Title: Run & Jump Director: Steph Green Starring: Maxine Peake, Edward MacLiam, Will Forte, Brendan Morris, Ruth McCabe, Sharon Horgan, Michael Harding A compassionate drama that wants to sift through and examine notions of expanded family, “Run & Jump” flirts with being a lot of different things, but succeeds in being none of them. The debut feature film of co-writer and director Steph Green, this Irish import — featuring one of two dramatic turns by ex-”Saturday Night Live” star Will Forte this season — has a rooted sense of place, but lacks the resolution and fortitude to push past pretty, dressed-up surface conflict and into areas that might leave a lasting [ Read More ]

We’ve already begun talking about Season 4 and what is coming down the pipe, but I’m not quite finished talking about Justified Season 3. Before we send it off properly, let’s look back at the very best moments and scenes we’ll never forget. We tried to keep the list along the lines of full scenes rather than one liners and favorite quotes. Here are our Top 20 Moments of Justified Season 3–see if your favorite made the list.
20. Charlie flees the country with evidence money (“When The Guns Come Out”)
We thought we saw the last of the whole evidence money thread, but when it came up again we never thought that Charlie (Casey Sander), who was in charge of the evidence locker, would take it and run off to Mexico. When Winona (Natalie Zea) stole the money, she was criticized for acting out of character. Charlie’s act...

Justified, Season 3, Episode 2: “Cut Ties”
Written by Benjamin Cavell
Directed by Michael Watkins
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm Et on FX
Moreso than with most “prestige” dramas, seasons of Justified tend to follow a pretty set formula in terms of serialization. After a premiere in which the season’s major players are introduced, we get somewhere between two or three episodes that feel less tethered to the season’s master plot, opting instead to flesh out Raylan’s fellow marshals a bit, and remind us of what Raylan’s day job really entails. (Last season, this was especially true of “The Life Inside” and “The I of the Storm.”) “Cut Ties” hews to that pattern more than it breaks from it, but it’s an interesting installment nonetheless – and for unusual reasons.

This fall, Daddy's home! The first trailer for The Stepfather, a remake of the 1987 thriller of the same name, has hit the web today. Yep, this is that movie with a poster that has hands holding a tie in a menacing way (see that here). It's kind of like Disturbia, except that the serial killer is actually this guy's soon-to-be-stepfather, not his neighbor. Oooh, that one give you chills? Of course, this features plenty of hotties in bikinis (is there any other way to sell a horror?) like Amber Heard and plenty of menacing "I don't trust this guy" moments. Anyway, I'll probably check this out, but it doesn't look like it'll be anything too special. 2009 might be the year that converts back into thinking the horror genre can have upstanding films. First we had Drag Me to Hell, which stands out as one of the few horrors with an excellent production value, and now we have The Stepfather.
The Stepfather Trailer
Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school to find his mother (Sela Ward) happily in love and living with her new boyfriend, David (Dylan Walsh). As the two men get to know each other, Michael becomes more and more suspicious of the man who is always there with a helpful hand. Is he really the man of her dreams or could David be hiding a dark side?
Wow, who knew that Dylan Walsh had it in him to play such a dark character. He has the perfect look.

This morning B-d reader Joey M. tipped us off to the trailer for The Stepfather remake, which was directed by Prom Night's Nelson McCormick. While I typically shy away from Sony Screen Gems movies (they're made for kids), seeing Dylan Walsh from "Nip/Tuck" and the sexy, sexy Amber Heard (All Th Boys Love Mandy Lane) have made it worth checking out. What did you guys think of the trailer? I got a kick out of the "America's Most Wanted" image that looks nothing like Walsh's character. Screen Gems has slated the pic for release on October 16th, 2009. Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school to find his mother (Sela Ward) happily in love and living with her new boyfriend, David (Dylan Walsh). As the two men get to know each other, Michael becomes more and more suspicious of the man who is always there with a helpful hand.

A college football player's tribute to his late brother inspired his team to a record season, and the poignant true story is now headed for the big screen.
Ryan Merriman, Aidan Quinn and Andie MacDowell will play the Abbate family in Rick Bieber's indie drama "The 5th Quarter."
After the family's devastation after 15-year-old Luke Abbate's death in a 2006 car crash and their painful decision to donate his organs to five people, Wake Forest junior Jon Abbate (Merriman) asked his coach to change his jersey number to Luke's number, five. Just before the fourth quarter of each game, the linebacker began holding up five fingers along with his parents, Steven and Maryanne (Quinn and, in final negotiations, MacDowell) as they sat in section five of the stadium.
After news of the personal tribute spread, even opposing players and fans were joining them by the thousands, inspiring the family to...
