I totally get why this series-elect lasted barely a season. It's premise and plot were all wrong.
It's more Acting 101 for wannabe's. Which a few of the contestants Mercedes, Donna, and Katie absolutely were NOT.
All 3 had experience on-camera; Donna a model. The judges breakdown "decisions" were not always on-tact. In fact I call BS with over half of Dunaway's 'critique' over performances like Katie's during the final screen test of One Tree Hill, calling her "wooden" and "manufactured" when there were literally dozens of methods for playing that emotional scene!
Donna could act as well as her modeling career, and got cut too short. Katie had promise with more training. Michelynne was not the rightful winner, which should have gone to Mercedes (for reasons mentioned)
Overall, this series was a prospect. But fell very short in its premise as a 'Star Search' which it was not. For at least in Star Search and other more modern competitions, the judges were more realistic in their giving's instead of unnecessary cutthroat that doesn't happen during actual classes and workshops designed to strengthen students into paths more correct for them.
