Night Caller opens with visions of a murder underneath the main credits before Clementine an operator for Jade Mei’s gets a call from the man she saw in the visions before he commits the crime for real.
And that murder serves notice to viewers that this isn’t going to be a Scream or Blumhouse style mainstream horror film. There are repeated gory closeups of a large knife entering the victim’s body. A shift of camera angle to some not so explicit shots that suggest the knife is getting shoved somewhere else. And the ranting killer taking the somehow still living woman’s scalp as a souvenir.

Paris-based sales agent WTFilms, which specializes in genre movies, is presenting Romain Quirot’s sophomore feature film, “Apache: Gang of Paris,” at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris.
The pic is an ambitious revenge movie set in early 20th century Paris, when rival gangs were wreaking havoc. The term apache was coined in Paris at the time, to describe street gangs. “It’s a modern stylish and raw revenge movie,” says WTFilms’ Gregory Chambet. “We hope it will offer a renewal of the French action thriller genre, as Christophe Gans did with ‘Brotherhood of the Wolves’.”
Quirot’s freshman pic, cosmic road movie “The Last Journey,” starring Jean Reno, won Best Film at Sitges in 2020.
WTFilms’ slate also includes Quentin Dupieux’s “Incredible but True,” that follows on from his Venice-playing giant fly comedy, “Mandibles,” that starred French comedy duo Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais.

Let’s face it… Special Makeup FX are the backbone of the horror genre. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Dewan and her boobs have nabbed the lead role in a motion picture adaptation of Top Cow's top heavy comic Magdalena. Dewan will star as Patience, a very attractive young woman who discovers she's the next in a line of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene that fight the forces of evil.
