Just Brilliant!
27 November 2010
This movie is pure joy, musically and cinematically. Just the idea of having six drummers as terrorists, using everyday objects as instruments is so brilliant it doesn't even matter how good or bad the movie is. Fortunately this movie does great at both having an original idea, great characters and beautiful cinematography. The musical numbers is of course awesome, but also the plot line involving the policeman Warnebring is brilliant. You really feel for the character, even if he starts of as the bad guy(kind of), and you also root for him sometimes, even though he tries to stop the musicians. This is an amazing movie experience that I can recommend for everyone who has a heart(cheesy, but true), and can enjoy great cinema.

Sweden's first parody flick is actually very funny!
21 June 2010
Most people in the world don't know abut the Beck-series. Mostly swedes and Germans(for some reason) know about it. It is a show about a cop named Martin Beck and his partner Gunvald Larsson, solving crimes in the city of Stockholm. It's a dark show, with some funny moments such as Beck's neighbour always asking Beck if he wants a drink. The problem with the show is that it often becomes unintentionally silly and stupid, and it is very, very, very repetitive. If you watch one of the films you know what's going to happen in the next one. Still, it is part of the Swedish culture, but it is very easy to joke about. Hence, this movie.

This film is about Mårten Späck and Grünvald Karlsson investigating a serial-suicide-killer who's made 6 acts of suicide the past six months, it later turns out that there is a gang of people illegally copying movies(sounds better in Swedish). The jokes are obviously inspired from films like Airplane, Naked Gun and Hot Shots, which is a really nice exchange from movies like Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie or other Movie-movies. People have given it a lot of bash for being stupid and really uneven, but to tell you the truth, I don't care. I like stupid movies(not Scary Movie stupid, mind you) and most of the jokes are really funny. The Actors are great and in true Leslie Nielsen, they play their parts dead serious(most of them anyway). Some of the jokes fall flat, but they are easily forgiven.

Don't expect Mel Brooks or Airplane, but still enjoy this very funny parody.

Robin Hood (2010)

Epicness, just the way I like it.
14 May 2010
Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors. He has made two of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made(Alien, Blade Runner) and one of the greatest epics ever made(Gladiator). Then He made Kingsom of Heaven, which wasn't bad, but very shallow and soulless. Now, he's back in form and has given us another amazing epic. This movie tells the story of Robin Hood as Batman Begins told the story of Batman. We get to know his background and see how he became the famous outlaw. It starts just as Gladiator, with a great battle. After that it gets a little slow, only to get pumping awesome towards the end. The acting was great. Russell Crowe felt really stable and secure in the lead, Cate Blanchett was convincing and fascinating as Mais Marion and Mark Strong was of course great as the villain Godfrey. The one who steals the show, however, is Max Von Sydow. He is amazing as Marion's father-in-law and is both funny and moving. He really glows, and as a proud swede, it makes my heart warm. William Hurt doesn't do much and is easily forgotten and I was kind of disappointed they didn't show more of the Sheriff of Nottingham(played by Angus Macfadyen). However, the scenery, the cinematography and the music was just amazing and gave me lots of goosebumps, and the action-scenes were really well made. Just what you'd expect from Scott. A really enjoyable and entertaining epic, that makes your heart pound and your eyes glow. Screw Kevin Costner, this is the real Robin Hood.

The Mother of all comedy!
11 January 2010
I remember when I was 9 and my mom bought me "Life of Brian". I had no idea what it was and who the people in it were. But I have never laughed so hard at a movie before and even if I didn't understand all the jokes I loved it from the start.

After that I started looking for more movies by Monty Python including "Meaning of Life" and "The Holy Grail". Then, my dad bought me the film "And Now For Something Completely Different" which is when I realized that they had made a TV-show. I didn't know where to get a hold of it since it wasn't for sale and was never aired on television(in Sweden).

Then a few years ago they released it on DVD and I got it. What can I say, there are no words except for Brilliant! Fantastic! Hilarious! Spam! Unbelievable! and Awesome! The only complaint I have is for the fourth season in which John Cleese decided not to take part in. It's just not the same if someone's missing.

It's a real shame that Graham Chapman died, otherwise I think they would have made some more films.

R.I.P Graham Chapman and R.I.P. Monty Python.

Great and funny film-making.
10 December 2009
Ulf Malmros has made one of my favorite Swedish films. Smala Sussie. This one didn't live up to it, but was very close. First of all, great cinematography. I love the shots that follows the actors all around the place. Second of all, great script. Malmros is a great writer and this movie has a lot of quotable lines, most of them made by Kjell Bergquist. Which brings me to the third great thing about this movie, great acting. Everyone is just wonderful in their parts and are very well-casted. Especially Bergquist and Björn Starrin are fantastic. I really hope Ulf Malmros keeps making these wonderful films and I highly recommend this film for everyone!

I love the book, i love the movie
29 October 2008
I had just finished reading the book when i went to see this movie. I had big expectations, which i didn't want to have because than you can get disappointed, but oh my god was i happy when it was even better than i expected. Every second of the movie is just brilliant film-making, thanks to Tomas Alfredson who has proved that he is a master. Also the acting is great and believable, and the cinematography and music is beautiful. There was some things that i missed from the book that wasn't in the movie, but i expected that. This movie is a masterpiece and every single human being should see it. Well perhaps not every singe one since this is a horror movie, don't see it with your young ones.

Oh my god! This movie is so brilliant!
30 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I was reading some of the bad rewievs here and saw that that a lot of people didn't understand the movie and hated the ending. I just wanna say: WTF did you want? The beauty with the ending is that it's leaving you with questions, what happened to Anton Chiurgh after the car crash and did he kill Carla Jean Moss? We don't need to know that.

You can make your own ending in the head but you know that the good guy(Ed Tom Bell) lives which you can compare to Fargo in which it ends with seeing Marge and Norm Gunderson sitting in the bed watching TV after Carl Showalter, Jean Lundeegard and those people in Brainard is dead and Jerry Lundeegard and Gaer Grimsrud is arrested. We don't know what happens to Scotty but we know that the good person in the movie(Marge Gunderson lives. Which is the same as in No Country.

OK, know i'm just gonna say how good the movie was. The actors are beyond brilliant and amazing. Javier Bardem is so good, when he makes his uncomfortable smile, talks with a low voice which is almost whisperings and walks around with his injured leg, just brilliant. The Cinematography is beautiful and the directing is so F#%#ing perfect. Nothing beats the coens when it comes to do a movie with a great plot, interesting and sometimes crazy characters and making scenes so unpredictable. They are the best.

I'm 14 years old and i understood this movie and loved it for what it is. One of the best films ever made.

Hollywood adventure with a taste of Swedish drama
13 July 2008
This is a movie which is very much like a Hollywood adventure, but in Sweden. This movie could have been really bad if it wasn't for the good acting(Stellan Skarsgård, Bibi Andersson, Michael Nyquist, Gustaf Skarsgård, Sofia Helin and more), the wonderful music and some very good fighting scenes. It's nice too see a Swedish high-budget movie that can be seen by anyone who loves epic tales with good drama. Joakim Nätterqvist is surprisingly good in the leading role as Arn and he will probably become one of Sweden's next big stars. This is a very good movie that i can recommend to anyone who likes adventure, epic, drama and Swedish movies.

Brilliant, but not a comedy
7 July 2008
This is one of the best Swedish movies of all(which many agrees with) and Stellan Skarsgårds performance is really worth an Oscar, although i can't understand why some people call this a comedy. This is a sad drama about a gentle poor boy and an evil. Hans Alfrdsons script(based on his book) is solid and his direction great and he is also good as the evil man. This is a movie which a lot of people has seen in Sweden but almost no one outside of Sweden, which is sad because i think everyone in the world should take their time and see this wonderful movie which makes you cry and think. Watch out for Gösta Ekman as a driver.

Strong and Simple
27 April 2008
The first thing you notice with this film is that it is very beautifully filmed and has very strong music. Then you see Stormare do, probably one of his best roles in his career.

The story is simple, about a man and his nephew living in northern Sweden, driving snow scooters and living next to the rein deers. One night a wolf(varg in Swedish) kills a few of the rein deers and the hunt begins.

This movie is a simple but very strong movie about loyalty and Stormare is partly why you want too see this film. But you can also see it because it is a beautiful bit of Swedish film.

Best Swedish movie for a long, long time!
18 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
When i went to see this movie, i thought it would be a great movie, but when i had watched it it was much better. It starts like a feel-good comedy, with dance scenes and songs, then it slowly, slowly walks down to be a kind of sad drama. Of course at the end you sit in the cinema with a big smile on your face, and thinks "i have to see this one again". Anyway it is a very smart movie, with many surrealistic scenes, for example a the playground, when Halim is making groups out of the pupils. The actors are great, especially Hassan Brijany who plays Halims father. The music is enjoyable and the script is very funny(based on the book by: Johan Hassen Khemiri), and at the end a perfect drama/comedy.

A nice and kind "Zozo"
13 February 2007
If you have Zozo, you can say that this is kind of like it, except that Zozo is a very serious and realistic movie, when this is more like a "feelgood" movie about a boy that want to be an athlete like Kajsa Bergkvist. He comes to Sweden, away from the war in his country, in the start it's very hard to live in the new country, but he's starting to grip the situation and gets a lot of friends and respect. I liked this movie, it was fun sometimes and the actors was good, and sometimes brilliant, especially the little boy(played by the infamous Ali Ali) and the hot dog-man(played by the wonderful actor Peter Stormare), but(and this is a big "but")the movie was far to short, and it did'not got the energy that a movie must have.

The best, by the best!
1 February 2007
This is my #"/¤)&#¤ favourite movie of all time. It's about a guy, named Jeffrey Lebowski(but almost everyone calls him "The Dude"), who has been mixed up whit another guy, that is also named Jeff Lebowski, he is "The big Lebowski". The big Lebowski's wife owns money to a porno producer, and then The big Lebowskis wife is kidnapped! The Dude is being the currier to the money that they are giving to the kidnappers (that is 1 million dollars), but The Dudes best friend Walter Sobchak gets the brilliant idea that they can keep all the money for themselves.

The Coen brothers has made a movie that is impossible not to love, the characters, like The Dude(Jeff Bridges), Walter Sobchak(John Goodman), Donny(Steve Buscemi) and so on, is so original that you laugh at them, just by looking at them, and that i tell ya ain't bad, That this did'not won any Oscar is a big mystery. I now many people does'not think this, and i now that many people do think this, that this movie is better then Fargo(also made by Coen brothers), i mean Fargo was brilliant and it's also one of my favorites, but i think this is a little better, as i said, it's my #/&)&=& favourite!
