It took him seven years, but he did it!!
owlaurence22 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the episodes that take place entirely on Earth. The plot is divided into two parts which finally get tangled up: on the one hand, we have Osiris manipulating Daniel's dreams in order to get the coordinates of the Lost City --a plot which also allows us to understand what really happened between Daniel and Sarah years ago. It also reminds us that ever since Anubis probed Thor's mind, the Goa'uld have had access to superior Asgaard technology, which is now causing new problems for everyone.

On the other hand, the story follows up Carter's decision to get a life (in Grace). Which is not always easy, even though her current date seems to have a lot of qualities, one which is the ability to think on his feet. As an aside, I must say I just *loved* Carter and O'Neill's conversation in the elevator.

Finally, I raise my glass to Daniel's long-awaited achievement: after seven years of chasing after Goa'uld-ed lovers, he has finally managed to save ONE. And managed to get his brain half-fried in the process *once again*, but I think nobody's counting anymore.

I don't want Samantha to have a boyfriend Warning: Spoilers
This episode could have been great with the story of Osiris trying to probe Daniels mind. But why did they have to add the sleezy story about stupid Pete the cop having an affair with Samantha Carter?

This is Stargate SG-1. It is so great because it does not have silly romantic stories. Buuuh.

Samantha in Love
claudio_carvalho9 March 2018
Samantha dates Pete Shanahan, a cop that is friend of her brother. However she cannot disclose her professional activities since she has a nondisclosure agreement with the SGC. Meanwhile Daniel has strange dreams with Sarah Gardner and Teal´c suspects she is probing his mind to find the location of the Lost City. The SG-1 decides to stake out Danil´s house and out of the blue, Pete arrives affecting Samantha work.

"Chimera" is an episode divided in two segments: Daniel and Sarah is engaging, with the Goaul´d luring Daniel Jackson to get classified information. However the romance of Samantha and Pete is silly with a ridiculous conclusion. In addition Amanda Tapping is out of David DeLuise league. My vote is eight.

A decent storyline concept though a bit swift with the resolution as always. The Sam subplot was a nice change of pace for her usually forays into the dating pool.

Half good means 5

Personally, I prefer Sam with Jack. However, I didn't mind the Tollan, the Tok'ra or the Ancient "boyfriends.". But David Deluise/Pete Shanahan is going too far. Bad actor, stupid character. No way Sam would fall for this guy. Blah.

So I gave this episode a 5 because half of it is good. Daniel finally deals with his former girlfriend-turned-Goa'uld Sarah/Osiris.

Just fast-forward through the extremely awkward "romantic" parts.

Down With Pete
fcabanski16 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The half of the episode involving Daniel Jackson and Osiris is a solid 7. But there wasn't enough of that for a whole episode. So they pasted on another half, which was Sam and her relationship with boring Pete, played by David Deluise.

David may be a good director, but he's not a good actor. He has a way of portraying a character and delivering a line that creates absolute disinterest. The relationship between Sam and Pete is best left for far far far off screen. Keep Pete there too.

Meanwhile, Osiris is probing Daniel's dreams for the location of the Ancient's Lost City. That's interesting. Daniel and SG-1 capture Osiris and remove him (the symbiote) from Sarah Gardner.

Other than removing Osiris from the picture, the episode doesn't much further the ongoing Goa'uld plot.

Pete gets involved in the fire fight as they capture Osiris. He's hit by shrapnel or by Osiris' weapon. I rooted for the character to die.

Unfortunately, Pete will return.

Go away Pete!
