cold picture about a kind of Julien Sorel. ambiguous end. interesting acting. result - a cold, gray image from East. it is a film about success. about appearances, ways to obtain it, about lost of conscience, more a parable than pure adaptation. Rene Bitorajac does a splendid job as the doctor of the present moment, materialistic, cynical, cruel in strange manner, selfish and victim of a circle who, at first sigh, protect him.but it is not a film about illusions. only about a form of survive who reminds others films from East - the Romanians are only an example - for present a too honest, direct picture of reality in a kind of naturalism as revenge against the Communist regime ideological pressure. a film from East. who reminds the presence of demons from many of its viewers.
one of nice films about high school in easy manner. good looking actors, sentimental chaotic existence, an error and the pieces of strong friendship. nothing original but a smart script and few not bad actors are pillars for a comedy who could be good choice for an evening Sunday. the confusion as basis of the events, the levels of love, the life of characters as bricks of same circle, the hilarious situations and the realistic characteristics of heroes are interesting details for not a great film but surely a seductive one. the gay impulse does the story different by many films from same genre and Josh Charles is an inspired option for the role of Eddy. in same measure,the rude Stuart by Stephen Baldwin is realistic and almost soul of story.

not an ordinary adaptation. the spirit of many contemporary French films. Mathieu Amalric using same tools to build his character. a Simenon in different manner. a cold film about relationship and decisions, about guilty and events who has a strange touching manner to surprise the viewer not for evolution of events but for the attitudes of characters. a film of silence and guilty out of facts. because it preserves the Greek mark of destiny, the poetry of things, the emotions as a kind of fog. nothing clear, each detail as part of a sort of ambiguity and slow rhythm of events. a film with a specific target who could seems be boring for many. but useful with few drops of patience. and with a crumb of interest for Simenon universe.
seduction is its first virtue. for cast, for story, for small details, for the performances and atmosphere. the second level is the mixture of romanticism and drama. smart, precise, interesting. a nice story about an obscure moment who not has the purpose to be credible or impressive but a coherent answer to an old challenge in a decent manner. the humor, the drops of English novel, Dustin Hoffman in a perfect role, Vanessa Redgrave as a special sketch of an Agatha Christie, the music and dialogs are good ingredients of a mixture of nostalgia and fake history. a film who must see not exactly for artistic value but for a state of soul. because it is not about a writer's life episode but about emotions, decisions and choices.
Public Enemies (2009)
the only sin is the manner to present the story. not the absence of inspiration but the lost of courage to transform it in more than adaptation from American event from inter-war period. and the sin is great for the use of great actors from sketches of characters. but, despite that, it is not a bad film. the good parts are not small and the work of actors for give more credibility to characters remains meritorious. but the story is not seductive and remains only a cold story. despite large possibilities. despite the delicate flavor of atmosphere. its virtue - beginning point for discover an American history episode. is it enough ? maybe not. but that is the basic thing who remains after the end of Public Enemies show.
American Psycho (2000)
more than a good film, it is a wise one. because it has the gift to be not only a correct adaptation but occasion for each actor to do the best job. it is a rare exploration of a novel's nuances. and that fact does it almost an experience for public who discover slices from Tarantino universe and a Christian Bale in the skin of one of his memorable roles. a film about a strange man at the border between reality and imagination. a solid script and inspired music. and absolute superb rhythm of story . so, must see it. not only for artistic virtues but for the manner to create the details. and for the way for transform the images of novel in something real impressive.
not great but...
it is not one of ordinaries horrors but, in same measure, it represents expression of interesting good intentions. not credible at all but decent and interesting exercise to define the relation between every day life and religion. more than the script, it is seductive the acting. for the manner to discover the complexity of characters, for the art to be out by Hollywood recipes, for the science to not be exactly another part from The Exorcist imitations. a film about an accident, not real convincing for theologian but useful for rating. few good actors. and a kind of trip for discover the truth. not one of films in war against the Church. not scene for special effects. but a story who seems almost honest.that is all.
a Pratchett 's novel adaptation represents always a challenge. because, in this case, the result of imagination has not only two dimensions. so, difficult work. but Hogfather seems be more than a good job. it remains a strange, seductive mixture of new pieces, the delicacy for create fairy tale atmosphere, good acting and smart script. it is this kind of film who gives more than one gift in a special manner. because it is introduction to an unique writer universe. because it has a kind of magic who reminds old truths and new manners to understand basic things. because it is a form of wise lesson about the root of life. and, sure, because it has the right actors for transform a book in a film with high dose of seduction.
a comedy. not great, not bad, not ordinary. because it reflects, in same measure, the spirit of a period, a form of entertainment and the art of a director. its origin - the stories by Petre Dulfu, a Romanian national folklore explorer. after years it seems fake. but, for 1974 , it represents enjoy source. naive, childish, with horrible, for our time, artistic solutions, far by status of serious work, it has the gift to remember to generations of Romanian viewers, the seductive taste of childhood. and that is the cause for Pacala to be the memorable role of Sebastian Papaiani and one of popular comedy . sure, the acting is not great, the script is a kind of stories collection but the charm is out of doubt. for different forms of humor. and for the large slices of innocence.
Soldat i ptitsa (2013)

from many others. wise, seductive, simple. a soldier, a duty, a travel, two meetings and a solution. nothing special. but beautiful for its virtue because it is a nice mixture of Russian folklore and animation. like many fairy tales - only remember about the poor wise man and his original solutions, about the search of the key for problem's solution, inspired music and delicate drawing. and a character who remains in memory like a kind of oasis. nothing new, nothing special. only a Russian story. about a soldier, a duty and a bird. all in the flavor of wise lesson about life and about its solutions. maybe, only a parable. like many others fairy tales, in Russian style.
