The suspense is getting intense on FX’s A Murder at the End of the World with just two episodes left. Episode six, “Crime Seen,” quickly reveals that Darby (Emma Corrin) survives after being trapped under a pool cover at the end of episode five. Lee (Brit Marling) and David (Raul Esparza) rescue her, but David leaves the two women alone.
Back in Darby’s room, Lee confirms she was the one who sent Darby the Morse code message to meet. Darby really wants to trust Lee, but she brings up the fake passport she found and feels she isn’t being honest with her. Lee admits everyone she’s been honest with is gone, except for David. She insists she just wants to keep Darby safe.
Lee knows Andy can’t be trusted.

We’re getting down to the wire with FX’s limited series A Murder at the End of the World. Going into episode five, the big question was whether it would leave viewers with more questions than answers as to who the killer could possibly be. And by the end of episode five of the seven-episode season, it felt as though we did move a little closer to learning the murderer’s identity – even as the mysterious killer claimed another victim.
Episode four ended with Darby (Emma Corrin) realizing Zoomer (Kellan Tetlow) could be Bill’s son and not Andy’s. Episode five, “Crypt,” begins with her giving Zoomer a hug. We’re then taken back to when she and Bill (Harris Dickinson) were on their murder mystery road trip.

FX’s new murder mystery series A Murder at the End of the World follows Darby Hart (The Crown’s Emma Corrin), an amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker affectionately referred to as a Gen Z Sherlock Holmes. One of nine guests invited to a billionaire’s remote estate, Darby’s skills are put to the test when one of the guests is murdered.
Episode one of the seven-episode limited series opens with Darby presenting the true crime memoir she wrote, The Silver Doe, to a bookstore audience. A bit awkward and shy, she begins to tell them about a murder victim. It’s obvious she was obsessed with the case, drawn to it in part because she’s the coroner’s daughter.

Readying to share an excerpt from her first book, an author stands at the podium and warns the room she’s going to start with the ending. “I was told you’re not meant to do that at these readings,” she says, “but I’m going to do it anyway.” Ultimately, Darby Hart (Emma Corrin) omits a few key details of her favored passage — she’s there to sell books, after all, and has to hook an audience who initially showed up to hear from another writer — but the choice speaks volumes about who she is and what her true crime story is designed to do. It’s not about whoever’s waiting at the end of the investigation; it’s not about studying a killer, learning from his twisted psyche, or even catching him. Instead, Darby’s account invites readers to reconsider what’s right in front of them,...

In the opening scene of the new FX miniseries A Murder at the End of the World, a woman named Darby stands in front of a small bookstore crowd to do a reading from her true crime book The Silver Doe. She is very young, speaks haltingly, and seems determined to vanish inside her voluminous red coat and the hoodie she’s wearing beneath it. As she fumbles through her introductory remarks, audience members begin to stand up and leave, convinced that this odd person has nothing of interest to say.

We are at a place where humanity exists between two spheres. The “real world” is our tangible environment. We can touch things, unpacking textures, tastes and scents. And then, there is another world. Though artificial, and born of the internet and technology, AI is more life-like than ever. Innovation, after all, is infinite. While many of us glide between both sectors, Gen Z and the Alpha generation are coming of age, having only ever been interconnected and heavily online. For better or for worse, this way of living will affect human beings until it all goes dark.

FX’s A Murder at the End of the World, a limited series from the creators of The O.A. starring Emma Corrin, has become the first TV series to be pushed back from its premiere amid Hollywood’s historic dual strike.
Originally scheduled to bow Aug. 29, the seven-episode murder-mystery series starring Clive Owen will now arrive at a date to be determined in November.
The decision comes as executives across the film and TV landscape have been mulling whether to release previously completed projects or hold them for later — and when stars can promote them — during the ongoing strikes between the Writers Guild and the performers union, SAG-AFTRA. Both unions are on strike against studios and streamers who comprise the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers over such issues as the use of AI and residuals.

A Murder at the End of the World, the limited series that stars Emma Corrin, Clive Owen, Harris Dickinson and Brit Marling, has had its premiere pushed by FX.
The Disney-owned network has moved the series, which was created by Marling and Zal Batmanglij, from August 29 to November.
The move comes amidst a double strike from writers and actors and is thought to be one of the first, if not the first, high-profile TV series outside of the broadcast fall schedule to push back its premiere date as a result of the labor action.
Actors and writers are unable to do press and promotion during the strikes for struck companies, making it hard to generate buzz for a show, particularly one that is original and not based on existing IP.
The series will now make its Hulu-exclusive debut in November, though an exact date has not been set.

2023 Drama League Awards winners: Annaleigh Ashford (‘Sweeney Todd’) takes Distinguished Performance
Winners of the 2023 Drama League Awards were announced on Friday, May 19, 2023, at an in-person ceremony, hosted by Emmy-winning reporter Frank Dilella at The Ziegfeld Ballroom. The Drama League Awards honor both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions from the 2022-2023 theater season.
“Leopoldstadt” asserted itself as the dominant play of the season, picking up the Best Play prize. Tom Stoppard’s drama has been perched atop Gold Derby’s Tony Awards odds since we launched the prediction center. With Tony favorite “Kimberly Akimbo” out of the running for Best Musical (the Drama League already considered that tuner for its Off-Broadway run), “Some Like it Hot” cruised to a win in that category. It prevailed over four of its fellow Tony nominees: “& Juliet,” “New York, New York,” and “Shucked.”

The Outer Critics Circle (Occ), the official organization of writers on New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers and national publications, today announced the nominees for the 72nd Annual Outer Critics Circle Awards, honoring the 2022-2023 Broadway and Off-Broadway season.
“New York, New York” received a major backing from this announcement, which coincides with the production’s opening night. The new musical with songs from John Kander, the late Fred Ebb and Lin-Manuel Miranda earned a whopping 12 nominations, the most of any production. “Some Like it Hot” trails just behind it with 10 nominations. The most nominated plays of the season are the Off-Broadway sensation “Downstate” and Broadway epic “Leopoldstadt,” both with six nominations apiece.
This is the first season with newly reconstructed acting categories, which have removed gender specifications, and have been expanded to separately include off-Broadway performers. In the previous configuration, actors in Broadway and off-Broadway productions competed in the same category.

The Drama League today announced the nominations for the 2023 Drama League Awards. Honoring achievements on and Off-Broadway, the nominations were announced this morning by Roger Bart (“Back to the Future: The Musical”) and Justin Guarini (“Once Upon A One More Time”) at the New York Library for the Performing Arts. Winners will be revealed at the 89th Annual Drama League Awards ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Friday, May 19, 2023.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced a theater season in New York ever like this one,” noted Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks. “There’s been a range, a breadth, an expansion of possibility that has been truly astonishing to witness. Theater makers have inspired not only with their creativity, but also with their drive and determination to serve audiences with vision and talent. These nominees reflect the promise and greatness inherent in the work of theater folk, and I can’t help but be deeply proud.

Almost everything about The Bushwick Starr and The Public Theater’s sold-out Off-Broadway production Dark Disabled Stories, written by and starring Ryan J. Haddad, has been an attempt at access-oriented storytelling. The single caveat to this needle-moving stage production is proudly highlighted by the show’s main character, a fictionalized version of Haddad. At one point during this series of vignettes, “Ryan” tells non-disabled audience members this is not, in fact, a story designed for them. “Not everything is accessible to us,” Haddad says. “So why should we make everything accessible to you?”
The twist — and one of the major successes — of this series of autobiographical monologues is that it ultimately is accessible to all because accessibility is not just tacked on. It’s aesthetic, a likely surprise to both disabled and non-disabled audiences in its ingenuity and utility. It’s a meaningful effort, especially for those who have been historically excluded from enjoying theater,...

During a pre-recorded Atx panel airing Saturday, Ramy actor Steve Way slammed the Motion Picture Academy for its failure to provide all necessary accommodations for the disabled, prior to this year’s Academy Awards, where a wheelchair ramp was introduced for the first time.
“At this year’s Oscars, we got a ramp, we got an Asl interpreter—for one segment—and everyone’s like, ‘Oh my god, this is great,’” Way said. “It’s progress, yes. But you’re also admitting that for the past 31 years, the [Academy] has been violating federal law by not having a ramp and interpreters.”
A ramp was introduced at the 93rd Oscars as a means of access to the stage for James LeBrecht, the co-director of Crip Camp, who uses a wheelchair. Unfortunately, as actor Ryan J. Haddad (The Politician) noted during the panel, the ramp may have only been added, given LeBrecht’s own assertiveness.
