Korean crime-action webtoon “Knuckle Girl” is being adapted as an original film production for Amazon’s Prime Video. It is structured as a Korea-Japan co-venture.
The narrative revolves around a promising woman boxer, Ran, who takes on school bullies and participates in illegal bouts. When her sister is kidnapped by a criminal gang, Ran must risk her own life, by breaking into the underworld wearing brass knuckledusters, rather than boxing gloves.
The film is directed by Chang, the Korean director who goes by a single name and whose 2014 film “The Target” debuted in the Midnight screening section at Cannes. Writing credits go to Yoo Gap-yeol, whose “Emergency Declaration” also debuted in Cannes, in 2021, and Jeong Byeong-sik (“The Villain”) who wrote the adaptation.
Despite the Korean pedigree, the film stars Japanese female actor Miyoshi Iyaka, who achieved fame with 2010 film “Confession” and stars in both seasons of Netflix’s Japanese dystopian thriller “Alice in Borderland.

After years of abandoned release dates, Lil Uzi Vert’s new album Pink Tape has finally arrived.
The album spans 26 songs and includes collaborations with Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, and Don Toliver. Also featured are metalcore band Bring Me the Horizon and J-pop metal group Babymetal. Plus, Lil Uzi Vert covers System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!” and samples Eiffel 65’s “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” on the Nicki Minaj collab “Endless Fashion.”
The album was preceded by a trailer directed by Gibson Hazard, which really acts as a mini action movie more than anything. The four-minute clip begins with an anime-version of Uzi, whose infamous $24 million pink diamond is ripped from their forehead by some sort of ancient samurai. From there, the video cuts to the real-life rapper, who travels across Japan to retain their ice. The short features heavy trap beats as well as pop punk instrumentals — as...

March Madness continues — are we seeing the most significant rebound since theaters reopened?
On Thursday, “Scream 6” (Paramount) took in $5.7 million. That stemmed from a combination of 5 p.m. fan events and regular initial previews, but no matter how Ghostface sliced it: That’s big.
How big? That beats the impressive “Creed III” (MGM) performance last week of $5.45 million and it’s much bigger than last year’s initial “Scream” reboot, which generated $3.5 million. However, this one has “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega in the lead.
Last weekend, “Creed III” flew to $58.4 million; in January 2022, “Scream” opened to $30 million. The strong preview for “Scream 6” is even more impressive when industry expectations placed the horror film last among the four highly touted sequels that will be released this month. (“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” from Warner Bros. Discovery and “John Wick: Chapter 4 are still to come.)

This JUNG_E article contains spoilers.
From Yeon Sang-ho, the director of Train to Busan, JUNG_E is a sci-fi drama set in a dystopian future where the Earth has been ravaged by climate change and is no longer habitable. Humans are forced to abandon the planet for man-made shelters in space, though not every shelter is on board with their proposed leadership. What remains of humanity becomes engulfed in a civil war between the Allied Forces and the Adrian Republic.
But there’s more to JUNG_E than war games and big CG-laden battles. Deep down, Sang-ho’s newest film is about the ethics of AI bred for war and the commercialization of death. JUNG_E tells the story of Captain Yun Jung-yi, a legendary soldier whose failed final mission leads to her brain being cloned by a military AI development company, Kronoid, in an effort to design the ultimate robotic soldier in her image.
