It Follows (2014)
A Unique, Original, and Creepy Film
While far from perfect, I consider this movie to be one of my favorite horror movies in recent years. Some of the actors could be a little better, but I really like the group of friends in this film and find most of them to be convincing for the most part. The slower scenes in which they are reminiscing about their childhood or just being there for one another are some of my favorite scenes. I think it's best to watch this movie without knowing what this thing is, so I won't go into details. I'll just say that I find this concept to be terrifying. When it comes to the technical aspects of this film, I love the way this film looks. Whether it's day or night time, I love the look. And lastly, the music in this movie is amazing and terrifying. If you love music from 80's horror films, you'll probably love this soundtrack as well. I really only have one issue with the movie and it's one that others have mentioned. The rules regarding this thing the characters are running from are inconsistent. For better or for worse, the rules aren't consistent or explained outside of an early exposition scene. I don't find the final confrontation scene to be bad, but I wouldn't say it's great either. While I'm not completely satisfied with that scene, I do really like the ending to this movie. I do think this film is the most enjoyable on your first viewing when you don't know what's going on. That being said, I still have a great time watching this movie after seeing it four times in the past two years.
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
A Very Standard Bond Film
I really wish that I could love this movie like some others do. But I just don't buy Roger Moore as Bond in any of his movies. I also thought Agent XXX was a very standard Bond girl. So what are some of good things about this movie if I don't care for Roger Moore as Bond or the Bond girl? Jaws is one of the most memorable henchman in the series. There are some decent action scenes throughout the movie, but the last act is extremely entertaining. If the entire movie was as good as the last act, I'd probably be giving this movie a strong 7/10. As it is, the last act is what brought this movie from a 5/10 to a light 6/10 for me. I do recommend this film as it does have some redeeming qualities and you might like it more than I. Nothing here stands out as bad, just pretty average to me.

Thunderball (1965)
I Just Don't Understand The Hype
I gave this film a 4/10 because that's roughly how much I enjoy this movie. It's not terrible, but it's incredibly boring. The only parts that I actually enjoy are the ridiculous/laughable scenes. These scenes include the stretcher and the big final battle. The final battle is funny because it's obviously sped up and ridiculous. It's funny because of the film making techniques that were used. Bond movies don't have to be masterpieces. They can be serious and amazing like Casino Royale or they can be dumb fun like Tomorrow Never Dies. Thunderball does neither of those two things for me. This is my least favorite Bond film.
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
An Underappreciated Bond Film
I've heard many people say that Goldeneye was Pierce Brosnan's only good Bond film. I actually like this film even more than Goldeneye. Wei Lin is one of my favorite Bond girls because she fights alongside Bond. I wish more Bond girls were like this. The main villain is just okay, but I really liked his henchman. The action in this movie is great, but it is a slight downgrade from Campbell's work in Goldeneye. That being said, the music is much better here than it is in Goldeneye. Some minor things I didn't like was the occasional slow-motion shots that felt put of place as well as the sound effects when someone would get punched. There may be some others flaws that I missed, but this is a very fun film regardless.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
The Most Boring Star Wars Film
The Phantom Menace is easily my least favorite Star Wars film. That's not to say there aren't some redeeming qualities here. The music is amazing as usual. There are some cool lightsaber fights and the battle on Naboo is fairly entertaining. But this movie is extremely boring to me. All of the things I like in this movie don't even occur until around in hour in. The CGI hasn't aged well and I can't stand Jar Jar's humor. This movie isn't terrible, but I have a hard time sitting through it.
GoldenEye (1995)
Goldeneye Is A Great First Outing For Pierce Brosnan
Goldeneye is not only a great Bond movie, but it's just great action movie. You can watch this movie without caring about James Bond and probably get a lot out of it. Pierce Brosnan is great in the role of James Bond. The bond girl is decent. This movie has a great cast of villains, arguably some of the better ones in this series. The action is also great. When this movie came out, it had the fastest and most intense action in the whole series. The only aspect that seems to be a little disappointing is the music. The credits song is pretty boring and while there is plenty of good music to accompany the action, some of it just feels out of place. Overall, definitely give this movie a shot if you just want a fun action movie.
Licence to Kill (1989)
A Really Fun, But Dark Bond Film
License To Kill is the darkest Bond film and one of the most consistent in my opinion. There are some boring scenes here and there, but they're never too long and not bunched up in one section of the movie. They're pretty evenly spread out throughout the second act and third act. The beginning ten minutes of the third act is a little slow, but the last twenty five minutes is extremely solid and has some great fights. This film has a brutal Bond, good Bond girl, great action, and really good villains. I kind of love this movie, but I can't say for sure. I've seen this movie three times now and it has grown on me more with every viewing. If you're a fan of the Daniel Craig Bond movies but you don't want Bond movies filled with a ton of camp, I recommend this and The Living Daylights.
The Living Daylights (1987)
An All Around Solid James Bond Film
The Living Daylights is my favorite Bond film that came out before Daniel Craig came along. This film is just pretty consistently entertaining and great. Timothy Dalton is my second favorite Bond actor behind Craig. Kara is a great Bond girl in my opinion. I also loved the action and villains in this movie. My only issue with this movie is a minor one. In the third act, there's like a 10 minute chunk of time that is significantly less interesting than the rest. But once that's over, the movie gets very entertaining again and has some great fights between Bond and the main villains.
Goldfinger (1964)
An Improvment In Some Ways, But A Downgrade In Other Ways
Goldfinger is an improvement on "From Russia With Love" in some ways, but a downgrade in others. There are some basic things that I judge Bond movies on. Bond actor, Bond girl, action, villains, and overall plot. Sean Connery is still great as usual. I didn't care for the Bond girls in this movie if you can really say there was one. Goldfinger is a fine villain, but he's nowhere near as good as Grant from "From Russia With Love". The action in this movie is better than the first two Bond movies. As for the plot, I find it less interesting than the previous film. While the music is good in this movie, I also feel like it was a downgrade. I'm not sure if I like this movie more than FRWL or not. That film did a fair amount of things better, but this movie has less filler it feels like.
From Russia with Love (1963)
A Big Improvement on Dr. No
I really wish that I could love this movie because there is a lot that I do love. I love the villains, atmosphere, Sean Connery, gadgets, one liners, and the music. That being said, the film is not consistently great in my opinion. I find the movie to be boring for the first twenty minutes. The last twenty minutes of the movie are good, but the resolution isn't even the most exciting part. It just feels like such a downgrade from when Bond is on the train. Had the last twenty minutes kept the same tension that was present on the train, I would have given it a 7/10 or maybe even an 8/10. I'm not rating this movie based on how well I think it was made, but rather how much I enjoyed it.
I do recommend this movie as you might appreciate it more than I do.
Dr. No (1962)
A Decent Foundation
I have mixed feelings on "Dr. No". It was the first Bond film, so I feel like I have to give it a pass in many different areas. The first act is pretty enjoyable and the second act gets even better. But the third act is pretty boring. I can forgive a film for not having much action, but I feel this way because I find Dr. No to be a boring villain. I decided to review this after my second viewing and I liked the first two acts more than I did on the first watch, but I think I liked the third act even less this time around. This movie isn't bad, but it does make me appreciate some of the other films more.
Pros:
While not my favorite Bond actor, Sean Connery carries this movie.; The film has some solid dialogue.
Cons:
Boring Villain; Boring sets in the third act.; Some of the acting is mediocre.
