The Rejected (2019)
The Rejected review
The rejected is an independent Turkish short film. Its genre is horror but I see it more like a thriller. Although it is a short film it takes its audience inside of the movie and it is not an easy task to do it only in 8 minutes. The Rejected's soundtrack and voices' are very good for small budget independent short movie. Its most important aspect is showing rather than telling approach. It is obviously inspired from cult classic Child's play movie but it tries to tell in its own way. After the audience saw the movie which is free to watch from the Director's own youtube channel(check Onur Dogan on youtube) then they probably interpret it. Because there are ambiguous parts for example motivation of our protagonist a.k.a. Woman or the baby's purpose are open the audience's interpretation. Of course there are some downsides about the short movie for instance Cgi is not very good but it acceptable for an independent short movie. And it is not appropriate for very young audience like children. Apart from these downsides it is a bold and a good good attempt for independent short horror/thriller movie.
Personally, I want to see more independent short films with this kind of quality and effort and I want to congratulate the director Onur Dogan to try such a bold approach on his project. Although he knew his budget is not enough for this kind of project, he accomplished to execute a decent independent short movie.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Top Gun: Maverick review
Top guns fans were waiting this movie more than two decades and finally cinema goers can experience it at cinema. First of all, I can say that I'm not a big fan of the Top gun in fact I watched first movie around 5 years ago but it was a good movie for me overall. I always appreciated first movie's stunts with aircrafts so my only expectation from the sequel was getting similar stunts.
I have satisfied with stunts and flying sequences in the air plus Hans Zimmer works as a composer in this movie what can you expect more because Tom Cruise is the lead actor too. Maverick's struggle after losing his best friend in the first movie continues in a way he is traumatized with the incident and this emotional weigh still haunts him so you can easily feel Maverick and Goose's bond. Maverick still feels responsible for Goose's family on the other hand, Maverick has some personal struggles too but his priorities change when he was sent to Top Gun school again as an instructor. The Story is a nice straightforward a success story mixed up with some amazing images. There is one more thing I want to mention Ice character could easily has been killed off because of Val Kilmer's real life health issues but he has been included in to cast and his presence elevated the movie without his scenes my satisfaction could be decrease.
There are so little things to speak about the movie negatively but if the enemy country could be specified as a real country it could be a little better but the movie still works fine the way it is. In the 1st Top Gun movie rivalry in the Top Gun school was more effective but the sequel is okay too. Some characters like Maverick's love interest in the 1st movie has been completely removed from the sequel too.
Some characters like Maverick's love interest in the 1st movie has been completely removed from the sequel . Although it is understandable there could have been mentioned the love interest. We can understand that the relationship didn't work but having a small explanation could have been better
Briefly, Top Gun Maverick is a very good movie whether you're a fan of the 1st movie or not. I suggest to everyone who likes the action genre to see it at a cinema. It's worth it but before you see it make sure to see the 1st one if you haven't seen it yet.
The Batman (2022)
The Batman review
Batman is a movie that makes me feel confused because it is a good movie generally but not as great as Batman Trilogy. Let's put aside comparisons with the other Batman movies for now.
First of all, Matt Reeves' realistic approach to the movie is very suitable because we have seen the same approach from Nolan. After that, All superhero movies changed it is very wise to use Nolan's approach again. I know Reeves from The Apes series and I like very much the atmosphere of the series but the pace issues were very obvious in that series. I had same doubts before I went to the Batman movie because the movies' screen time is nearly 3 hours. In the end, I can say that I didn't get bored apart from a few scenes in the second half of the movie so pacing is not a big issue in the Batman movie.
When it comes to the performances Robert Pattinson gave a good performance as Batman but he was not so convincing as Bruce Wayne briefly he is a good choice for the role. I want to tribute Paul Dano because he gave one of the best performances as Riddler and his role is very important for the whole movie. He has clear motivations to challenge our hero and Dano's characterization of Riddler as a serious psycho also is very convincing. Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman is also very convincing because we can learn her motivations clearly but I didn't like some addings to her background story. Catwoman's relationship with Batman and the the other characters make sense however Anne Hattaway is still my favorite Catwoman. I must say that Kravitz's Catwoman is more closer to comics as far as I checked and this movie in a way an origin story to Catwoman however I didn't like some parts of it still it is one of the best decisions made by the director. Jeffrey Wright is good as Gordon but don't even compare it to Gary Oldman's Gordon. Colin Farrel is very good and convincing as Penguin but his screen time is very little in this movie. In the sequel, I want to see him more(probably). I didn't find convincing John Turturo as Carmine Falcone his performance is mediocre maybe his performance is not good enough because of the screenplay. I am not sure but he doesn't seem a powerful crime boss at all. My biggest disappointment is Alfred because I know Andy Serkis is a great actor but we can barely see him in the movie . I think Reeves must give Andy Serkis more space and lines to shine in the next movie(probably).
Briefly, Batman is a good movie however it is nearly 3hrs it doesn't bore you mostly. It explains how Batman shapes his morals in his early years. Its realistic dark tone is very suitable for the movies' story. Although many positive points, some characters like Alfred should be handled better and screen time could have been decreased around 15 minutes to accelerate pacing a little bit more. The characterization of Bruce Wayne is not so much convincing. This movie is nowhere near Nolan's movies so don't even try to compare it any movie in the trilogy. It's worth seeing the movie at the cinema.
P.s.: After the ending don't wait too much for the post-credits because it doesn't worth it.
Uncharted (2022)
Uncharted review
Uncharted is another adapted movie based on video game. There are some biases against game adaptations in the movie industry but it doesn't mean that all game adaptations are bad. In case of Uncharted, I think it is one of better adaptations among game adaptations however there is not anything in the movie that we didn't see before. The movie did not bore me because its pace is fast enough for an action movie. The movie uses common formula in that has been used action adventure movies since Indiana Jones so it can be said that it is another clone of Indiana Jones. I think Uncharted is more than a simple clone because it has most of the elements of a good action movie. It has powerful chemistry between the lead actors and some of its action scenes were very entertaining especially the scenes take place in the auction and in the ship. Plus a few good surprises has been added to movie for those who played the games before.
The movie's twist was unexpected but it was not so effective because villains were insufficient to pose a real threat to the hero. Lead actors don't resemble so much to their game character versions and their characterization is little bit different than their characterization in the game. Since it is a prequel to games some differences can be accepted until a point but the casting could have been better but I don't mind the casting so much because the lead actors' chemistry was so good. Age rating disturbed me because no blood and gore have been shown in action scenes. Even the games took 16+ rating so 10+ rating is humiliating in a way.
To sum up, Uncharted is a movie that doesn't present something unique in the action-adventure genre but it is a good action movie to spend time on. I enjoyed seeing it at the cinema people who want to see an entertaining action movie, should see it. Plus if you have played the games before you'll be pleased to have some surprises.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Spider-Man: No Way Home review
Spider-man no way home was one of the most expected movies of the year and with releasing newer trailer audiences' expectations increased. Personally, I don't like multiverse or parallel universe concepts but after I saw Spider-man: into the spider-verse then I thought this concept can fit to a live action spider-man movie.
Let's get back to the movie, Spider-man no way home easily gonna please most Spider-man lovers as we see from the trailers different villains from various spider-man movies is enough reason for that. The movie achieves to connect nostalgia and freshness at the same time while doing this rewards the fans who have seen previous Spider-man movies released since 2000s.
While the movie was bringing different characters together from different spider-man movies, it improves some characters for example Electro's characterization is much more convincing than his characterization from the amazing spider-man 2. Spider-man No way home has darker a tone than 2 previous MCU movies and this condition contributes to this movie positively. Now I must mention things that could be better in the movie.
Firstly, Dr. Strange's characterization was so passive and we know that he is so much powerful than his depiction in this movie. While some Villains are improved as it was mentioned above Electro's characterization improved significantly in this movie but not every character's characterization has improved the same way Electro's characterization improved. Some of them don't have so much screen time or effect like the Lizard. Since there are variety of characters this condition is understandable but it could have been improved.
Another thing is not so good in this movie are the fight scenes. The fight scenes were so cartoonish even though I saw the movie on IMAX, they were so forgettable. I have seen the movie a few days ago but I already have forgotten all of the fight scenes even the Raimi's spider-man 3 had some better fight scenes than this movie. Briefly, Spider-man no way home is the best MCU spider-man movie and it is a good fan service furthermore one of the best movies I have seen this year so far. Everyman who knows Spider-man character must see it.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Matrix Resurrections review
I preferred to see the Matrix Resurrections on IMAX format rather than on the smaller screen. I did not regret watching it at the cinema, but I already had low expectations before going to the cinema. I appreciate the effort to push the story forward instead of restarting the series as a reboot, but there's just too much nostalgia for the movie and it isn't a good thing for a movie that progresses the story forward. Let's start with the positive aspects of the movie first.
The first half of the movie was much more interesting for me as it fed the curiosity of the audience while Neo trying to get rid off the loop. On other hand the second half of the movie does not maintain this curiosity effectively.
I can appreciate the movie's special effects, but they're not as groundbreaking as the first Matrix movie from 1999. 18 years passed since 3rd Matrix movie, the visual and special effects have improved further and this has contributed to all the high-budget movies. Also, the Matrix Resurrections benefited from this condition.
I must say Keanu and Moss still have chemistry, plus Jessica Henwick, who plays "Bugs," is the best new character that was added to the movie, giving a very impressive performance. On the other hand, I missed Hugo Weaving and Lawrence Fishburne so much, the new castings were not enough to fill their shoes. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is not a big disappointment as Morpheus but you still looking for Laurence Fishburne. When you hear Jonathan Groff's Smith says "Mr. Anderson," you realize something is missing because of the Weaving performance in the trilogy. Also, the motivations of some characters' actions are not very clear, like Smith and Niobe. It doesn't look like a full movie and the ending didn't satisfy me. Finally, the choreographies in the action sequences don't even come close to the trilogy as they are so dependent on CGI but they are not bad. In short, it's a mediocre movie, but still slightly better than its current IMDB rating. Matrix fans can see it at the cinema because after all years seeing a new Matrix movie is a dream that comes true for them. Keeping expectations low will decrease the hugeness of disappointment.
Biyeolhan geori (2006)
A Dirty Carnival review
A dirty Carnival is a Korean movie and I hadn't known know any of the cast prior to this movie and I think this condition benefits the movie. I try to watch prominent movies in Korean cinema and I can say that dirty carnival is one of the good examples of Korean cinema. Story involves a man who is ambitious enough to rise his rank in the mafia world. But in the mafia world, things are dirty and repetitive for him. I liked depiction of the fights in the movie and I think that some scenes inspired 2nd Raid movie but I can't say that A Dirty Carnival is as good as The Raid 2. Protagonist is portrayed by In-Sung jo and I think he gave a good performance and supportive characters' performances were in a certain quality.
The duration of the movie could be arranged more effectively because I felt the movie was longer than it needed to be, 2 hrs could be enough for this movie. Another thing , the movie's twist was very predictable for me but it was not so bad. Everyone who likes crime & drama genres should give a chance to this Korean movie.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Venom let there be carnage review
After 1st movie's financial success, 2nd movie has already been announced and in this sequel, nothing surprises me because Sony used a common formula used for superhero movies. Introduce a bad guy and every good guy or anti heroes unite their power to bring down bad guy/s.
The only thing that can surprise the audience is the mid post-credit scene and I won't write anything about it but it was an important mid credits for the future of Venom.
This is the second movie directed by Andy Serkis that I have seen and I don't think he has done a bad job. I'm not gonna mention much about actings but apart from protagonists, Stephen Graham did a very good job as detective Mulligan.
I really liked the relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom and this relationship leads to some funny scenes in the movie. The relationship was the strongest aspect of the movie.
There are some things I didn't like in the movie.
First of all, Villain was not so effective, it was just there to challenge the hero.
The other side characters don't have appropriate character developments, they are just there to serve hero or villain. There were some illogical mistakes but since it is a superhero movie you just can ignore them for example, symbiote finds a character's place just uploading itself to the computer, how is that possible I didn't get it. Since the movie doesn't take itself so seriously these illogical situations can be ignorable.
Briefly, It's like the first movie but this movie is not an origin story so you can expect more from the sequel but don't expect it because you can easily be disappointed.
It is not better than the first movie, just don't ignore illogical situations because the movie is so superficial and not detailed. By lowering my expectations I enjoyed the movie and had a fun time. If you like superhero movies you'll enjoy it but don't expect much and don't forget to watch mid-credit scene. Until you see the mid-credit scene you shouldn't leave the theater.
Fleabag (2016)
Fleabag review
Fleabag is a mini comedy series created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and she is the protagonist of the series. I won't say much about this series 1st was very bad and I was not gonna watch the 2nd season but after I read that 2nd season was tributed by Barrack Obama, I gave the series second chance. The story is shaped around Fleabag character, she is in her early thirties and she has very empty life during 2 seasons. Eventhough she has some tragedies in her life, she has not got any catharsis as the fleabag character. Basically, she is a horny character and doesn't know what to do her life and during both 2 seasons there is not much development in her character. This is the series series I have seen in Amazon prime after Modern love.
Although I didn't like modern love 1-2 episodes can watchable but in this series even one episode wasn't worth watching. This is the most overrated series I have ever seen in my life so far and I don't suggest it to anyone. It seems Prime's series are dissapointing so far but I really liked Tottenham documentary unllike the series, I guess I will go on to watch more sports series on the Amazon prime.
The Punisher (2017)
The Punisher Review
The Punisher is a well-known anti-hero among other superheroes in Marvel universe but this series is not part of Disney's MCU at least for now. The Punisher has not any kind of super abilities unlike most of the marvel characters. Although I don't read much comic books, I had known the character from its earlier movie adaptations. Since I watched the 2004 version in my childhood it is a special character for me.
Before I start to watch this series, I was kind of hesitant to start because I was dissapointed so many works that are released in Netflix but fortunately, this series matched with my expectations.
Castings were great choices in the series.
I had already known Jon Bernthal from movies like Snitch, Wolf of Wall street and the Last year's Ford V Ferrari and generally and he was playing supportive characters. In this series Jon Bernthal carries the show with his performance as Frank Castle. Amber Rose, Ben Barnes, Jason Moore also were good in their performances as supportive characters. Although, I didn't know them before the series, I really satisfied with their performances. Violence dose was satisfying because we know that The Punisher is a very merciless character when he needs to be. Action scenes mostly were successful too. On the other hand, I must mention the things that I didn't like firstly, after 1st season's finale, the creators stretched 1st season's plot to the second season and it is a kind of cheap move in terms of scenario.
Villains of the series are very cliche so they lack the depth in terms of compelling villains. Frank, Billy and Curtis characters could have had more screen time when they were in the army. In the second season, if I ignore plot holes, I must mention that dr. Durmont actions don't make sense at all and in 2nd season screenwriters were sucked in some ways. I won't give any detail because every action genre watcher should see the series. It has a rare quality among most Netflix productions. If someone wants to watch an action series and s/he has a Netflix subscription The Punisher is one of the best options I can suggest to that audience.
Nomadland (2020)
Brief review of Nomadland
Nomanland is a movie directed by Chloe Zhao. It includes Frances Mcdormand in its cast as a protagonist apart from her the other cast members are not famous.
This is the first movie I have seen from Chloe Zhao. The movie tells story of an old woman portrayed Frances Mcdormand who loses everything and embraces nomadic lifestyle. She lives in a van and works lower degree jobs to survive. As an advantage of this lifestyle she meets lots of new people and becomes friends with them. It tells a simple story in a simplistic way. I think it is one of the good movies of 2020. Actings were good especially Frances Mcdormand gave a solid performance. Adittionaly, I want to say one more thing about the ending, the ending seems so straightforward but I think it really fits the story so you if you can think about deeply it is pretty good briefly, it is a good movie from a bad year(because of the covid-19 pandemic).
Tekken: Buraddo benjensu (2011)
Tekken Blood Vengeance review
Before I do this review, I will skip all casting information because most of casting is unknown in the west. I only can say that Katsushiro Harada involves as a executive producer in this animated movie since he is at the bandai namco from begining of Tekken video game series so his presence was a positive sign for this movie on paper but his involvement couldn't save this animation. Honestly, I didn't find what I expected from this animated movie because it doesn't represent Tekken Series as whole. Only %5 percent of the characters from Tekken universe has been used so it is a kind of spin-off but if you are shooting a spin-off you should have an animated series before this movie or maybe a trilogy but it just a spinoff. In this respect, this animated movie mostly can reach to the game series' fanbase because the characters won't make sense even for hardcore anime/animation watchers. Also I dissapointed with some character models but overall visual quality was so not bad. One way or another if a person was not familiar with Tekken game series, then s/he should stay away from this animated movie, but Tekken fans can see the movie either way the movie is quite mediocre and I can say that Tekken 7(game)'s story was more compelling and better than this animated movie.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
Death Note review
Death note is one season series that tells a story of a smart high school student's ambition about changing the world. His name is Light Yagami and he finds a notebook that gives him power to kill people and Yagami uses this notebook to punish criminals but not everything is that simple.
The thing is it is a kind serial killer story but it brings some fresh ideas to the table.
The series sometimes makes you feel smart to watch the series and it is not an easy thing to convey this feeling to the audience. One of the most crucial point is the clash between Light Yagami and L characters, it is very thrilling to watch two compelling characters trying to outsmart each other. From these aspects series is a different and interesting and I really liked this aspect of the series. On the other hand, I must add that I really would like to watch past of L and Watari characters, how they met each other and how they became a team.
There are a few things I didn't like in the series, first of all After two characters has been introduced named Near and Mello, I couldn't connect with them so a few episodes could shortened because some episodes decreased my concentration. One other thing is Misa character and her Shinigami's actions are very illogical during the series so I didn't like their story arc. In short, I really liked this anime series and I can say that however I don't watch so much animes, it is one of the best I have seen so far. Mostly it deserves its imdb rating and I suggest it to everyone who likes to watch serial killer- detective stories and I assure you will find it more than a serial killer-detective story. If you want to fully enjoy the series I advise you to ignore a few illogical things in the storyline.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
I have hopes now for future Dc cinematic universe "A truce, Bruce"
This is a movie was made thanks to persistencies of the fans of superheroes especially Dc fans will love this movie. Zack Snyder's Justice league is a 4 hours movie but it uses this long runtime to its advantage, with this long runtime we can consider it as a kind of mini-series. First of all Snyder's dark tone fits Dc cinematic Universe, this movie proves it again, as we know from 2017 version, the movie wanted become another Avengers movie thanks to Josh Whedon, it didn't work and it will never work because Dc doesn't have to copy Marvel cinematic universe. Dc has a lot of original content to create its own universe without applying a kind of imitation. Snyder's Justice easily surpasses 2017 version in terms of character developments. Moreover, we saw Aquaman movie too. In Snyder's Justice league Cyborg character gains the most profit in terms of character development because his screen time increased pointedly in compare to 2017 version .
Even, Flash character benefits in this version even so he needs a movie of his own. Although CGI mostly the same Steppenwolf CGI was improved and addition of Darkseid is important to tell more coherent story. I loved Joker cameo, we could see the Leto's real potential in this movie at last. Epilogue part made me wanting to watch more Justice league so my hopes about Dc cinematic universe return again but still I am cautious for the future. Now lets move on, the things that I didn't like with movie. I think however story reached more acceptable form, it is still a mess. I have always think that notion of death should be used in more serious way. If a character dies and we see him/her is dead and it should stay that way or it sabotages movies' coherence in terms of realism. As I mentioned before Barry Allen definitely needs an origin story. Amazon song which plays in wonder woman scenes was very ridiculous and it distracted my attention in Wonder Woman scenes , Wonder Woman's theme music is more than enough so it should be used in her scenes. One of the biggest issues with Dc cinematic universe is that is too complex and it gives confusion to its audience. I still have this confusion because new movies are reshooting again with different actors and it is ridiculous also, there are 2 two jokers, 2 Batman and if things come out way, they can connect every character to each other so I don't like this kind of uncertainties. I hope we don't different Jokers in the same universe or the different Batmans. Briefly, It is a decent attempt but it is still close to a mess movie, Although it fixed so much things when we compare it to 2017 version. It is still not enough to compete with Marvel. On the hand, Epilogue part pledges more for future and I'm looking forward to this.
Since 2017 version was very bad, I had very low expectations from this movie in the end I'm happy with this version because I got more than that I had ever expected.
Superhero movie lovers shouldn't miss this movie.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
review of The Trial of the Chicago 7
The trial of Chicago 7 is a movie directed by Aaron Sorkin and it has its casting very famous actors Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph-Gordon lewitt and more. The movie is based on a true story movie however, we don't how much the movie is accurate it has some realistic depictions. The story is basically 7 different leader figures' trial process because of the uprising at the democratic National Convention. Although, I am not very fond of dialogue based movies, I enjoyed the movie because some depictions in protesting areas were realistic and it is a good example to show how different kinds of persons come together to achieve something bigger than themselves. on the other hand, there is always a red line and it mustn't be ignored if it is to be ignored, then some bad things can happen. I must mention that powerful casting contributed the movies' quality, if unknown actors/ actresses would have become protagonists then it could have decreased the quality of the movie. On the other hand, I found this movie so much overhyped and I know it a decent movie but it doesn't mean it is the best movie of the year. Definitely it can be in the top 10 or top 20 movies of the year 2020.I think every person who likes to watch based on true story movies, should watch the movie because the movie was a good example for based on true story movies
Masum (2017)
Maum Review
Masum is a Turkish mini series directed by Seren Yuce and the writer of the series Berkun Oya. Berkun Oya is famous for his mini series Bir Baskadir which he directed and wrote in this respect second time I saw Berkun Oya related work. The series casting includes actors Haluk Bilginer, Okan Yalabiyik, Ali Atay, these actors especially Haluk Bilginer is in the top level of Turkish cinema. Cevdet is portrayed by Haluk Bilginer who is a retired commissioner which is the father of Bayrakci family. Yusuf is portrayed by Ali Atay who is a police officer and has problems within his family and his commissioner gives him a task to give him a distraction from his family issues. When Yusuf s investigation deepens everything changes everyone related to his case. Performances were good for example I know Ali Atay s comedic works but in this serious role he was good a young officer. Okan Yalabiyik s performance was good too as an adult who has some mental problems and his role was very serious too but he can play different character as we know from his earlier works. If I would have picked up the best performance it would have been master actor Haluk Bilginer s performance. He shows us how far a father can go to protect his children to keep his family together, very profound performance. When it comes to story it was not anything new it is a kind of okay detective story but I liked non linear narrative but it could have been better. The series was full of clichés so I have predicted most of the incidents so it was predicable for me and this condition decreased my satisfaction from the series. Briefly, good performances, an okay story and non linear narrative makes the series above the average.
The Ninth Gate (1999)
review of The Ninth Gate
9th gate
The Ninth Gate is a movie directed by Roman Polanski and it has Johnny Depp and Frank Langella in its casting. The movie's source material loosely based on Arturo Perez-Reverte's Dumas Club. I didn't read the book so I won't compare it to book version. In the story our protagonist Dean Corso portrayed by Johnny deep is a kind of book detective and He was hired to find certain ancient books for collectors. A collector offers a lot of money to Corso to find last two copies a demon text The Ninth Gate. Then, our protagonist find himself in a danger and tries to find a way to get himself out of this condition. In first half of the movie was interesting for me, mysteries revealed us the audience slowly while Corso learning a new things at the same time we learn this mysteries. When we are closing to ending of the movie, the story's mysteries revealed us and all the movies good sides were lost at the same time. Although, I liked Deep's performance it is an a mediocre movie for me.
The Mask (1994)
Brief review of the Mask
The mask is movie directed by Chuck Russel and it has Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in its casting. The movie nearly doesn't even have a story and some of ways very silly. I had seen this movie in my childhood and I was remembering it was a funny movie. Although the movie has keeps its funny side, it is watchable because of Jim Carrey's performance. Without Carrey it cannot be watchable. Briefly, for me it is a mediocre comedy movie thanks to Jim Carrey because he is the only good thing in the movie.
The Little Things (2021)
a typical seial killer movie with a great cast
The little things directed by john lee Hancock and it has some stars casting including, Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto. when I saw the trailer of this movie for the first time, my expectations automatically increased because Wahshington's character looked like a badass character and leto's character seemed some kind of psychopat in the trailer. on the other hand, movie looked like another Seven movie because of its dark tone and storyline. Basically, Washington's character resembles with Freeman's character, Malek' s character with Pitt's character and leto's character with Spacey's character. The story in both movies involves two lawmen tries to catch a serial killer only difference is Seven has a style and more compelling characters and Seven has one of the best twists of all the time. let's turn back to Little Things, it has a great casting but very straightforward movie so it was little bit disappointing for me. Washington's performance was good as deputy sheriff Joe Decaon who tries to help a young officer to catch a serial killer. Although Washington was good in the role it was not one of his best performances but persistency of the character was conveyed to the auidence effectively. Although Malek's performance was okay, his character jim Baxter was not interesting character, his character was a cliché young kite character. I want to say that I dissapointed with Leto's character Sparma, I would have expected more psychopat character, he was not as I expected. Yes it was creepy, but it is not enough. Also, I think Leto needed more time to be able give a more competent performance. I think his screen time was short. Briefly, the movie was not quite original, it has a lot cliches and it is far from being another Seven. Without its star actors it could have been a bad movie but thanks to its great cast it is an okay movie for me.
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020)
Review of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
Ma rainey's black bottom takes place around 1927 in Chicago. Story shapes around Viola Davis's charater Ma rainey.
Ma Rainey is the queen of blues and she has a band. Although black people are trated badly by white people, they have to bow to Ma Rainey because they make money thanks to her voice. In the movie while we see this approach towards black people also we see interactions of black people with each other. Especially Chadwick Boseman's performance was prominent to mention. Also some of the members of band portrayed by Michael potts and Glynn Turman was really good as supporting characters. There some things I didn't like, I'm not satisfied with the ending and however its runtime 1h 34min. I felt longer so a little bit boring.
Actings make the film watchable, I'm not saying it is a bad movie but it is not for everyone definitely. If you like historical music movies with a drama you may like the movie and you should watch it. I think it is an above average movie among 2020 movies.
Minari (2020)
Review of Minari
Minari is a movie that deals with struggle of a Korean immigrant family to survive in USA.
It's one of the good draman
movies of 2020. Until I see this movie I didn't now about director Lee Isac Chung now I know that he is an son of immigrant family so may be the little boy represent the director of the movie who is also writer of the movie. Apart from Steven Yuen who plays father of family, I didn't see any other actors or actresses before but acting was very good. All the family performances were convincing so you can easily care for this family. I think it is one of the best drama movies of 2020. Anyone who wants to see a drama movie, should see this movie.

Ruben our heavy drummer reluctantly goes to sign language instructor to get help. After that his all life will change. He will want to have his old life back and he will safrifice everything to get his old life back but in the end he will realize nothing will be the same again. I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
I'm Thinking of Ending Things review
I have seen I'm only thinking of ending thing a few days ago to determine best movies of 2020. I had heard of this movie so I wanted to give it a chance. Movie starts with a young woman who waits her boyfriend to visit his family but she has some doubts in herself about her relationship. She is with his boyfriend for 5 or 6 weeks and now they go a trip to his boyfriend's parent's house, she has some doubts but she accepts this trip. After they arrived her boyfriend's parents home, she feels some of things become weird but she feels it's a temporary thing so after the dinner she thinks that she'll get rid off this weirdness. When they leave her boyfriend's parents' home she wants to reach her home because she has some works to acomplish in the morning.
On their way back to her home everthing becomes weirder and the narration of the story becomes metaphorical as we can see from art house movies. I must say thay I didn't like the movie however I have found 1st part interesting. In the begining, It seemed a good road movie but when they have reached the girls' boyfriend's parents home, everthing have started to change and after that I bored in some scenes of the movie. Its duration was also very long and metaphorical narration was not worked on me so movie was another mediocre movie of 2020
for me.
Tenet (2020)
"don't try to understand it, feel it"
I have seen Tenet on IMAX as always I prefer to watch his movies on IMAX. I avoided spoilers before I watch the movie in this sense I'm lucky. Since I have seen the first trailer my hype increased. After I heard news about the movie like flowing of time backward , it worried and excited me at same time. After I have seen the movie 2 days ago, I feel I have seen good movie but not as good as Inception.
I really liked the action of the movie and tone of the was very satisfying, you nearly never get bored of the movie however its long runtime around 2 hours 30 minutes. Nolan's whatever is possible don't use CGI policy works in this movie too. They really crashed a real plane as you can see in the 2nd the trailer.(may be the in the last trailer). Ludwig Göransson did a good with soundtracks as you know Hans Zimmer was not in this movie as composer because of the scheduling conflicts. Nolan again uses complicated storytelling it is as ambitious as Inception but it was not as impressive as Inception. There some things I really haven't liked in the movie. In some scenes dialogues are cut short and sometimes can't be heard clearly because of the intensity of soundtrack. Going back time was very confusing and it also resembles parallel universes like in a film named "Dejavu" which is starring Denzel Washington. Whether coincidentally or not Denzel Washington's son John David Washington is the protagonist of the movie.
Future generation's role was ridiculous and they sent Tenet to destroy humanity. The villain's motivations are very ridiculous to help future generations. He is also very straightforward and cliche however Kenneth Branagh's performance is very good. I really didn't like godlike power of future generation and the villain simply it didn't work for me.
Briefly, It is a solid action/sci-fi movie it sometimes is confusing but as a characters says "If you don't try to understand and try to feel it" it is a good movie. Although character development lacks in the movie performances of the cast was very good. Washington, Branagh, Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki gave good performances. It may not be a masterpiece but it is a damn good movie that you'll watch at least more than 2 times.
Inception (2010)
Watching a masterpiece 10 years later
I saw inception a few days ago again, it was 3rd or 4th time for me through 10 years since its releasing in 2010. I was sad to not experrience in on the big screen.
A chance came to me to see this movie on Imax because of 10th anniversy of the movie. Although there is huge risk to go cinemas or closed places because of the covid-19, I went to see movie again but this time on Imax and the big screen.
Generally, I don't see movies more than 2 times even if they are my favourite ones but I made an exception this one. Casting of the movie is incredible we see huge performances from star actors/actresses; Di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Lewit, Marion Cotillard, Michael Cain and more. Sound design and soundtracks are perferct especially Hans Zimmer's works are hard to get out of mind. Screenplay and Cinematography of the movie are phenomenal. Scenes with water are so impressive and iconic. Using dreams as plot and conveying it to big screen is very diffcult but Mr. Nolan achieved it to the full. I know this movie was inspired from Papurika but it carried the concept of Papurika to whole another level. It added psychological elements to the concept succesfully. Presensentation and dilemma of reality vs dreams were very influential thus it leads very confusing concepts and pushes its audience to think about the ending. It is very ambitious but it works and that makes the movie a masterpiece. I have a few minor issues with movie in the action scenes sometimes seems complicated but it is understandable because in the end it helps general narrative of the movie.
Images are so powerful and the concept is very original and even it is not an action movie its action is satisfying too. Briefly, it is one of the best movies of all the time.
