Avenged Sevenfold have canceled their upcoming summer tour after singer M. Shadows was struck by a viral infection that left him “voiceless.”

Linkin Park continues to honor the late Chester Bennington.
On Wednesday, the rock band announced a new album, One More Light Live, dedicated to their late friend and lead singer. The LP is a compilation of songs that Bennington and the guys recorded live on their One More Light World Tour, which they were on when the singer died on July 20.
"We dedicate this live album to our brother Chester who poured his heart and soul into one more light. after we finished recording the album, we joked with Chester that -- since he had delivered so many stunning performances in the studio -- he had set the bar extra high to produce that alchemy on stage each night. Not surprisingly, he welcomed the challenge," the message posted on the band's website reads.

As we’ve learned over the last few years, licensing is a constant issue in the digital age of gaming. Music masters Harmonix certainly know this, as countless tracks have been pulled from the Rock Band Marketplace due to expired rights. This has been particularly unfortunate for those who came into the franchise with Rock Band Rivals, but the Boston-based studio has now come up with a solution.
With 2017 marking the 10 year anniversary of the franchise, Harmonix will be bringing back classic tracks throughout the year. Beginning this month, wanna-be rock stars will be able to grab three songs that previously appeared in past Rock Band titles. Coming from three different, but equally excellent, games, the returning tunes are:
Blue Oyster Cult: (Don’t Fear) The Reaper (Rock Band) Kansas: Carry on Wayward Son (Rock Band 2) All-American Rejects: Swing, Swing (Lego Rock Band)

The importance of a theme song to WWE’s premiere event, WrestleMania, is often overlooked.
Oftentimes, it sets the stage for the matches that will unfold on its grand stage. Others, it adds even more emotion to the most anticipated bouts on the card. A well-chosen song can accentuate the issues between the Superstars while simultaneously add to the electricity experienced by the fans. The most effective ones become universally associated with the event.
Bands such as Saliva and Limp Bizkit will even namedrop the Showcase of the Immortals before blowing the roof off of arenas with their hit. Some songs transcend the broadcast, world-renowned hits handpicked by Vince McMahon to represent his product.

I have no idea just how many hours of my life I’ve spent pretending to be a rock star with the Rock Band series. It’s to the point where Rock Band 4 is easily my most anticipated release of the year. I’ve got my old Dlc downloaded and my drum and guitar controllers are ready to go on the Xbox One as I eagerly awaiting the game’s release tomorrow.
In fact, I am so eager to learn more about the game that I contacted Harmonix, whose PR and Communications Lead, Nick Chester, was kind enough to answer a few questions. While most of the answers he gave me are more confirmation of things we already know, I did learn a few interesting things.
For example, ever wonder why The Who are the only band to appear in every main Rock Band game?

Rock Band made it almost two years since new songs hit the game, but that is all changing today with a tiny update for fans.
Just yesterday I saw the entire Rock Band set at a thrift store and was destined on buying it. Then my girlfriend told me to save my money, and we bought a desk instead. Dry humor aside, I have to admit I didn't think of Rock Band much at all up until that point.
Then today I see it on my news feed again! Harmonix has released 3 new tracks for Rock Band, which marks the first time the game saw new content since April 2013, almost two years ago! That person that actually bought the Rock Band set is one lucky duck, or he's really good at knowing the future!
The Songs include :
Arctic Monkey - "R U Mine?" (Yep, they spelled it like that.

Writer, director, producer Jon Schnepp is best known for his work creating the beloved show "Metalocalypse," but he’s buzzing about his new project: Hail to the King, an animated series of shorts created as a prequel to metal band Avenged Sevenfold’s upcoming iPhone game.
The entire six-episode series of Hail to the King can be seen right now on Machinima.com's Happy Hour Channel.
Schnepp is no stranger to the metal scene, creating the legendary band Dethklok for "Metalocalypse," so he was very excited to work with Avenged Sevenfold. "I got contacted by Machinima, and they asked me if I'd be interested in working with Avenged Sevenfold on this animated prequel to their iPhone game [Hail to the King: Deathbat] that also ties in with their album," Schnepp said. "This was back in April of this year. So I listened to a bunch of Avenged Sevenfold songs; I hadn't heard their new songs yet.

This week the popular site Machinima has made the entire six-episode series available for streaming on their Happy Hour YouTube channel. Hail to the King is directed by Jon Schnepp, producer of Adult Swim's splattery cult hit Metalocalypse, with which it shares some stylistic similarities (but way more monsters). The series chronicles the escapades of the Deathbat, the band's famous skull-faced mascot and anti-hero. It also serves as a prologue to the storyline for the highly-anticipated Hail to the King: Deathbat game app, which is slated for an early 2014 release. Avenged Sevenfold recently released Hail to the King, their latest heavy metal shred-fest. The rock group has tied a number of original productions into the album, and one of the main focal points is a Machinima web series of the same name created by Metalocalypse director Jon Schnepp. Hail to the King consists of six episodes, all of which have been released to Machinima's animation hub, Happy Hour. Each episode is about two minutes long and filled with all of the mythical creatures you would expect from an Amon Amarth album cover. There is hardly a second that isn't accompanied by the band's music, which provides a loud, intense soundtrack. Metal fans will want to turn their speakers up; everyone else should take warning. The animation is fairly crude and the plot almost nonexistent, but keep in mind Hail to the King is aimed at the Adult Swim crowd, and...

Metalocalypse producer Jon Schnepp has teamed up with chart-topping rockers Avenged Sevenfold to create an animated web series based on the band's sixth studio album Hail To The King, which debuted in August to worldwide acclaim and the band's best-ever sales. The horror-fantasy series, which looks about as splattery as Dethklok's ultra-violent misadventures in Metalocalypse, tells the saga of the “Deathbat,” the band's winged skull mascot, and will also serve as a prequel to the band's upcoming mobile video game app (appropriately titled Hail to the King: Deathbat), slated for release in early 2014. All six episodes will premiere simultaneously on Machinima's Happy Hour YouTube channel on Sunday, December 15th. In the meantime, check out the trailer below!

This week organisers announced the complete line-up for next year’s festival with none other than Aerosmith unveiled as the final addition to an already stellar line-up of hard rock prodigies, including Fall Out Boy, Avengeed Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Rob Zombie and Linkin Park.
The line-up and all details of the event were released in full at a lavish party in East London’s newest and most grandiose bar, Far Rock Away. With trippy and erotic artwork every which way you turn, a huge case of figurines housing characters from Lord of the Rings to Marvel, vintage arcade machines, an intimidating collection of vinyl, decadent couches and private areas with a menu of craft beers and cocktails that you will struggle to better, it is like Las Vegas condensed into a bar in the East End. A more rock ’n’ roll venue I would struggle to name you and the...

Rocksmith 2014 Edition, the sequel to the self-teaching guitar experience from 2011, is being released next Tuesday and it’ll be armed with 55 songs. Ubisoft released the entire tracklist ahead of the October 22nd launch today and Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC gamers will be treated to the likes of Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Queen and The Police, among other top artists from the golden years of rock.
Ubisoft also announced that downloadable songs purchased for the first game will be compatible with Rocksmith 2014 Edition. There will also be the option to import the disc-based songs from the original Rocksmith to play in the new sequel, but there will be a nominal fee charged for the privilege.
Rocksmith 2014 Edition allows gamers to learn how to play a real guitar or bass guitar by plugging an instrument in to their gaming console. The game determines the skill level of the player and adjusts the difficulty of lessons accordingly.

After Trivium blew onto the post-Nu Metal scene in 2005, they helped define the metalcore genre. While Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold etc, have since faded into a husk of what they once were, Trivium are still testing what the barriers of metalcore actually are and have produced an outstanding body of work that can be seen, in many ways, as the coming of age for the band. Trivium have pushed past the barrier they established with their sophomore release, Ascendancy.
After they kick-started somewhat of a metal renaissance, it then became somewhat fashionable to bash Trivium and these other bands based on their “one bad album”, The Crusade. And sadly, this continues in small pockets today. It took another two other releases to win their fans back, myself included, and 2011′s In Waves was a statement that Trivium had returned to form.

Rockers Avenged Sevenfold will reign atop the Billboard 200 next week with “Hail To the King” (175,000) knocking country king, Luke Bryan and his current No. 1, “Crash My Party,” down to No. 2 (105,000). “King” is the group’s second No. 1, following 2010’s “Nightmare.” The title is one of four debuts as we head into the busy fourth quarter. Fasten your seat belts, Machinima fans. Happy Hour is about to rock. The animation channel will be the home of Hail To The King, a six-episode series starring rock band Avenged Sevenfold and directed by Metalocalypse producer Jon Schnepp. Hail To The King will provide an origin story for Avenged Sevenfold's iconic symbol, the Death Bat. The series shares its name with the band's upcoming album, which will hit stores on the same day of the web series debut: August 27th. As the album rockets up the charts, five more weekly episodes will continue to chronicle fictional caricatures of the band's members on their quest for the Death Bat. Avenged Sevenfold previously reached out to its predominantly young male fans by donating its collective likeness to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Its alliance with Machinima represents a similar effort, as many of the network's viewers are also Call of Duty fans.

On June 26, Avenged Sevenfold led fans in an online scavenger hunt that resulted in the band’s new album cover art, title, and release date being announced.
Their sixth studio album, titled “Hail to the King,” will be released on Aug. 27, and the day before the band will play a free show at the Hollywood Palladium to celebrate the album release.
“Nightmare,” the band’s previous album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 765,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Like that album, “Hail to the King” will be produced by Mike Elizondo.
Their previous album was released just under five months after The Rev passed away. Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theater, filled in the position to record and toured with the band. Two songs, including the emotionally charged “Fiction” which features The Rev on vocals and piano, and “Save Me”, were dedicated to their fallen bandmate.

Ahh…Thrash. The much revered sub – genre of Heavy Metal, that has caused many an internet/bar room/kitchen table debate on whom, and what credentials, makes a band, or a particular album one worthy enough to be called ‘Thrash’! Fans of Thrash have a reputation that precedes them. Known for being elitist, close minded and stubborn they are however, some of the most enduring and devoted fans, any style of music has ever seen.
Thrash has also given us the most well known name in Metal …Metallica. They have gone on to become one of the biggest names in music, period. Not bad for four greasy metal heads from California.
Thrash Metal was a happy accident. American kids, mainly from the Bay area of San Francisco, that were fans of the Nwobhm (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal – that peaked between 1979 and 1981) mixed the sound of outfits such as Angel Witch,...

Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I lived in America. I mean, it’s not all the time but sometimes I wished I lived in America, and generally I wish I didn’t live here, or if I did I could at least freely trek the globe from anywhere to everywhere. Regardless of that though, and to return to my original point, sometimes I wish I lived in America. Sometimes these reasons are music festivals like Coachella and South By South West (SXSW) that stay put and don’t make it to our shores. A festival that has stirred my wanderlust a little bit recently is the Orion Music + More festival line up for 2013. You’ll see why in a moment.

Last month, we reviewed the sinister and ultra-violent concept album Hydra, the swan song of female-fronted extreme metallers Otep (check out that review here). That record is a gory, atmospheric checklist of murderous mini-tales, and one of the most brutal is “Apex Predator," the single which we previewed in that same article. The band selected that track for the album's first music video, in which band founder/vocalist Otep Shamaya stars as a white-eyed demoness. The clip is directed by PR Brown, who has previously worked with Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold. While the images aren't nearly as explicit as the song itself (the protagonist fantasizes, among other things, about how her pretty victim's head would look on a stick), it's still fairly unsafe for work, thanks to its highly eroticized approach to violence. “It might get banned in a few places for its sexual and violent content,” Shamaya commented prior to the video's release.

Having a band or song named after a group of countries often works well and here with Australasia it’s no different. The band name intrigues you, and the album title is somewhat unpronounceable. I’m still trying to figure it out, but could they be trying to say SinAtrA, or a type of 4×4 off-roader? With a name like Australasia you would expect them to hale from Australia, New Zealand or a country from that region of the world, but you would all be wrong. They are in fact an Italian duo combining Gian on guitar and Rico on drums. Along with these two main instruments we hear various synths throughout, which aid in enhancing the songs and make them more complete. The album is an instrumental one which works well in the setting of the music at hand here. It isn’t quite metal, nor is it rock,...
