Conventional Episode
claudio_carvalho7 February 2017
The SG-3 reports to the SGC that the planet Latona is under a Goa'uld since their powerful defense system called The Sentinel is not working. The SG-1 blames the rogue NID team commanded by Maybourn that had disassemble and reassembled the piece of equipment to learn and steal its technology. Jack brings the former Colonel Sean Grieves and Lieutenant Kershaw that are on the death row to join the SG-1 and repair The Sentinel. Will they succeed to make The Sentinel work again?

"The Sentinel" is a conventional episode of "Stargate SG-1" with a conclusion with the redemption of the rogue NID military members. There is nothing special in this episode but the action. My vote is seven.

We didn't break this, I swear

An interesting connection to an earlier storyline that worked well, the plot of this episode was interesting. Resolution came rather swift and open ended.

If it ain't broken... fix it anyway.

The plot revolves around SG1 going to a planet called Latona, to repair the Sentinel, a defensive device which their predecessors unknowingly messed with --allowing the Goa'uld to invade the now-defenseless (and *really* clueless) world.

Once again, the series manages to bring back some old characters (from O'Neill's brief stunt as a turncoat) and to settle unfinished business. The dialogue is quick and witty, there is action, some likable characters, and a brand new world to save. But what I really love is how creative, even poetic, the technological puzzles are. (And spectacularly efficient, at that: no reason the Asgaard should be the only ones to kick Goa'uld butts.) There is a nice little message on the relationship between man and the machines here.

continuity error- Grogan
jagriffin8323 May 2008
At the beginning of this episode, Hammond calls over the radio through the gate to his people on the planet. The person that responds is identified as "Sergeant" Grogan. I thought he looked and sounded like one of the guys in "Proving Ground", but I was sure those four were all supposed to be Academy graduates, meaning they would be 2nd Lieutenants. I checked the credits on here and it's the same actor, same character, but on here the character is credited in both episodes as Lt. Grogan. Haven't checked the credits on the actual episode, I'm still in the middle of watching it :) But there's a continuity error- they call him Sgt. but he is a Lt.
