A pretty unremarkable film, but one that I did see through to the end.

Elliot from E. T is working in a crawl space under a wooden house. Up above him the bad guys are looking for some ill gotten loot.

It seems to have some unintentional slapstick to it, because I laughed a few times although probably for the wrong reasons!

Someone has compared it slightly to Home Alone, but I'd say Harry and Marv were intellectually smarter than the two inept baddies in this!

If you're really stuck for something to watch then give it a go. I'm sure you'll have better ideas of what should be done in certain situations compared to what was actually done.

Home alone with blood.
durham10014 June 2022
This isn't bad but at times you feel it doesn't know if it wants to be a out and out thriller or a comedy. However, it turns out to be both and is very funny in places and the premise is good, if a little flawed (is there really only one way to get under the house?). The performances are fine, jennifer robertson and Henry Thomas especially and there is a twist I didn't see coming. It's not the greatest film you will ever see but is a perfectly acceptable time passer. The kind of movie you say "that was allright that was" at the end.

could be better
SnoopyStyle15 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nice guy plumber Robert Mitchell (Henry Thomas) and his wife Carrie (Olivia Taylor Dudley) have a new baby and money issues. He's on the job under Tim Witner's house, Tim gets murdered above him by bumbling criminals, Sterling and Dooley. Tim has been dealing drugs and using his mill for illegal logging. He had hidden a duffle bag full of cash in the crawlspace which Robert discovers. Deputy Jordan Pacer and Sheriff Higgon are investigating the illegal logging when they're joined by FBI agent Helen Masur.

This could be better. I like the simplicity of the part with Henry Thomas and the two idiot criminals. The two idiot could be less idiotic and that would raise the intensity. The investigation half is less interesting and somewhat slower. I could see the twist coming although the aftermath makes no sense. There is no way for the villain to escape unless she kills everyone. She needs to kill the bad guys and the good guys, anyone who knows anything about the scheme. When that's done, she can write her own story. The twist is fine, but everything after that is problematic. This should simply be Henry Thomas under the floor battling two criminals and nothing else. That would have been better.

Unintentionally hilarious.
doremimi7 March 2023
If you can get through the boring first half hour or so, you might actually get some laughs out of one of the most unintentionally hilarious movies I've ever seen. There are plenty of ridiculous plot points, and some of the most embarrassingly bad acting I've seen in a long time, including one of the worst-acted death scenes in history. Without giving anything away, it occurs near the end of the movie. When I was five years old, I used to play cowboys and indians with my cousins, and I could fake die from a fake gunshot wound more convincingly than this. I'd advise skipping this one, unless you're just looking for something to make fun of.

Potentially fun action film, ruined by porn-level acting
veo29 September 2022
The opening 5 minutes were perfect, I was surprised how carefully the scenes were written... and then Henry Thomas and Olivia Taylor Dudley entered and I was looking at porn-level acting. I'm not exaggerating, they can't act! Then Jennifer Robertson appeared and she was worse... and then the rest, each one worse than the previous one.

This film could have been good, enjoyable mindless fun, but the actors are beyond anything you would imagine in terms of bad, bad acting.

If they ever make a remake with *real* actors and they even hire a director, I'll watch it. Until then, I'm sorry, it's a hard no.

Set your expectations at zero and you'll still be disappointed
kevinmcourtney29 September 2022
I expected it to be bad, but it's even worse than you'd imagine possible. And not in a fun, awesomely bad way. Bad in a way that you can't even enjoy it. I don't know what the minimum amount of damage is required to file a class action lawsuit, but anyone who sat through this entire thing should be eligible to recoup damages.

With one or two exceptions the acting is terrible. The director was handed a script that isn't even worthy of giving the dignity of a shredder death and still managed to make the movie even worse than the horrible writing would dictate. I kept watching to the end because I was expecting something to happen, and to be fair there was an intriguing twist at one point, but then it quickly becomes obsolete and you're pulled back into the black hole of entertainment that is Crawlspace.

This is some not funny parody
opticuscro25 August 2022
The film has a good concept, but an epically poorly presented story. Here are some examples, so the main "hero" of the story is under the house and has a cell phone, but he doesn't call for help wtf (he obviously has signal and batteries because he had a missed call from his wife). On the other hand, the villains who are upstairs in the house "like" cannot get to him under the house, the only thing that separates them from the hero of the story are the thin boards on the floor and that's all considering that after the shot in the floor a hole of light was immediately shown which it means that it is rather thin floor, but apparently it is hard to remember to remove wooden floor. Mostly the movie is overcrowded with such scenes and it simply kills the movie completely. I watched it to the end, but it's more of a parody than an action, not a comic parody, ugh, it's hard to explain.

Trapspace
cahidi24 June 2022
It's a situational thriller with a little boring starter and a fairly boring main character. He's too vanilla, goody two shoes. Which is why I was surprised when the thriller part kicked in, he turned out to be a little... well, a LOT tougher. He fought back the enemies. At first the plot was pretty straight forward. But nearing the end of the movie, there's a pleasant little twist. Not that much, but still pretty good. I mean, at least I didn't expect it at all. And along the thriller scenes, there were some accidental comedic potentials. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it made the movie so much refreshing than before (it was pretty boring TBH). So over all, I think it's good enough for 6 stars.

Unnecessary plot. Bad acting.
jbradyw16 June 2022
Although the whole idea and premise of the movie was workable and a good idea, the script writers totally screwed the movie over. There is far too many examples of people ignoring common sense, unrealistic police procedures, and a lot or bad acting mostly from the plumber. And it is really bad when a character talks to themselves out of context to extend the plot. The plot twist was ok, but watching this movie made me angry while watching the characters completely ignore common sense.

Not bad
luckystar-5919624 August 2022
Home alone meets the A team meets macgiver, a plumber gets mixed up in a bungling pair trying to ransack a corrupted man's house to gain money.

It's not bad, but not good either. It's much more than some of the low ratings and it's an ok watch, the twist is not exactly ground breaking but this film doesn't pretend to be either. It was alright, touch teeth grinding with the injuries and certain characters didnt really need to be there but it's watchable.

Moronic.
jamosmonk15 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Is it that hard to write a decent script with a good premise? Instead of one where people do things that make no sense and rely on false premises to create a plot. Requires suspension of disbelief that can't be managed. People stand still waiting to get shot by a crossbow. People speaking to cops about their bosses business without the boss present. Just silly police procedures that aren't followed. Cops firing warning shot into air! Just idiocy. Not escaping when multiple opportunities present themselves. If this is a comedy then it's okay,I guess, but they sure seemed serious.smh.

A must see movie for all plumbers
ronniedarko-0231129 November 2022
My great granddad was a plumber. My grandad was a plumber. My dad was an accountant. I have been torn most of my life between becoming a plumber or an accountant. After watching this thriller of a movie I have finally decided, I will become a plumber! I have always respected the profession but had no idea how epic plumbing could be. Finding hidden loot in the crawl space, making Wolverine style nail claw gloves, making improvised cross bows out of piping. Taking on a whole town of corruption with nothing more than your pride, good looks, and upper tier plumbing skills. Take a seat John Rambo, there's a new plumber in town.

Should of been labeled slapstick thriller
samanthagr1019 February 2023
Words fail me, but I am cold blooded, heartless machine of a woman. Shortest review ever- grab a bag of chips and prepare to giggle for all the wrong reasons. You have seen this movie before. I am glad to see Henry Thomas in some things recently. He has grown to an appropriate aged actor who isn't half bad in roles. I think Keven Bacon says you don't have to be a big movie star, but being a good, responsible actor who like a challenge and enjoys it- that's acting. The interaction between Thomas and goons is unintentionally hilarious. The goons are straight out of central casting:: tall, skinny guy with the brains and the dumpy one who is .. dumpy. But this is movie is a fun way waste a cold Saturday afternoon!

Crawling along...
Stanlee10731 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This feels like a TV movie that has elements of cheese & some of the characters are the typical clichéd ones. It isn't the worst type of movie in said genre. It is watchable but very underwhelming.

The plot lines move along at a snail pace & I'm sure they have paid homage or borrowed elements from the home alone films... However this is played straight & the ott antagonist is the predictable psychopathic, narcissistic type with his partner in crime like Lenny from of mice & men.

The ending has an extra dose of cheese that is borderline too much. The "attempts" at humour feels more cringe than anything else.

Don't waste your time
rochellecooper-2595515 January 2023
This is worst that a B movie. Why they just didn't tear the floor up and drag the man out. Fake blood don't even move or drip. Characters can't act except the FBI lady. Best one yet. ..walk movie..omgg. What you want.me to.say.how the robbers look like 2 bozo and they don't even fit the part. But I'm at least going to finish it.

The husband looks like he's 50 and his wife looks 25 stop putting these young blond chick's in movies. That look like your daughters. What a waste of my time . If this review goes through..stop and watch something else. Seriously..don't waste your time..even the dialog sucks.

What a shame!
Guanche4811 July 2023
It's been a while since I've seen Eliot from ET, the actor Henry Thomas, it's good to see him in a recent movie but unfortunately a very bad one.

Right from the beginning the movie begins to irritate me, a typical family, and a mother with a newborn who complains about not making ends meet, and they have to change their tactics. Only if you don't get to pay your bills, don't have a child, right? It's like it happens in real life, same. It is also hard for me to pay the bills at the end of the month, so don't get me wrong!

Here the total lack of interest in the characters stands out, which is why the story is very boring and laughable, but without humor. As the previous review says, this is a comedy but without the intention of being one.

Apart from this, it is veeery predictable, I had to skip the scenes forward just to reach the end and write this review.

Waste of money and missed opportunity, don't even bother.

It's a B class Saferoom
lamborghiniman7514 August 2022
Acting wasn't great but definitely not bad. Movie was tolerable, I'd probably watch it again. Well written story.

Definitely worth a shot. If it wasn't for seeing it on my flight I would have never tried it. Reminded me a lot of the Saferoom movie, similar concept.

A decent enough thriller
LetsReviewThat262 October 2023
Crawlspace had an interesting concept and was nothing that seemed overdone. The biggest problem I did have with this film however was the acting in certain places. It was bad and made parts of the film become flat. Henry Thomas is back to acting. I don't think I've seen him since castle rock and it's good seeing him. I'd even say he was the best thing about this film. He plays a plumber that uses a houses Crawlspace, that is until he witness to men kill another one for cash. That happens to be where Thomas is. What follows is a fight for servival and it's pretty fun to watch after get. Overall not great but this film was still a decent enough watch and was entertaining.

Fairly generic thriller...
paul_haakonsen18 June 2022
I stumbled upon the 2022 thriller "Crawlspace" from writer Jacob D. Wehrman and director L. Gustavo Cooper here in 2022 without ever having heard about the movie. But I opted to sit down and watch it, as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen.

And while "Crawlspace" definitely was watchable and entertaining enough for what it was, then it just wasn't an outstanding thriller. Sure, the storyline was good and well enough written, but overall then the movie was somewhat generic and predictable. A shame really, because "Crawlspace" could have been more than what director L. Gustavo Cooper churned out.

The acting performances in the movie were fairly good, and Henry Thomas did a good job in the leading role. Now, "Crawlspace" is a movie with a relatively small cast ensemble, so there was a bit of additional pressure on the actors and actresses to carry the movie. And they did manage to do so.

"Crawlspace" is essentially an average, generic and straight forward thriller. And that is both what makes it a watchable movie, but also at the same time a movie that you will not return to watch a second time.

My rating of "Crawlspace" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Pretty good for a one time watch with friends
Luv2Spooge20 June 2022
It's a feel good movie, almost, with a combination of comedy and action. Personally I wished it had more comedic elements, would've been great, but a the pacing was not as good as it could've been despite the 1 and a 1/2 hr run time. There was too much downtime between each sequence as we watched the bad guys and the good guys trying to figure out what to do.

But overall, it still flowed well, kept you engaged. The twist was well set up, I didn't see it coming. It's a good one time watch with friends on a weekend.

6/10.

Implausible
setmargaretgns23 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Oh for heaven's sake! You're not trapped! Stop talking to the baddies and lie low! Your wife and all those cops she's talking to are gonna be looking for you in about two hours. If the money doesn't matter to you, put it outside the hatch and let them leave. Crawl out through the hatch on one of the 45 times they're not looking, and run away. Put the hose full of inflammable gas back OUT the other window directly to your right! Set fire to the gas yourself and it'll travel back up the pipe and set fire to them! You've got a blow torch for gawd's sakes! YOU'RE NOT TRAPPED!! You're lucky your nemeses are dimmer than you, is all I can say.

Exciting with a twist of "You got this, hero"

I liked it. Henry Thomas should work more often. He had me rooting for him from the start. Easy to follow storyline with the right amount of surprises.

A fine, non-pretentious thriller
johannes2000-125 July 2023
This is a non-pretentious, but even so very fine thriller. The story is original and solid, the pace is good, and there's even a nice plot-twist that I hadn't seen coming. In spite of the very limited settings (the claustrophobically narrow crawlspace and the sitting room above it) the movie still was entertaining enough to keep me on the edge of my chair until the end. Bradley Striker maybe went a bit overboard in his part as an extremely relentless villain, but it suited the story fine. And Henry Thomas may not be the world's greatest heroic actor, but that was in fact the whole point of the story: the simple and kind plumber who singlehandedly saves the day.

I'm just a plumber.....
FlashCallahan3 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After witnessing a brutal murder in a cabin, a plumber, who's obviously in the wrong place at the wrong time, hides in a crawlspace while the killers scour the property for a hidden fortune.

As they draw nearer, he must decide if the crawlspace will be his tomb or the battleground in his fight for survival......

Well it would be a pretty short film if Henry Thomas went for the former choice.

Please don't be deceived by some of the artwork that this film Carrie's, it's certainly not Die Hard with Elliott, or die hard in a shack. What we have is Henry Thomas, trapped below a house with two bad guys trying to get him out.

They try smoke, shouting, swearing, threats and numerous other stuff, whist Elliott drills holes in the floor, repeats a threat he gave to his newborn earlier, and in one instance, covers himself in a rug.

It's nothing to shout home about, apart from Thomas, whom we have to digest that he was some sort of Royal Marine in the past, the rest of the cast are pretty bad, and a last minute plot twist just hampers what already is a pretty bland affair.

It's not terrible, but this will soon be forgotten. They should have asked E. T to appear in it.

He hasn't done anything in ages.....

Cringeworthy
matthysdt6 January 2024
The only thing lamer than this movie's script is the acting. This is Home Alone meets Die Hard, but with the type of cast and acting you'd expect from a children's movie, except only, it's not meant for kids. The movie is filled with clichés, from the modest plumber with an apparent (yet unconvincing) McGuyver streak to the eventual (extremely) unlikely mastermind that nobody expected. Nothing in the standoff between the the plumber and the bad guys is convincingly real, anyone watching the movie would be able to come up with a hundred alternative scenes and good guy - bad guy interactions that would be much more realistic and way less lame. Don't waste your time on this one.
