Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of “DC Super Pets” back a year, avoiding opening against “John Wick 4.”
The studio announced Wednesday that “Super Pets” would be moved from May 21, 2021 to May 22, 2022. Lionsgate had announced earlier this week that it would open “John Wick 4” on the 2021 date following its highly successful opening weekend for “John Wick: Chapter 3.”
“Super Pets,” based on the Cartoon Network shorts, is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine with Patty Hicks as the producer. The characters include Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, and Streaky the Super-Cat.

Directed once again by Patrick Hughes, the sequel will see Reynolds’ bodyguard Michael Bryce enlisted by hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) and his wife Sonia (Hayek) to join them on a mission along the Amalfi Coast. Grillo will reportedly portray an interpol agent looking to prevent a cyber attack in Europe.
Grillo has a host of projects on his slate, with the likes of Boss Level, Black and Blue, Once Upon a Time in Staten Island, Hell on the Border, Point Blank and Into the Ashes all in the can and expected to release this year.

On the TV side, Grillo appeared in Mma drama Kingdom on the Audience Network.
Grillo worked with filmmaker Joe Carnahan to launched WarParty Films. Their debut film Wheelman was produced by and starred Grillo and was released on Netflix last year. According to Deadline, the film follows Nick (Grimes), “an ex-con adjusting to a normal life in rural Alabama. When a past he thought he left behind comes back to haunt him, it forces him to come to terms with his current situation and rectify a relationship he has with his father-in-law (Taylor) — all the while dealing with the one person (Grillo) who threatens to pull his world apart.”
Filming on Into the Ashes gets underway in Alabama this coming week, with Grillo producing alongside Joe Carnahan, Jamin O’Brien, Daniel Blanc, Robert Ogden Barnum and Eric Binns.
