X-Men ’97 showrunner Beau DeMayo was let go from his position in the series after prematurely completing season 2 of the show. DeMayo’s firing occurred just a week before the show’s first season premiered on Disney+. DeMayo has been actively promoting the series, which has been receiving positive reviews all over. However, he may not be reinstated like James Gunn, who was fired for controversial tweets before the filming began for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo’s reinstatement is highly unlikely
Fans believe that the mysterious circumstances surrounding DeMayo’s firing meant that he was into something so bad that neither Disney nor the showrunner cared to reveal it. DeMayo shared that he was more than the showrunner/writer of the show, claiming that he was the main creative lead of the series.

“Before seed oils were invented, everybody was hot and healthy,” reads the first sentence of an Aug. 21 tweet by Carnivore Aurelius, a Twitter account with more than 300,000 followers. The tweet cites statistics claiming to link consumption of seed oils to an increase in obesity and cardiovascular disease rates, embedding a photo of a crowd of people at Atlantic City Beach in 1908 (who indeed do look hot, but more in the literal sense, considering most of them are wearing woolen bathing suits).

“FBI is now killing all online critics of Biden,” Ali Alexander, organizer of “Stop the Steal” protests that fueled the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, announced on his Telegram account on Wednesday. “This is all by design.”
This alarming claim was prompted by the death of Craig Deleeuw Robertson, 75, in an FBI raid on his Provo, Utah residence early that morning. According to a criminal complaint from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Robertson was to be charged with interstate threats, impeding federal law enforcement officers by threat, and making threats against the president...

San Francisco, Dec 14 (Ians) Anti-lgbtq slurs have increased on Twitter since Elon Musk took over as CEO, despite his claims and actions to the contrary, including disbanding Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council, a new report has shown.
According to Media Matters for America and GLAAD, the retweets of tweets by right-wing figures include the anti-lgbtq “groomer” slur, as tweets containing the slur mention right-wing figures.
The researchers looked at nine popular right-wing accounts which include Tim Pool, Jack Posobiec, Jake Shield, Gays Against Groomers, Blaire White, Allie Beth Stuckey, Andy Ngo, Seth Dillon, and Mike Cernovich to chart their use of the anti-lgbtq slur “groomer”.
Overall, these accounts saw a 1,200 per cent uptick in tweets or retweets that used the slur, an increase of 3,600 instances to 48,000.
Libs of TikTok, another right-wing account, experienced a 600 per cent increase in mentions, ranging from nearly 2,000 to nearly 14,000, while Rep. Mayra Flores (R-tx...

A baseless conspiracy theory about the assault of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi trended on Twitter Monday morning after being boosted all weekend by prominent conservatives and even new Twitter owner Elon Musk.

Across the right-wing American landscape, pundits, politicians and influencers are extremely pleased by the results of Sunday’s elections in Italy. That’s because the country has thrown substantial support behind the Brothers of Italy, a party with roots in post-World War II fascism, led by Giorgia Meloni, who is poised to become the first woman prime minister in the nation’s history.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Monday questioned the media focus on Gabby Petito after remains consistent with her description were found. Using a term coined by the late journalist Gwen Ifill, Reid dubbed it “missing white woman syndrome.”
“The way this story has captivated the nation has many wondering: Why not the same media attention when people of color go missing? Well, the answer actually has a name: Missing woman syndrome,” she said on “The Reid Out.”
Reid cited other instances of the so-called syndrome, including the media attention on the cases of Natalie Holloway and Laci Peterson, before being joined by Derica Wilson of the Black and Missing Foundation and Lynette Grey Bull of Not Our Native Daughters.
Online, there was backlash to Reid’s assessment, but there was also support as viewers shared reports that highlight how many missing persons reports have been about Native American women or women of color.

“White Noise” director Daniel Lombroso’s interest in the alt-right started in 2016, five months before Donald’s Trump’s election. Working as a reporter for The Atlantic magazine, he spent three years in the field, starting his research on Reddit and 4chan before gaining the trust of three of the movement’s brightest stars: Richard Spencer, organizer of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville; social media personality Mike Cernovich; and Canadian activist Lauren Southern.
“It was a slow process,” says Lombroso. “People had this idea that Trump had radical supporters, but no one had defined it. I was 23 years old at the time and I saw people my age [that were] really energized by this candidate that no one expected to win. I started with the profile of Richard Spencer and caught a room full of people doing Nazi salutes [at a conference in Washington], which went viral. It clarified that it was fundamentally a white nationalism movement.

Rabbit holes have been on Daniel Lombroso’s mind during the last four years. Perhaps they’ve been there longer since his awareness of the alt-right predates his work on the new documentary White Noise. Yet ever since a fateful day in 2016, when he pointed a camera at a band of young white American men offering up their arms in a Nazi salute, he’s thoroughly explored one of the darkest rabbit holes in 21st century Western culture—and he’s shined a light on how so many got there, only to spread more hate out of it.
A perfect example comes midway through White Noise. Using what Lombroso cites as a strong tool for any cinema vérité documentarian, the montage, he tracks how one of the movie’s primary subjects, alt-right personality Mike Cernovich, spent the final months of the 2016 presidential campaign tweeting across the internet an erroneous smear about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Half a decade ago, the ascendance of the alt-right was about as plausible as the election of Donald Trump, and we all know how that worked out. Like the 2016 election, director Daniel Lombroso’s provocative alt-right portrait “White Noise” isn’t all that surprising, but that doesn’t lessen the terror within. In capturing the racist trifecta of alt-right pundits Mike Cernovich, Laura Southern, and Richard Spencer, the documentary shows how they became emboldened by celebrity stature, and comes so close to letting them run the show it risks trumpeting their cause. Fortunately, it doesn’t take the most discerning bullshit detector to realize that “White Noise” has been engineered to expose a fundamental danger to whatever moral fabric America has left.
However, for the lucky few who somehow avoided any of this movie’s subjects and their small armies of white nationalist devotees, “White Noise” provides a handy primer...

Mere hours after the President of the United States turned an opportunity to denounce the rise of white supremacist thinking in America into a chance to tell a hate group to “stand back and standby,” a new look at an upcoming documentary aims to shed some light on the very people most thrilled by the possibility of a white supremacist government: the alt-right. In “White Noise,” directed and shot by Daniel Lombroso in his directorial debut, viewers will go inside a spreading movement, bolstered by social media’s reach and a cadre of outspoken “leaders” who think nothing of spewing hate to anyone who will listen.
The film is also The Atlantic’s first feature documentary and is billed as the “definitive inside story of the movement that has come to be known as the alt-right.” Lombroso’s film follows three of the movement’s biggest “stars,” including “Mike Cernovich,...

In “White Noise,” Daniel Lombroso’s lively and disturbing documentary portrait of three alt-right influencers, there’s a riveting scene in which Richard Spencer, a rock star of white nationalism who talks like a noodgy corporate assistant and has meticulous gelled hair that’s supposed to be his designer version of a Hitler fade (though Hitler didn’t have James Garner’s sideburns), is getting ready to give a speech at Michigan State University. In the white-cinder-block green room, he goes into a panic when he learns that there’s a riot taking place outside, with hundreds of students protesting his appearance.
You’d think he might welcome the publicity; Steve Bannon certainly would. But Spencer, who is basically an overblown trust-fund kid, is terrified that he’s going to be blamed for another disaster like the one that happened in Charlottesville, Va., when Heather Heyer, who was protesting against...

The Economist deleted and apologized for a tweet in which the magazine appeared to suggest that transgender people should be “sterilized.”
“We deleted an earlier tweet which mischaracterised our article on transgender rights in Japan. Here is that article, which remains unchanged,” the British magazine said in a tweet Tuesday evening.
“The article explores in detail a question that was put to Japan’s Supreme Court. Our tweets often use a line from the articles they link to. We were wrong to use the first line of this article out of its context. Sorry,” they added in an update Wednesday morning.
The original tweet had asked — without context — “Should transgender people be sterilised before they are recognized?”

Mike Cernovich says he isn’t interested in old recordings of Tucker Carlson belittling women or rationalizing statutory rape, as they fall beyond the five-year statute of limitations. That rule, however, doesn’t seem to apply when the topic shifts to Disney’s rehiring of “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn, who was fired after his decade-old tweets joking about pedophilia resurfaced.
“Cernovich has a 5-year statute of limitations on all offensive content,” he said, speaking of himself in third person in a video tweet on Monday. “I won’t listen to Tucker Carlson video because it doesn’t matter, too old.”
“Literally if you commit most crimes other than murder there’s a statute of limitations,” he continued. “If Fox News holds strong and just says we’re just not going to fire Tucker, it’s just over, then it’s a new era. It’s a new era for conservatives.

After a series of meetings with Walt Disney Pictures honcho Alan Horn, fired director James Gunn will return to the Marvel fold.
Gunn has been re-hired to direct the third installment in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, the Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana series about misfits who protect outer-space, an individual familiar with the project told Variety.
Gunn was fired last year following the resurfacing of offensive tweets that made light of child sex abuse. The director apologized for the sentiments, which were resurfaced by conservative talking head Mike Cernovich, but was swiftly chopped by family-friendly Disney over the graphic and immature nature of his comments.

“I’m relieved no actual hate crime against anyone who is black or gay was commited [sic],” Stephen Miller, a right-leaning media critic told TheWrap. “Activists in media and the left don’t seem so relieved. Which is telling.”
“I look forward to Ellen Page’s next appearance on Colbert,” Miller added, referring to the “Juno” star’s recent interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” in which she blamed Vice President Mike Pence for Smollett’s supposed attack.

After breaking up with one of its commentators over an old tweet dripping with cynicism – but also a rape gag – MSNBC has had a change of heart and announced Thursday it has welcomed Sam Seder back with open arms. Days earlier, MSNBC informed political satirist/Majority Report podcaster Seder their relationship was over; this after alt-right Pizzagate promoter Mike Cernovich launched a campaign against Seder over a 2009 tweet in which he mocked those in the film industry…...

MSNBC announced it will sever ties with contributor Sam Seder, citing a resurfaced tweet making light of Roman Polanski’s rape conviction. Seder’s contract was due to expire in February, and the network has no appearances scheduled between now and then, according to initial reports by The Wrap. In a since-deleted tweet from 2009, Seder wrote: “Don’t care re Polanski, but I hope if my daughter is ever raped it is by an older truly talented man w/a great sense of mise en scene.”
“Internally there was disgust over the tweet,” a source at MSNBC told The Wrap.

The tweet was originally brought to the network’s attention by alt-right media personality Mike Cernovich. Seder addressed the controversy on a recent episode of his podcast, “The Majority Report,” titled “I’m Under Attack By the Nazi Alt-Right,...

A GoFundMe campaign for Sam Seder has raised more than $10,000 within a day after TheWrap reported that MSNBC would cut ties with him over a 2009 tweet about rape and Roman Polanski. The tweet — which Seder has said was a joke — was first brought to wide attention last month by the pro-Trump provocateur Mike Cernovich. “MSNBC just caved to Mike Cernovich, an alt right figure immersed in the white supremacy movement and who launched the PizzaGate conspiracy!” wrote Seder, who launched the GoFundMe for himself on Monday. “Cernovich, a defender of rape culture, pressured MSNBC to fire Sam Seder...

MSNBC’s decision to cut ties with contributor Sam Seder in response to an old tweet sparked a strong response from a lot of well known left-wing Twitter users, who say the network capitulated to a bad-faith smear campaign initiated by alt-right figure Mike Cernovich. Joining the fray were many notable names, with even MSNBC host Chris Hayes retweeting someone else’s tweet criticizing the move before himself tweeting: “The entire culture and our politics are now dominated by people who have weaponized bad faith and shamelessness.” Others included in the backlash are Slate political correspondent Jamelle Bouie, Mother Jones Editor-in-chief Clara Jeffrey,...

While conservative provocateur Mike Cernovich is very fond of making fun of triggered liberals, he took a page out of their book Monday, launching a fusillade of tweets and posts against Business Insider Senior Editor and MSNBC Contributor Josh Barro. The crime? A now deleted tweet from Barro mocking Cernovich’s lisp. While Mike Cernovich is, generally speaking, a legitimately terrible human and a conspiracy theorist who peddles thinly sourced news reports to his adoring fan base of alpha-male trolls, he dropped a fascinating tidbit in his latest Medium post. Entitled “Dispatches From Trumpland,” the post continues the far right’s…
