Eugene Levy shares that retirement may be right around the corner for him. The Schitt’s Creek star confessed that he has taken the time to reflect and reconsider how much time he wants to spend in Hollywood before stepping out of the limelight. “I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy, 77, told The Independent. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.” The comedian and actor has had an extensive and successful career spanning decades. From playing Jason Biggs‘ dad in the American Pie franchise to portraying Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, Levy shared that he has always taken jobs that excite him, and he has no plans to stop doing that now. “I’ll take on jobs that I find really interesting, and jobs...

The premise of The Reluctant Traveler is a simple one. There’s a traveler and he’s reluctant, you see. But’s he’s also much more than that.
That’s because the titular reluctant traveler in this Apple TV+ docuseries is none other than comedy legend Eugene Levy. Levy’s prolific career has spanned decades – from his time on the Canadian sketch series Sctv to his many roles in Christopher Guest’s collection of mockumentaries to his most recent Emmy award-winning portrayal of Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, the sitcom created by his son Dan Levy. Through all of these onscreen adventures, however, Levy never quite caught the travel bug. The Reluctant Traveler season 1 sought to rectify that by forcing him into locales like Costa Rica, Italy, Japan, and more.
The Reluctant Traveler season 2 keeps that same format in place, albeit with some tweaks. Instead of spanning the globe this time around,...

American Pie is one of those cult classic movies that anyone who grew up in the 1990s has probably seen — many times. It was known for its humor and certainly catered to a more adult audience, but it was loaded with characters that nobody could ever forget.
While it’s been nearly 25 years since the movie was released, some of the actors have remained household names. Where is the American Pie cast today?

Jason Biggs was the film’s main star, and he went on to act in movies far beyond American Pie. There have been plenty of film sequels, and he starred in the first four movies, up until 2012. He appeared in films including Eight Below and My Best Friend’s Girl, the latter of which is where he met his now-wife, Jenny Mollen. Today, Biggs is worth about $20 million,...

Eugene Levy has had many iconic roles throughout his career, but he seems a little relieved that the films he gets recognized for the most has changed over the years.
For decades, the Cheaper by the Dozen 2 actor was known for playing Jim’s dad in American Pie, a movie where four teenage boys enter a pact before graduation with the goal to lose their virginity by prom night. In the 1999 film, he catches his character’s son (Jason Biggs as Jim) in quite a sexual situation involving an apple pie.
But in a recent interview with The Guardian, published online Sunday, Levy explained that “The American Pie thing got a bit tedious. People would bring me apple pie every time I went into a restaurant or to a wedding. Which is kind of funny, but it did happen a lot.”

Eugene Levy is recalling the mockumentary films he did with Christopher Guest. The Canadian actor shared that he recently reunited with the cast of A Mighty Wind to celebrate its 20th anniversary and in a new interview, Levy says that those films are likely done.
“Our last one was For Your Consideration back in 2006,” Levy told The Guardian. “Our fake documentaries — Chris [Guest] always hated the term ‘mockumentary’ because we’re not mocking, it’s more affectionate than that — but they were getting a little cookie-cutter in terms of story. Everything was kind of the same, except we just changed the subject. At a certain point, that becomes predictable. In the interim, so many television shows have picked up that form and just destroyed it.”
Levy also shared that he is thankful that he is no longer recognized for American Pie after the success of Schitt’s Creek.
“All over the world.

Despite his objections, Eugene Levy is a thousand feet or so above the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, with only his debilitating fear of heights to comfort him.
Whereas most people who seek out an aerial tour of one of the world’s great natural wonders would be taking in the sights, Levy hasn’t opened his eyes since the chopper took off — and he’d like to keep it that way.
How the celebrated character actor got here, on “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” is, like most of his greatest roles, a funny story.
In 2020, Levy closed the book on the tremendous success of “Schitt’s Creek,” the riches-to-rags story he co-created and starred in with his son, Dan Levy. His daughter, Sarah, also had a role. The series ended its six-season run with a record-breaking sweep of the Emmy Awards that year, earning Levy his first-ever acting Emmy.

Schitt’s Creek introduced a whole new generation to Eugene Levy. He’d been a comedy legend since Second City and its ‘80s variety show Sctv. Plus, Levy always popped up in memorable roles in movies, like Jim’s Dad in the American Pie series. Levy admits Schitt’s Creek was nerve-wracking, but his new show, The Reluctant Traveler is even more so.

Eugene Levy has been known to play well-meaning, offbeat, and often flustered supporting characters throughout his career. Whether he's a featured player or part of the ensemble, the veteran Canadian actor has stolen scenes left and right with his impeccable timing, earnest delivery, and trademark eyebrows. But following his stint on the fan-favorite series "Schitt's Creek," it seems like the theme of this era for him is stepping out of his comfort zone, which is also a huge aspect of his new show, "The Reluctant Traveller."
As part of the Television Critics Association Winter press tour, Levy appeared on a panel attended by /Film's Vanessa Armstrong to promote the upcoming Apple TV+ travel show. The eight-episode series will take the award-winning actor around the world to experience once-in-a-lifetime adventures with new friends, gorgeous scenery, and mouth-watering food, despite the fact that he normally wouldn't do any of these things if left to his own devices.

Eugene Levy is ready to hit the road. Apple TV+ announced today that its Levy-hosted show The Reluctant Traveler will premiere globally on February 24, 2023.
The eight-episode series follows the Schitt’s Creek star as he visits destinations in Costa Rica, Finland, Italy, Japan, Maldives, Portugal, South Africa and the United States.
Levy is a self-confessed, non-adventurous type, but apparently agreed to broaden his horizons for the show. The Reluctant Traveler is produced for Apple TV+ by Twofour. In addition to starring, Levy executive produces alongside David Brindley.
Levy won an Emmy in 2020 for his role as Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek.
The Reluctant Traveler joins a growing lineup of docuseries on Apple TV+, including The Big Conn about the biggest social security fraud in history; Prehistoric Planet featuring Oscar-nominated narrator Sir David Attenborough; and Make or Break, which is the World Surf League docuseries.

England and America are two countries separated by a common language but – as George Bernard Shaw would doubtless have added if he’d had a Sky TV package in the 1990s – joined by a common love of The Simpsons. Homer and co. are universal. It doesn’t matter if you buy your groceries at Walmart or do your big shop at Asda, The Simpsons speaks to us all.
Every so often though, what The Simpsons speaks to UK viewers is momentarily baffling – a reminder that wherever Springfield is, it’s not where we’re from. Eugene Levy is set to become The Reluctant Traveler for Apple TV+.
The Schitt’s Creek star is to host and exec produce the series, which comes from ITV-owned British production company Twofour.
Levy, who won an Emmy last year for his role as Johnny Rose in the Canadian sitcom, will visit some of the world’s most remarkable hotels, as well as explore the people, places and cultures that surround them in the series.

Twofour’s creative director David Brindley, a former BBC commissioner who joined The Jump producer in 2019 after Melanie Leach and Andrew Mackenzie left the company to start their own production company, will exec produce alongside Levy.

Given the title is basically a Schitt pun, it’s perhaps surprising that Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek is one of the sweetest most nuanced shows around. Written by and starring father and son Eugene and Dan Levy it follows the Rose family, once extremely affluent, now entirely bankrupt after a tax scandal. The only asset they are allowed to retain is the town of Schitt’s Creek, which Johnny Rose bought for his son David as a joke.

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best Actor In A TV Series (Comedy Or Musical)
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
While Catherine O’Hara appears on track to win a Golden Globe for “Schitt’s Creek,” Eugene Levy must face the “Ted Lasso” express. And star Jason Sudeikis has the ticket. Apple TV Plus is doing a tremendous job promoting “Ted Lasso” as a top awards contender, and in many ways it’s this year’s feel good vehicle in the way that “Schitt’s Creek” was during the last awards cycle. As the heart of “Ted Lasso,” Sudeikis may be hard to beat — especially if, again, the HFPA wants to get in and honor him before the Emmys. (Levy will have his Emmy from September to give him plenty of solace.

“Schitt’s Creek” swept the Primetime Emmys for the show’s farewell season. Series star and co-creator Eugene Levy scored two wins for Comedy Series and Comedy Actor as part of the awards haul. So it may come as a surprise to many that Levy’s recent Golden Globe nomination for Comedy/Musical Actor is his first ever mention from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Can the veteran performer continue his winning streak for playing Johnny Rose?
At the upcoming Golden Globes, Levy is nominated for Comedy/Musical Actor alongside Don Cheadle (“Black Monday”), Nicholas Hoult (“The Great”), Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) and Ramy Youssef (“Ramy”). Holt and Sudeikis are also first-time Globe nominees, while Cheadle and Youssef are both past winners.

It finally happened. After a career full of egregious (and possibly cruel) snubs, Catherine O’Hara has been nominated by the Golden Globes. Her bid arrives at the perfect time, as she’s just coming off an Emmy victory for playing Moira Rose in the final season of Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek.” Does this nom make up for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association overlooking the veteran actress for her iconic roles in “A Mighty Wind,” “Best in Show,” “Home Alone” and “Temple Grandin,” among others? Not necessarily, but as Moira might proclaim, “One must champion oneself and say, ‘I am ready for this!'”

At the upcoming Golden Globes, O’Hara faces off against Lily Collins (“Emily in Paris”), Kaley Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”), Elle Fanning (“The Great”) and Jane Levy (“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”) in the race for Best TV Comedy Actress.

Last year, “Schitt’s Creek” went from the Odd Little Canadian Show That Was Just Happy to Be Nominated in 2019 to History-Making Comedy Series when it walked away with every single comedy award at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, including the shiny gold statuettes for writing and directing. It was the first time in history that a comedy or a drama series had swept all seven categories, a feat that isn’t likely to be repeated, at least not very soon. Now the Pop TV show, which aired its final season last spring, is nominated for five awards at the upcoming Critics’ Choice Television Awards, which will be held March 7, and some are wondering if the series has enough momentum left to pull off another sweep.

Of the 11 Golden Globe Awards handed out on the television side, four will go to male actors who made a splash in the 2020 calendar year. Per Gold Derby odds, two trophies will be given to performers who appear in brand new programs, a staple of the Hollywood Foreign Press: Matthew Rhys in drama series “Perry Mason” and Mark Ruffalo in limited series “I Know This Much Is True.” The other pair of trophies are forecasted for father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who will buck the “new show” trend and prevail on their sixth (and final) season of “Schitt’s Creek.” Do you agree or disagree with these Golden Globe predictions? You have until February 3 to make your own picks.

Photo: 'Schitt's Creek'/Netflix Meet the Rose family; a businessman who lost everything to tax fraud, a highly strung former soap opera star, a spoiled socialite, and a thirty-four-year old son who doesn’t understand how credit cards work. When the Roses lose everything, they are forced to relocate to a small town that Johnny Rose once bought his son a joke; a truck-stop of a town named Schitt’s Creek. From the premise alone, the openings for comedy are endless. We are promised infinite amounts of schadenfreude, watching these formerly privileged members of the one percent struggle as they attempt to survive amongst the ranks of ‘regular people’. From Moira’s unending wig collection to Alexis’s never-ending accounts of various kidnappings, we settle in for some satisfying, if fictional, humiliation of the upper classes that hold so much sway over the real world we live in.

At this year’s Golden Globes, a strange oversight could finally be corrected. According to Gold Derby’s predictions, Catherine O’Hara will win Best TV Comedy Actress for the final season of Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek.” If true, it’d be a special achievement indeed for the veteran actress, as the Globes have never nominated her for anything. Not for her iconic roles in film comedies “A Mighty Wind,” “Best in Show” and “Home Alone,” not for her TV turn in “Temple Grandin,” and not for any prior season of “Schitt’s Creek.”
O’Hara recently wrapped up her six-season stint as Moira Rose, a selfish soap opera star who lost everything and was forced to live the simple life. Through the years Moira grew into a much more compassionate figure before our eyes, and it’s all thanks to the guileless townsfolk of “Schitt’s Creek.” The Canadian series ended...

The Schitt's Creek cast's love for one another knows no bounds and that was particularly evident in the picture Annie Murphy chose for onscreen father Eugene Levy as part of an Instagram tribute posted on Dec. 17 for the actor's 74th birthday. Annie captioned the post, "The number of pierogis and bacon bits in the containers this man was taking so he could have 'a nice little dinner later' doesn't even come close to representing how much I love him. Happy birthday, my sweet Euge." It seems that Eugene might actually be Johnny Rose after all, as taking a few extra pierogis for a nice little dinner later feels like something he would absolutely do. We just wonder what David, Moira, and Alexis might think of it. Then again, David was all about having Patrick gather him a few extra sliders at a barbecue.

Update: Although Netflix said that the sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek would be available to stream in the US and Canada on Oct. 7, the streaming giant surprised fans by releasing the installment four days early on Oct. 3! The documentary Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell also dropped on the same day, so we've got some binging to do. Dan Levy shared the news on Twitter, writing, "Surprise! Season 6 & the Best Wishes, Warmest Regards documentary just dropped early on @netflix @Netflix_CA! Have a great weekend!"
Original post: We're only a couple months out from the TV premiere of Schitt's Creek's final season, but when will season six arrive on Netflix? The beloved sitcom took off exponentially thanks to its growing popularity on Netflix, but for fans who watch the comedy solely on streaming, they'll have to wait a little longer for that final batch of episodes.

Ohmygod! The motel featured in the Emmy-winning comedy “Schitt’s Creek” is going up for sale next month, its owner says.
Jesse Tipping, the owner of the real-life Rosebud Motel in Hockley Valley, Ontario, told CTV News that he will be listing the eight-acre property and its motel, which features eight apartment-style rooms and a three-bedroom unit. The property, which includes a horse stable, sits along the Nottawasaga River about 55 miles northwest of Toronto.
In addition to its starring role over six seasons of Dan Levy’s “Schitt’s Creek,” the property was used as a set for the 2005 Viggo Mortensen thriller “A History of Violence” and more recently the TV shows “11.22.63” and “The Umbrella Academy.” Tipping purchased the property in 2011 knowing it was been used in productions and listed in filming databases.

Eugene Levy received his first Emmy Award for acting on Sunday. At the virtual 72nd annual Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Levy landed the outstanding lead actor in a comedy series honor for his work as the hard-working Rose patriarch Johnny Rose on Schitt’s Creek.
“I guess it’s kind ironic that the straightest role I’ve ever played lands me an Emmy for a comedy series” Levy said upon receiving the prize during the virtual ceremony. “I guess I have to question what I’ve been doing for the past 50 years.”
In Schitt’s Creek, Levy stars alongside son Dan Levy, Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy as members of the disenfranchised Rose family.
During his acceptance speech, Levy thanked the Schitt’s Creek team, from the writers and directors behind the show to his friend Catherine O’hara, who he said “can make anyone she works with look good.” The...

Though he has worked in entertainment for decades and won two Emmys for writing “Sctv,” Eugene Levy was never Emmy nominated for his acting until last year. But now he’s making up for lost time. The performer returns to the Best Comedy Lead Actor race this year for playing Johnny Rose on Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek.” Will the final season of this beloved comedy land Levy an acting win? Levy has submitted the Season 6 episode “The Pitch” for Emmy consideration.
In this episode, Johnny flies to New York City with Stevie (Emily Hampshire) and Roland (Chris Elliott) to pitch their idea for a boutique chain of motels to investors. The meeting goes south quickly. Johnny’s former associate is a no-show, so the meeting happens in a boardroom full of strangers. Two of the board members make jabs at Johnny’s fall from grace. Roland spills water everywhere.

Will “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy pull a Phoebe Waller-Bridge at this year’s Emmys? Last year the “Fleabag” star won awards for writing, producing and acting in the British comedy. Levy could win in the same three fields when the awards are presented virtually in September. And actually, he could win one more since he’s up for directing too.

As a kid obsessed with not just television, but also the business of television, I was enamored with “Sctv Network” from the first time I saw it. Not only was it wickedly sharp — even to an 8-year-old — but its depiction of a faux television network, and the eccentric characters who ran it — stuck with me. Of course I didn’t know it at the time, but I was also watching a cast of comedy stars who would become iconic, and go on to write, produce and star in so many memorable and hit movies and TV shows.
While “Saturday Night Live” was already an institution in the early 1980s, I know I’m not the only one who felt an even more personal attachment to “Sctv” and its stars, including John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Dave Thomas and Eugene Levy. The show actually had multiple iterations,...

Yes, Eugene Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”) currently leads Gold Derby’s Emmy predictions for Best Comedy Actor, but this race is no laughing matter. Recent Golden Globe champion Ramy Youssef (“Ramy”) is quickly gaining on Levy in our odds, which are based on the combined picks of our Experts, Editors, Top 24 Users and All Star Users. However, if Youssef hopes to stage an Emmy upset, he’ll first have to overcome one huge hurdle: his show isn’t nominated for Best Comedy Series.

A whopping 24 of Gold Derby’s 25 Emmy Experts predict yet another nomination this year for Ted Danson (“The Good Place”) in Best Comedy Actor. We are not worthy of the heaven-sent gift that is Catherine O'Hara, and yet here she is, blessing us with some glorious content to brighten our week. On Wednesday evening, the Schitt's Creek star nabbed the Canadian Screen Award for best lead actress in a comedy series, and she subsequently delivered a socially distanced acceptance speech skit that could make even the most disgruntled pelican crack a smile. Some may say it was "simply the best . . . better than all the rest."

It’s bittersweet to see the Rose family take their bows in the series finale of Schitt’s Creek, mostly because co-creator and showrunner Dan Levy ended the story on his own terms. As he told Variety, following their two-year renewal at the end of season 4, he started plotting out the ending: “I at no point wanted to compromise on quality or storytelling. It just didn’t feel like it was worth the risk to take it any further.”
It’s an admirable route, similar to how Michael Shur wrapped up The Good Place, but it means we have to say goodbye to one of TV’s greatest families: prickly and warm, ribbing each other as often as they support one another, the Roses were a class act. The series also introduced viewers to most of the cast—barring legendary character actors Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara—who were formerly unknowns.

Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara have been collaborating for more than 40 years, first at Second City, the comedy theater troupe that evolved into the sketch television show “Sctv.” Between 1996 and 2006, they shared the screen in four Christopher Guest comedies — “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind” and “For Your Consideration” — each co-written by Guest and Levy.
Since 2015, O’Hara and Levy have played Johnny and Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” as the patriarch and matriarch of a wealthy family forced to relocate after losing their fortune. Over lunch in late February to discuss the sitcom’s final season, the duo quoted liberally from their joint repertoire of work, frequently making each other laugh.
After the meal ended and Levy and O’Hara left the restaurant, a couple at the next table asked whether they were married in real life, and seemed disappointed to hear that they’re not.

Fans of the cult-fave comedy Schitt's Creek know Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara as beleaguered former video store mogul Johnny Rose and his delightfully dramatic wife, Moira Rose. The CBC/Pop comedy isn't the first time the duo have worked together, though. They've worked together since the 1970s (when they met as young comedians) and starred opposite each other in multiple movies, including Best in Show and For Your Consideration.
Schitt's Creek is officially coming to an end after its sixth season in April, but it won't be the end of Eugene and Catherine's work relationship. The two are currently working on an animated short titled The Beast, Heroes of the Wildfire. It's a sweet continuation of a decades-long friendship - check out some of their best moments together in the gallery ahead!

We love seeing the tight-knit bond between the cast of Schitt's Creek. Unlike on the show, the crew seem like one big, happy family in real life, and that's probably because they pretty much are. For those who don't know, Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose) is Dan (David Rose) and Sarah Levy's (Twyla Sands) father. Dan was born on Aug. 9, 1983, while Sarah's birthday is on Sept. 10, 1986, making them three years apart. Their mother is writer Deborah Divine, though she doesn't appear on the show. When asked what it was like working with his kids on the show, Eugene told The Canadian Press that it was "strange" but "exciting" at the same time. Sadly, Schitt's Creek is coming to an end after its sixth season in April, but at least we'll always have these cute photos of the Levy family to remember it by.
