The Assassination of Senator Kinsey
claudio_carvalho24 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Three days after the assassination of Senator Kinsey by a sniper, O 'Neill returns from his vacation to the SGC and is arrested for his murder. The liaison Major Davis shows a footage from the security camera of the hotel where the sniper shot Kinsey with O'Neill leaving the spot. General Hammond assigns the SG-1 to investigate the crime and soon Sam believes that someone might have used the alien mimic device stored at Area 51 to impersonate and incriminate O'Neill. Their further investigation shows that the devices have been stolen and replaced by fake ones and one scientist is the prime suspect. Meanwhile Sam heads to Washington to meet NID agent Malcolm Barrett that discloses a shadow internal organization in NID formed by rogue agents is under top secret investigation and Kinsey was helping them.

"Smoke & Mirrors" is another excellent episode of SG-1. Now rogue agents are using the mimic devices from "Foothold" to get rid of obstacles in their Machievellian plan. The last scene with O'Neill and Kinsey indicates that the storyline may have a detour if Kinsey succeeds in his intent. My vote is eight.

Entertaining despite no gate travel
sloopnp4 April 2019
I'm usually not a fan of the episodes with no gate travel and are too political. I can just turn on the news if I want to see politicians bicker. But, this episode was entertaining. The few scenes with Teal'c were hilarious and Jonas is filling Jackson's role very nicely.

Had me for a sec

A well developed storyline with an interesting throwback to a prior episode. The resolution was clever and they definitely had me for a second at the beginning.
