NBC has given a series order to “Happy’s Place,” the Reba McEntire-led pilot the network ordered in January, and greenlit “Lopez vs. Lopez” for Season 3. The multi-cam comedy will debut during the 2024-2024 broadcast season.
“Happy’s Place” follows Bobbie (Reba McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) she never knew she had. The cast also includes Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn. Universal Television is the studio.

Young Sheldon is heading into the final stretch. Following last night’s Episode 10, The Big Bang prequel, starring Iain Armitage in the title role, will air two back-to-back episodes over the next two weeks as it wraps its seven-season run on CBS.

They are emotional, they are funny,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said during the network’s 2024-25 schedule reveal Thursday. “You see the growth in this cast, especially the kids who started out so young.”
To highlight that — and to celebrate its flagship comedy series — CBS will create a full-circle moment the week of May 13, with the first two episodes of Young Sheldon re-airing on Monday, leading to the show’s final two episodes on Thursday.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Young Sheldon Season 7, Episode 10, “Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage.”] Young Sheldon is a series that isn’t unfamiliar with guest stars, but the show welcomed a particularly glitzy one in the latest episode, “Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage,” as Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer stepped in to play a probation officer assigned to Meemaw’s (Annie Potts) case after her backroom gambling ring was busted. Forced to fulfill community service hours, she’s sent to work at the church under Mary’s (Zoe Perry) supervision, but she’s not too enthusiastic about the gig, getting George (Lance Barber) to intervene in hopes of lightening her load. The conversation backfires for Meemaw’s workload, but was a welcome one for Barber. Robert Voets/CBS “I’ll pipe up first just to say how jealous I was because I didn’t get to [shoot] anything [with Octavia],” Perry tells...

CBS executives were keenly aware of the elephant in the room Thursday as new co-ceo George Cheeks and entertainment president Amy Reisenbach opened their fall schedule presentation by addressing the latest rumblings in the sale process of parent company Paramount Global.
“It’s a super quiet, uneventful week for us,” Cheeks quipped as he kicked off the hourlong presentation just moments after news broke that Sony and Apollo submitted a $26 billion cash offer to buy Paramount Global.
Other than addressing morale — “we’ve all locked arms” and are “focusing on what we can control,” Cheeks said — both execs spent the press briefing at the Paramount offices in Hollywood focused on CBS and its 2024-25 schedule.
Cheeks and Reisenbach opened with a victory lap of sorts as CBS finished the strikes-impacted 2023-24 in first place, breaking a decades-old record set by the network with 16 straight season victories and 21 of the past 22 years.

Led by ‘Tracker,’ CBS Declares Early Viewership Victory for the Truncated 2023-2024 Broadcast Season
Though the 2023-2024 TV season isn’t over yet, CBS is on track to maintain its title as the most-watched network for the 16th season in a row. It looks like CBS canceling Young Sheldon didn’t just frustrate the show’s fans. It seems that it also took many of the cast members by surprise. Annie Potts, who plays Meemaw on Young Sheldon, said the cancelation “ambushed” the entire and she calls it a “stupid business move.”
Here is what Annie Potts said about the show’s cancelation and if this is the least we will see of Meemaw.

Fans are disappointed that CBS canceled Young Sheldon despite its continued popularity and high ratings. Even some cast members have spoken out about the show ending, even though the Big Bang Theory universe will continue with a different spin-off. However, there is some exciting news about the finale.
Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will return as the adult Sheldon Cooper and his wife Amy Farrah Fowler in the series finale. Here is what you need to know.
Jim Parsons & Mayim Bialik Coming To Young Sheldon Finale
It might seem hard to believe, but neither Jim Parsons nor Mayim Bialik have ever appeared in person on Young Sheldon. Parsons has done the narration throughout the series, so he has been a part of it. However, he never appeared on camera as Sheldon in the series. Likewise, Bialik had some voice-over work on the show, but also never appeared as Amy on camera.

It's been nearly six months since the end of the unprecedented 2023 Hollywood labour disputes, which sent shockwaves through the entire entertainment industry with the suspension or cancellation of many popular and not-so-popular movies and TV series. Even now, however, the film and television industries do not seem to have fully recovered, as evidenced by distorted TV schedules, the shortening or bisection of new seasons of scripted shows, and sudden cancellations and renewals.
The case of CBS is particularly telling. While the network's flagship series such as Blue Bloods and Young Sheldon are in their final seasons, other projects are being actively renewed. Recently, CBS reversed its decision to cancel S.W.A.T. due to high ratings and picked up the police procedural for another season. The Good Wife spin-off Elsbeth has also been renewed for a second season.

In anticipation of the upcoming Young Sheldon series finale, child star Iain Armitage teamed up with his older Big Bang Theory counterpart, Jim Parsons, for a promotional TikTok video. The video was shared on the official Young Sheldon TikTok page and shows Armitage testing out a “new filter” that he says “apparently shows you what it looks like when you grow up.” “I don’t know how accurate it is going to be, but let me try it out,” Armitage says while tapping on the screen. When the young actor moves his finger away from the screen, Parsons is standing in his place. “Hmm, I’m not sure about this,” Parsons says as he assesses the results of the filter. “Oh! Young Sheldon star Annie Potts wasn’t ready for the show to end. She said she was completely unprepared when CBS announced last fall that The Big Bang Theory prequel series would conclude at the end of its seventh season.
Annie Potts says there will be ‘a grievous hole’ in her life after ‘Young Sheldon’ ends
Potts and her co-star Iain Armitage, who plays young Sheldon Cooper recently chatted with Variety about the end of Young Sheldon and the show’s upcoming series finale on May 16.
Saying goodbye to the cast and the crew after so many years of working together will be hard, said Potts, who plays Sheldon’s beloved grandma Meemaw.
“It’s a little village that we have, and we’ve all taken care of each other and raised each other up,” she shared. “There will be a grievous hole in my life. There’s no question about it.

It came down to the wire, but NCIS: Hawai’i ultimately didn’t make the cut for next season at CBS. The news comes days before the network is set to announce its fall schedule on May 2 and before the Season 3 finale of Hawai’i is scheduled to air on May 6. According to sources, the episode was not meant to be a series finale and includes a tease for what was to come but fans won’t be left reeling by a major cliffhanger.
The cancellation is not a complete shocker since, as Deadline has been reporting, NCIS: Hawai’i was on the bubble. Still, the outcome is surprising since an effort was made to extend the well performing drama’s run for at least an abbreviated fourth and final season, with producers agreeing to a massive budget cut and open to other concessions in order to keep the show going.

Young Sheldon had a good run. The CBS sitcom and The Big Bang Theory prequel starring Iain Armitage, Annie Potts, and co. is now wrapping with its seventh and final season. Undoubtedly, it is much heavier on the cast to say goodbye to the show that was started about seven years ago, focusing on the younger version of Sheldon Cooper.

For Potts, it is far too hard to wrap up the show as the actor revealed that she was devastated by the news of the show ending with the seventh season. In the sixth-to-last episode of the prequel series, a recently published paper co-authored by the future Dr. Cooper led to a frenzy of grad school recruiting. Harvard, M.I.T., Princeton, Stanford and the University of Toronto all came a-knockin’ with generous offers. Netflix’s 3 Body Problem delivered its second straight No. 1 showing among streaming titles, leading the rankings for the last week of March. The acquired series top 10 had several new entrants, thanks in part to a change in how Nielsen reports the numbers.
The ratings service says it made an “enhancement” to its Streaming Content Ratings, which is the basis for the weekly top 10 lists, that results in a number of programs being added to the Scr product. (They weren’t previously “due to business agreements which preceded the rankings, coupled with the associated technical aspects of measurement.”) The affected programs stream mostly on Hulu and Peacock after airing on linear networks.
The upshot is that former Fox series The Resident (1.48 billion minutes on Hulu and Netflix) and animated mainstays Family Guy (837 million minutes on Hulu) and American Dad (619 million on Hulu) all made their first appearance in the top...

Annie Potts is no stranger to series finales, having experienced several through the years. “The Equalizer” has been renewed for Season 5 at CBS, Variety has learned.
“’The Equalizer,’ led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season.”
With the renewal, the only current CBS series awaiting word of its fate is “NCIS: Hawai’i.” The network has renewed much of its scripted lineup already, including recent pickups for “Elsbeth” and the “FBI” franchise. CBS recently announced it was canceling both “So Help Me Todd” and “CSI: Vegas,” while shows like “Bob Hearts Abishola,” “Blue Bloods” and “Young Sheldon” are coming to an end.
Per CBS, “The Equalizer” is currently averaging over 10 million viewers per episode in Live+35 multiplatform viewing. The show is based on the 1980s CBS series of the same name.

CBS has picked up a fifth season of drama The Equalizer, starring and executive produced by Queen Latifah, for 2024-25.
As Deadline reported last week, the renewal was fully expected, with the delay related to lead studio Universal Television negotiating a deal with Queen Latifah. It recently closed, paving the way to a renewal.
So far, The Equalizer‘s seasons had been capped at 18 episodes, which is something top talent often request when signing on for a broadcast drama series. There was an effort in the Queen Latifah negotiation to increase the number to 20 or more but I hear Season 5 will again consist of 18 episodes.
After Elsbeth renewed and So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas canceled last week, NCIS: Hawai’i remains the only CBS scripted series in limbo.

As Deadline reported last week, Hawai’i’s future is said to be the subject of tough business conversations, with a partial Season 4 of 13 or fewer episodes still a possibility. It could be a final chapter for the show, the first installment in the NCIS franchise with a female lead.
The Equalizer has been a strong performer for CBS, currently ranking as the #8 most watched among all non-sports broadcast programs, averaging 7.89M linear viewers (in Nielsen most current data) and over 10 million viewers in Live+35 multi-platform viewership. It also is the #1 entertainment program among African Americans.

“The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season.”
Co-produced by CBS Studios, The Equalizer is one of four drama series Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, makes for CBS, along with the three FBIs, all of which were also recently renewed, the flagship for three seasons.
A reimagining of the classic series, The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn.
Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira and Laya DeLeon Hayes also star. Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller, co-showrunners Joseph C. Wilson and Adam Glass, Dana Owens (Queen Latifah), John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Richard Lindheim (co-creator of the original series), Shakim Compere, Joseph C. Wilson and Loretha Jones are executive producers. The Equalizer airs on CBS and is available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Fans don’t have long to accept the news because the actor’s final episode as Scott Forrester is set to air on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International,” he said.
“This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home,” he added.

CBS sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show" was a staple for American TV audiences of the '70s, thanks in large part to clever writing and Newhart's much-loved performance as psychologist and comedic straight man Bob Hartley. The show ran for six seasons from 1972 to 1978, but it had a surprisingly long pop cultural afterlife. Characters from "The Bob Newhart Show" have popped up in everything from "Murphy Brown" to "St. Elsewhere" to "Alf," though their most famous reappearance came in the jokey "Newhart" finale in 1990. In it, Newhart wakes up in bed next to his wife from the previous series and discovers that this entire sitcom was all an elaborate dream. "The Bob Newhart Show," it turned out, was his real world.
When it wasn't being resurrected for increasingly meta crossovers, "The Bob Newhart Show" was a pretty straightforward sitcom about the life of a mental health clinician and the assortment...
