Exclusive: Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, the comedy duo behind series such as The Eric Andre Show and Showtime’s Moonbase 8, have set a new comedy series featuring a pair of viral pranksters at Netflix.
The streamer has ordered Chad & Jt Go Deep, a series that features Chad Kroeger (aka Tom Allen rather than the Nickelback frontman) and Jt Parr, who are best known for a viral video that saw them handing out masks during the peak of the pandemic in Huntingdon Beach (see below).
The series, which launches on August 23, sees the self-described “stoke lords” take their activism to the streets of Southern California to spread awareness on important issues. But when one of their causes accidentally leads to their cancellation, they use their activism to win back the good graces and trust of the culture.

If you’re a one-hit wonder, two-hit wonder or even three-hit wonder from the Eighties, the road can be a tough place in 2019. You can try to eek out a living playing clubs, fairs and remote casinos, but profits are slim once you pay for things like gas, food and hotel rooms and your day-to-day existence can be quite dispiriting.
But as the fine people behind the Lost 80’s Live tour have learned, there is incredible strength in numbers. Every year, they throw together a bill stacked with Eighties bands...

Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump are taking us back in time -- to their days as video vixens!
Et has your exclusive first look at Wednesday night’s all-new episode of Andy Cohen’s Then and Now, which finds the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars reflecting on their work in music videos.
Watch: Lisa Rinna and Lisa Vanderpump Dish on Their Rhobh Drama
“I was trying to be an actress, and I had gotten the call to do a music video,” Rinna recalls. “At the time, MTV was big and I thought, Ok. That’s cool. It was some British guy with long, curly hair named John Parr. The video was ‘Naughty Naughty.’ I hardly remember a thing.”
There is one thing Rinna remembers, though: her “really bad haircut!”
“They did my hair, like, all forward,” she says. “It’s awful. It is one of those moments of, ‘What the f**k was I thinking?’ Like...

If you haven’t seen the 1986 classic gymnastics film American Anthem then I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Featuring music from John Parr and a young Janet Jones showcasing her incredible flexibility, it’s fun for the entire family. Actually it’s one of those “So bad it’s good” movies and I watch it every single time it’s on television, which is virtually never. If you’ve seen the movie than you’ll know exactly who this guy above is. His real name is Tiny Wells and unfortunately he’s not with us anymore. Wells died in 1990 due to a motorcycle crash. However,

Once a blockbuster staple, the power ballad was the ultimate movie accompaniment. We look back at some of the classics...
For a glorious period from the mid-80s throughout the 90s, the biggest summer blockbusters were only worth their salt if they had an equally gargantuan song at the head their soundtrack. Often the success of one was inexorably linked to the other, with the likes of Four Weddings And A Funeral's feats matched and even exceeded by Wet Wet Wet's accompanying Love Is All Around.
The greatest and most successful songs belong to the power ballad genre, and are as emotionally charged and forceful as the gods of epic balladry such as Journey, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi and Meat Loaf. As the 90s became the 00s and the charts became increasingly irrelevant, the movie ballad became almost defunct, with even the song-dominant film soundtrack being...

You know what’s funny about one hit wonder types? Depending on the song, they never ever leave your conscious. Like if it’s a song you love you somehow develop a fixation on the artist and yet you never listen to any of their other music. This is how I feel about John Parr. He’s the guy who sang one of the best pump up 80s songs of all time: “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion).” He also had a number one hit in the Us called “Naughty Naughty.” And if any of you are super fans you should be familiar

This Monday, A&E's sun and sin-soaked The Glades kicks off its fourth season and star Jordan Wall (who plays the overzealous Daniel Green) assembled an exclusive playlist for ETonline!
Although the show's setting plays host to a whole lotta murders, in reality, we still dream of visiting Florida's Glades!
Jordan Wall's Gotta Getaway Playlist
1. When I Come Around - Green Day
Favorite song by my favorite band. It was the first music video I ever saw, really welcoming me into the whole MTV generation. The repetitive riff in the track is so simple, yet so intoxicating, reeling you right in within the opening seconds.
2. Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand - Primitive Radio Gods
The perfect blend of melody and lyric, which never fails to affect me on some level no matter how many times I listen to it. It is the ultimate example of music and poetry being linked...

Mixing football phenoms with pop music can often lead to disastrous results (the Black Eyed Peas halftime show, the Super Bowl Shuffle) but leave it to — who else? — Tim Tebow to restore the faith. Tebow has already been the divine inspiration for catchy, clever fan mixes and a genius rewrite of “St. Elmo’s Fire” (“Tim Tebow’s Fire”) by none other than John Parr himself.
Last night Jimmy Fallon joined the legion of musical reimaginings about the Denver Broncos quarterback when he turned David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” into an ode to Tebow. (Tebode?) Dressed in full Ziggy Stardust...

"Gonna be a man in motion/All I need's my Bronco team/Take me where my future's lyin'/Tim Tebow's fire." And so goes the chorus to singer/songwriter John Parr's reworked version of "St. Elmo's Fire." Sadly, "Tim Tebow's Fire" is hardly the first bastardization of a 1980s favorite. Other dubious Brat Pack-era reboots and proposed reboots: 1. 32 Candles: First off, 32 Candles?! Why didn't they just call this would-be sequel, in the works several years ago, Fire Hazard? Secondly, unless the subtitle was An Overdue Apology to Asians and Asian-Americans for Long Duk Dong, 16 Candles is a John Hughes comedy best left as a curious artifact of a...

Tim Tebow has inspired a lot of people -- some of those people make beer in his honor, some take pictures of themselves Tebowing, while others write songs about him.
Count John Parr, English musician best known for his 1985 hit song "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)," as another person apparently inspired by Tim Tebow. Parr has updated his hit "St. Elmo's Fire" to honor the Denver Broncos quarterback and he's called it: "Tim Tebow's Fire."
Where the original "St. Elmo's Fire" began with "Growing up / You don't see the writing on the wall / Passing by / Moving straight ahead you knew it all," the new "Tim Tebow's Fire" Parr sings, "Growing up / Gotta keep your eye on the ball / Make it fly / Give it everything, give your all" -- you get the idea.

Earlier this week we envisioned five movie roles for Denver quarterback Tim Tebow, now that he's officially become the most popular person on the planet. Some of you thought it was amusing, while others ... well, not so much. But maybe -- just maybe -- we were onto something. Though Tebow has not signed on to star in a remake of the 1985 "Brat Pack" hit St. Elmo's Fire, the man behind the song of the same name, John Parr, has, for some reason, re-recorded the lyrics for his smash '80s hit by adding in a bunch of stuff about Tim Tebow. So now we have lines like, "Gonna be a man in motion/All I need is my Broncos team/Take me where my future's lyin' - Tim Tebow's fire!" No word on whether this new version of the song will be...

When the words "St. Elmo's Fire remade as Tebow tribute" first found its way into my consciousness either through an inbox tip or from one of the various websites on my Google Reader, I quickly scanned passed it, ignoring it completely. This Tebow thing has been a fun ride and fascinating to watch from all angles, but everything's been pretty much covered at this point. Dude's not good at football, but wins all the time, because apparently God wills it or something. Did I really need a shitty parody song to reiterate all that again? It wasn't until The Awl actually linked to this article over at Fox 31 Denver where I gave it a second look. Because, apparently, it's no parody. It's an actual honest-to-goodness sincere tribute to number 15 himself. And that is something that cannot be ignored. John Parr, the [...]...

Tim Tebow says his musical tastes run toward Rascal Flatts and U2, but one '80s artist happens to be such a big Tebow fan that he remade his trademark song. John Parr - the British musician behind the Grammy-nominated hit "St. Elmo's Fire" - reworked the song from the Demi Moore film as a tribute to the Denver Broncos quarterback. In "Tim Tebow's Fire," Parr sings, "I can see a new horizon underneath the blazin' sky. I'll be where the eagle's flyin' higher and higher. Gonna be a man in motion, all I needs my Broncos team. Take me where my future's lyin,...

Elton John, who just two years ago insisted that marriage was for straight people and gays should be happy with civil partnerships, is now set to perform a benefit concert on Wednesday, January 19th for The American Foundation for Equal Rights. Below you can see Dan Savage issue a challenge to Stephen Colbert concerning the "It Gets Better" project.

The summer of 1985. Has it really been twenty-five years. Wow! I don't really feel old, but its amazing that era was so long ago and yet the memories feel like yesterday. I was ten going on eleven and enjoying my summer break. Though my parents wouldn't let me leave my neighborhood with my friends, they always took me to the cinema as often as they could, which is where my love of movies comes from. I consider myself fortunate to have shared some great movie moments with my family and with my parents coming to town to visit me this summer, we hope to have some more.Hollywood still makes great movies today, but the eighties were a time when most of the movies you saw were good. At least they seemed to be good at that early age. Time can often be cruel and with maturity comes the revelation...

Before you even get started: 1) Rocky was released in 1976, so "Eye of the Tiger" doesn't even qualify for this list, and 2) it wouldn't have merited inclusion anyhow because, by "inexplicable," I mean bad. So, you won't be seeing any Kenny Loggins on this list (Loggins' worst songs were better than any of the ones below), nor will you see "Fame," or any other '80s soundtrack song that didn't abuse synthesizers. I have no doubt that many of you actually like some of these songs, but they only worked given their context and the decade. Unless it's a parody movie, you can't use any of these songs anymore. Because they are bad. Very bad.
And please, do not try to justify the quality of number two. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," or "Love is a Battlefield" or "Hell is for Children," maybe. But that song? No.

Tuesday night's (March 23) episode of "American Idol" deeply depressed MTV News' Jim Cantiello, mostly because of the parade of sub-par performances. But not only were the performances themselves problematic, but the song selection was some of the weirdest and most random in the history of the show.
This week's theme was supposed to be "Teen Idols" (which would have made sense considering this week's mentor was Miley Cyrus), but for some reason it was changed at the last minute to "Chart-Topping Hits." All of the songs performed on Tuesday night reached the apex of the Billboard Hot 100, which only illustrated how bizarre (and occasionally awful) the taste of the American populist is.
But the strangeness of the history of top songs on Billboard really could have worked in the favor of a lot of the contestants. So here are the Billboard chart-toppers that we should have heard last night (provided...

Alphabetically trolling through my admittedly too-massive collection of 80s music last weekend, I came upon a song I hadn't thought about in years: David Foster's St. Elmo's Fire theme. Not the John Parr "Man in Motion" song, but the instrumental ballad. I skipped to the next track, but not before shaking my head at the Brat Pack one more time.
Now, Joel Schumacher and Topher Grace are reviving St. Elmo's Fire for TV, thereby striking when the iron is white hot. It was Schumacher's big break back in 1985, and his career has been such a mixed bag since that when I first saw a trailer for Phantom of the Opera, people in the theater booed when his name came up in the credits. Wish I'd thought of that...
Anyway, ABC will develop the show with Schumacher, Grace, former ABC programming vixen Jamie Tarses, and Dan Bucatisnsky, who will also write the teleplay.
