Sound on Sight undertook a massive project, compiling ranked lists of the most influential, unforgettable, and exciting action scenes in all of cinema. There were hundreds of nominees spread across ten different categories and a multi-week voting process from 11 of our writers. The results: 100 essential set pieces, sequences, and scenes from blockbusters to cult classics to arthouse obscurities.
Part 2 of 10: A good car chase works for completely different reasons than its bipedal counterpart. Where a foot chase is more intimate, desperate, and rough, car chases are cool, exciting, almost romantic. Here the journey overwhelms destination: tough guys (and girls) driving sleek machines at impossible speeds. And unlike foot chases, there are no real limitations on where they can go or what they can do—sometimes cars can even fly.

I'm one of those guys that don't watch the Super Bowl for the game. I watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and movie spots, and there were a lot of great commercials this year! Companies spent a combined $359 million on advertising during this year's Super Bowl, with each 30-second spot estimated to cost about $4.5 million.
A few of my favorite commercials included the ones for Skittles, Snickers, Liam Neeson's amazing Clash of Clans spot, and of course Esurance's "Say May Name" commercial with Bryan Cranston reprising his role as Walter White. Even though there were a lot of great commercials, there were some bad ones sprinkled in there as well, like Kim Kardashian's T-Mobile commercial and Nationwide's "Make Safe Happen," which caused a lot of controversy.
What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial this year?
Clash of Clans, "Revenge"
Skittles, "Settle It"
Esurance, "Say My Name"

The time is night for the Super Bowl, where every year advertisers pony up big bucks (nowadays, north of $4 million per 30-second spot) to wave their wares in front of 100 million viewers.
Who drafted big stars to shill? Who went for laughs? Who tugged at heartstrings? And who went out of their way to remind us with a sledgehammer, “Sex sells”?
Read our quick take on many of the commercials from Super Bowl Xlix, and then share your own reviews in Comments.

While he perhaps isn't at the Liam Neeson action star level anymore, Pierce Brosnan can still hold his own when it comes to the genre. He was my favorite Bond actor until Daniel Craig came around, and if you haven't seen The Matador, it’s one of his best pieces of work. Leave it to a Super Bowl ad to remind us of just how awesome he is too. Kia's new extended commercial is called "The Perfect Getaway", in which Pierce Brosnan is being...

Some movies you just want to punch in the face.
There’s a big difference between a movie you don’t care for and a movie that is truly appalling.
You forget the movies you don’t care for. You never forget the ones you actively despise.
Some you see coming from a mile away (Oh look, its Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Hi. How ya doin’?) while others sneak in and, with the help of a great trailer or a normally reliable star, fool you into thinking it might be worthwhile.
So with the Oscar race taking a holiday pause, I thought we’d take a break ourselves from talking about the really good films of the year. Instead, let's spend some time punching five of 2012’s most excruciatingly poor films in their smug, entitled pie-holes. Sounds fun to me. Be advised, there are spoilers ahead.

The Expendables 2 rolled into theatres this past weekend, topping the Us box office with an estimated $28.75m. We heard last week that Nicolas Cage, Clint Eastwood, and Harrison Ford are amongst the early names being sought after for The Expendables 3, and now word comes of an all-female take on Stallone’s action blockbuster.
Variety report that Adi Shankar, executive producer on The Grey, Killing Them Softly, and Dredd 3D, will produce for his banner, 1984 Private Defense Contractors, which will fully finance the film, and that talks are already underway with a number of prominent actresses, with screenwriter Dutch Southern hired to pen the script.
As yet, there’s no word on who could be starring in the film, but if they’re aiming for anything like The Expendables and its sequel/s, it’s going to be one hell of an all-star cast.
For now, we can only speculate,...

All the hype surrounding the upcoming Saif Ali Khan starrer Agent Vinod seems justified after the trailer and first look of the film left audiences and critics very very intrigued. The music of the film has also been doing the rounds and getting good buzz. Leading the way is another Pritam creation – ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’. The song sees the irrepressible Kareena Kapoor shake those hips to some tantalizing beats along with another eye candy Maryam Zakaria.
Pritam himself is quite proud of this one and has rated it as one of the best songs in the film. “‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’ is in keeping with the theme of the film. Naturally I can’t reveal much but its thriller and that’s for everyone to see. The film has quite a few secrets that will be revealed and the way Kareena is shot clearly tells you that she has some hidden intentions.

Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia?”
More on Wish You Were Here:
Wish You Were Here…was recently confirmed as an opening film of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival (in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition).
The screenplay was co-written by Darcy-Smith and actress Felicity Price, who also stars in this as Alice.
For some reason, this film reminds me of The Perfect Getaway.

Milla Jovovich has admitted to suffering nightmares about zombies since joining the Resident Evil franchise. The Perfect Getaway star, who has appeared in four instalments of the horror series since 2002, shared her surprise at how the relatively "normal" movie-making experience had managed to affect her subconscious. "I have a lot of zombie nightmares," she told the Mail on Sunday. "Work has permeated my consciousness. I don't even like scary movies, but I've lived for ten years inside this world of horror images." Detailing the dreams, she continued: "I'm being chased, they're closing in on me. It's weird, because the actual making of the movies is very normal. The zombies are on set drinking coffee, having a cigarette and chatting. It's so banal. Then I close my eyes (more)...

Briefly: A package is now going around Hollywood to reboot James Patterson's Alex Cross franchise with Tyler Perry as the lead and Rob Cohen directing, I, Alex Cross. The character was previously played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Read more after the jump. Deadline broke [1] the story in a brief article Monday night. They said that Qed International, which helped put together The Perfect Getaway, W. and District 9, are beginning to shop the package around town. I imagine with Tyler Perry attached to an extremely popular book series, this will get scooped up quickly. Here's the Publisher's Weekly review thanks to Amazon. Bestseller Patterson offers nothing new on a theme he himself has already done to death in his 16th novel featuring detective Alex Cross (after Cross Country), in which Cross takes on yet another barbaric serial killer, this one known as Zeus.

The title "Alien Sleeper Cell" conjures up a very specific scenario. Aliens pass for humans and live among us until, triggered by a cataclysmic event, they rise up to take over the humans. Which, actually, sounds a lot like the ABC show V. That's probably a good thing because any image that title brings to mind is more evocative than the actual information that's out there for the new project Alien Sleeper Cell. Concerning "otherworldly beasties" the film is currently in development based on an idea by producer Felipe Linz. It'll be written by former editor Morgan Davis Foehl and produced by Adrian Askarieh and Bill Block, who produced District 9. Read more about the parties involved after the jump. Variety broke the story [1] about this project and focused on the fact that Block and Akrarieh seem to be developing this project outside the studio system. Money has been raised...

“Tron: Legacy” is one of the most anticipated sci-fi sequels of the decade, so there’s obviously going to be a gazillion related articles on The Grid for you to sift through—certainly a daunting task for anyone who might not be a computer genius with “Flynn” as their surname.
But we here at NextMovie want to help you out by compiling the coolest ones in one place so you don’t have to overload your identity disc searching for them. Seriously, where else can you find Playboy models bearing “Tron”-themed body paint, ogle Olivia Wilde looking hotter than ever or find out what rising star Garrett Hedlund has to say about his Twitter imposter?
Don’t worry, you can thank us later but be sure to check out the links now from our “12 Days of Tron” promotion. End of line.

It's been two years since "The Wire," ran its course over on HBO, and four years now, since the cable network prematurely pulled the plug on "Deadwood." Inarguably the best two ensemble dramas on television over the last decade, most of us probably assumed that the individual members of each brilliant cast would go on to well-deserved success. Unfortunately, for the most part, these actors returned from whence they came: They are solid character actors that elevate almost everything they're in (save, perhaps, for Dominic West, whose flaws have been exposed outside the world of Baltimore). Several years after the fact, many of these cast members are still referred to by their character roles in their respective series.

“It was a difficult challenge I think at first, just because I had never done something like that,” actress Kiele Sanchez told Dread Central of her casting as ‘Stella Oleson’ last November during the principle photography of 30 Days of Night: Dark Days in Vancouver, Canada.
Bundled in a cold warehouse in Terminal City on the set of director Ben Ketai’s sequel to 2007’s hit 30 Days of Night (the sequel Dark Days bows direct-to-video from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on October 5), The Perfect Getaway actress was thoughtful regarding her assumption of the film’s lead character, as originally essayed by Melissa George, and spent time waxing on that as well as the other challenges inherent in portraying the character.
“I think that in the first graphic novel Stella starts off as so different (from the sequel) that it gave me a lot of freedom to sort of do it my own way,...
