No, Whoopi Goldberg hasn’t left The View to pursue life as a nun. It’s the 30th anniversary of Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and Goldberg shared something special with The View audience members by reuniting adult and kid cast members of the musical sequel’s ensemble for a spirited performance. For the musical number, Goldberg dressed in full nun attire, reprising her iconic role as Sister Mary Clarence from the delightful crime comedy franchise. With primary members of the original cast, including Kathy Najimy and Ryan Toby, with The War and Treaty singer Tanya Trotter taking the part of Lauryn Hill, the choir performed ‘Oh Happy Day’ and ‘Joyful, Joyful’ from the beloved film. The performance brought Goldberg to tears as the choir concluded their version of ‘Joyful, Joyful.’

Whoopi Goldberg celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” by reuniting the movie’s cast on “The View” — and not just her adult co-stars like Kathy Najimy. Goldberg gathered many of the kid actors who made up the choir in the movie and recreated the scene in which her character, Sister Mary Clarence, conducts them in a soulful rendition of “Oh Happy Day.”
Lead vocalist Ryan Toby, who played the young Ahmal in the movie, returned to sing “Oh Happy Day” with Goldberg 30 years later. The co-stars also sang “Joyful, Joyful” from the film, with The War and Treaty singer Tanya Trotter taking over vocals from Lauryn Hill, who did not participate in the reunion. Hill’s role as the talented choir singer Rita Louise Watson served as a breakthrough for her. Goldberg broke down in tears after the “Joyful, Joyful” reunion performance.

Update, with video: Whoopi Goldberg has made no secret in recent years of people she’d like to cast in her long-in-the-works Sister Act 3 project, from original Sister costars Jenifer Lewis and Kathy Najimy to Jimmy Fallon, Charlamagne Tha God, Lizzo, Keke Palmer, and Nicki Minaj, and today she added another old friend to the list: Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Ralph, who appeared in 1993’s Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, seemed delighted if perhaps too overwhelmed with emotion to give an official answer when, during an appearance on today’s The View, Goldberg invited the Abbott Elementary star to take part in both a planned View reunion of Sister Act vets and the hoped-for second sequel to the original 1992 comedy.
“You know, we’re in the process of putting together 3,” Goldberg said toward the end of Ralph’s visit. “Will you come be part of it, whatever it is?...

Mick Jagger joined Jimmy Fallon for a skit on The Tonight Show in which he confirmed that he did, in fact, once get some satisfaction. In the clip, Jagger and Fallon get locked in a walk-in freezer and begin to spill their deepest secrets thinking they are trapped there forever (the sketch is aptly named “Freezer Secrets”).
“One time I did get satisfaction,” Jagger admitted to Fallon in reference to the Rolling Stones’ 1965 hit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” “Way back in 1992.”

Bad Bunny made his SNL debut tonight and it’s every Latin American’s Spanglish dream come true. From his shout-out to Sabado Gigante—the Spanglish-language game show that aired for 53 years on Univision—to his hilarious collaborations with Marcello Hernandez and special appearances by fellow Latinos Fred Armisen and Pedro Pascal, as well as fellow superstars, Mick Jagger and Lady Gaga.
Networks and streamers take note. This is one of many great examples of what our community wants to see more of in TV and film. While many of us did grow up watching Spanish-language television, we live in a very bilingual world. Witnessing Bad Bunny on an American TV institution such as SNL was not only refreshing but absolutely hilarious. Bravo.

If you thought last week’s Season 49 premiere of Saturday Night Live was star-studded, featuring host Pete Davidson, musical performer Ice Spice, and cameos by the ubiquitous A-list couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, well, the sketch-comedy show’s second episode would not be outdone.
Following a cold open with a hilarious Bowen Yang as baby-carrying George Santos, Emmy-nominated The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal joined host/musical guest Bad Bunny for his monologue (and in another sketch with his overprotective Latina mother), and Lady Gaga (!) introduced Bad Bunny’s musical performance.

For the last two days, Whoopi Goldberg has been absent from her moderator seat on The View, with co-host Joy Behar repeatedly teasing a revelation on Monday, Oct. 16, of just where in the world Goldberg is, and what’s she doing there?
Today, Goldberg pretty much spoiled the mystery by posting an Instagram video from St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City and revealing that she’d just met Pope Francis.
The reason for the trip, apparently, is the long-in-coming Sister Act 3.
Watch the video below.
“Maybe, since you’re seeing everything, you’re figuring out what I’m doing here,” Goldberg said, “but picture Sister Act and all the nuns standing here, waiting for the Pope to come out. Maybe that’s going to happen in the new movie. You don’t know. You never know, but we are in Rome, and I am in Vatican City. What could I be doing?...

Keke Palmer wants to take on more action roles now that she’s had her son. And on her fitness journey she plans to avoid setting “unrealistic” body standards.
During a new episode of Palmer’s podcast “Baby, this is Keke Palmer,” the actress, singer and producer detailed how she’s always wanted to tackle comedy and action, which she said she was able to do in Jordan Peele’s latest flick “Nope.” After welcoming her son Leodis back in February, Palmer said her extra weight ended up being her strength as it relates to working out.
“It gave me so much more to work with and mold with,” Palmer said, mentioning that didn’t want to foster the ongoing “snapback” trend women are often subjected to.
“I just had the baby and they want me to be this representation of, ‘As a mom, you can blah, blah, blah!” Palmer said.

"It's a huge thing for me in more ways than one, directing and writing for the first time as well as actually being able to tell my story," she told HuffPost on the day of the project's release, adding that she "didn't budge on any aspect of putting this together. I really was fully sound and clear in my mind and what I wanted for this, and I followed through in a way that I never did before. I think it's easy to just get sidetracked and just give up. Independent studio Wiip (Mare of Easttown, Dickinson) has acquired rights to the novel — which made several best books of 2022 lists — and will develop it as a TV series. Playwright and screenwriter Madhuri Shekar is set to adapt the story and will serve as an executive producer.
“I worked on this novel for 13 years, during which I often fantasized about the on-screen version I’d get to watch one day: how big and dramatic and genre-twisty I imagined it would be,” said Vara, a former business editor at The New Yorker, in a statement. “That this is actually on its way to happening — and with a dream team of colleagues whose work I so admire, including the visionary Madhuri Shekar at the writing helm — could not be more exciting.”

The actor and comedian appeared on Friday’s (6 January) edition of Loose Women in a special interview with panellist Judi Love.
Goldberg spoke about a variety of topics, including the release of her new film Till, based on the true story of the racist killing of 14-year-old Emmett Till in the US in 1955.

Lizzo is way ahead of the game when it comes to the season of giving! The Grammy-nominated singer gave her fan a surprise of a lifetime after she posted a video on TikTok asking the pop star if they could wear one of her dresses.
In late October, Atlanta-based writer, poet, and essayist Aurielle Marie made a video on TikTok with a specific goal – getting Lizzo’s attention to request a favor. The 2022 Georgia Author of the Year was celebrating a huge year of wins: they’d published their first poetry collection, Gumbo Ya Ya, which Marie described to be “about growing up fat, Black, and queer in the South.” The collection garnered several honors, including the Cave Canem poetry award.
Most importantly, Marie had been chosen as one of Out 100’s LGBTQ+ Literary and Publishing stars of the year and needed a stellar dress for the ceremony in New York.

Nicki Minaj rang in her son’s second birthday with an animated affair! The “Super Freaky Girl” rapper went all-out with a “Minions”-themed backyard bash on Monday in honour of the occasion.
“On 9/30/22 you turned 2,” Minaj wrote in tribute to her little one, Papa Bear, whom she shares with husband Kenneth Petty. “Your Dad and I love you so much. You make us so happy. You’re perfect. Thank you for giving mama new meaning to life. God cover you. Always.”
In one photo, the happy family poses in front of a larger-than-life balloon wall and festive cake. Minaj wears a long, pink wig that nearly reaches her knees and a glittering Chanel jumpsuit. As partygoers sing “Happy Birthday” to the toddler — dressed fashionably in jeans, black sneakers and a varsity jacket — Minaj adds a pink fringe jacket to her ensemble.

Nicki Minaj is getting real about her thoughts on the current state of music. The "Super Freaky Girl" rapper spoke to Jada Pinkett Smith for Interview Magazine's fall 2022 cover story, published on Oct. 18, where the two discussed motherhood, business, and the former being labeled as "sexy." However, Minaj couldn't help but also share her music opinions as well, particularly in regard to the sound artists are adopting now - and how it sounds all too familiar.
"They lose me when I'm seeing the person who they are trying to be like or sound like more than I'm seeing who they are."
"What I'm seeing now is that so many new artists are trying to become the person they looked up to instead of giving us a new flavor! And it's irking the crap out of me!" Minaj told Pinkett Smith. "I know I could see so much talent in some of the new artists,...

Bill Murray’s on-set behavior has crossed the streams, with numerous accounts of misconduct, both fresh and rehashed, popping up in the news cycle. And it’s not just co-workers that are allegedly falling victim: it’s entire productions, too. Notably, the Aziz Ansari-directed Being Mortal is in limbo. However, co-star Keke Palmer seems optimistic on how cameras can get rolling again.
At the Academy Museum Gala this past weekend, Keke Palmer said, “If somebody could figure it out, it would be Aziz…Obviously, we got cut short at a certain point but I will say that I am pretty devastated. It’s an amazing film. If there is some way to be able to complete, salvage it, I would want to do it.” She continued, “[Ansari] would probably have to do a major rewrite, but I know what we got was gold.”

Sound the horns, set off the fireworks! "Sister Act 3" is approaching! That's right, everyone's wildest movie dream seems to finally be coming true: Whoopi Goldberg will don the habit once again.
"Sister Act" is the story of a Reno lounge singer who gets put into witness protection in a San Francisco nunnery. This absurd and seemingly trite fish out of water setup actually lends itself to a surprisingly funny and heartfelt movie. Audiences agreed, as "Sister Act" was one of the most successful comedies of the '90s, spawning a sequel just one year later and even a Broadway show.
Now, after a couple of apparent false starts, it appears a new addition to the "Sister Act" franchise is on its way, more than twenty years after the original film. While previous rumors indicated that Goldberg wouldn't be involved, it seems that this time she is fully on board...

“Sister Act 3” is on the way.
Whoopi Goldberg, who played Deloris in the beloved ’90s flicks, was asked about the upcoming sequel during an interview with Charlamagne tha God on Thursday’s episode of his Comedy Central talk series “Hell of a Week”.
Goldberg insisted, “It is happening. It takes everything a very long time. We should get the script by the end of this month.
“Hopefully we’ll get it together and get it done sooner rather than later,” “The View” panellist went on.
“I’m going to ask for Keke [Palmer] to come in. I want everybody to come in. I want Lizzo to come in. I want everybody. I want the girl with the chest, what’s her name?… Nicki [Minaj]! I want Nicki to come. I want everybody.
“I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really, desperately need to have some fun.

Sister Act 3: Whoopi Goldberg reveals cast wishlist as she is set to be back in black in a new entry
It’s time to get back in the habit…again! Deadline gives us the lowdown on the final chapter in the Sister Act trilogy. Whoopi Goldberg is, of course, slated to reprise her role as Sister Mary Clarence, and this time, she’s been dropping some names of who she’d like to join the sisterhood with her. Whoopi was last seen in her popular role in the 1993 film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which featured an ensemble of teen cast members which included a pre-music breakout Lauryn Hill and a pre-fame Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Goldberg was recently on the Charlamagne Tha God Comedy Central show, Hell of a Week when she spoke about the new ensemble she’d like to assemble for this entry. “I want everybody,” Goldberg said when asked about casting. “I want as many people who want to have some fun because I really,...

Whoopi Goldberg is sharing her desire to work on the long-awaited Sister Act 3 that was announced back in 2020. The View co-host welcomed Jenifer Lewis to the ABC talk show and reminded her that they still had the movie pending.
“You know we’re still going to do that movie,” Goldberg told her Sister Act co-star as she sat down on the “Hot Topics” table. “And I’d do everything I can to work with her because she’s fun.”
Lewis said she was “so ready” to film the sequel set for Disney+ and revealed that it was her who taught Goldberg how to sing on the movie set.
“They were going to use my voice and I told Whoopi, ‘Look, you just get in this mirror with the two of us, and you just get a hairbrush and pretend that we’re 15 years old singing Gladys Knight and the Pips,...

Keke Palmer has never been afraid to shoot her shot for a role, but this time the fans are doing it for her!
A video of the “Nope” actress showing off different outfits for Vogue sparked a conversation about casting her as a comic-book hero when Palmer briefly appears in a black leather outfit and says she’s “manifesting a superhero role” because it would make a perfect costume. While many of the suggestions were the popular casting choices for Black actresses – regardless of personality – one particular fan’s idea went viral.
TikToker @jacobfordridgway noted that although suggestions like Storm and Bumblebee were understandable, Palmer would work best in a role that tapped into her real-life superpower – her vivaciousness.

One thing about Keke Palmer is that she's always going to get herself hired - or at least try! When Palmer stopped by The View on Nov. 10, she took the opportunity to ask cohost Whoopi Goldberg for "any role" in Sister Act 3. "Now Whoopi, I gotta shoot my shot, like I did with Issa [Rae] a little bit ago," Palmer said, referring to how she was recently hired to be on season five of Insecure. She continued, "I heard that Tyler Perry is doing Sister Act 3, and I just want you to know that I'm available for the job. Any job. I mean, you ain't got to say nothing now, you know, I'll send you an email or something. Just let me know if you need me."
After Palmer made her case, Goldberg looked at her and let her know she was one step ahead of her. "I already brought it up.

Bus in the nun choir and get ready to sing along with Whoopi Goldberg as she makes her triumphant return in "Sister Act 3." The belated threequel has brought on board Madhuri Shekar ("Welcome to the Blumhouse: Evil Eye") to write the script and Tim Federle ("High School Musical: The Musical: The Series") to direct.
We first heard tell of "Sister Act 3" back in 2018, and at that point Goldberg and her representatives said she wasn't involved, which sort of defeats the whole purpose of "Sister Act." It was exactly 30 years ago when Whoopi Goldberg won her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing the wise psychic Oda Mae Brown in the supernatural love story “Ghost.” Thanks to her gig co-hosting and moderating the Emmy-winning daytime talk show “The View,” Goldberg is in the rare stratosphere of Egot recipients, combining her Emmy, Oscar, Tony (for producing “Thoroughly Modern Millie”), and Grammy (for her one-woman comedy album).
Now, Goldberg is looking back on her legacy thanks to a new cover story featured in Variety. Goldberg, who is widely regarded as one of the best Oscars hosts of all time, now serves on the board of governors for the actors’ branch. When she’s not hosting “The View” or gearing up to reprise her role as Deloris Van Cartier in “Sister Act 3” for Disney+, Goldberg is apparently working on writing a script of her own.
