A teaser has just been released from the pilot episode for a new paranormal comedy titled Cursed, from Head Above Water creator Connor Fairclough and award-winning producer Tristan Barr, that parodies the clichés and techniques typically found in the horror genre, similar in style to Shaun of the Dead. Shot with the intention of an online release, Cursed draws influence and satirises such horror films as The Conjuring, It, The Nun, and Annabelle.
The story follows Isaac (Kyle McCallion), who releases a curse on himself after fiddling with a Ouija Board one drunken night. Through each episode, he and his useless housemate Ned (Omar Al-Sobky) must deal with countless paranormal hauntings whilst managing their daily mundane lives.
Ever been interrupted by an interdimensional force of evil whilst on the toilet? Or had to take responsibility of a possessed doll when you haven’t even mastered personal responsibility? Had to distance...

Shot in just one take, BarrLipp Productions’ gritty crime drama Watch The Sunset follows an ex-bikie who is trying to reunite his broken family torn apart by his devastating drug addiction. Now “Shot in one take” doesn’t always work on the big screen and feels more suited for TV shows but I am always interested in seeing how its done. On top of that this film is “based on Real Events” and it’s Aussie; and I am all about Aussie true crime drama (check out movies like Wolf Creek, Chopper or the long running series Underbelly (incredible), so I am in!
Watch The Sunset has an underlying theme about effects of Crystal Meth or Ice, which is very real contemporary Australian issue; and the one shot concept of the film allows the viewers to observe the harsh reality of this regional problem on an intimate and raw level.

Not a lot of filmmakers are rushing to make contributions to the single-take film style. Apart from being very difficult to pull off without a tonne of preparation beforehand you have to have something compelling in that single shot will captivate the audience's attention for a solid feature length run time. Australian filmmakers Tristan Barr and Michael Gosden believe they have such a film with their thriller Watch The Sunset. Not only did the duo write and direct their flick but they also star in it along with Chelsea Zeller (who also helped with the screenplay), Annabelle Williamson, Aaron Walton, Zia Zantis-Vinycomb, Catherine Dawson, and Dennis Robertson. The cast all went to the same acting school, Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne, with exception...

If you loved Animal Kingdom, you’ll dig Watch the Sunset – an Australian crime-thriller that’s currently looking for a release sometime later this year. We caught up with co-director Tristan Barr to see where the movie is at, why they’re crowdfunding (post completion) and whether we might see the movie here in the UK.
Is it fair to say the film is similar in tone to Animal Kingdom?
Yes definitely, Animal kingdom was a strong reference when making the film. They captured an Australian crime story in a very engaging and real way. Another reference was Snowtown and more unknown film called Boxing Day. We wanted to tell another Aussie crime story in intimate and unescapable way and that is why we decided to shoot entirety of it in the one shot, without cutting to relieve the audience.
Is this based on a true story?

Crime-thriller Watch the Sunset is described as Australia.s first one-shot feature film, following a man on the run from his bikie past in one take.
Shot in Kerang, the drama is billed by its makers - Australian filmmakers Tristan Barr, Damien Lipp and Michael Gosden - as a mix between Animal Kingdom and Gus Van Sant's controversial Elephant..
Irish Film Critic described the film as "gripping'.
Currently in post-production, Watch the Sunset has launched a crowdfunding campaign, and has also received Match funding from Creative Partnerships Australia, which means every dollar donated will be matched by Cpa.
