For the second year in a row, the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (Galeca) have rallied around an obvious favorite: “Moonlight.” Last year, Todd Haynes’s “Carol” swept Galeca’s Dorian Awards, and from its prominence amongst the nominees announced today, “Moonlight” will likely do the same.

Not restricted to films with explicit queer themes, the films nominated for film of the year are “Jackie,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “La La Land, “20th Century Women,” and “Moonlight.” The nominees for Lgbtq Film of the Year are “Being 17,” “Closet Monster,” “Moonlight,” “Other People,” and “The Handmaiden.”
Judging by its very strong Oscar chances, the enthusiasm for “Moonlight” has overshadowed all other worthy queer films. “The Handmaiden” was notably absent from the Oscar short list for Best Foreign Language Film, and the other three Dorian nominees are not in contention at all.

Brad Paisley is joining The Voice next season, serving as an advisor to contestants on Blake Shelton's team. The news arrives one year after Paisley's two-month stint on ABC's now-defunct Rising Star, a similarly-styled singing competition in which Paisley, Ke$ha and Ludacris all served as judges.
"If you know anything about country music, you know who Brad Paisley is," Shelton tells People.com. "He's Entertainer of the Year. He's Male Vocalist of the Year. He's sold millions of albums and sold out tours. He's just one of the more respected singers.

We all have those moments late at night when the Netflix queue is just "meh," everything in the freezer has been microwaved and eaten, and all there's left to do in this world is to tweet. It seems that Larry King had that kind of night as he tweeted with the stamina of a thousand youths late last night (or more like early this morning). It all began with a critical appraisal of Dane Cook's Showtime special (as it usually does) and devolved into an appreciation of Derek Jeter, Oreo cookies with milk, and a hatred of people with perfect teeth.

Brad Paisley has spent some time in Hollywood lately - on ABC's singing competition Rising Star and with guest spots on sitcoms like Two and a Half Men - but his idea of a good time remains decidedly down-home, he tells People Country. Paisley, 41, admits there's nothing everyday about his family's 87-acre spread, but says he and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, are focused on keeping boys Huck, 7, and Jasper, 5, grounded. Next week marks the season finale of Rising Star and the winner of the singing competition will be named. Has this show been a ratings winner for ABC? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead?
Rising Star allows the home audience to vote for singers and help determine who will move on in the competition. Brad Paisley, Kesha, and Ludacris are the show's "experts" while Josh Groban is the series' host.
The series debuted in late June to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.2 million viewers. That wasn't a great start for a new show but, considering it's summer, the ratings weren't awful either.
Unfortunately, the ratings started falling in week two and they've gotten much worse as the weeks have progressed. Last week's installment drew just a 0.7 demo rating...

Off the top of my head, I’d like to throw out a few important new guidelines for Season 2 of Rising Star — while acknowledging that the months old, unchecked Powerball ticket in my wallet is as likely to make all my dreams come true as ABC’s woeful reality-singing competition is to return in 2015:
1. If the show’s “experts” are going to pretend to be “mentors,” then they should never ever allow a wide-eyed 16-year-old girl to sing lyrics about being a “for-a-good-time-call” party girl. #RIPManeepatMolloy
2. Ke$ha must agree to a four-hour nap and five Red Bulls prior to any live telecast.

It goes without saying that ABC's singing competition series Rising Star has pretty much been a failure. Not only is it tanking in the ratings, but the overall talent on the show is pretty weak. However, that doesn't mean there's not any bright spots. Just look at The X Factor, which didn't always have the strongest talent but sometimes there were fantastic acts like Alex and Sierra.
And the same can be said for Rising Star. During this week's Quarterfinals, there were bad notes all over the place, along with some terrible song choices. But one singer stood out to me -- and that was Audrey Kate Geiger, who performed Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind." When she performed this tune, I was reminded of previous covers on shows like American Idol and The Voice.

It won’t be easy, but for the first three paragraphs of tonight’s Rising Star quarterfinal-round recap, I’m going to be unabashedly positive, determined to grab the reins and hold back any/all negative commentary. Brad Paisley is already a singer, songwriter, master guitarist and resident expert on ABC's singing competition show Rising Star, but the country star wants to add one more thing to his list of credits. "I'm going to go to bartender school," Paisley tells People Country. "We've built a bar in the studio house on my farm and I need to know how to work it." As with his other projects, Paisley didn't skimp on the details. "It's the greatest sports bar in the county!" he says. "We actually built it like an old English pub with an old bar, a foot rail,...

Revealing a new look, Kesha posed a few photos to Instagram showing off her mint green locks over the weekend.
The "Tik Tok" singer asked her followers what color to dye her hair before heading to the salon by sending a mass tweet that read, “what color should my hair be?” and “I’m a rainbow so what should come next.”
It’s hard to tell if Kesha has changed her hair six times since her release from rehab or if these are a set of wigs. During her recent interview on "Good Morning America," the “We R Who We R” singer rocked blue locks and told the hosts, “This is my new thing. I'm a rainbow. Before I used to dress a lot in black, and now I've let color into my life. It's very metaphorical.”

Quick, say something nice about Rising Star! And no, “it’s no longer clogging up my DVR with its tuneless discharge” does not count as “nice.”
Maybe I ought to go first? Ummm…
Ok, ABC’s reality singing competition is putting my math skills to good use. (That hinky “percentage of people who vote yes” + “7% for each judge” metric does occasionally tickle the brain.)

She’s all over town promoting “Rising Star,” and Kesha arrived to her New York City hotel with a gaggle of excited fans waiting for her on Friday (July 25).
The “Tik Tok” beauty passed along a wave and showed off her hand tat before stepping inside her Big Apple hotel.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the blue haired singer revealed on “The Tonight Show” that she once broke into Prince’s house to drop off a demo.
During her chat with host Jimmy Fallon, Kesha explained, "So I cruised up in my dead grandpa's car. I get out of the car and there's a gardener in the front yard, and I was like, 'Here's five bucks, and like don't make a thing. I'm just going to slide right under this gate.' He just laughed and thought it was funny, and I was you know charming at the time.”

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine may have perfected the reality-judge bromance on The Voice, but the guys over at Rising Star are giving them a run for their money.
"I think that we couldn't be more different," Brad Paisley tells People of his fellow panelist – and new friend – Ludacris. "But we're thick as thieves. It's one of the fastest friendships I've ever made."
Not even losing an expensive bet could deter Paisley from singing the praises of his new pal.
"He's such a big star, a great actor and one of the most important and influential rappers of all time.

Sporting a cleavage-baring black dress with lavender locks, the “Grow a Pear” singer worked the arrivals area with “Rising Star” cohorts Brad Paisley and Ludacris.
Earlier this year, Kesha spent some time at a Chicago-area rehab clinic to deal with an eating disorder, and she recently penned an op-ed for Elle UK to discuss her experience.

The Israeli version of Rising Star is an incredibly popular singing competition. Will the Us version be a ratings hit for ABC? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled like so many others singing shows? Stay tuned.
Rising Star allows the home audience to vote for singers and help determine who will move on in the competition. Brad Paisley, Kesha, and Ludacris are the show's "experts" while Josh Groban is the series' host.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.
