Paul Walker was one of the biggest sweethearts in Hollywood’s entire entertainment industry, especially renowned for starring in masterpieces from the Fast and Furious franchise. But after starring in only six movies from the fan-favorite saga, the late actor faced his unexpected death at the age of 40 on one blurry night due to a brutal accident in his Porsche.

However, while many fans know that the cause of his death was the collision of his car with a curb, tree, and a light pole, what they don’t know is that this is only something scratching the surface of what actually happened that night. If anything, the autopsy reports brought forward such horrors from the incident that even Fast and Furious fans would be scared to drive a car after reading it.

The (Extra Hot) Cannes Hot List: Nic Cage, Kristen Stewart and Paul Rudd Films to Heat up the Market
The Cannes Film Festival is bracing for what could be its most disruptive edition in decades, with freelance festival employees threatening strike action that could derail the opening night ceremony, and the entire French industry on tenterhooks ahead of an expected new wave of #MeToo allegations against some of the country’s biggest stars, including a few with films in competition this year.
Well, at least the market looks promising. Judging by the number and quality of projects pitching at the 2024 Cannes film market (May 14-22), this could be a banner year for the Marché du Film.
“The pre-sales market is back in a big way,” notes Janina Vilsmaier, senior vp of sales and distribution at Protagonist Pictures, whose Cannes slate includes Simon Curtis’ best-agers comedy Encore starring Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, Henry Winkler, and Don Johnson, and Jimpa, the upcoming feature from Good Luck to You, Leo Grande director...

For most fans, Vin Diesel’s name is closely associated with the Fast & Furious franchise that, as divisive as it is, has been successfully running since 2001. But the F&f’s story ends with the upcoming 11th installment, and Diesel knows exactly what he wants to do next: he will bring back an overlooked yet beloved sci-fi movie series that has been deemed complete for over 10 years now.
Vin Diesel Is Working on Riddick: Furya
An ambiguous and divisive as the original Riddick trilogy was, it still has a solid fan base to this day, and Vin Diesel is planning to capitalize on that. According to Deadline, the star has already set all arrangements in place, and the production of the fourth installment titled Riddick: Furya begins on August 26, 2024.

You might think that Vin Diesel would be mostly focused on finishing the Fast & Furious franchise at this point, with the reportedly last movie still sitting in the development garage. But it appears another of his recognizable characters has overtaken Dom Toretto in the race to screens – Richard B. Riddick. Riddick: Furya is now in line to shoot in August.
The Riddick character originated in 2000's Pitch Black, which saw him and a group of survivors of a crashed spaceship tackling bloodthirsty critters that hunt by night — as the planet they're stranded on is thrust into a long night by an eclipse. He was further explored by 2004's The Chronicles Of Riddick and 2013's Riddick.
Writer/director David Twohy, who has been on the Riddick journey alongside Diesel since the first movie, is back for Furya, which sees the character finally return to his home world, a place he barely remembers at this point.

The Chronicles of Riddick is a very interesting sci-fi franchise if you look at it. It never became a cult classic mainstream title, but The Chronicles of Riddick franchise has a solid fanbase, and the franchise as a whole definitely helped its star Vin Diesel in his career, establishing him as a star. It was created by brothers Ken and Jim Wheat and focuses on the stories of the antihero character Riddick in the 28th century. The series started in 2000 and we have since seen three feature films and one animated short. Today, we can confirm that a fourth feature film, titled Riddick: Furya, is going to be made with Diesel reprising his role and filming starting later this year!
The new Riddick film will be a continuation of the series, which is definitely great news for fans. It has been a while since the last film appeared, and while a sequel had been confirmed,...

While Vin Diesel is known as the protagonist of the Fast & Furious franchise, he had his breakthrough with the sci-fi film franchise The Chronicles of Riddick. Beginning with Pitch Black, the franchise spawned two more sequels, short films, and video games. Diesel even turned producer of the threequel after trading the rights for the franchise for a cameo in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
The makers have now confirmed that a fourth film is in development. Diesel would be reprising his role as the mercenary Riddick in the film titled Riddick: Furya. The film would reportedly follow the character as he goes back to his homeworld, which finds its citizens fighting against a new monster.

Vin Diesel will be back for Riddick: Furya, ahead of filming Fast & Furious 11: more on the story right here.
Outside of the original Pitch Black movie, that introduced Vin Diesel as the character of Riddick on the big screen, there’s an argument that the terrific videogame The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is as good as the franchise has got on screen.
Certainly 2004’s mega-budget The Chronicles Of Riddick stumbled a little, and then a third movie, 2013’s Riddick, financially was more rewarding but still not top tier.
Nonetheless, Vin Diesel is not discouraged, and he’s reuniting with director David Twohy for a long-mooted fourth cinematic adventure for the character of Riddick. The film in question will be called Riddick: Furya, and the assumption was that it was going to slot in around production for the upcoming Fast & Furious 11.

Vin Diesel will begin production on the fourth installment of the Riddick franchise, Riddick: Furya, on August 26. The film will be shot in Germany, Spain, and the UK.
This follow-up to the sci-fi films Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013) reunites Diesel with writer and director David Twohy. Diesel will reprise his role as the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick, a dangerous escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the galaxy.
In Riddick: Furya, Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there, he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. Some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

After years of promises that it would happen, the fourth "Riddick" movie is, indeed, finally happening. Vin Diesel is set to return as the titular character in a new installment of the franchise titled "Riddick: Furya," with David Twohy again serving as director. For the fourth time since the turn of the millennium, Diesel will be playing in the sandbox that helped make him a movie star in the first place.
According to a press release, "Furya" will begin production on August 26, 2024, with filming set to take place in Germany, Spain, and the U.K. This brings the project full circle, as Diesel and Twohy have been trying to make it for some time. In 2019, the "Fast & Furious" star shared on Instagram that the script for "Riddick 4" was complete. It's taken nearly five years to get all of the ducks in a row but the duo has managed...

Whenever Vin Diesel wants to get away from family and live more than a quarter mile at a time, he revisits his other franchises. Diesel, an unapologetic sci-fi nerd, has always had a soft spot for his space anti-hero character, Riddick. Diesel will be following up on the previous entries with the upcoming Riddick: Furya. Deadline has now reported that this entry has just set its production start date on August 26th. This comes just as director Louis Leterrer confirmed that the eleventh Fast & Furious movie will not begin production until next year, which leaves Diesel open.
The plot of Riddick: Furya reads,
“Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

Vin Diesel is officially returning to the world of Pitch Black and galactic antihero Riddick, the sci-fi action franchise that gave the actor his first major leading role.
Riddick: Furya, which was announced in February 2023, is now moving full steam ahead toward an Aug. 26 shoot date, producers announced Monday. Diesel stars and produces the film, which reteams him with David Twohy, the filmmaker who has directed all of the franchise’s previous entries. Furya will film in locales such as Germany, Spain and the U.K.
Pitch Black, released by Universal in 2000, introduced Diesel as a captured criminal who, along with several other passengers, crash lands on a planet where sundown unleashes feral monsters. While the first one was made for $23 million, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick cost over $100 million, as the movie went big in scope. The route failed to excite audiences and it seemed like the movie series was over.

If there’s one positive thing even the many people he’s had feuds with might say about Vin Diesel, it’s that when he latches onto a character or concept, he doesn’t let them go. He may have skipped the first sequel to The Fast and the Furious, but once he did return to the role of Dominic Toretto, he made sure the sequels kept reaching theatres at a fast and furious pace. Few movie-goers seem to care about the Richard B. Riddick character beyond Pitch Black, but that hasn’t stopped Diesel from continuing to push sequels forward – and apparently Riddick 4 isn’t far off from production. Then there’s his 2015 fantasy/action film The Last Witch Hunter, which didn’t gain a lot of fans (although JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy dug it). Diesel liked it, so we might just get a The Last Witch Hunter...

Vin Diesel's Riddick movies are an unusual franchise, driven by Diesel's love for the character and a desire to explore his world with series director David Twohy. Each entry is wildly different from the others, spanning different genres and even mediums, with a short detour into animation for "Riddick: Dark Fury." Riddick himself is a fun sci-fi creation, the last surviving member of an alien warrior race called Furyans, with reflective eyes that see in the dark. But where should newcomers to the franchise start, and what order should they watch the "Riddick" flicks in?
Thankfully the answer is fairly simple, dear reader, though which entries work best might vary from viewer to viewer. "Pitch Black" seems to be fairly universally beloved, but the other "Riddick" entries received more mixed receptions yet have their own cult followings. The movies are possible to enjoy on their own but might be a little confusing,...

Exclusive: Deadline spoke to Nordic distributor Scanbox about why it made sense to join new European film and TV studio Vuelta Group, which we revealed earlier this morning.
Established in 1980, Copenhagen-based Scanbox has a catalog of more than 1,000 titles, including acclaimed international and Danish films. It also has offices in Reykjavik, Oslo and Stockholm.
The company was steered for a long time by legendary Icelandic producer Joni Sighvatsson, who in the ’80s set up leading music video company Propaganda Films with Steve Golin, where they worked with directors including David Fincher, Michael Bay and Spike Jonze. Scanbox is now run by Joni’s son Thor.
The outfit has been ramping up its acquisitions and productions in recent months and recently pre-bought Jason Statham starrer The Beekeeper, big-budget Sylvester Stallone reboot Cliffhanger and Vin Diesel sequel Riddick: Furya. Fast X may not be the penultimate entry in the Fast and Furious franchise after all. During a red carpet interview at the film’s world premiere in Rome, Vin Diesel appeared to confirm that Universal Pictures is considering a 12th movie.
When the face of the franchise was asked about its future, Diesel initially said he wanted to avoid “tipping the hat too much” before teasing the three-act finale. “Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter,” Diesel said. “And after the studio saw this Part One, they said, ‘Could you make Fast X, the finale, a trilogy?’”
“It’s three acts in any story,” co-star Michelle Rodriguez added. Host Naz Perez followed up by asking if they were “confirming right now that we’re getting a third movie,” but the actors scurried away after Diesel quipped, “You’re gonna get me in trouble here.

Last month, it was announced that Vin Diesel and writer/director David Twohy are about ready to get rolling on Riddick: Furya, the fourth film in the Riddick franchise and a project that Diesel has been regularly mentioning pretty much ever since the third movie was released ten years ago, doing his best to keep the Riddick hype alive. His efforts must be working, because shortly after last month’s announcement all three of the previous Riddick movies cracked the Netflix top 10 in the United States. Pop Culture reported that, at one point, the Riddick movies were ranking in the top 10 in reverse order: “Riddick stands at number four, Chronicles of Riddick at number seven and Pitch Black at number nine.” So Diesel took to Instagram to celebrate the Netflix success of the films while mentioning that he’s working to get Riddick 4 into production.

Vin Diesel has celebrated a milestone on Netflix for his Riddick trilogy.
The Fast and Furious star has appeared as violent antihero Richard B Riddick in three films across the Chronicles of Riddick franchise: Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013).
He is seemingly set to reprise the role once more in Riddick 4: Furya, a film that has been in development since 2014.
On Instagram, Diesel offered fans an update on the prospective new sequel, and cheered the fact that all three Riddick films were in Netflix’s Top 10 films list at the same time.
“Had some really great Riddick meetings this week...” wrote the actor, “only to find that all three films are in the top ten Netflix movies.
“Wow. So grateful to our Furyan community. Haha. Happy creative Sunday…”
In the comments underneath, fans of the franchise shared their enthusiasm for a fourth Riddick entry.

Vin Diesel is still teasing Riddick 4, but will we see the bright-eyed Furyan on screen again? It’s a big hope that’s echoed by a lot of fans. So far, the character has been featured in live-action and animation, and live-action has been nothing short of awesome. But the fact remains that while Riddick has had a few great adventures, starting with Pitch Black, his origin hasn’t been fully revealed. It’s already known from his backstory that he’s a Furyan native. The Furyans are a specialized human species but are still much like earth-based individuals. The big difference is that

Almost ten years have gone by since the release of the previous film in the Riddick franchise – and pretty much ever since the release of that movie, franchise star Vin Diesel has been taking every opportunity to hype up the fact that he and franchise director David Twohy are planning to make another sequel, Riddick 4: Furya. So while Diesel is currently busy wrapping up the Fast and the Furious franchise with this year’s release of Fast X and then one more sequel beyond that one, he still took a moment to remind fans that he intends to make Riddick 4: Furya. The latest reminder comes in the form of two pieces of concept art, which you can check out at the bottom of this article.

It's easy to forget that Vin Diesel lends his voice to everyone's favorite sentient alien tree Groot. But his role in the MCU wasn't the first time the actor headed to space in one of his films. His very first breakout role, after all, is owed to "Pitch Black," a blend of sci-fi and monster horror that first introduced us to Riddick. Eventually, two more films would follow, as well as an upcoming and highly anticipated fourth installment titled "Furya."

The Riddick franchise is a lot like its main character: rough around the edges, complex, hard to pin down and, most importantly, a survivor. Case in point, star Vin Diesel's recent Instagram post where he continues to bang the drum for a supposedly forthcoming new installment in the series after an already 8-year gap and counting:
Incredible meeting today, thanks team you know who you are... Let's just say Furia maybe closer than you think. #Riddick

The Fast & Furious franchise’s Dominic Toretto might be the defining role of Vin Diesel’s career, one that’s turned him into an A-list megastar after he assumed creative control following the saga’s reinvention as a globetrotting series of blockbuster action extravaganzas, but he’s always given off the distinct impression that Richard B. Riddick is closer to his heart.
The 53 year-old has the multi-billion dollar success of Fast & Furious to fall back on, but the expanded Riddick universe has never been quite as straightforward. Pitch Black was a decent-sized box office success, but crafting the sequel to a B-level creature feature as an epic space opera backfired spectacularly, with The Chronicles of Riddick bombing hard.

The fourth entry in the Vin Diesel-starring Riddick series has been firmly mired in development hell for a while, despite reports emerging in the last year that Riddick 4: Furya would shoot in 2020. Indeed, back in May, it appeared that a script was close to completion, although it’s likely that the general impact of Covid-19 derailed any initial plans of making the movie happen. Things may be looking up for Riddick fans, though, as there’s talk today that the sequel is moving forward.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, what we can assume is still going to be Riddick 4: Furya will soon enter production, but further details are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. Universal has been the main studio behind the franchise, though, so we’d expect them to be involved in some capacity, if only to keep one of their biggest Fast & Furious asset happy.

Vin Diesel can usually be found either starring in a franchise or attempting to launch a new one, an approach to his career that has yielded decidedly mixed results. Next year’s Fast & Furious 9 might mark the 20-year anniversary of his first outing as Dominic Toretto and his ninth appearance as the character in total, but the chrome domed action star has been playing Richard B. Riddick for even longer.

While his appearances on the big screen this year are few and far between, Vin Diesel has a lot of projects in the pipeline. Sure, he returned as Groot (albeit briefly) for Avengers: Endgame, but Vin is going to be awfully busy over the next few years. Just a few weeks ago, in fact, he wrapped up filming on Fast & Furious 9, and in February, Diesel will be taking on the role of Ray Garrison in Bloodshot, based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name.
Beyond that, he’s been cast in unspecified roles for both Avatar 2 and 3, but it looks like he’s keen on returning to some of his more iconic characters as well. As reported by CinemaBlend, Diesel recently took to Instagram to share a shirtless photo of himself and he also updated his fans on what they can expect from him in the future.

Xander Cage edges closer to a return, as the cast for xXx 3 starts to come together...
It's looking like the long-mooted xXx 3 might finally be getting moving. Whilst Vin Diesel's immediate priority is to shoot Fast & Furious 8 ahead of its release next year, he's expected to film the third Xander Cage movie before 2016 is out (with Riddick 4 next after that). What's more, we've learned of some casting for the movie, that suggests it may well be full steam ahead for the xXx sequel.
Diesel will be reprising the role of Xander Cage, and he's set to be joined in the movie by Jet Li, Tony Jaa and Deepika Padukone. Their exact roles have not yet been revealed.
xXx 3 is set to be directed by D J Caruso, with Michael Ferris and John Brancato on scripting duties. More on the movie has we hear it.

Following on from confirmation earlier that a TV series spin-off to the "Riddick" franchise is on the way, the franchise's star Vin Diesel posted an unannounced live video on Tuesday and teased to nearly 200,000 viewers a special guest - "Riddick" creator David Twohy.
The pair confirmed that they will start filming on the fourth chapter in the film series, titled "Furia," beginning in early 2017. The story will effectively serve as an origin story of where Riddick comes from, and it is targeting an R rating confirmed Twohy quite bluntly.
The project is also said to have a "more expansive mythology". Diesel himself describes the new one as a "little more expansive in its mythology". No word on when the spin-off TV series "Merc City" could begin production.

Last month Vin Diesel revealed that he would be developing a new Riddick movie and a TV series with his franchise director David Twohy. The only thing we really knew about the sequel up until now is that it would be called Furia. Diesel posted a video of himself with Twohy, and in that video, they reveal some new details on the movie and that it will be an origin story. Diesel says:
"Do you want to know where it all started? Where it all began with that dark character called Riddick?"
He goes on to reveal that they are looking to start shooting the sequel in early 2017. Twohy jokes that it takes the actor that long to get into character. But in reality, he is working on a ton of other projects right now including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Fast & Furious 8, The Pacifier 2, and xXx 3.

The first project under the deal? A TV series complement to David Twohy's "Riddick" sci-fi film franchise. It was previously reported that the show will be called "Merc City" and follows the mercenaries and bounty hunters of the Riddick universe.
This comes on top of a fourth film entitled "Furia" which Twohy is currently penning. Shana C. Waterman will serve as Head of Television at One Race and will oversee development and production under the deal.
