My mind loves to play with picking up accents, since I was young. Don't know how accurate I am ever, but I can generally do well enough to amuse myself. I lived in Baltimore for 5 years. At no point did I master even the slightest bit of that powerfully grating yawp, other than writing 'flares' for flowers on my shopping list. Even having just binged this, that twisted long-O eludes me. Ayew. Ay(r)eu. Eu(r)ieu. I got nothing.
Jon Bernthal brings that miserable sound in all its glory. There's a reason most listener's have never heard this horrible accent before. Even John Waters keeps it out of his films. Respect that Bernthal mastered it so well.
Baltimore is a great example of failed policy. Many blocks are all boarded up, or have one or two occupancies. Much of it should just be bulldozed flat. These were communities. If we survive, we will one day look back on the Drug War as as big a stain on history as the Inquisitions. It is a deliberate holocaust. Baltimore is no accident.
