The ABC had greenlit the development of The Heights when Que Minh Luu, who co-created the drama serial with Warren Clarke, was alerted to a job vacancy at the public broadcaster.
Sally Riley, the ABC’s head of drama, comedy and Indigenous, suggested Luu apply for the role of an executive producer.
That presented a dilemma for the Matchbox Pictures development executive. “On one hand I was keen to see the show through to completion,” she tells If. “On the other hand I wanted to get into producing, jobs like that are rare and I may not have had the opportunity again.”
So she applied, got the position and continued to oversee the 30-episode production from Matchbox and Peta Astbury-Bulsara’s For Pete’s Sake Productions as an Ep.

Thor’s making a house call for a very specific Marvel Universe doctor. Doctor Strange, that is. Actually, we don’t know that for sure, but it looks like that’s at least a strong possibility. Daley Pearson, a writer for shows like The Strange Calls and 7 Days Later, is based in Australia where Thor Ragnarok is shooting, and he posted some photos from the set of the film. There’s a great one of Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and director Taika Waititi, who may well be the funniest person to ever make a Marvel movie, and that’s a pretty high bar when you’ve got dudes like Shane Black, James Gunn, and Joss Whedon in the mix. There’s something that looks like a construction site. And then there’s this one — — where Hemsworth is holding a business card with a handwritten address on it. That address? It...

Marvel Studios didn't bring any footage from Thor: Ragnarok to this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but they did reveal a pretty hilarious sounding mockumentary by director Taika Waititi. That revealed what the God of Thunder has been up to since the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it turns out that he got himself a roommate named Daryl who he gets to write all of his email correspondences with Captain America and Iron Man. Oh, and Thor and Bruce also regularly meet for coffee! Throw in the fact that the video revealed that Thor has a conspiracy board about the whereabouts of the Infinity Stones and a tiny bed for Mjolnir, and it sounds amazing, but what else would you expect from the co-director of a movie like What We Do In The Shadows? A detailed description courtesy of Slash Film can be found below along with a first...

Pearson created The Strange Calls, the ABC TV comedy starring Toby Truslove as a Gold Coast cop who investigates weird things that happen after dark; a Us remake is being developed by 20th TV for the ABC network.
Now Daley and his Ludo Studio partner Charlie Aspinwall are developing The Strange Chores, a 2D animated series for ABC3 about two 12-year-old boys, both troublemakers, who earn pocket money by doing bizarre chores for their mysterious neighbour. The boys. adventures often involve supernatural elements.
Neither guy had any experience in animation so they reached out to Media World.s Colin South, who produced the toon series Dogstar and The New Adventures of Ocean Girl as well as live action drama The Circuit and the movie Stone Bros.

The Us network ABC looks highly likely to shoot a pilot based on the quirky Australian comedy series The Strange Calls.
The network has ordered a pilot based on the show which was created and directed by Daley Pearson for Hoodlum Entertainment for ABC2.
The only proviso is that the network must first approve the cast being assembled by director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), producer Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment and the showrunner Donick Cary, according to Deadline.com.
Cary has completed the script for the pilot based on Pearson.s script. Hoodlum Entertainment.s Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield will serve as executive producers with Kaplan and Cary.
The pilot will start shooting as soon as the network approves the cast. The Us show, which has the working title Strange Calls, will switch the location to Nantucket island, where bumbling cop Toby Banks is called on to investigate strange, unexplainable occurrences.

As a Saturday Night Live fan, Australian writer-director Daley Pearson had a bright idea for a multi-platform comedy series with a fast turnaround, in which audiences participate.
Screen Australia, Screen Nsw and Screen Queensland funded the development of the project and the ABC commissioned a series. The result is 7 Days Later, which will premiere on ABC 2 at 9 pm on October 22 and on social media sites.
The concept seems a recipe for chaos. Seven days before the show goes to air, the producers will announce a key word via YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and 2Jjj.
Audiences are then invited to contribute storylines and characters, which Pearson and co-creator Nick Boshier will develop into a script which will be performed by a cast of YouTube identities, with a fair bit of improvisation.
