After years of development, “The Sandman” has arrived. Neil Gaiman’s beloved graphic novel series now exists as a Netflix series, with Gaiman serving as co-creator and executive producer on the show. Many fans weren’t sure if this day would ever come given how difficult Gaiman’s books are to adapt, with “The Sandman” at one point planned as a movie to be directed by and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Tom Sturridge fills the titular role in this iteration of the story, which finds Dream imprisoned for a century and busting out to find his kingdom in ruins. He then sets out on a journey that puts him in contact with friends and foes alike, learning to better understand humanity in the process.

About one month ago, it was reported that Benicio Del Toro was in early talks with 20th Century Fox to star in Shane Black's The Predator. While THR reveals that Del Toro is no longer lined up for the project, another actor is now being pursued for the lead role.

Netflix announced that it has renewed Narcos for seasons 3 and 4. The first two seasons of the series followed the rise and fall of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura.
Narcos’ first two seasons was told from the points of view of Escobar and DEA Agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook).
“This will be the end of Pablo Escobar. He will die this season,” executive producer Eric Newman tells USA Today. “The show was never about Pablo Escobar. It was always about the drug war, and the drug war continues on. In fact, it continues on into the present.”
Netflix didn’t give out much intelligence on where Narcos will go after Escobar's death. The series, which told the real-life stories of Escobar's Medellín Cartel in the late 1980s and the law enforcement agencies that took him down,...

Here’s a theory: For any TV creators who get more than a season to prove themselves, it’s Season 2 where they really figure out what kind of show they’re making. And with “Narcos,” we see some pretty clear proof of that.
Season 1 of Netflix’s fact-based drama — about how cocaine created criminal empires in Colombia and beyond — was jam-packed with over 15 years of drug cartel history, and the result, unfortunately, was not consistently engaging for anyone other than the most passionate fans of the subject matter. But from the first moments of Season 2, the Netflix series shows new focus. Thanks to a much narrower scope — the 18-month hunt for Pablo Escobar, following his escape from La Catedral prison — characters are allowed to breathe more. The power struggles have real weight. And the potential for seasons to come becomes clear.

In its freshman outing, Netflix’s Narcos functioned as a dramatization of the rise and fall of the infamous kingpin Pablo Escobar (portrayed here by a magnetic Wagner Moura), whose drug-powered empire shook Colombia in the 1980s before crumbling under the cumulative might of hand-picked DEA agents and the police. Going into its sophomore season, however, the show found itself facing a handful of narrative hurdles that threatened to thwart the multifaceted story it strove to tell. Starting off, the series had always been somewhat of a slow burn, indulging in protracted periods of build-up before slamming audiences with short, sudden chase sequences or gun battles to keep them invested.
This worked well enough, but it lacked the heft and the excitement that many were expecting.

The DEA. Search Bloc. The Cali Cartel. Los Pepes. It’s fair to say that Pablo Escobar doesn’t have to search too far to locate a handful of enemies hungry for revenge. It’s this tension that threatens to boil over once the infamous kingpin escapes the clutches of prison which, as today’s breathless new trailer shows, is an arc that will underpin the upcoming second season of Narcos.
Set for a premiere next Friday, September 2, the show’s second outing welcomes back Wagner Moura as the scenery-chewing Escobar, with the imminent batch of episodes poised to take a deep dive into the kingpin’s warped personality.
That lays the groundwork for a much more focused affair, after Moura revealed recently that Narcos season 2 trades the epic scope of its forebear for intimate drama that zeroes in on Pablo himself.

If the critically-acclaimed inaugural season of Narcos chronicled more than a decade of Pablo Escobar’s criminal empire, season 2 is set to be a much more focused affair, zeroing in on the final year of Escobar’s twisted reign.

Pablo Escobar is a drug kingpin who needs no introduction. At the peak of his historic reign at the tip-top of a Colombian empire, Escobar’s cartel supplied upwards of 80 percent of all cocaine that made it across the border and into the States, and his dramatic rise has proved rich material for countless features and insightful documentaries.
Netflix opted for a slightly different route into Escobar’s criminal empire with Narcos, a gripping, serialized take on the famed kingpins of the ’80s and the brave law enforcers who locked horns with them in the criminal underworld.
It resulted in electrifying entertainment, and it’s little wonder why Netflix has issued the go-ahead for a second season. Set for premiere on September 2, the online giant has now rolled out our first-look trailer (via Independent), accompanied by a handful of moody images that you can feast your eyes on below.

Boyd Holbrook © Flaunt magazine, Fe Pinheiro, photographerI regret to inform you that I cannot begin this story with the sizzling lede I'd intended. But the redacted story, of where Boyd Holbrook called me from and the new project he's working on -- were nevertheless a good reminder that he's been an exciting talent to watch. The still-untitled third Wolverine solo movie (let's just call it Wolverine 3 for now) has found its main villain. Deadline reports that Boyd Holbrook, who plays DEA agent Steve Murphy in the Netflix series Narcos, will play "a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise" who goes up against Hugh Jackman's gruff hero. Good luck with that, bub.
If you haven't seen Narcos, you may recognize Holbrook from his roles in Milk, Gone Girl, A Walk Among the Tombstones, or Run All Night. The description of his character for this movie is pretty vague, so I can't even fathom a guess as to which Marvel character he might be playing here. 20th Century Fox is obviously limited in regards to which characters they have the rights to, so maybe they're just making up an entirely new villain for Holbrook to play since they won't be able...

The new series "Narcos," created by Chris Brancato, Eric Newman and Carlo Bernard, represents a pretty ambitious step for Netflix. Set over several years in the 1970s and '80s, the crime drama pairs the story of Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), a tough and obsessive DEA agent, with that of notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), who played Robin Hood to the poor folk of Colombia while racking up billions of dollars in the cocaine business. Read More: 7 New Netflix Shows to Binge Watch in August 2015 (And the Best Episodes of Each) It's a pretty classic story of sex, drugs and violence, and one that's been popularized a hundred times over. In fact, in advertising copy, Netflix has been using the tagline "First they got the coke. Then they got the money. Now the Colombian cartels want the power" — a clear reference to one of the most classic gangster film lines ever uttered,...

Gone are the days when Netflix had but one series per season; this summer has seen the streaming behemoth debut an electric new sci-fi property and the continuation of arguably its most popular show. Next in line is Narcos, premiering all ten of its episodes on Friday, August 28. The show tells the true-life story of the slow rise to power of Pablo Escobar and his massive cocaine empire that spanned cities and countries, and the handful of DEA agents who made it their life goal to put an end to his operation.
Like the service’s previous hour-long dramas, Narcos is handsomely produced, with unmistakably confident direction from José Padilha (2014’s RoboCop) and a warm color pallet that highlights the trickly sweat-drenched actors and the sticky air of both the Miami and Colombian city streets of the late 70’s/early 80’s. Unfortunately, where...

As "King of Cocaine" Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) prepares to assume his seat in Colombia's House of Representatives, in the third episode of Netflix's new drama, "Narcos," the image alternates between the unkempt fields of his peasant youth and the chamber's imposing façade. Distilling Escobar's rapid, violent rise to power to a single juxtaposition, the moment nonetheless fails to demystify the famed figure's strange ambition, which was to command the drug trade through threats, reprisals, and assassinations—and then to redistribute the resulting wealth to Colombia's poorest ranks in the form of houses and hospitals. For the voice we hear is not his own. In "Narcos," a series with more voiceover narration than your average radio play, the dominant perspective is that of DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), a pretty blond gringo sent down from Miami as the U.S. opens an international front in the "War on Drugs.

A brand new trailer has arrived for Netflix’s next original series Narcos, exploring the activities of infamous drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Set during the druggy excesses of the 1980s, the series delves into the exploits of the kingpin himself and the Medellin cartel, who aided him in funnelling buckets of cocaine in and out of Colombia. This latest preview provides new insight thanks to Boyd Holbrook’s voiceover as one of the DEA agents lumped with the thankless task of bringing Escobar down.
Alongside Holbrook is Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as a fellow agent and Wagner Moura in the plum role of the gangster himself. And the blood-soaked, violence-fuelled gangster tip is played heavily here, with more than a few nods to some of the genre’s classics. What’s worthwhile noting while watching the trailer is how little public presence the series has thus far. It’s...
