Sunrise on the Reaping Title Meaning Sheds Light on the Hunger Games' Beginnings - Main Image
The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins recently confirmed that there's another prequel story coming our way. But what fans don't get is the meaning behind the Sunrise on the Reaping title for Haymitch Abernathy's story.
Well, this article explores exactly that, while waiting for the fifth novel in the series to release in 2025.
Since The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes refers to how Lucy Gray Baird united the people through her song, contrasting Cornelius Snow's (and the Capitol's) snake-like tendencies of betrayal, how does Sunrise on the Reaping connect with Haymitch?

“I want to thank my wife, my partner in life — Susan Hufford — who made this possible. Not only this, but all the good things in my life since I met her. And I tell you this not only because it’s true, but because she told me to tell you. Because she said that’s what David Canary and Peter Bergman always say.”

Those were the heartfelt words of Michael Zaslow of “Guiding Light” as he accepted the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actor in 1994. It was his third time in as many years vying for the prize for his part as Springfield’s most reviled citizen, Roger Thorpe. Zaslow had played Roger from 1971 to 1980, and resumed the role in 1989. He seemed genuinely surprised when Linda Dano (the 1993 Daytime Emmy winner for Best Actress for “Another World”) read his name.

The year was 1989 when Michael Keaton first donned the cape and cowl for Tim Burton’s Batman, Cher wanted to turn back time, and Marty McFly bungled the most sure-fire get-rich-quick scheme in cinematic history in Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future Part II.
After the monumental success of Back to the Future, Univeral Studios approached Robert Zemeckis about creating a sequel to his film that had quickly become a pop culture touchstone. Hesitant about capturing lightning in a bottle twice, Zemeckis said he wouldn’t make the film unless Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd returned as Marty McFly and Doc Brown, respectively. Thankfully, both were game to gas up the DeLorean and push the speedometer to 88mph for another excursion through time. With Fox and Lloyd confirmed, Zemeckis arranged his ceremonial objects to summon his writing partner, Bob Gale, to determine where Marty and Doc would travel next.

I remember the early days of Destiny. The glimpses of footage, the beta test, and Peter Dinklage telling us that, by God, that wizard came from the moon. They were good days, and I was committed to all of it in my usually solo way. In 2017, Destiny 2 (from here I’m going to refer to the sequel as Destiny proper) promised to continue the story left hanging after the Taken King’s rise and the Vex’s attempt to master reality via time manipulation. The sequel-slash-continuation opened with a violent surge of Cabal into the Last City, leaving Guardians depowered, afraid, and scattered in the dangerous wilds.
It was a strong start, requiring more skill to survive the amplified risks ahead of us as players. New strikes and raids promised even tighter challenges, and the story continued to evolve. Forsaken – the first big expansion and the introduction to Destiny’s...

Star Wars is now one of the biggest franchises of all time. Whether it is the movies, TV shows, toys, or comics, the franchise has now become a part of popular culture and will undeniably remain so, for decades to come. Yet, the first-ever Star Wars movie was plagued with development and production issues, so severe were these issues that George Lucas nearly had a heart attack.
George Lucas via Star Wars/Youtube
In the middle of these issues, Lucas decided to screen the rough cut of the movie to some of his industry colleagues. While auteurs like Steven Spielberg struggled to understand it, even the movie’s editor, Paul Hirsch was unable to make heads or tails out of it.

Amid a generally positive market the familiar gripe of high asking prices has sent a clear message that buyers and sellers are finding it increasingly tough to reconcile their respective financial models.
The tension remains particularly acute on A-list market packages, where independent producers have fought (and paid) to attract and hold on to talent in a post-strike world where hefty offers from studios and streamers, driven by talent agents, have been hard to resist.
The ripple effect has forced sales agents to push up their asks in order to recoup financiers’ investments. Sales estimates set more than a year ago,...

If you think of the word “frozen” today, a certain Disney movie and the song “Let It Go” come to mind. If you thought of that word in 1998, Madonna’s ballad “Frozen” would have come to mind. While “Let It Go” is a fun show tune for little kids, “Frozen” is the superior song for many reasons. The Queen of Pop explained what she thought of “Frozen” in retrospect.
The difference between ‘Let It Go’ and Madonna’s ‘Frozen’
“Let It Go” has a fun Broadway melody reminiscent of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. Its message is great for little kids who want to rebel against their parents by staying up past their bedtime. However, it’s not the sort of rebel song that works for anyone over the age of seven. It’s a little too tame and, well, Disneyesque for that. Walt Disney probably would have loved it but...

Ryan Reynolds’ introduction to the superhero realm wasn’t exactly amusing. Not long after playing Deadpool in one of the lowest-rated X-Men entries, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in 2011, the actor starred as Hal Jordan in the live-action Green Lantern movie. Despite having a huge budget, the movie was criticized for its choppy CGI, especially the suit, which was done entirely in CGI, and the apparent plans of branding it as the first Dceu entry were scrapped.
While Reynolds was able to recoup from his Deadpool debacle, the Lanterns are yet to make their way back to the big screen, and fans have now taken matters into their own hands.

In the 1980s, you would have been hard-pressed to find anybody who had access to cocaine not on cocaine. And that especially went for those in the world of entertainment. As such, it was only a matter of time before a movie would give it the spotlight…and that movie was 1983’s Scarface. Appropriately enough, Oliver Stone — then a serious lover of booger sugar — was tasked to write Scarface. All he needed to do was kick his habit…
In an excerpt from the new book “The World Is Yours: The Story of Scarface”, Oliver Stone remembered being in serious need of a hit, having just helmed flop The Hand. At the time, he admitted, “I was on cocaine. I was doing cocaine, and I was really an addict, without knowing it.” He added, “I did all the research for Scarface on cocaine, in and out of the country. It was...

Colin Stetson has announced his new album, The Love It Took to Leave You, due out on September 13th. As a preview, the acclaimed saxophonist has shared the nearly eight-minute title track.
The Love It Took to Leave You was recorded in early 2023 at Montreal’s The Darling Foundry, a 144-year-old former metalworks facility transformed into a modern art complex. “We were using the same live setup as I normally would to amplify — a full Pa in the building’s spaces,” Stetson explained in a statement. “So we were really able to move the kind of air that I can move — really saturating the room, hitting the walls hard. And then we further fleshed it out.”

The Destiny franchise has been one of the most successful live-service game series out there for nearly a decade. In some ways, it represents both the best and worst of what that model can bring to the table. It has had many ups and downs and its winds are wildly unpredictable at times.
Through all of that, it has maintained one of the most loyal player bases in gaming. I have been playing the franchise since the very beginning, and as with many others, I feel as though this franchise sometimes gives me intense whiplash. When it first launched, there was a lot of talk around the franchise’s supposed “10-year plan.” Many have mocked it, and many live service games have parroted that promise only to fail long before coming close to it.

It’s undeniable that Michael Jackson was the King of Pop and Madonna is the Queen of Pop — but only one of them had the higher net worth. While the two stars ruled the 1980s, they had very different careers. Shockingly, one of them was worth over a billion dollars more than the other.
Madonna’s net worth is huge
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Madonna was born on August 16, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan. She debuted with the now-forgotten single “Everybody,” but her self-titled debut album produced three subsequent hits: “Holiday,” “Borderline,” and “Lucky Star.” She became a megastar with her second album, Like a Virgin. Between the album’s title track and the song “Material Girl,” Madonna established herself as a provocative performer who was not afraid to flaunt her sexuality.
