The last thing you would want to hear is this show being cancelled.
I don't understand how they cancel a successful show, it doesn't make sense.
We really need a season 5 of the last man on earth please don't cancel the show pleeaaase!
For some reason, there are a huge number of reviews that expect this to portray all the details of its post-apocalyptic premise exactly the way each reviewer imagines it should.
It is a sit-com! Was "Bob Newhart" accurate about mental illness? No. Could actual human beings live the summer camp style lives led by the central characters in "Friends"? No. Is "Last Man on Earth" anything more than an excuse to throw together different character types for humorous effect? No.
But as a sit-com style serial it is really very, very funny. Will Forte, the central character, is weak-willed but occasionally self-reflective anti-hero, and Kristin Schaal and January Jones are just two of a set of excellent comedians who play supporting roles.
The only reason I can think that so many ratings are so low is that people may have been looking for show in a different genre, and started watching and were unhappy it was basically a sit-com.

I really enjoyed The Last Man on Earth from the first episode to the last. The only problem with it is that it was cancelled too early. It did what every fan of any show hates and that's not have a proper ending. It was canceled before they could finish the story so it's left on a cliffhanger. It sucks it did that but I still highly recommend it because you'll still have a good time for 4 seasons and 67 episodes. It's about a cataclysm that strikes earth wiping out the entire population except for Phil Miller (Will Forte). He travels the United States, Canada and Mexican borders searching for other survivors. He ends up finding some fellow survivor and end up finding it difficult to live with other people again. What follows is an absolutely hilarious show and an always funny Will Forte, who leads a really solid cast that includes January Jones, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Schaal, among others that are all very funny in this. Forte is the standout here though as he's always laugh out loud funny in almost everything he does and this was the perfect show for him and his humor. No other actor would have been as funny in this role, he was perfect for it.

It took me a little while to get into this but I'm really glad I stuck with it.
I'd love there to be a final season, even if it's just a three episode special, to tidy things off.
I know a virus has swept the globe for real, and many of us have lost loved ones to it, but this show was warm-hearted fun and a return would be lovely.

This is a refreshingly different post-apocalyptic story. What makes it even more unique is the fact that it's a comedy.
It takes getting used to and it marches to the beat of its own drum but quickly becomes endearing.
I am completely distraught at the news of its cancellation on fox and pray that it will either be reconsidered to be renewed or picked up by another outlet. Please let this show get busy living instead of getting busy dying.
