Back in 2021, it was announced that the legendary British horror label Hammer Films was teaming up with the UK’s Network Distributing to form a new company called Hammer Studios Ltd., which would “invest substantially both in restoration and new production development from both its owned and newly created IP”. Sadly, Network Distributing’s managing director Tim Beddows passed away unexpectedly at the age of 59 in 2022 and the company was liquidated. But now Hammer is getting another chance. Variety reports that Hammer Films has been acquired by John Gore, a 20-time Tony, Emmy and Olivier-winning entertainment producer who is known for his live theater company the John Gore Organization. Gore will now lead a new team at Hammer as chair and CEO.
According to Variety, Under Gore’s management, the plan is to invest significantly in Hammer Films to breathe new life into the studio, blending the nostalgic charm...

On a Friday afternoon in August, the lobby of a new apartment complex in the heart of Hollywood is humming. Lucky renters are finalizing leases, tenants are lugging paintings and pillows into the elevator while commiserating over late night clatter caused by postal trucks next door; and a group of friends huddles in a courtyard talking shop. The scene is typical of L.A. apartment living, but the building is anything but.
The seven-story property — named the Cicely Tyson Residential Building after the late icon and located at 1630 Schrader Blvd., near the Hollywood Walk of Fame — houses 151 apartments, all of which soon will be occupied exclusively by artists (defined as someone who has regularly engaged in an artistic, creative or cultural practice and who pursues such practice on a professional basis) and their families.
