Wok + DEI - Talent = Me not making it thru the FREE 1st Episode- YUP Dat Bad...
13 June 2024
They tried Soooo hard to be Chill & Cool & low key & Dark & crass & as a matter of fact & as concerned & overdramatic - blah blah blah Blah is how much I enjoyed the 1st episode that I had to multitask to actually grind my way thru it -for all for you - so I can write this review that way you don't have to waste your time!!!

& it is so boring to boot. As it was so predictable & predictable is not very interesting for someone who might have 1/2 a brain.

Thank god I didn't have to pay for this drivel>

There were a few moments that I kind of enjoyed.

In the end it is kind of a dumb trivial show and could not see myself grinding my way thru any more the 3/4 of the 1st episode that I already watched.

Stupid As *. it could easily have been a 1/2 hour mini series - mostly bad acting too boot

Eye For An Eye is a slow-burning picture that will disappoint those who expect a Hollywood-like revenge movie and fans of Kill Bill should steer clear. Nevertheless, there are some nice action scenes that pick up the tempo, while there is also a certain amount of disturbing imagery and I'm referring to the Kiko's prison sequences. There is a well-placed and effective plot twist in the end but the final few minutes are somehow disturbing and then the film ends abruptly, leaving the viewer feeling a bit annoyed. If I had to rate the movie, I would give it a 6,5/10. It is definitely not among the best Spanish crime film exports of the last years but it will keep you glued to the screen and offer you some very nice moments.

I love Bill Paxton's acting and expected soooooo much more than this slow, boring drawn out waste of time.. and as with most train wreck movies.. it had an ending that was so disappointing I couldn't believe Bill Paxton had anything to do with it. The Passenger (III) (2023)

This is Not What I Expected at All - But In a Good Way - Lots of Twists & Turns- Great Plot - Such Good Acting
19 October 2023
The casting is perfect all around. Kyle Gallner and Johnny Berchtold deliver Oscar worthy performances as two damaged souls, one seething with psychotic anger, the other drowning in fear and regret. Every other character in the film, no matter how brief their appearance, contributes uniquely to the plot.

The story is unrelentingly dark and suspenseful. Through the eyes of the "passenger" we're taken on a forced ride of terror, always on edge as we anticipate the worst under the erratic thumb of (literally) the driving force.

It's especially impressive that director Carter Smith started his career as photographer. Many before him have leveraged their experience into directing but rarely have they shown such masterful work with actors and story.

The premiss for this series is superb and in parts it's executed effectively, but unfortunately absolutely none of the characters decisions were believable and when the series eventually gets down to the science behind why everything is happening the answers we get are complete pseudo-science rubbish and a cop out from the writers. It Seems to be the Same Scene Over & Over & Over Again - Result - Kind of Boring
25 September 2023
I had heard so much about the 'incredible script' and 'brilliant acting'. Well I don't know about you, but I don't consider shouting every line for two hours great acting. While the script consisted of about a million swear words, and if you can discern anything else from it you're a genius.

The only people who say this is a great film are those who aspire to sounding intelligent and being 'academic'. To those people I say just be honest and admit that this film is terrible.

The director was clearly trying to be arty by not having a plot and hoping that everyone would just assume that they didn't get it if they disliked it, well judging by the amount of positive reviews here it worked. Take my advice, do not waste two hours of your life on this film, I did but you still have a chance to escape!

When I Glanced Over the 1 & 2 Star Reviews - I Figured Surely it Can't be That Pretentious & Boring...
15 September 2023
When my gut told me that we were about two hours into this torture, I did something that I have NEVER done. I turned on my iPhone, held it close to my chest so as not to disturb anyone, and googled the running time of Tar. At that, I whispered to my squirming and uncomfortable companion, "thirty more minutes of this." To which he replied, "Ugh. Should we go?" We decided to stick it out to see how it ended. I'll have completely forgotten this movie by the morning, which is a shame coming from Steven Soderbergh. Wasted potential, there are a lot of good ideas here. Watch Logan Lucky or Magic Mike instead. I'll have completely forgotten this movie by the morning, which is a shame coming from Steven Soderbergh. Ugly setting. Lazily written main character, whose only arc falls flat. Shallow plot, and poorly paced, which is embarrassing for a movie that doesn't even break 90 minutes.

Good cinematography and interesting side characters, should've spent more time with them; I liked the "Rear Window-ish" elements, and the romantic drama.

All I Managed Was The 1st 5 Minutes - Realizing it Was Like Drinking Saccharine....
26 August 2023
Tsunami hits, 240k people die, let's make a movie about the rich British family who suffer horrible trauma (injuries! Non permanent, tho...separation! For a few days...fatigue! Dirt!) and who manage, somehow, to piece their lives back together once reunited, whisked by private plane covered by insurance to Singapore for medical care, then home to UK to resume their luxe little lives. OK, good for them, comes of living in the 1st world, having tons of disposable income, etc. But it makes for a boring movie, which it shouldn't have been since it's based on real events. I kept waiting to FEEL something, at least something other than wow! At the special effects. A much more interesting focus would be to delve into the lives of some of the local populace, the ones not-so-rich, not-so-white, no-so-insured. The ones, say, who lost homes, families, communities, livelihoods, health, virtually EVERYTHING that matters, and somehow neglected to have some Zurich-based insurance company covering all misfortunes. That scenario happened too, for real - and in numbers vastly surpassing the Tourist Trauma that is all this pricey film appears to care about. Those stories would be vastly more interesting, and would have made a far superior film.

No One Told Me This Was a COMEDY Their Pardner... I usually have a hard time watching any movie Pre '70s - This is a Great Example Why
26 August 2023
The first hour was not exactly exciting for me and some of the acting was a bit questionable right from the get go. John Wayne was good as always, but it was hard to like his character. I was certainly more inclined to get behind Montgomery Clift who, considering it was his first film, was very natural in his role and incredibly handsome. I could have easily got behind him in other ways too. I may have to search out some of his other films.

Walter Brennan was a great character as Groot too.

There seemed to be a lot of foreshadowing in the respect that I could tell what was going to happen and to whom by what they were saying or who they were talking to. That sort of thing has been far more subtle in more recent films, but appeared more obviously here. It didn't entirely ruin things, but it took away some of the surprise.

In general I quite liked the film and once things took their turn and it really sunk it's teeth in to the journey, it was far more enjoyable than the beginning had lead me to believe. So it was a shame that the ending was so very daft. There was a lot of build up for something that really let me down, despite it being a version of the ending I wanted, because the delivery of its resolution was lacking reality and the same seriousness that had been there throughout the film otherwise.

Kind of Boring - Very Dumb - Super Unrealistic - Pointless Narrative - Barely Made it Past 15 Minutes Before I Had to Pack it In...

Theres one reason to see this film, and only one reason...to see the landscapes. . The film itself is uninspiring, tedious, predictable, cliche and overwhelmingly dull. If you were unaware of what happened in Australia's history then maybe you will find this interesting. But if you are an educated person then its doubtful. The only redeeming feature is the scenery (and some of the actors). But as a story its rubbishAustralia's history then maybe you will find this interesting. Didn't Even Make it Half Way Into Episode #1- Plenty of Filler - Lots of Boring - Plethora of Predictable...
18 August 2023
Yeah, so for style, we basically have an extended knockoff of the Brad Pitt picture "Babel", which relies on a convention of several seemingly unrelated narratives set in the far-flung reaches of Morocco, Japan, southern California and Mexico. Each segment of each setting is presented as though it were its own story made in the lushly cinematic style of each country. As each story line develops, they serve together to show us how the raw and imperfect humanity of each character has led to a convoluted chain of unintended consequences of a single decision, until a nice American lady with marital issues on a tourist bus in North Africa gets shot.

Thing is, though, even with all its embedded and barely concealed propaganda messaging about guns and border policies being the ultimate evil, "Babel" actually works. For the simple reason that the characters are shown as human beings, with real emotions and the capacity to commit both great wrongs and fine noble acts of magnanimity.

This (aptly-named) triple-zero fiasco, on the other hand, simply uses a similar device, with settings in Italy, Mexico, New Orleans and on the high seas, to fling us about from one cynical orgy of senseless violence fueled by merciless ambition to another. Nobody seems to have any real motive for anything, other than perhaps various forms of duplicity and betrayal for their own sake.

So Badly Done - Could Only Bear to Watch the First 5 Minutes - Plenty of OverActing
12 August 2023
This film had a lot of talent in it, but it just wasn't very good. It seems like it was a throwback of some of the old blaxploitation films. But I am not sure if they were trying to do that, or if it just came out that way. Anyway, a flat drawn out story, and choppy direction didn't help this movie in the least bit. Even that action scenes weren't very good. See it if you must, but you really aren't missing anything. This film had a lot of talent in it, but it just wasn't very good. FYI "Anna Director's Cut" (1 of 2 versions of this series) Is at least 2 stars better than the "studio" cut version.
9 August 2023
The subtitles disappear a little too quick for my liking.

The translations sometimes didn't quite make scene. What would help a bunch is to have a few English as 1st language people (in English counties) help with making it more clear.

FYI "Anna Director's Cut" (1 of 2 versions of the series) Is at least 2 stars better than the "studio" cut version. Apparently there was a lawsuit et al after the studio cut the series. DC is a slower paced & provides much better background to the character and the arc of the story

Well shot - well edited (DC) - Great Acting - A very honestly told story about a troubles young girl/lady & TTBOMK it offers a glimpse into S Korean culture.

I will look forward to "Season 2"

Why was the Journalist eating or drinking in almost every scene?

Interesting why so few people have reviewed this series since IMO it is too good!!! (subtitle may have something to do with it.

I have to assume that the people responsible for this movie have (or at least think their audience has) absolutely no understanding of technology and believe that logic and reason have no place in the movies. It's yet another sad example of Hollywood throwing money at everything but quality scriptwriting.

The premise, even if executed with any care towards remaining within the realm of plausibility, would still be hampered by CG effects that stick out like 1970's bluescreen backgrounds, characters that fail to have the common sense to ask for help and explain themselves given multiple opportunities to do so, and a Rube Goldbergian plot device that completely ignores the very premise of the movie.

More Than 30% of the BOTS Gave This Drivel a 10 Star Review - Nuf Said...
18 July 2023
I truly wanted to see a good story line (Texas style). I was not expecting a Chuck Norris performance, although I was expecting something better then a high school level performance with one take scenes!

I am not sure which is worst, the writing or the acting?

The scripts are all one dimensional with very little excitement.

Being a native Texan, I am embarrassed that this show attaches it's self to Texas (this is not how true Texans act like). These folks act more like west coast Californians.

This show is a disgrace to the State of Texas, the Texas Rangers, the Writers Guild. The Screen Actors Guild, and anyone else this show is pretending to emulate!

I Couldn't Make it Past 10 Minutes - Too Much Repetitive Screw Ball Lines - Hard Pass
16 July 2023
I can't believe some posters are waxing nostalgic about this movie.

It stinks.

When Neil Simon is funny, he's pretty funny.

When he's off, it's excruciating to watch, and man is he off on this. I saw it when it first came out, and it seemed hopelessly dated then. I can only imagine what a relic it is now.

Yes, Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn were good in FOUL PLAY, but that had a great script going for it. This absolutely, positively does not.

The jokes fall flat, the scenarios are strained beyond belief, and it just comes across as a bit of Hollywood hopelessly detached from reality.

In fact, it might just be worse than MODERN PROBLEMS or UNDER THE RAINBOW.

Watch this at your own peril, unless you want to see Exhibit #A in Chevy Chase's unprecedented run at picking awful scripts.

This Bad Boy Does NOT Age Well at All - Kind of Dumb - Thank God I Didn't Have to Pay to Watch it!
30 June 2023
However, the script is just packed full of clichés and stereotypes. Hopper's heart might have been in the right place when he made this, but he should have taken over the picture more and rewrote the script. The last time he did that (Out of The Blue), he gave us a great film. So, I wonder if his hands were bound by the usual Hollywood elites for some unknown reason?

Either way, the script is juvenile and almost insulting in its portrayal of the gang problem in LA at that time. Terrible lines were made worse by Sean Penn's absolutely abysmal performance too. His entire presence here is awkward. His character is supposed to be a kid and an outsider here, so you would think his bad acting and bland presence could work here; it does not. Maybe this is Hopper's fault? I'm not sure, but Penn really disrupts the film (the date scene in the car with Alonso was hard to sit through!).

One wonders what Hopper and the same cast (sans Penn) could have turned out with an indie budget and better script written by someone with actual gang/street cred. Otherwise, this felt like a Lifetime movie.

This Show Gets Progressively Worst - Just Bad Writing & Storytelling - & Yet I watch it to the End Hopping the Other Reviews Where Wrong
22 June 2023
Action is a genre in desperate need of some young blood. In a day and age where a 62 year old Sylvester Stallone (not looking a day of it!) can be a box office sell out with a fourth Rambo film, it just goes to show how much they're relying on the old stars to draw in the crowds. There have been some more modern stars with potential, such as Vin Diesel and The Rock, but they've never been given a script that really struck fans. The same could be said of muscly Glaswegian lead Gerard Butler, who's been in recent films such as the joyless, soulless Gamer and poor man's Gladiator 300. And this latest disappointment makes nothing any better.

Law Abiding Citizen had the potential to be a really tough, raw action thriller and in some ways it sort of does. The plot's the familiar, formulaic sort involving a man who's family are murdered right in front of him, only to see justice fail him and for him to return ten years later with vengeance on his mind. But after his first encounter with his first thug, where he pretends to be a sleeping cop, the film's credibility goes completely out the window and it turns into a ridiculous, far fetched fantastical sort of tale that goes completely against the raw, realistic revenge film it was advertised as. Since the plot's very similar to The Punisher, you see how that film worked because of the fantasy/comic book theme to it and it's outlandishness wasn't a problem but here it completely eviscerates the tone. Further implausibilities and inconsistencies keep popping up throughout the film and before long it's all gotten too much. The fact that it all ends up being quite predictable doesn't help, either.

The opening sequence has gained some tongues wagging for how nasty and shocking it is, and while it's certainly not nice, the film really picks up it's mean spirited side more towards the end, by which time it's gotten even more silly and unbelievable, and boredom has inevitably set in. F Gary Gray most notably directed the distracting but unremarkable hostage thriller The Negotiator but that's a masterpiece to sit through compared to this, a dark revenge tale that had the potential to really get under your skin but ends up getting under your nerves. *

Don't Believe the Great Reviews - Fast Forward Will BE Your Friend - Boring - Nonsensical -Awful -
9 June 2023
The premise is juvenile. Of course road rage exists. Some have even ended in murder.

This is not an original idea. The show tries to straddle a line between dark humor and serious drama but the script is completely unrealistic. The comedy and drama don't mix well at all. It's full of silly characters and well worn out platitudes about life.

The ending is predictable and sappy. The acting from Steve Yeun is good but the female lead is a disaster .

People forget so quickly what a really good show is capable of. Road rage taps a nerve. And it is a reflection of the society we live in but it's neither new or an original artistic.

WOW This Thing Lasted Several Seasons - I Managed a Whole 1.2 Episodes Before I HAD to Bail.
31 May 2023
This is By Far THE WORST NOT Funny Show I've ever had the misfortune to watch. Originally I was intrigued by the concept but the writers seem to be channeling the adolescent creativity of Frat boys permanently stuck in their sophomore year. It's like watching a train wreck with an on coming train from which you can't look away thinking or hoping it may somehow stop without crashing but of course it does crash regardless. Sadly this character has absolutely NO redeeming qualities whatsoever, he's just disgusting in every way humanly possible. While my opinion may not matter to the majority of the male fraction I do represent the the more part of the female existence who find this type of twaddle inanely stupid & not worth the time to watch. I do enjoy comedic satire but this is neither comedic or satire. Basically this is just big time Bad & not the good bad. Sorry but I was hoping for better.

Acting was Good - Some Scenes Were Waaaaaay Too Long - Fast Forward Helped. It could have been a 6
25 May 2023
We are not given any backstory in this piece of fiction--like "How much did she waste on lottery tickets before winning?" "How much welfare money was she using to booze it up while her child ate dog food?" "Why didn't one of her relatives call child services and side-track some of the winnings for the future?" This happens in real life, you hear about some old bar-hound that hits a big one on the lottery and buys a mansion with the money. But, since they always lived in a trailer, can't figure out why dumping tar of the roof doesn't fix the leaks...and they spent all the rest of their winnings on parties and liquor.

Leslie is a composite of every backwoods hillbilly that blew thousands on the lottery but was unable to balance a checkbook when their number came up.

I Did the Skip Forward Thing For About 5 Minutes. Till I Could NOT Bear it any Longer - Sutherland is the Worst
21 May 2023
I saw this during the weekend and it is seriously very overrated. With the exception perhaps of the opening and closing scenes it failed to stir any emotion in me or provide any grounds for discussion/arguments.

I am really amazed with the excited reviews here. It's evident that people are looking for things to like about it (beyond the opening and closing which everyone more or less agrees were great). I have watched many movies that were puzzling, confusing, surrealistic and the reviews here often gave me some additional insight or things to think about. In this case everyone is discussing technicalities due to the lack of substance. We are reduced to marvel at the visuals, the superior acting (which I also failed to see) or try to defend it by saying it was not meant for the general public. One reviewer even goes on to say that it was "Truly Trier-esque" really?

Old Clint Sure Made Some Dumb A$$ Shows - This One Has it in SPADES
21 May 2023
Dull and detrimentally deliberate this was dated upon release. After some great and gritty Fifties Westerns (Mann & Boettcher) and Leone's No Name trilogy this is and was nothing more than another John Wayne style Movie with some scars.

Heavy on hanging em first and ask questions later the Philosophical contemplations about Law and Order in a Lawless Territory is talked to death here and worst of all the Action is depressingly without style.

It is a pressed and starched landscape of familiar Character Actors paraded through a completely uninteresting display of Hollywood slickness, with sickening and stodgy plainness. A safe product with one of the most anti-climactic endings that betrays the finality needed in good Films but most assuredly in Westerns of note. This one is one note, and a sour one at that.

His movie is so bad. I really don't like the story or acting. It's overrated in my humble opinion and makes people fall asleep. Watch the social network instead. This movie just makes no sense because it talks about things that are boring and not fun. I wouldn't recommend watching it at all. Sometimes i wanna fall asleep so bad that i have nightmares i am still awake. The only interesting part was the naked woman at the beginning. If there was more of that this could deserve a two star review. But even that can't make me love it. It's one of those movies you have to be crazy to enjoy. The part where they steal the money is predictable and dumb. I've seen barney produce better feature films. Have you ever seen the count of Monte cristo? This is WORSE. Can you imagine? Stay away, stay far far away.
