets indie flicks so I was tremendously excited when I found out they would be showing this! It did not disappoint! This movie tells the story of Joel erasing Clementine from his mind with much symbolism, and a nice subplot involving Mary, Patrick, and the doctor. Kate Winslet is absolutely brilliant and so raw here, Carrey is equally amazing and completely transformed from his usual self, and even icky Kirsten Dunst does a nice job here. Very original and different! It is so nice to see something not the norm every now and then!!! This movie will grab you and keep you thinking until the very end. 10/10! A must see, and a great way to be introduced to indie flicks! Now, is that ten lines yet?

REALLY FUN!
10 March 2004
This movie is really cute. It tells the story of a lovable but overly dramatic and slightly bohemian young girl who is suddenly uprooted to suburbian New Jersey where she faces all the challenges of a new life. I had been excited about it since I love fluffy little movies and since I'm a big Lindsay Lohan fan but after hearing a ton of negative reviews I was a little wary. I made myself going in expecting a cute little movie and thats exactly what I got. Of course its not oscar calibur but it is very fun and it entertained me for a good hour and a half. Lohan is absolutely amazing, so pretty and talented and I hope she'll go far! Her co star (Ella) was also quite brilliant. Anyway, ignore the bad reviews, go in with realistic expecations and enjoy the show. 7/10 for some overly silly moments.

Twisted (I) (2004)
GREAT!
10 March 2004
This isn't really my genre, I"m more of a romantic comedy kind of girl, but my mom wanted to see this and I thought a change of pace would be nice. This was thorougly enjoyable, easy to follow, and suspenseful.Though many have complained it was predictable I was surprised at who the villian turned out to be. Not really sure why everybody was complaining. Ashley Judd is a good actress and this is an awesome movie. I will be checking out more thriller type movies from now on. Definetly worth a viewing!!! 8/10. I wonder if this is ten lines long yet..... not quite let me make it a bit longer. What is with this new rule? I wonder if they mean ten full sentences cause I just cannot get it to be long enough. There, that should do it.

Surprisingly Good!
15 February 2004
I have loved Adam Sandler for the longest time but lately his movies have just not been for me! This one brought back the Adam I know and love. Sandler is a truly talented actor when he shows it. Think "Punch drunk love". Anyway this movie is very cute and original and has some really funny parts. If you're in a good mood it'll keep you laughing and you'll leave smiling. Drew Barrymore shines as always. Sandler and Barrymore are always perfect together. The ending is daring because it doesn't go for the typical and they lived happily ever after thing. The bottom line is this is a syrupy, sweet, and all together fun movie perfect for Valentine's Day. 7/10

PS. I wonder how many times Drew and Adam have actually hooked up :)

Cute to the max :)
5 February 2004
No other word could possibly describe this film as well as "cute". Thats just what it is. A breath of fresh air. Clean, lovable and just all around fun. You can tell the whole story from the poster but it is still worth a viewing. I just feel so light and airy from this movie :) Definetly go see it. 9/10. A great rom com.

Brilliance, Sheer Brilliance

The only thing I could think of to say after watching this movie was WOW. This film is absolutely amazing......so very original and something desperately needed in today's world of mediocre predictable movies. The story keeps you rivoted and on the edge of your seat and Ashton Kutcher is phenomenal. Who knew this pretty face had it in him? He will definetly go far. This movie proves it. Don't miss it.....you'll be really sorry you did. 10/10 Everything a movie should be and OH SO ORIGINAL!

What A Fun Little Movie!
22 January 2004
Now maybe I liked this cause it just hit me in a pleasant mood or maybe its cause I was expecting it to be pretty horrible. Either way, I did, indeed, enjoy this movie. The story is fun and easy to follow and the soundtrack gives this an all over happy go lucky feel. Jennifer Aniston's character is particularly likeable and admirable. I will never understand WHAT people who hate these type of films go to the movies expecting. They're comedies, not made for an oscar but to entertain and this ninety minute romp did just that. Enjoy on a lighthearted night. 8/10 Oh and btw....surprisingly clean.......and not a bad choice for my first flick of the year!

Beautiful Girl (2003 TV Movie)
What a gem!
19 October 2003
This little movie is so cute and studded with some up and coming stars. The film is about a not so skinny, not so pretty girl who posesses inward beauty and decides to enter a beauty pageant. The story is fun, well thought out and has a great meaning. I definetly reccomend this to any teenager girl struggling with her self image!

The epitome of false advertising
6 October 2003
Cold Creek Manor is not a bad movie but it has been disliked so much because the wrong audience is going to see it. When I first saw the preview for the film I thought it was about a family who moved into a haunted house and thought it looked like a good horrom film but contrary to that its a slightly dull and very slow moving film about a family who moves into a house that has been repoed. The former inhabitant is not the nicest guy ever and is trying to get revenge on them. It has some very memorable scenes (love the one about the horse) and would be doing much better had it been advertised as a psychological thriller instead of a supernatural horror movie. The person I was watching with leaned over to me and said I thought this was supposed to be scary. This pretty much sums up this movie. Boring and slow paced, advertised wrong but worth a rental 4/10

Strangely Charming
22 September 2003
Let me start by saying I'm a die hard fan of the original Jeepers Creepers. It is the epitome of what campy horror should be. The second was really really different from the first one, not as original or as good but it had its moments. It sucked. I knew it sucked but somehow.....it was good. It was fun to watch and entertaining. The Creeper didn't look nearly as good or scary but I was happy to see Lena Cardwell (Formerly of Passions) on the big screen and this little film was just sort of......fun. Not bad. Not great but hey, its horror! 6/10

Disappointed
28 August 2003
I love mindless horror movies. I love Freddy Krueger and I liked this movie but I was disappointed. This movie has been rumored for almost ten years now and I was so excited but it honestly didn't make THAT much sense. Mindless and fun but lacks the thrill of most Freddy movies. Stll worth a viewing and it did give me nightmares :) 7/10

Freaky Friday (2003)
Cheesy Disney Brilliance!
28 August 2003
I swear there are few things in life better than a cheesy disney movie. This is another perfect one. OF COURSE its silly and predictable but oh-so-fun. Lindsay Lohan is brilliant and I really think she's got a shot at being a *star*. Jamie Lee Curtis is really good in this movie but maybe slightly "overacts" at times. All in all its loads of fun. 10/10

Pirates of The Carribbean is the perfect summer movie. Nice and long to keep you in the air conditioning with some great jokes and a really fun story. With all the ahem "films" that have been coming out this summer POTC is greatly appreciated. It never gets old or boring and is always exciting. Theres not a dull moment in this film. What can you say but its the perfect summer flick for all ages! 10/10

So so Disappointed!!
14 July 2003
I was so very excited when I heard there would be a Legally Blonde sequel! I Thought the original was the best movie of its genre since Clueless but the sequel managed to completely ruin that. Even looking at LB2 as its own movie and not part of a sequel doesn't make it any better. If this had just been some movie without a "name" it would have done horribly. I really hated this movie, and found it completely stupid. I give it a 3/10 and am majorly disappointed. I think Reese Witherspoon made a big mistake.

Will there ever be another good movie in theaters?
14 July 2003
I love stupid crappy childish comedies. I adore "Billy Madison" and "American Pie" and anything silly. I even didn't mind Freddy got Fingered but Bruce Almighty was really silly and not in a good way. It just seems to me movies are getting worse and worse. This flick has its funny moments but it is mostly for those people who have a very "Special" brain which causes them to like Jim Carrey movies. Please for the love of God pass by Bruce Almighty and head over to the "classics" section. 3/10

This Time Around (2003 TV Movie)
Nothing Special but pretty cute
22 June 2003
This Time around is your standard tv movie fare which is always fun when you're in the mood for it. The previews aired on ABC Family all weekend long back to back and made the movie look really cute. Carly Pope plays a girl who as a eighth grader was a dead ringer for Heather Matarazzo in "Welcome to the dollhouse" (thats not a good thing). She grows up to be cute and runs into the boy who made her life awful in junior high. She and her best friend played by the highlight of the film, funny Sara Rue, decide to make him fall in love and then dump him. If you've ever seen a movie before in your life you know exactly what will happen. This was cute but not nearly as good as it could have been. A very interesting concept that could easily be adapted to the big screen. Watch it when its on television but don't bother recording it. 3/10

Pure lighthearted fun.....but then again what else would it be?
17 May 2003
Lizzie McGuire is exactly what you go to see. Corny fun that you don't want anyone else to know you enjoy. If you have kids then you have an excuse to go and if you're a woman you can get away with it. All men over fifteen attending will be labeled perverts! :P Lizzie is a very fun movie for the whole family. It was made doubly enjoyable by the fact that the little girls behind me cheered when Lizzie shared her final kiss of the movie (I won't give away who she kissed). If you're excpecting a masterpiece you're delusional. Lizze is exactly what its supposed to be....Fun Fluff. 10/10 because it did what it set out to do!

Willard (2003)
Quirky
16 April 2003
Willard isn't a horrible movie. It's also not a great movie but it is fun. It's not really intended to be scary, but darkly funny. Its a dark little film few people will really like because they're seeing it under the impression it will a) be lighthearted and fun or b) scare the crap out of them. Willard does neither. It sets up a creepy mood, makes you feel very sympathetic to the main character, and gain insight into the life of a guy you'd otherwise never think twice about. It's definetly worth a viewing or two, especially when you're in a dark mood or its a rainy boring day. 6/10

Slightly Disappointing
16 April 2003
Let me just say I was in the perfect mood to see this flick and I'm a huge Sandler fan but I was a little disapointed. The film was at times funny and cute but something was just.....missing. Whatever it was it just didn't feel like a typical Adam Sandler comedy. It was more like a romantic comedy gone wrong. This wasn't a horrible movie and I'm sure that if I somehow get forced into seeing "Bulletproof Monk" or "Mailibu's Most Wanted" this one will jump up a few notches. Nothing special except of course....Jack Nicholson. 5/10

Old School (2003)
Stupid Fun
27 February 2003
Old School made me laugh a few times and well...thats what it was supposed to do. I was a little disappointed that Juliette Lewis didn't have a bigger part but she served as a great cameo. Luke Wilson was good as always but Will Farell really stole the show. He was hilarrious! The movie sometimes stoops to a stupid adam sandler type level but b at times is very funny and cute. Go ahead and see it. 5/10

Daredevil (2003)
Surprisingly Good!
27 February 2003
I didn't really want to see Daredevil that much....I mean I'd already seen Spider man but I thought maybe it just might be okay so I went ahead and saw it. Surprisingly it was good. The first few minutes admitedly sucked and I was like....okay whatever but it picked up once we got to meet Electra and turned into a very good movie. Exciting and fun. 8/10. The 8 is for the slightly slow beginning.

Chicago (2002)
Razzle-Dazzling
23 February 2003
Chicago is really amazing. I was a bit iffy about seeing a musical. I'm "uncultured" since I've never seen a REAL play or anything so maybe I'm biased when I say Chicago really amazed me. The singing, the dancing ..it was just spectacular and a very different experience. Needless to say it whet my appetite for more musicals and broadway shows! I really loved the song "Razzle-Dazzle" and regardless of other people's opinions thought Richard Gere was simply amazing and perfect for the part. Renee Zelwegger also did a very nice job but I was a bit disappointed with Catherine Zeta Jones who I found lacked the FLAIR needed for this type of thing. Anyway see it at least once. Very impressive. 9/10 since it was a bit slow paced.
