George Harrison was the most spiritual member of The Beatles and tried to incorporate his faith into his everyday life. Over the course of his career, both with The Beatles and as a solo artist, Harrison wrote songs about his spirituality. He was not behind one of The Beatles’ songs that he thought was good publicity for God, though.
George Harrison said this Beatles song was spiritual
In 1967, The Beatles released “All You Need Is Love.” John Lennon wrote the song after their manager, Brian Epstein, informed the band that they were to appear on the Our World broadcast. This was the first-ever live, multinational broadcast and allowed the band to get their new song to millions of listeners. They recorded the song in the studio with a number of other musicians.

While it sounds like a lot of country songs, Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” has some unusual lyrics. The rock singer who wrote the song gave fans insight into his lyricism. Shelton also discussed what he thought when he first heard the track on the radio.
The writer of Blake Shelton’s ‘God Gave Me You’ likes the track’s line about martyrdom
Christian rock singer Dave Barnes wrote and recorded the original version of “God Gave Me You.” During a 2012 interview with American Songwriter, Barnes was asked about the writing of “God Gave Me You.”
“It didn’t take long at all to write,” he said. “I really do think I wrote it in an afternoon. Those are the nice ones, where a melody and lyric idea match up perfectly. It was quick.”
Barnes had a lot to say about the tune’s lyrics. “It’s funny...

Stevie Nicks has echoed previous comments from Mick Fleetwood, saying “there’s no reason” for a Fleetwood Mac reunion after the tragic death of her bandmate and friend Christine McVie.
Nicks was asked about the possibility of Fleetwood Mac touring again in an interview with Vulture about her new Barbie doll, and explained why the band couldn’t “go any further with this” after getting together in 2018 and 2019 for a 50th anniversary tour with Neil Finn and Mike Campbell standing in for Lindsey Buckingham.
“When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her,” Nicks said. “Without her, what is it? You know what I mean? She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac. Christine was my best friend.”

It stands to reason some classic rock songs would take inspiration from the Bible, the most popular book of all time. For example, Queen released multiple songs based on the Bible. In addition, Leonard Cohen combined two Bible stories in one song.
The Bible | Bromberger Hoover Photography / Contributor 5. The Byrds’ ‘Turn! Turn! Turn!’
Pete Seeger wrote “Turn! Turn! Turn!” based on a passage from the Book of Ecclesiastes. While the book can be nihilistic at points, the song is very pretty and smooth. It became smoother when The Byrds covered it. According to The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits, “Turn! Turn! Turn!” is the No. 1 single with the oldest lyrics.
Decades later, “Turn! Turn! Turn!” remains one of the most famous classic rock songs based on the Bible. Despite this, Seeger told Beliefnet in 2006 he did not think the Bible was completely true. In addition, he believed everything was God and God was everything.

Rob Schneider said during a recent interview (via Mediaite) that “Saturday Night Live” was killed for good when Kate McKinnon sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” as Hillary Clinton during the cold open of the show’s first episode back after the 2016 presidential election. McKinnon parodied Clinton throughout the 2016 election cycle, but the show took a somber and serious approach to Clinton’s loss against Donald Trump by starting the post-election episode with McKinnon’s Hillary performing “Hallelujah” at a piano.
“I hate to crap on my old show,” Schneider said. “I literally prayed, ‘Please have a joke at the end. Don’t do this. Please don’t go down there.’ And there was no joke at the end, and I went, ‘It’s over. It’s over. It’s not going to come back.’”

Rob Schneider has shared his thoughts about the moment he thought Saturday Night Live had lost its way.
Referring to the 2016 sketch of Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton, the 58-year-old comedian said that was the moment he realised SNL was “over”.
During a conversation on The Glenn Beck Podcast about how the comedian’s political views have shifted towards the right in recent years, Schneider said: “I hate to crap on my own show.
“When Hillary Clinton lost – which is understandable why she lost. She’s not exactly the most logical person in the room. And then when Kate McKinnon went out there on Saturday Night Live in the cold opening and all that, and she’s dressed as Hillary Clinton, and she started playing ‘Hallelujah.’ I literally prayed, ‘please have a joke at the end.”

Rob Schneider is spilling on all things “Saturday Night Live.”
The former “SNL” cast member and frequent Adam Sandler collaborator claimed the sketch series went downhill after the 2016 presidential election and during Donald Trump’s presidency. There’s something about Canadian writer/poet/singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen that seems to shine so brightly that people always want to approach his life from an angle and never succeed in getting very close. Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man, did have an extensive interview but was intercut it with a tribute concert while Marianne & Me: Words Of Love came at Cohen via his love for his Swedish muse Marianne Ihlen, with Nick Broomfield shoehorning himself into the film for good measure. Now it’s the turn of Daniel Geller and Dayna Goldfine, whose previous films include Ballets Russes, and who approach the musician largely from the perspective of his most famous song, Hallelujah. The end result could do with less tangent and more of the gent himself.
Things start well, with a decent potted history of how Cohen came to move from the written word to the sung and how his Jewish roots.

Joe Biden arrived in Washington, D.C. the day before his inauguration and trekked to the Lincoln Memorial, where he presided over a solemn ceremony to mark the tragedy of Covid-19.
With the number of deaths surpassing 400,000 today, Biden said, “To heal, we must remember. It’s hard sometimes to remember but that is how we heal. It is important to do that as a nation…Between sundown and dusk, let us shine the lights and the darkness the sacred pool of reflection to remember all we lost.”
He and Jill Biden, along with Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, then stared out at the memorial reflecting pool, where rows of white rectangular monoliths lined the edges to signify the lives lost.
“Tonight, we grieve and begin healing, together,” Harris said. “Though we may be physically separated, we the American people are united in spirit.”

Based on the Alloy book series by Gabriella Pierce, the project centers on a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. Unwittingly, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building. O’Quinn will play Gavin, the building’s owner. Alex Graves is directing the Warner Bros. TV/Alloy Entertainment pilot, written by David Wilcox. O’Quinn is coming off a major arc on CBS’ Hawaii Five-o this season. Hawaii Five-0 Lost Extension and an Upcoming Death?
Hawaii Five-0 is making some changes to its casting as it extends the stay of one character and shortens another. The first bit of news, involving Terry O’Quinn’s character, Lt. Commander Joe White, is the more positive story. O’Quinn is a fantastic actor and must be doing outdoing himself because producer Peter Lenkov wants more of him.
“His original deal was six episodes, and now we’ll do another three,” Lenkov tells TV Guide. “And we’re hoping for even more.” O’Quinn is probably having a ball over in Hawaii, but what he really longs for is his own show where he is numero uno. He just might get his wish if Hallelujah, a new soap opera being rewritten by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives), is picked up. I’m still crossing my fingers for an O’Quinn/Michael Emerson series.

On Sunday ABC programming chief Paul Lee confirmed plans to say goodbye to Desperate Housewives next May after eight seasons.
"It's an iconic show that we're so proud of," Lee said. "We wanted to make sure that this show, which sort of put us on the map, had its victory lap."
Creator Marc Cherry said "the only thing harder than creating a hit show is knowing when to end it," adding he's "very aware of shows that overstay their welcome...and I just didn't want that to happen. ABC is redeveloping the Marc Cherry pilot "Hallelujah" and is working on the Marvel Comics-inspired shows "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" and "The Hulk" with an eye toward next pilot season, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee said Sunday.

He said the network is also continuing to develop "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" and Guillermo Del Toro's "The Hulk," based on characters from Disney-owned Marvel. Disney also owns ABC.

It had to happen some time and it looks like this season will be the last for Desperate Housewives. Confirmation is expected to be reported tomorrow at ABC presentation for the TCA press tour.
Season eight, which kicks off on September 25th, will be the first without creator Marc Cherry at the reins as executive producer. Cherry stepped down at the end of season seven to devote more time to other projects. He recently developed a drama called Hallelujah but it wasn't picked up for the fall. He's now rewriting the high-concept series idea about a southern town that's being torn apart by forces of good and evil. He's also in the middle of a battery and wrongful termination lawsuit from Nicollette Sheridan.

In 2004, ABC underwent a pretty remarkable renaissance, going from network also-ran to total powerhouse, thanks to the addition of three massive hits. Last season, the first of the triumvirate, Lost, ended things after six seasons of mystery and intrigue and it looks like a second show is about to close up shop.
Deadline is reporting that ABC is set to end Desperate Housewives after next season, which will be its 8th. No particular reason was given for the decision, especially since it reportedly shocked cast members and the show had an option for a 9th season. Creator Marc Cherry had originally planned the show to go 9 seasons, but he has already left the show to focus on developing new projects for the network. Cherry's first endeavor, Hallelujah, didn't receive a pick-up in May, but there has been talks of retooling the show for the upcoming pilot season.

A second coming for ABC's rejected pilot "Hallelujah" could be in the works.
ABC has signed former "Law & Order" star Jesse L. Martin, who had a lead role in the pilot from "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry, to a one-year talent deal. Cherry, meanwhile, is working on a new script for the drama, Deadline reports.
The network may also try to re-sign "Lost" Emmy winner Terry O'Quinn for the reworked pilot, the site says. O'Quinn has since taken a recurring part on "Hawaii Five-0," but since he's not a regular on the CBS series he's allowed to go after a full-time gig.
"Hallelujah's" actors were let out of their contracts after ABC passed on it in May, so it's likely that some fairly significant recasting would take place on the second pilot.

Exclusive: Former Law & Order star Jesse Martin, who toplined the ABC/ABC Studios drama pilot Hallelujah this past season, is staying at the network, signing a talent holding deal with ABC and ABC Studios. The rich one-year pact is tied to Marc Cherry's Hallelujah, which didn't make the cut to series in May but is still alive and is being retooled. Cherry is now writing a new script for the project, set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil. While the cast's options expired at the end of June, there had been talk about 2 actors from the pilot, Martin and Lost alum Terry O'Quinn. Martin's talent deal will make him available to reprise his role in the pilot, which tested very well, should the reworked Hallelujah be picked up. O'Quinn is also available as the role on Hawaii...

While "Hallelujah," his ABC pilot didn't pan out, it didn't take long for Emmy-winning "Lost" alum Terry O'Quinn to find his way back to television.
In a fitting move, O'Quinn will feature in an island-set show filmed in Hawaii once again, as TV Line reports that he'll have a very important recurring role on "Hawaii 5-0." O'Quinn will take on the role of a Navy Seal Lt. Commander, who, having trained McGarrett (played by Alex O'Loughlin), "holds some of the answers to the mysteries surrounding the respective murders of McGarrett’s mother and father."
The role will reunite him with "Lost" cast mate Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Chin Ho Kelly.
O'Quinn has plenty of experience playing a military man, as he played General Nicholas Alexander in seven episodes of "The West Wing," Col. Will Ryan in a guest appearance on "NCIS" and also played F.B.I. Assistant Director Kendall in "Alias.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
With one strong reality performer ("Dancing with the Stars"), one solid light procedural ("Castle"), one acclaimed comedy ("Modern Family"), one decent rated comedy ("Cougar Town"), and two former flagship sudsers past their best buy date ("Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy"), the Alphabet is in need of hits to fill some big gaps in its schedule.
Only two shows last season survived and both are modest raters at best - meaning this year the network is trying out thirteen new shows, easily more than any other, in their efforts to score hopefully a few hits. Seven of them will launch in the Fall and six more around mid-season.

Update 1:10 Pm: The last comedy pilots to get the nod at ABC today are Suburgatory and the cross-dressing Work It. Another buzzed-about pilot, Smothered, has not been picked up but remains in contention. Among those that are not moving forward is Other People's Kids. Update 12:50 Pm: ABC picked up a third new comedy, Chris Moynihan's Man Up. Update 12:35 Pm: ABC just picked up seven new drama series, early standouts Good Christian Bitches, now Good Christian Belles, and Charlie's Angels, as well as Once Upon A Time, Pan Am, Revenge, Shonda Rhimes' Scandal and The River. Some are for midseason. The high-profile drama pilots not to get an order include Poe, which was an early favorite of ABC chief Paul Lee but lost traction after poor testing, and Marc Cherry's spiritual drama Hallelujah. Previous 12:25 Pm: ABC is just now making a flurry of calls to producers.

With Fox done with its series orders and NBC pretty much done too, attention is focusing on ABC and CBS. ABC is expected to make its series pickups tomorrow. Here is the latest buzz on the two networks: ABC Assured to get series orders are early frontrunners Good Christian Bitches and Charlie's Angels, along with the modern fairy tale Once Upon A Time. Shonda Rhimes' PR drama Scandal looks solid, with one or both of Pan Am and procedural Identity also expected to get a green light. Thriller The River is rumored for an order, though it's unclear if it will be a regular or limited-series one. Other possibilities on the drama side include the Hamptons-set Revenge, which has been gathering momentum, and Marc Cherry's Hallelujah, possibly for midseason with some retooling, while 1840s detective show Poe has been fading. On the comedy side, the Tim Allen pilot,...

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. We’re only a couple of weeks away from broadcasters unveiling their fall schedules and intriguing pilots are emerging as front-runners to land coveted series orders.
Of the two most high-profile super-girl-power pilots, ABC’s Charlie’s Angels has ridiculously strong odds; we’re told its screenings have gone very well. NBC’s Wonder Woman is considered less certain despite heavy online interest in the costume. Should the David E. After months of negotiations, the four stars of ABC’s Desperate Housewives — Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria — are finalizing eight-figure deals to stay put on Wisteria Lane.
The new pacts, which are for one year with an option for a second, pave the way for ABC to renew the show for an eighth season — though it is unclear if that will happen right away or closer to the May upfronts.
The quartet’s new base salary would be around $325,000 per episode, up from the $275,000 they had been earning. With additional compensation factored in, including back-end and bonuses,...

It’s pilot season in the Us. The time of year where the networks finance and film the best (well, most marketable) pilot scripts that grabbed their attention, with the hope of a few being strong enough to warrant a series commitment for 2011/12.
Many will be so heinous they’ll never air; some will impress execs enough that they’ll go to series, only to be axed amidst low ratings; a handful may be lucky enough to last a whole season on-air; and a few may even be popular with audiences and justify a second season. Well, you never know!
Below is a list of 20 pilots that have my interest right now, based solely on their premise or the talent involved. Obviously, it’s unfair to judge these pilots before we’ve seen them, but this is intended to be a quick overview of the positive and negative buzz surrounding them right now.

In troubling television news last week, the great Ken Marino ("The State," "Veronica Mars," The Ten, "Children's Hospital," "Party Down," my dreams) was cast as Rob Riggle's brother on the CBS pilot "Home Game." This rather broke my heart because CBS, let's face it, is sort of the least cool place you could hope to get a pilot. For every "How I Met Your Mother" there's a "Mike and Molly" (and a "Two and A Half Men" and a "Rules of Engagement" and a "Big Bang-let's just say, all the other comedies, okay?). It saddens me to think of Marino, a genuinely sharp comedic talent, filing down those edges to fit into the soft, bland, predictable formula of a CBS sitcom. Is it fair to judge a TV show before they've even begun filming? Nope. Am I doing it anyway? Yawrp. Let's take a moment of silence and reflect...
