Exclusive: Shooting is underway on Son of the Soil, a thriller from Action Xtreme out of Nigeria.
Conceived by Action Xtreme CEO Chee Keong Cheung, who directs and produces, the film follows former former Nigerian soldier Zion Ladejo, tortured by his past, who is forced to return to Nigeria following the tragic and untimely death of his sister. Determined to find those responsible, he embarks on a campaign of vengeance and in the process seeks redemption for his past actions.
It is being shot entirely on location in Lagos, Nigeria.
British-Nigerian actor Raz Adoti has written the script, takes on the lead role and is also producing. He is known for roles in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated Amistad, Paul McGuigan’s Gangster No. 1; Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse; crime drama Haven, and the action horror Doom, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Lana Parrilla and Branko Tomovic have joined the cast of Action Xtreme’s Pov action thriller “Bad Day at the Office” from writer-director Chee Keong Cheung.
The two join the previously announced cast of John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Tamer Hassan, Roxanne Mckee (“Game of Thrones”) and Tim Fellingham (“Final Destination 5”).
Filmed entirely in the first-person perspective using GoPros, “Bad Day at the Office” follows Karl (Hannah) after he wakes up in a wrecked hotel room with no memory of what’s happened, where he is, or even who he is. The film will receive a theatrical tour around the UK as a series of event screenings.
UK distributor 101 Films has picked up Chee Keong Cheung’s zombie horror Redcon-1.
The company will distribute the film in collaboration with Intense Distribution, an arm of Chee’s production company Intense Productions.
Redcon-1, which stars Oris Erhuero, Carlos Gallardo, Akira Koieyama and Mark Strange. will be released as a series of event screenings around the UK, at both Vue theatres and indie sites, from September 28. Some 70 screenings in 28 cities are confirmed with more planned.
