Robert Pattinson has come quite far since his role in the Twilight movies, which, to be fair, was one of his worst acting jobs. Throughout the four films, Pattinson’s performance progressively worsened. However, he did not have much to go on with the vampire character. Pattinson proved to be a performer in films like The Childhood of a Leader, Good Time, and The Lighthouse.

Pattinson was not a fan-favorite when he was cast in the role of Batman. However, he surprised fans with his darker take on the character, something Matt Reeves also got credit for. The film has now set a major benchmark that James Gunn will have to surpass with his Dcu film, The Brave and the Bold. However, Pattinson’s upcoming projects seem to have more promise than his role as the Dark Knight.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe is expanding with Max’s The Penguin receiving rave reviews. The show focuses on Oz Cobb a.k.a The Penguin’s rise to power within Gotham’s criminal ranks in the aftermath of the events of The Batman. With the show’s success, Reeves seems to have figured out how to explore more stories in the city.
It has been maintained since the beginning that Reeves’ The Batman trilogy and any subsequent spinoff would be an Elseworld separate from the Dcu’s main continuity. However, with this Batman already expanding, James Gunn may be under pressure to ramp up his casting for the Dcu’s The Brave and the Bold.

James Gunn is in the process of creating a brand-new cinematic universe called the Dcu, designed to replace Zack Snyder’s troubled Dceu, which has experienced both significant successes and notable failures over the years.
The Dcu officially launches with the release of Creature Commandos this December; however, both Peter Safran and Gunn have emphasized that Superman, slated for a 2025 release, is considered the true beginning of the Dcu.
Peacemaker season 2 is currently in production, along with Lanterns, a True Detective-style series that will focus on three prominent Green Lanterns: Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan.
It has also been announced that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will begin production in January 2025, with a planned release in 2026. James Gunn recently clarified that just because some projects are listed on a release slate does not guarantee their release.
This is because Gunn is adamant about not starting production without a completed script,...

Wonder Woman is one of the greatest superheroes the world has ever known. A warrior from Paradise Island, a.k.a. Themyscira, she fights for people's rights and always chooses love over hate; inspiring such hope across the world ever since her introduction into DC Comics in 1941.
We've seen multiple live-action versions of the character over the years, most notably Lynda Carter's in the 1975 Wonder Woman TV series, and Gal Gadot's in the DC Extended Universe movies. It was thought that the latter would continue playing the hero for many more years to come as the Dceu was just getting started, but her future was called into question when DC Studios took over the helm as Wonder Woman 3 was cancelled.
Now, DC Studios co-chairman and CEO James Gunn has seemingly confirmed on social media that the Amazonian warrior will be recast in the new DC Universe franchise.

Superman & Lois is currently in its fourth and final season, standing out as one of the most successful Arrowverse series, even though it wasn’t directly part of the cinematic universe that the CW aimed to establish over the past decade.
Initially, the show was expected to have a longer run, as Elizabeth Tulloch confirmed in her interview with ComicBook. However, circumstances changed when Nexstar acquired the CW, resulting in the cancellation of several shows.
The show’s fate was uncertain until it was finally confirmed that the fourth season would be its last, resulting in significant budget cuts that restricted the cast size and reduced the number of episodes. At least fans are grateful that the series has been given the chance to conclude its story.

James Gunn Says DC Studios' Dcu Slate Remains In Development But Warns Some May Not Come To Fruition
Last January, DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a slate of upcoming Dcu movies and TV shows.
On the big screen, fans were promised Superman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp-Thing. As for the small one, Creature Commandos, Lanterns, Waller, Paradise Lost, and Booster Gold were all unveiled.
Last year's WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes slowed things down a little but Superman is in post-production, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is gearing up to begin shooting soon, and Lanterns is assembling its cast. Creature Commandos is also fast approaching.
However, the Dcu slate has continued to evolve. Peacemaker season 2 seemingly came out of the blue, while the trades have shared word on animated Blue Beetle and Robin projects along with movies revolving around the Teen Titans, Bane, and Deathstroke. Definitive updates on many of the titles announced last year have also been few and far between.

If you're DC Studios, the film, television, and video game company tasked with exploiting the massive roster of DC Comics characters for our entertainment and their financial gain, you obviously want your excitable fanbase focused right now on what's to come rather than what's been -- because outside of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman", Todd Phillips' "Joker" (we'll get to its sequel in a moment), and Matt Reeves' "The Batman," what DC Studios (former DC Films) has been is a complete and totally aimless disaster. When it handed the creative reins over to Zack Snyder after the somewhat underwhelming blockbuster success of "Man of Steel", it committed to a dreary run toward a "Justice League" that, even in its director's cut, was strangely joyless.
Snyder's run had its supporters (ahem), but the box office reflects an overall enthusiasm deficit compared to the miraculous, masterfully...

We’re just under two months away from the official launch of the Dcu with the release of the animated series ‘Creature Commandos.’ While both Gunn and Safran have previously stated that the true beginning will be ‘Superman,’ set for a 2025 release.
The cast of the Dcu is gradually taking shape. Superman, Supergirl, and several key Green Lanterns have already been cast, but there has been no news regarding the potential casting of Batman.
Dcu’s Batman is set to make his debut in the movie ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ which is based on the DC comics storyline of the same name. However, details about the project are scarce, with most Batman-related news coming from Reeves’ Batman Crime Epic Saga Universe.
Recently, a rumor surfaced claiming that Gunn is searching for a middle-aged Batman, which did not sit well with fans who often cast actors like Jensen Ackles and Allan Ritchson in the role.

Superman is already in post-production but when it comes to plans for the Dcu's Batman and Wonder Woman, we remain largely in the dark. James Gunn doesn't appear to be in any huge rush to fill those roles, and has instead been focused on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns in recent weeks.

We recently learned that Warner Bros. Discovery is supposedly mulling over the possibility of bringing Robert Pattinson's Batman into the Dcu. After the success of The Batman and The Penguin, we're not surprised, though getting everyone on board with the idea is another matter.
DC Studios' James Gunn and filmmaker Matt Reeves are already working together, and the latter's influence on Batman's corner of the DC Universe appears to be growing bigger all the time.
In this feature, we're diving into why "Battinson" joining the Dcu would be what's best for The Batman franchise and Gunn's reboot plans. Nothing is confirmed at this stage, but for us, the sooner Pattinson shares the screen with David Corenswet's Superman, the better...mostly.

To say that the early results for "Joker: Folie a Deux" weren't exactly what everyone at Warner Bros. had in mind would be a polite understatement. The high-profile sequel from director Todd Phillips has been met with what might be best described as disdain from many critics and audiences thus far. Its prospects are not great, particularly in light of the sequel's terrible opening weekend at the box office. Some of the only good news here in the early going is that DC Studios won't have to wear this as a stain on its reputation.
Those who saw "Joker 2" in theaters over the weekend might have noticed that the new DC Studios logo didn't appear in the film's credits, either before or after the film itself. DC Studios kicked off last year by revealing the "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" Dcu slate. The downside was it told people that 2023's Dceu movies didn't matter and, for the most part, they ended up flopping.
Reviews also weren't overly kind and the DC brand is now very nearly damaged beyond repair (even Joker: Folie à Deux looks set to underperform at the box office this weekend). As a result, it's up to James Gunn and Peter Safran to turn things around.
However, as the Dcu slate continues to expand - without a single one of their movies playing in theaters - it's time to look back at how "Gods and Monsters" has evolved. There are good and bad elements and a great many unanswered questions.

Here's some interesting news to kickstart October as it's being reported that DC Studios and Warner Bros. Picture Animation are developing an innovative new animated film titled Dynamic Duo, which will center on popular Batman disciples Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
As per a brief synopsis, the film follows "the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd aka the Robins. The duo call themselves the Dynamic Duo. They’re orphan thieves, best friends who share dreams of a better life, but their friendship will be tested by competing visions of a future out of which will come a new Dynamic Duo."
Arthur Mintz will be the director on the project, while Matthew Aldrich (Lightyear; Coco) scripted the feature. The animation will be done by a new studio called Swaybox, which is led by Mintz and wife Theresa Andersson.

By now, it’s widely known that Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a massive hit. Although it was set in a different universe than the Dceu at the time, introducing a second Batman, it doesn’t seem like it will be connected to James Gunn’s new Dcu.
Despite the changes brought on by DC’s recent revamps, Reeves’ solo series appears to remain unaffected. While some fans feared that his original plans would be scrapped, Reeves seems poised to continue building his own world. Gunn will focus on his version of the character, while Reeves will keep developing Robert Pattinson’s iteration.
However, a new rumor suggests that Warner Bros. executives want to capitalize on the success of The Batman, with the CEO reportedly pushing for Pattinson to become the primary Batman in the Dcu, potentially overriding Gunn’s initial plans.

And although Matt Reeves’ solo series appears to remain unaltered in that regard, the DC revamps brought about a number of adjustments. It appears that Reeves won’t miss out on the opportunity to create his world, as some fans had feared when the original plans were shelved.
Gunn will, as it stands now, work on his own version of the character, while Reeves will continue to work with Robert Pattinson’s version.
But, a recent rumor confirms that the WB heads want to capitalize on the success of Batman (and The Batman), and that the CEO is pushing for Pattinson to become the main Dcu Batman,...

A recent report suggested that Warner Bros. is pushing for Robert Pattinson's Batman to become the Dcu's main Caped Crusader.

DC Studios is creating a new shared world meant to rival the MCU, but it sounds like Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav's patience may already be wearing thin.
Last year's strikes saw James Gunn and Peter Safran forced to down tools on several upcoming Dcu movies and TV shows. While Creature Commandos is nearly here and Superman is in post-production for a summer 2025 release, there's still a long way to go until DC Studios can find even a measure of Marvel Studios' success.
Batman remains DC's biggest draw - even a show without him, The Penguin, is a ratings hit - but with The Batman - Part II not heading our way until 2026, what of DC Studios' The Brave and the Bold?

Two of Batman’s most popular foes, Bane and Deathstroke, are set to share the screen as Warner Bros’ new look DC Universe continues to take shape.
Both Bane and Deathstroke have graced cinema screens before. When it comes to the comic books, the duo are among the more beloved members of Batman’s colourful cast of villains, and it looks like that popularity has led to a supervillain team-up movie that will introduce the characters to James Gunn’s all-new DC Universe.
Next year will see Warner Bros’ new line of DC movies kick off with Superman: Legacy, written and directed by Gunn himself. Following that, a string of films have been announced including a Batman movie, The Brave And The Bold and Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. Then there are planned TV shows such as HBO’s Lanterns, a space cop series that will feature the Green Lantern corps.

Superhero movies have ebbed and flowed in terms of popularity since Christopher Reeve first took flight in 1978’s “Superman.” But if there’s a character that will always be welcome by the filmgoing public, it’s Batman. Since Tim Burton brought the iconic DC comics character into the modern blockbuster age with his 1989 take on Gotham City, the Caped Crusader and his gallery of iconic rogues — from the devilish Joker to the seductive Catwoman — have been constant fixtures of cineplexes everywhere. Every film starring the character seems destined to do decent (if not exceptional) business: “Batman & Robin,” considered a financial disappointment that briefly killed the franchise off, still made over $200 million.
It’s not a surprise that Batman is the hero we most love to see on our movie screens. He’s both one of the most relatable superheroes of them all and the one most unlike ourselves: an...

Casting for Batman is not an easy task, especially for an iconic legacy character, and this is why it is taking ages for James Gunn to find the right actor for the job. Interestingly, fans already have their bet for the role and have been campaigning hard and suggesting it to the head of DC Studios.

John Dimaggio is perhaps best known for his roles on Futurama. Among his other roles is Aquaman for Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Aquaman was one of the funniest characters on a show full of humor and charm. Well known for his classic costume design, and his catchphrase: Outrageous!
Aquaman makes many appearances in The Brave and the Bold. His first major appearance was in the episode "Evil Under The Sea!" Aquaman was one of Batman's most trusted allies his entire time on the show, and he admired Batman greatly. Batman and Aquaman often teamed up for their crime-fighting endeavors, on land or underwater.
Tons of DC heroes and villains appeared in The Brave and the Bold, but few as prolific as Aquaman. Aquaman made tons of appearances, whether it be in episodes like "Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure," or when Batman formed a new Justice League.

The review embargo for The Penguin lifted earlier today (you can read our roundup of verdicts here) and that means we now have an all-important Rotten Tomatoes score for the HBO/Max series.
The Batman spin-off was originally conceived as the first of a slate of Max-exclusive TV shows set in Matt Reeves' Bat-verse. Projects set in the Gcpd and Arkham Asylum didn't pan out, leaving The Penguin to bridge the gap between The Batman and The Batman II.
As we write this, The Penguin sits at 91% based on 32 reviews. From what we can tell, the vast majority of critics were given access to the entire 8-episode season. With that in mind, it's unlikely to be a bait-and-switch akin to Secret Invasion which dipped massively in quality after the first two instalments were offered for review.
For context, The Batman is "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with an 85% score, while...

James Gunn is set to reboot the shared universe of films based on DC Comics, with the upcoming film Superman. However, Gunn’s plans go beyond a single film and include a new Batman movie, subtitled The Brave and the Bold. On social media, some fans suggest Morena Baccarin as a casting choice for Catwoman in Gunn’s Dcu.

Baccarin is a popular pick for the role but has past ties to other DC Comics-based properties. However, that might not be why Gunn could be apprehensive about casting the actress as Catwoman. It's been a while since we had any official word The Batman - Part II, and the lack of updates following the announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be heading up a new Dcu led to some speculation that the movie may have been delayed yet again or possibly even shelved altogether.
These were valid concerns given the DC Studios heads' decision to (almost) completely revamp everything that came before and introduce a brand-new Caped Crusader in The Brave and the Bold, but Gunn has always assured fans that the "BatVerse" would continue as an Elseworlds franchise.
Now, co-writer Mattson Tomlin has confirmed reports that cameras are set to begin rolling in 2025, and his comments suggest that the sequel will be worth the wait.
"It's shooting next year. We're gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher," Tomlin told ScreenRant.

When Warner Bros. Discovery decided to pull the plug on Batgirl - despite the fact principal photography had ended - fans and filmmakers alike were left reeling. It was an unprecedented move and one which saw Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah's (Ms. Marvel) DC Comics adaptation deemed "unreleasable" in the press.
Considering the fact moviegoers had already suffered through the likes of Black Adam and The Flash, it was hard to believe a title made for Max could really be all that bad. Ultimately, it felt like David Zaslav simply wanted to save money by scrapping a movie which wouldn't recoup its costs from a streaming debut.
For what it's worth, DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran has said Batgirl "was not releasable" and praised "Zaslav and the team [for making a] very bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC."

As of right now, 2022's "The Batman" exists as a single film and nothing more. That's all going to change this fall when the spin-off series "The Penguin" arrives, as the show picks up in the aftermath of director Matt Reeves' film, bringing back Colin Farrell as the title character, aka "Oz Cobb," short for Oswald Cobblepot, his name from the pages of DC Comics. It turns out that Reeves and his producing partner Dylan Clark have a name for this forthcoming franchise within the larger DC Universe. Get ready for the "Batman Epic Crime Saga."

The Dcu has a number of projects lined up for the coming years, with ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ Dcu’s take on Batman, being one of the most anticipated. The word on the street is that Glen Powell is coming off from his storm-chasing high to take on the gritty, crime-infested underworld of Gotham. While that certainly presents the fans with an interesting proposition, it can also mean that should the rumor turn out to be untrue, the mass outcry will be the cause of its own effect.

Recent revelations have sparked debate among superhero movie fans about whether “The Flash” might have been a stronger film under different direction. Shawn Levy, now helming Marvel’s highly anticipated “Deadpool & Wolverine,” disclosed that he was once in talks to direct the DC superhero film before Andy Muschietti ultimately took the reins.
While “The Flash” received mixed reviews upon its release, with praise for Ezra Miller’s performance and emotional depth, it also faced criticism for its CGI, multiverse handling, and controversial cameos. Some industry observers now speculate that Levy’s proven track record with balancing heart, humor, and spectacle might have addressed these issues.
