Castle (2009–2016)

I love this series!
28 March 2009
I have said it before and I will say it again. This show has promise and the chemistry is great. Now that I have said that the show will now be canceled. Why do all the good new shows die when the crappy old shows live on! This show has good writing, acting, and characters. There is no weak link in the characters. Castle is a magnificent show and I hope that people give it a chance. I would hate for this to become another New Amsterdam or Dresden Files. Canceled before it's time. Please give this a chance ABC. I'm a College student and I can't watch it when it comes on Monday night but I watch it online or Tivo when I miss it. Just keep the good stuff coming.

The Dark Knight
6 September 2008
I loved Batman Begins. It was my favorite Comic book movie, because of how closely it stuck to the origins and how well the script worked. I thought that Christian Bale was the best Batman there has ever been. I see now how low they set the bar with the first movie.

When Heath Ledger was announced as the Joker, I didn't know what to think. I had never really watched his movies. But when the trailer came out for the movie and I saw the first glimpses of him, I was shocked and excited. I knew then that the movie was going to be amazing. I annoyed my family with my constant talking about the Dark Knight.

I like to know a lot about movies so I checked my sites for news. And then I heard that Aaron Eckhart was cast as Harvey Dent. I went into overdrive with my anticipation for the movie. It was all I could do to keep from talking about it every waking moment. Now I'm not one of those people who dresses up like the characters from the movie. But I was excited none the less.

I've seen the movie four times. Three in conventional theaters and once in I-MAX. I loved it each time more than the last. The acting is superb, the story phenomenal, the dialog was some of the best I have ever heard. It can be said that this could be a really good set up for the next one, or they could stop right here and people would still be satisfied. I have to agree. I would love another Batman pic following this theme. But if they decide not to I will not be disappointed. The movie works on so many different levels. There is not a plot hole in the movie. Go see the movie if you haven't already. And if you have see it again. This movie is #1 in my book.

Wow!
21 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie just blew the comic book genre out of the water. I cried when he suited up in the Mark II. It was beautiful, just so beautiful. It was the first ever live action comic book. If you paused the film it would be a frame from a comic book. It was masterful. My favorite part of the movie was...the entire movie. I loved the humor.

I can't even begin to praise everyone who worked on the movie. The writing, the plot, the acting, the action- superb. Everyone was perfectly cast in their respective roles and no one was a weak link in the story or acting or being likable. An unparalleled origin story. In the words of Stan Lee. Nuff said.

Good movie.
23 April 2008
I heard about this movie almost a year before it came out. I'm a big Ryan Reynolds fan. I wondered if the movie would ever come out and then I heard it was going to be released on V-day. "YES!" I thought "finally". Then the girl I went to see the movie with was five minutes late so that meant that I missed the set up to the movie. But the movie was utterly enjoyable just the same.

I like the idea of mysterious romantic comedy. Where we don't quite know who the mother is. But it is pretty clear who he wants to be with. And you know that's enough. The story was well crafted, the players were phenomenal, and the experience unforgettable. I really enjoyed this movie because, well, it's the guys point of view. All "chick flicks" are from the woman's point of view, it degrades the man in most cases except for "the one" that the girl is meant to be with but he does something to tick her off so therefore all men are scum. In this, yes we address the issue of men are scum, but we move into the unfamiliar territory of men and their emotions. We don't want women to know that we have a side like that but it is there just the same.

Oh! Whoops! I loved the interplay between Ryan and his on-screen daughter. Where he would go off into something that he should be changing and then realizes it is much to late to go back, so he does what any normal parent would do. He lies. He lies his butt off to dig himself out of the hole he is burying himself in.

The end of the movie is good to... but I won't go into that here. See the movie when you can. I think you'll enjoy it.

Supernatural (2005–2020)

Coolest freak show out their.
16 April 2008
I have never been one who enjoys the supernatural genre. But this show has a certain grace about it. The brothers are perfectly cast in their roles. Jensen Ackles is hilarious as Dean Winchester, and Jared Padalecki is good for the more dramatic portion of the show. The writing is phenomenal with story after story of good plots and arcs. It's hard to say what I like most about the show. But I guess it's because they aren't trying to be another run of the mill freak show. Buffy was always painful, but not quite as bad as Charmed. I can't say that X-files was bad, I just never got into it. My point is, this is a great show and I know you'll enjoy it when you give it a chance.

Strong start and staying that way.
17 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
While it's not my favorite show out there it is quickly becoming one of the must see on my list. The story may be an old one but then again there are only thirty-six basic plots and how you twist and mesh them is how you tell if something is great.

We have the possibility for a love triangle. Those are getting really old, but since this is a new series and we have no idea who these people are, it works.

We have an immortal who wants to die, as some others have said, very Highlander. But since there isn't anyone running around with swords chopping heads off. And also he can have children. I don't think it resembles that to much.

And a cop show. Nuf said.

Now lets look at every other show out there. Do we like cop shows? Hhmmmm. Let's see we have three CSI's, three Law & Order's, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Without a Trace, Cold Case... Yeah, I think that we like crime shows. Immortals? Not to many shows out there with Immortals... so kudos to them. Love triangles? I don't like them personally but as I said before. This is a new show with new people, I'll deal. And besides they haven't even gone into the love triangle so I'll live.

I hope that this show gets a good run. Maybe five seasons, anymore than that and it might get tired. But this is an amazing show and I hope I've said as much. Give the show a try, it's magic.

Serendipity (2001)
10/10
Surpassed all my expectations.
5 February 2008
I sat down in a semi-crowded theater, the lights went down and one of the first trailers was for a little romantic-comedy called 'Serendipity'. Being a boy of ten at the time of the trailer's release, I did not say aloud my wish to see this movie. But I desperately wanted too.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I have had to grow up slightly faster than other people my age. Which may attribute to my sense of loneliness when it comes to the opposite sex. But when I get down hearted or depressed, all I have to do is watch this movie. It is the best story to tell you that it will all work out in the end.

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005)

They went boldly where no show had gone before.
29 January 2008
I was never much of a Trekie, when I was younger sure I watched TNG reruns but I never really got into them. DS9 was a little too religious for my family, not a bad show just... too much. My family changed Television servers so we lost Voyager, we got it back in the last season and I liked that. I guess the reason that I liked Enterprise more than the rest was because it was the first Star Trek show that I watched from the beginning. I thought that the characters were intriguing, the premise was ingenious the writing was superb, and the acting was good too.

But don't get me wrong the show did have it's faults. Season three was a fiasco. It just got too drawn out, the best episodes were the stand alone episodes. Season four got back to the good stuff. And although I hated waiting, the three part episodes were great. Another fault of the show was the lack of character driven episodes. Don't get me wrong they had some but they were all about the same four people. Archer, T'Pol, Phlox, and Tucker.

Admittiedly they were the best the show had to offer but still, if they had given us intriguing stories about the others it would have, not only given us a reason to like their character more, but it would also have given them more to write about for the show. (Making sure another season Three would never happen again.)

That is really the only bad things I have to say about the show, I just wish it could have ran a little longer.

Why can't we have more of this?
16 January 2008
This is such a wonderful story. I love this movie. I remember watching the movie when I was younger and laughing at the prate falls and other obvious funny moments. It wasn't until recently that I noticed all, well most, of the subtle lines of dialog and lyrics. To this day Under the Sea is my favorite song for the lyrics. It is just perfect! (As a matter of fact I'm listening to it as I write this.)

With most Disney movies the songs are just there for fun, but with this, they help move the story along. Think about it. Bear Nessecities, what did that accomplish, except take up a couple of minutes. But if you listen to the songs of The Little Mermaid, they have something to offer the story. Just look at Kiss the Girl.

Man I wish more movies could be like this.

Seeing is believing.
22 October 2007
I was blessed to be eleven when this movie came out. Because that only enhanced the experience for me. I was seeing it as if I could be at that school doing that stuff. Speaking of school, when I went to see the movie someone at the theater was taken out of school to see this movie by his mother! She went and got him from school and went to see the movie. How cool is that! The movie stuck surprisingly close to the original story. I remember reading the book before going into the theater on opening day. Their were a few things that were different but they were so minor that I didn't notice. Everybody was perfect in their roles. Alan Rickman was simply dripping evil as Severus Snape. It's probably the best introductory movie out there. And six years later it's still pretty darn cool.

Better than the first.
22 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Which is hard to do. They both stick very close to the story. But this one has more humor, action, suspense, acting, and plot. This movie didn't have the burden of introducing you to this world of fantasy. So it could just jump right into the story. And it did. Again the Adult actors and actresses deliver wonderful performances. Richard Harris' Dumbledore is back and better than ever. Looking more comfortable in his role. Alan Rickman, simply looks like he is Severus Snape. And whoever plays Lockhart fit the bill nicely. The children grew up considerably in their acting, they no longer looked as if they were statues capable of speech. One of the best movies in the series and that I've seen.

It's not that it was bad...
22 October 2007
Just that it wasn't the movie we wanted it to be. It was inevitable that the movie wouldn't as good as it predecessors, because we lost Dumbledore. Richard Harris was Dumbledore. Soft spoken, yet very firm. Gentle, but also powerful. And he just looked like the most brilliant man on Earth. The second reason was that we had a new director with a new vision of how the movie would look. Now on to what worked. The dementors, looked good. The sets, incredible. The scenery, amazing. And the acting, better. But the most amazing thing is the producers, and others, who find the actors to play these characters. Gary Oldman, perfect. Timothy Spall, well chosen. And forgive me I forgot his name but the man who play Lupin, is spot on.

I give it a nine,
22 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Only because I have seen the Fifth movie. I loved the Goblet of Fire in it's paper backed form. And I loved what they did with the movie adaptation.

I knew going in that they were going to have to take a lot out of the story. So going in knowing that, really helped. I didn't hate that they cut Sirius' part down, but I was displeased that they chopped Voldamort's return speech so much. But even that couldn't make me hate the movie. The scenes in the grave yard were nice and chilling. I also liked how they use more cool colors. The red's were deepened the gold's dulled down. It was just a good effect.

The young actors stepped up their game, as they have for all the movies, to a new level. And all the older actors gave some great performances. Most notably Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. You really loath the guy, but I love to watch him work. So that just shows you how great an actor he is.

The only inconsistent actor is Michal Gambon. He did a wonderful job in the Prisoner of Azkaban, but this is a totally different person and it's not Dumbledore. They said that they wanted to show that he was frazzled but they could have done that without him shaking Harry around.

The Ron/Hermione relationship or whatever deepens and shows that Ron has a soft spot for her.

In the end. It's just a great story no matter if it's a movie or book.

Bourne to be the best !
22 October 2007
By the end of the first hour my jaw was nestled comfortably between my feet. The movie never, and I do mean never, lets up in action. It may be mild action but it's action. Once again every member of the cast fits perfectly. The explosions were realistic, the chase scenes were feasible, and the fighting was incredible. Matt Damon will forever be Jason Bourne.

All I really have to say is that every Bourne movie gets better and this is no exception. The action, the stakes, the plot. How they do it I will never know. I applaud the man who wrote the screen plays to every one of these movies. Because if he hadn't done such a great job with the first movie, we wouldn't have this one to talk about.

So don't go see it in theaters, go experience it in theaters if it's still out where you live, but if not December 11th Bourne comes home to you!

Great ! But not Frasier.
22 October 2007
It has great potential. The pilot was great, it blew us out of the water with it's one liners. And the tear jerker at the end, it was great. The second episode was good. But the third and fourth were let downs. Probably because Ty Burrell had a diminished part in both episodes. And then this past episode, Night of Possibilities, aired. It had some of the same quality as the first episode.

It's a good show, but again it's not as good as some other shows. I hope it gets lots of seasons but if they don't continue the standard set in the pilot I don't see how it will make it past season three.

On to the Players!

It's great to see Kelsey Grammar back in action. I loved Frasier and I want to love this show so for Kelsey I'm watching.

Patrica Heaton is also fun to watch her and Kelsey have great... No, wonderful chemistry.

Fred Willard, that old lovable idiot. He throws the lines masterfully.

Ty Burrell, I didn't realize he was on the show until it aired. And what a joyful surprise that was. He is such a great physical actor just like David from Frasier. (Niles Crane)

Adya Field, looks like a bimbo but she actually has a brain which is refreshing to see.

Josh Gad, I like him but, he shouldn't be a series regular. He could appear in a lot of episodes but just not as a big part of the show. He's a great guest star.

All in all, it's a good show. So give it a chance and lets hope the writers step it up a notch.

Batman Begins (2005)
10/10
The best comic book movie out there!
29 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Unlike most origin stories, this one is great! Spider-man, X-men, and 2004's The Punisher, had solid origin stories, (The Punisher is second only to Batman Begins) but they felt comic book. I know that of all the movies I listed Batman is the only one that could actually happen in real life. But still, they should really all make you want to suspend belief for them. As with Spider-man 2, X2, and Spider-man 3. X-men: the last stand was very comic book, and didn't deliver as X2 had.

But back to Batman Begins, what a movie. They didn't get bogged down in the origin, but they didn't let you forget that it was the drive of the movie either. I was blessed to see this movie in I-MAX. What a show. It was probably the only screen big enough to hold all the movie has to offer.

Now on to the people who made the movie what it was. First, it doesn't matter who you have in you movie it has to have a good story. So the first bit of congratulating goes to David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan. For their wonderful collaboration. Second goes to the actors. Christian Bale is Batman/Bruce Wayne. Just like Christopher Reeves was Superman. Liam Neeson's portrayal of Henri Ducard was chilling. Those who have seen the movie will understand. Michale Cain's Alfred was wonderful. It was nice to see Alfred do something besides bring drinks and advice on a serving tray. Morgan Freeman's Lucius Fox was a wonderful addition also. Katie Holmes' Rachel Dawes was good. Her acting was fine but she just doesn't look old enough to be an assistant D.A. And finally the Director and crew. Without them and their insistence on making the best movie they could make. We would just have another good comic book movie.

Now I wait for the next installment. The Dark Knight. I hope this team of great actors, writers, and directors can bring us another home run!

A great watch!
24 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it's a departure from the book. Did they cut out information that should have been in, yes. Now that, that is out of the way. What a Fantastic movie. Having seen the movie three times it is easily my favorite of the movies so far. Which I thought would be impossible since I thought that the Fourth was superb. The actors performances were spot on. Dan had a shaky start but finished nicely. Evanna Lynch's portrayal of Luna was spot on. The best part of the movie, however, was the score. It evoked all the right emotions at the right times. But a close second was the final battle between the Order of the Pheonix and the Death Eaters. It had me on the edge of my seat every time I saw it. I was blessed to see the movie with good audiences. Go see the movie quickly before it's out of theaters. Cause it's going to be a while before it's out on DVD.

Burn Notice (2007–2013)

One of the best
18 July 2007
When I first heard of the show I didn't know what to think. But then I heard that Bruce was apart of the show so I decided that the whole family should watch. And so we did. And now I crave to know what is going to happen next. The main plot of the show is intriguing but individual stories are just as good. There isn't a flaw in this show. And so far all the episodes are very re-watchable. Which is probably the best part of the show. This show can be enjoyed by most but children under ten won't get the humor and the content is just a little over their head. So if you have children note that they might enjoy the action parts they will get board with the rest of it. All I got to say is watch it and fall in love.

The best movie I've seen so far!
10 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie starts a little slow but then again it's the set up with the credits rolling over them so I guess that's not a problem. I love how the explosions start small and continue to get bigger without seeming to be just pumping up the action. (There is a point to the explosion.) And the plot just keeps giving and giving. Oh! And who hear didn't love it when Willis cranked Creedence Clearwater Revivel? Also is it just me or does every movie seem to get bigger? I mean things at stake. In the first one it was a building, second an airport, third a whole city, and now the entire east coast. I love it. And I love the movie. I guess there is only one problem with this movie is... it's going to take forever to come out on DVD.

All I got to say about what you should do, is spend the money to go see it on the largest screen possible.

Since when do the shows live up to the books?
28 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
You need to take it out of context. This is t.v. not a novel. Sometimes you have to sacrifice some elements of the books to fit it into a one hour slot. Because much to my dismay you can't have a two hour t.v. show every week.

I like the show... a lot. I was never a fan of Buffy or Charmed, because they were too campy. And I wasn't about to give this show a chance. But I was up one night and the episode where Harry wakes up in a strange bed and someone is serving him breakfast all the while plotting to kill him. It intrigued me. So I stayed up and finished the episode. I loved it, so I tuned in the next week hoping it was as good. It was. It's refreshing to see how seriously it takes itself. The actors are great, Bob is by far the best.

Now I admit, I have never read the books but, really did you expect to watch the book in live action? If you were, then stay in that happy place. I mean not every book put to film can be a Nero Wolfe.

All I got to say is give it a try. Don't let another good show go.

News flash! I've been reading some other comments for the show and some seem to think it's been canceled. I would like to draw these peoples attention to the fact that they have released the FIRST season on DVD. Notice that they spent money for it to say FIRST season instead of COMPLETE SERIES. Which I think someone in the ad department would have noticed. I hope.

Smallville (2001–2017)
10/10
Making Superman believable again.
21 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
When I first heard that there was going to be a new superman show I was skeptical. Having fallen in love with Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Forgive me I was five when that was on. Although I still like their choice for Lois. But after the Pilot episode of Smallville I was hooked. It was intriguing to this eleven year old. And it still is to this seventeen year old. It's gotten a bit predictable but they still have twists that you don't expect.

The cast is great. Tom Welling is Clark Kent. Just like Christipher Reeve is Superman. I doubt that anyone can take that title away from them.

Although Sam Jones III wasn't on for very long he was a very likable person. I hated to see him go.

Allison Mack, thank you Al and Miles. She has great energy and is extremely cute. They may change her a hair bit to much for my liking but at least that's not apart of her character.

Michael Rosenbaum is hands down the best Lex Luthor of all time. He looks twisted enough to do most of the things he's accused of on the show. He delivers his lines masterfully. He is by far the most intriguing character.

John Glover was an interesting choice for the nonexistent Lional Luthor. His character has woven himself into every detail of the other characters lives making it hard for him to be likable, but you still do.

Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as ma and pa Kent are great additions to the cast. They work perfectly as the moral backdrop to the show.

Erica Durance has blended rather nicely into the mix since joining the show in season four.

Justin Hartly even though he's not a series regular and he was only in seven episodes is probably my favorite hero that they've brought to the show. His story arc in season six was well crafted. I hope to see him back in season seven as the Green Arrow.

I guess I have to say something about Kristin Kreuk. She's a descent Lana Lang although I would have preferred that they kept to the comics and her be a redheaded girl instead. It's not to say she's a bad actress she's fine. She's just not my favorite character.

Over all this is one of the best shows on television. Give it a chance.

Criminal Minds (2005– )
10/10
This is the best crime show on television!
15 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The writing is superb. The acting is amazing and the cast is top notch. Although I must admit the story line at the moment with the character of Dr. Spencer Reed (My favorite)is very depressing. I hate the story lines of drug use because they are just so over used and go far to long as story arcs. They drag literally and figuratively. But back to the point give the show a chance it will be well worth you time. It's rare when you find a show with so many good characters. There are some weak links but they only seem that way because the others are just so phenomenal. The comedy of the show is executed by the delightful Penelope Garsea the team's residing tech. The afore mentioned Dr. Spencer Reed is the coolest geek out there. It was startling at first to see Thomas Gibbson of Dharma & Greg to be playing a cold indifferent Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner but he's still very likable. I especially enjoy the character of Derick Morgan. Portrayed by Shemare Moore (The Young and the Restles). I'm so glad to see he made it to a show that's just as exceptional as he is. (Not putting down the soap but I'm a guy and we don't watch soaps...often.) Jason Giddian is the head of this little team and he's often enjoyable to watch, I just don't watch it for him. But still good acting. The other two characters are of a different sorts. They are the women and they are the eye candy. I just wish they would beef up their parts and give them a little more depth than they do but still I'm not complaining. J.J. is the person who deals with the media...mostly they've started to give her more to do. And the newest addition to the team. Emily, the raven haired beauty she hasn't been on much but there is definite potential. Over all just watch the show you won't regret it. Promise.

Frasier (1993–2004)
10/10
It shall be missed but never forgotten!
15 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING SPOILERS MAY ENSUE! Alas, I was too young to understand when it was still new ,but the beauty of age is experience and the joys from the past. Although I've just turned seventeen, the show is still appealing to my sense of humor. Now I wonder where I was when this show was winning all those awards and then I remember most of the time I was watching old Barney the dinosaur episodes. Although I love this show, I hate what it's done to me. It is the epitome of T.V.'s finest show and so that is how I hold it to other shows. While other show may be good this show was "Fantastic!!!" To quote another 'Docter Who' will remain anonymous.

Even though I came in late in the game (After the show was gone for a full season!!!)I have all seasons, except the final season, that have been released on DVD so far. I can't wait till May 15th. I want season Nine now! (And yes my sources are reliable. If you don't believe me then wait and see.) My favorite episode is probably...No! Definitely... Out With Dad. But also a goody is Room With A View. Even though it's a bit more serious than most other episodes. It shows depth that was missing from the show. I have recommended this show to all my friends but they all say "Okay. Good for you." But I have managed to change one of their minds. Now every time I see her she wants another DVD for another Friaser fix.

We all agree that Niles is the driving force of the show. He barely lets you hear the set up for the punchline before delivery. His physical skills go unnoticed the first few times you watch the show but as it goes on you see a master at work. His facial expressions are just as funny as he is.

Martin is very well written part and John Mahoney delivers.

Roz is utterly delectable and sassy. The funniest thing about her is her street smarts that seems to be just beyond Fraiser and Niles' grasp.

But every show has a chink in the armor. Daphne is the weakest character. Not to say that it was Miss Leeve's fault. But the writers just didn't know what to do with her. She was essential to the show. But, even with it's faults, Fraiser is still one of the funniest shows to touch the small screen.

And last, but not least. Dr. Fraiser Crane. When he wasn't "listening", we were. Fraiser is the most underrated character of his own sitcom. Between Nile's obsession with the enchanting Daphne, and Martin and Roz's escapades. Fraiser is left a little lonely. But then how do I know that wasn't the envisioned plot?

Well I've prattled on for long enough. It's time for me to go. "Your listening is KACL 780. This is Dr. Fraiser Crane wishing you all good mental heath. And stay tuned for Bob 'Bulldog' Briscoe and the Gonzo Sports show."
