With every passing season, Amazon Prime’s adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson’s The Boys seems to be playing “can you top this?” in terms of going where no other heroic series has not dared to go.
The third season, out on disc just months before the fourth season drops, mainly focuses on the increasingly callous Homelander (Antony Star) fighting Starlight (Erin Moriarty) for the heart and soul of The Seven. When Vought named her co-leader, he was far from thrilled and let everyone know. The group of underground heroes – led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) trying to take down Homelander and expose their sponsor’s corruption almost seems sidelined this season.
There were interesting twists and turns across the eight episodes, such as Butcher’s protégé Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) working with Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) at the Fbsa (Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs). His romance with Starlight remains rocky,...

The Boys universe is shaping up nicely after Gen V arrived with force and introduced a new development bound to shake things up.
While Gen V was billed as a spin-off with a much younger cast of characters, they have proven that they can handle themselves, and some of them might be ready to occupy the much-coveted spot in The Seven.
Gen V Season 1 Episode 8 was a wild episode that saw the partial resolution of some storylines.
Many existing storylines took a turn as they prepared the characters for their debut in the flagship series.
While the episode was fun to watch, the ending was quite cryptic.
Why Were Sam and Cate Called The New Guardians of Godolkin?
The descent into supe-remacy by Cate and Sam was so quick. If someone didn't pay attention, they would miss it.
One moment had Sam trying to stay sane, and the next, he...

This article contains spoilers for The Boys and Gen V.
Between the original series and the latest spinoff Gen V, The Boys universe has done a great job thus far of showing us the insidiousness of Vought and the supe-fueled culture that they’ve fabricated. However, the difference in perspective that these companion shows give us helps to paint an even broader picture of just how much Compound V has impacted the lives of supes and humans alike, and just how much work Vought has done over decades to normalize it.
The Boys has dipped its toes into showing us the physical cost that having superpowers can take through A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and the heart attack he suffers after overdosing on Compound V to enhance his powers. Even though he recovers, he has to limit the use of his abilities for a while, which threatens his position in The Seven...

Gen V's freshman season has been full of ups and downs, and sometimes, the story can be frustrating to follow along, let alone get invested in.
Some of the decisions that have been made regarding the characters and plot points have been genuinely disappointing and might amount to crimes against the show.
But one thing the show has not been is boring. It has been a nice ride with the numerous shocking scenes, wild action, and enticing ships. Gen V Season 1 Episode 8 completed this part of the ride by delivering a fantastic season finale.
With this show, one can never know what to expect. It can be a good thing, or it can sink the ship.
I stopped trying to figure out where the story was headed a long time ago, and maybe for the better, because Gen V Season 1 Episode 7 took a turn and had the narrative going in another direction.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V episode 7.
Heads rolled (well popped) in the latest episode of Gen V, as Prime Videos’s The Boys spinoff delivered an action-packed penultimate episode that tied neatly into its bigger brother. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed (via EW) that the Gen V finale will include a “handoff” to The Boys season 4, and with some significant cameos during “Sick”, things are starting to come together.
The Gen V trailer teased the return of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, with the head-popping politician stopping by Godolkin University to put one of her sinister schemes into play. Having thrown Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) under the bus in The Boys season 3, she’s now on the way to the White House as a vice presidential candidate. Although we were on the money that Neuman was the mysterious benefactor of Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), that...

In the world of Prime Video’s The Boys, superheroes – or supes as they’re not-so-affectionately called – are a part of normal, everyday life. But these supes aren’t naturally born, they’re created by Vought Industry’s Compound V serum. Even though Vought does their best to control who does and does not become a supe, they don’t have control over how abilities manifest in people who take Compound V.
This leads to a wide variety of powers among the supes on the show, including those in the prestigious superhero group known as The Seven. With so many superpowered characters appearing in both large and small roles throughout the series, it can be hard to keep track of what exactly everyone can do. Here is a handy guide breaking down the powers of The Seven,...

Class is in session over at Godolkin University, as Eric Kripke’s world of The Boys expands into Gen V. Based on the “We Gotta Go Now” arc of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys comics, Gen V is also inspired by Marvel’s X-Men and introduces us to a young crop of wannabe supes.
We’re five episodes into Gen V season 1, and as we head into our final exams, there are enemies coming from all sides at Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and her classmates. Although we know Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is on the way to cause trouble, viewers have used their Tek Knight-inspired powers of perception to sniff out another potential crossover between Gen V and its bigger brother.

They are deranged, egotistical, maniacal, careless, carefree, narcissistic, powerful, and just about any adjective one can use to describe the complex superheroes of The Boys' world.
Every season of The Boys is more mind-boggling than its predecessor; one wonders how they come up with some of this stuff.
And it would seem their minds know no bounds because the people behind The Boys decided there was more to be said about nasty twisted superheroes. How about tracing their evolution from when people usually learn about themselves?
And thus, the idea behind Gen V was born.
The official series synopsis teases:

When it comes to television, The Boys is a whole other caliber of superhero show. A satirical sting that knocks on the world’s obsession with superheroes, the Amazon Prime series is a benchmark in a genre that has become increasingly crowded. Part of that reason is due to Homelander, who is masterfully played by Anthony Starr. The leader of The Seven is the perfect example of what would happen if Clark Kent wasn’t the mild, mannered nice guy portrayed in the comics. Up until episode four, it’s clear that Homelander isn’t the kind of superhero the public feels he is.

As well as pop-idol-turned-prolific-action-star Goss, the film also features much-loved 80s pop star Sinitta and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt; as well Charlie Clapham,...

“You wait your whole career for everything to come together the way that this one has, and a lot of it is luck,” admitted The Boys showrunner Erik Kripke of the acclaim achieved by the Amazon Prime Video series based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s hardcore, satirical, political and extremely poignant comic series. “The right subject matter, that has a lot of different layers and depth to it, [and] that happens to be talking about the exact second we’re living in.”
Riding high and with its third season deep in production, The Boys, executive produced by Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the upcoming Emmys, as well as in several more categories including Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Rebecca Sonnenshine’s work on the Season 2 finale.

“There’s very few people who direct who have never done anything before so everyone brings something to the table,” director Sarah Boyd shares about the value of bringing a certain skill set to the director’s chair, which in her case was years as an editor on some of the most high profile series on television. That included “Bates Motel,” “The Killing” and “Lost” (for which she was nominated for two Emmys), and now Boyd has successfully pivoted into directing on “This Is Us,” “The Flash” and “The Boys,” on which she helmed the acclaimed sixth episode of the show’s second season (entitled “The Bloody Doors Off”).
“An editor can bring something very useful to the table,” Boyd declares. “You’ve seen what works and what doesn’t you’ve seen some of the pitfalls of some great directors doing things that maybe they wasted their time not needing to do,...

In Heartbeat (wt), the money is flowing, the bottles are popping and music is cranking. A DJ, (M.O.S.), and a former corporate exec, (Kiss), share an instant connection and bond over music at the popular NYC nightclub where they both work. Sinclair will play Marie, one of the young superheroes. She joins Lizze Broadway, who plays fellow young superhero Emma.
Written by The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg, the Untitled The Boys Spinoff is set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International). It is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.

What’s a classic TV sitcom without a catchy theme song?
While Marvel’s first TV effort, WandaVision, is not a classic (yet) nor a sitcom, it does seek to lovingly recreate beloved TV legends like The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, and more. And to that end, it’s brought in a pair of songwriting titans to pen some irrepressible jingles.
Before breaking the pattern in the world-expanding fourth episode, WandaVision’s first three episodes were each accompanied by a new tune to play over the opening credits. Each of these theme songs closely mirror the style of that episode’s respective decade. The first is a sunny ‘50s number featuring lyrics like “She’s a magical gal in a small town locale. He’s a hubby who’s part machine.” The second is a largely lyric-less take on the bubbly Bewitched opener. The third is a very expository ‘70s tune.

Movies and TV are guilty of many inaccuracies, but few are worse than their portrayals of corsets.
“Netflix released Bridgerton on Christmas Day, and while it’s not meant to be a strictly historical portrayal of Regency life, the big inaccuracy that caught my eye just from the trailer was the costumes. Not only did the show seem to be using costumes from different centuries, with typical Regency looks from around the late eighteen-teens mashed against much earlier looks from forty years prior, but they also did the thing I hate in period movies and made a joke about a woman not being able to breathe in a corset.”
Read more at The Mary Sue.
The Boys‘ character Stormfront is a personification of the modern day Neo-Nazi movement, and a dose of reality in the escapism that is the superhero genre.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys Season 2, Snowpiercer and Knives Out.
A new deepfake that shows us what Chris Evans would look like as Homelander over on Amazon’s smash hit series The Boys has prompted a discussion online about whether the Captain America star would be able to nail the villainous role or not.
Evans, who played Steve Rogers across three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has certainly been no stranger to playing against type in the past. Last year, we saw him as the murderous Ransom Drysdale in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, and he was almost unrecognisable as a mob hitman in 2012’s underrated crime drama, The Iceman, opposite Michael Shannon. And, hey, let’s take a beat to remember the man was a literal baby-eater in Snowpiercer, but when it comes to The Boys’ ultraviolent Homelander, the internet isn’t quite sure if Evans could pull it off.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys Season 2 finale
When we last saw Homelander, he wasn’t in a good place. At the end of The Boys Season 2, we parted ways with him angrily wanking over the city after his Nazi girlfriend Stormfront got her limbs lasered off by his own son. Little Ryan then chose to embrace the thorn in his side, Billy Butcher, over him. As the narcissistic leader of The Seven loudly repeated the phrase “I can do whatever I want!” we witnessed a deadly prologue for Season 3, according to Homelander actor Antony Starr.
“There are two words that Eric has said to me about Season 3,” Starr told Collider. “His description for Homelander Season 3 was, ‘Two words, homicidal maniac.’ That’s all I know.”

Boy, did “The Boys” cast get a big surprise during their virtual New York Comic Con panel on Thursday when Shaquille O’Neal Zoom-bombed the online Q&a to throw in his own question and make a very big request.
“We actually are going to throw to a surprise video question from somebody who is a ‘Boys’ superfan and an NBA superstar and many other things with the word super in them,” Amazon Prime Video series’ showrunner, Eric Kripke, said, before cutting to a video.
“I want to be part of The Seven,” Shaq demanded. “I also want to know who is the biggest prankster on the set. Let me know. Let me know. The No. 1 power that I possess is I can transform any time. Who is the biggest prankster on the set? I want to know now, or I will release the power. Make me part of The Seven now.

CBS News is looking for a new executive producer for its A.M. program, “CBS This Morning,” after executive producer Diana Miller decided to leave the program for personal reasons.
“The show will continue to be led by Claudia Milne and Jon Tower, who have been doing a fantastic job, while we look for a successor,” said CBS News President Susan Zirinsky, in a statement. “We greatly appreciate all of the contributions Diana has made to ‘CBS This Morning.’ All of us here wish her the very best and support her in this difficult decision.”
Miller’s departure was reported previously by The New York Post.
Her exit is the latest transition at the CBS morning program, which has flown through some turbulence since its inception in 2012. Miller took the reins of the program in April of 2019, as CBS reworked its lineup, moving from a quartet of Gayle King, Norah O’Donnell,...

During the final minutes of the penultimate episode of The Boys’ second season, ‘Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker’, there was a mad scramble when a crucial courtroom showdown set up by Mallory and our gang went very badly awry.
The plan seemed fairly fool proof: with help from the series’ very own version of Aoc, Congresswomen Victoria Neuman, the team would force retired Vought scientist Dr. Jonah Vogelbaum – key in the creation of supes like Homelander – to testify about the company’s history of experiments with Compound V; experiments that are still being carried out at the secret Sage Grove Center facility, where Vought is trying to stabilize its effects on adults.
Unfortunately, just as Vogelbaum (John Doman) started to spill the beans while the world watched, the judge who was presiding over the hearing got his damn head exploded, and then Vogelbaum suffered the same fate,...

After last week’s offbeat slate of home media releases, things are back on track this Tuesday, with a wildly eclectic assortment of titles headed home just in time for the Halloween season. If somehow you haven’t been adding any of the Blumhouse movies to your home collections over the years, you can now play catch-up rather easily with their Blumhouse of Horrors: 10-Movie Collection. Vinegar Syndrome is once again doing the dark lord’s work with their releases of Pandemonium and The Caller, and Severin Films is showing some love to both Cruel Jaws and Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, too.
Scream Factory has put together a brand new collector’s edition Blu-ray for Ghost Ship that arrives this week, and if you’re someone who digs on “banana pants” cinematic experiences, you’ll definitely want to pick up Agfa’s Blu-ray for Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things.

The Season 2 finale of The Boys is in our crosshairs, but first we’ve got a penultimate episode that will dial up the tension between our scrappy gang and The Seven even further.
In the trailer for episode 7, ‘Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker’, Butcher (Karl Urban) investigates a little deeper behind the scenes for Victoria Neuman – The Boys’ own version of Aoc – and continues to wonder if Becca’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) could turn into a bad egg, just like his dad. Meanwhile, Homelander (Antony Starr) introduces his new fascist bae Stormfront (Aya Cash) to Ryan, much to Becca’s dismay, and outs Starlight (Erin Moriarty) as a mole in The Seven, publicly branding her a traitor. Hughie (Jack Quaid) turns to his new supe acquaintance Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) to get Annie out of danger, but it’s an extremely risky gambit.

It’s safe to say that Stormfront (Aya Cash) has irons in the fire, having been around long enough to carry out Vought plans effortlessly and with psychopathic precision, and in the fifth episode of The Boys Season 2, we find out that she’s installed former The Seven member Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) in a hospital working undercover for her – but to what end?
In ‘We Gotta Go Now’, we get our first introduction to the Green Lantern-esque Lamplighter in a brief scene that aligns him with the despicable Stormfront, but that also gives us an inkling that all is not well when it comes to his wavering psyche and ongoing loyalty to Vought.
“No one ever said the job was easy,” says Stormfront on a catch-up call between herself and the ‘retired’ Lamplighter, who appears to be monitoring a valuable target.
“He’s just a kid; 17 years old,” Lamplighter complains in response,...

If you thought you’d seen it all when it came to Superheroes, the mega hit series ‘The Boys’ by Amazon Prime Original series made everyone eat humble pie. The series offers an alternative take on the superhero world and the way they are perceived in a way beyond your wildest imagination.
Set in a world where the multi-billion corporation Vought has their own brand of superheroes called The Seven or Supes, who have undisputed power over the public, politicians and the truth, we see a band of people team up to put them in their place and revolt against injustice.
After a phenomenal season 1, The Boys are ready to rock in season 2 with new episodes being dropped every Friday on Amazon Prime Video. With a third season already on the cards, it appears as though the show's incredible cast is going to be around for a very long time.

This article contains spoilers for the first three episodes of The Boys Season 2
Aya Cash is a familiar face to many TV junkies, but whether you know her as Gretchen Cutler from You’re the Worst, Sherri in Easy or Joan Simon in Fosse/Verdon, nothing can prepare you for her disturbing role as Stormfront in the second season of Amazon’s ultraviolent comic book adaptation, The Boys.
Swiftly added to The Seven as a replacement for the late Translucent, Stormfront has been gender-flipped for the series, originally appearing in Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comics as a male villain who leads a twisted Avengers-like super-team called Payback. Though he’s a Hitler Youth-raised Neo-Nazi with Superman-level powers, Stormfront claims that he’s a reincarnated Viking. The truth, however, is that he’s absolutely the result of a super-soldier experiment by the Third Reich – an evil version of Captain America, in many respects.

It’s fair to say that Chris Mark didn’t have a whole lot to do in The Boys’ Season 2 as Blindspot! At least, it doesn’t look like we’ll see him pop up again any time soon.
Mark is a prolific and respected stunt performer and fight choreographer, who you’ve probably already seen in a bunch of things to date. Though the Canadian actor’s speaking roles are less common, he recently appeared as Yuuto Murakami in Netflix’s October Faction and as Bruce Lee in Hulu’s Future Man, but it’s as a stuntman that he’s notched up most of his credits in the likes of Suicide Squad, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Pacific Rim and Star Trek Beyond.
In The Boys’ second season premiere, “The Big Ride”, Mark plays the show’s riff on Marvel’s Daredevil, Blindspot. The young man is clearly extremely agile and talented,...

The Boys are back and better than ever.
The opening scenes of The Boys Season 2 Episode 1 were off the wall
Incredibly gory and funny as hell, those scenes wasted no time dunking you right back into the deep end of these crazy mofos.
Citizens may still have their heads in the sand, but as the suits discussed admitting The Seven as another branch of the Department of Defense, the reality of their brand of terrorism was washing over those who were left holding the proverbial bag of poo with the new addition.
Just so you know, a 34% casualty rate is astronomical. It is clearly not worth the time or effort to promote The Seven, but thanks to a top-notch marketing team at Vought, they're all in nonetheless.
That the discussion played out over Black Noir's actions was just precious, even with the icing on top that he left a poor...

It might be time for The Boys‘ Homelander to start worrying.
Season 2 of the Amazon Prime series kicks off with the supe delivering a faux-sincere speech at Translucent’s funeral, after which Starlight takes the stage to sing an American Idol finale-esque ode to the fallen hero. Homelander later slips into Stillwell’s office, where he finds some breast milk in the mini fridge, and yes, he helps himself to it. Ashley walks in on the awkward moment and thanks Homelander for recommending her for Stillwell’s position. She then introduces him to The Seven’s newest recruit: Blindspot, a...
