Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament ends with Pixar Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter ascending the ladder to cut the net as Inside Out 2 is crowned the most profitable movie of 2024 with a net take of $650M.
It was a year when Disney made a major comeback at the box office, becoming the first studio post-pandemic to exceed $5 billion at the global box office. And that, per sources, always is great thing for the overall box office, creating an all-boats-rise type of scenario. Last year, Disney had one film in the profitability top 10, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, and four bombs in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Haunted Mansion, Wish and The Marvels. This year, the studio counted the top three most profitable titles with Inside Out 2, No. 2 with Moana 2 and No. 3 with Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine — the prescription for superhero fatigue. It also scored the No.

We're less than 24 hours away from the premiere of Another Simple Favor, and ahead of the sequel's release on Prime Video, director Paul Feig has revealed what it was like behind the scenes with stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Having been filmed after It Ends with Us, did all that baggage from the set of the Colleen Hoover adaptation come with Lively, or was she able to ditch it at the door? According to Feig, things couldn't have gone better.
Speaking with RadioTimes before the release of Another Simple Favor on May 1, 2025, Feig said that Lively and Kendrick were once again able to create "magic" on the set of his latest film, which serves as a sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor. This time around, the conniving Emily Nelson (Lively) invites her frenemey, Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick), to be the maid of honor at her wedding as she gets hitched...

As Blake Lively’s Most Controversial Movie Tops the Box Office, I Wonder Where All the Backlash Went

Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us had controversy written all over it, and well, I thought it’d sink the movie before it even got started. Between people slamming her casting, the awkward brand promotions that clashed with the story’s heavy themes, and even the rumored legal drama with Justin Baldoni, it felt like a PR nightmare. But now, with the movie blowing up, it’s like everyone just forgot.
I’m genuinely surprised how fast all that outrage vanished. One minute it was all anyone could talk about, and the next, total silence. Guess a big release really does wipe the slate clean.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament has returned, and as you’ll see from the most profitable films of 2024 that we’re about to disclose, a movie’s game doesn’t end at the box office. Rather, its downstream revenues and subsequent home windows must be taken into account. Streaming continues to be a wildcard: While traditional motion picture studios such as Disney, Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Universal rely on lucrative pay two and pay three streamer deals to catapult their slates into the black, those streamers who’ve embraced theatrical (specifically Amazon MGM Studios and Apple Original Films) have a clandestine metric as to how they evaluate a movie’s post-cinema success. By traditional studio P&l standards, some of those releases would be considered flops. Given that, Apple and Amazon are excluded from this year’s survey. The Most Valuable Blockbuster series runs later rather than sooner as...

J.K. Rowling Net Worth(Photo Credit –Facebook)
With a pen and a wild imagination, J.K. Rowling went from a struggling single mother to the world’s first billionaire author, thanks, of course, to the unparalleled success of the Harry Potter series. Her literary empire, bolstered by global book sales, blockbuster films, spin-offs, theme park rides, and merchandise, made headlines for redefining what writers could achieve in a commercial sense.
But Rowling’s ascent also posed a question to the literary world: would anyone else ever reach such financial heights through words alone? Over the years, authors have seen soaring sales, some fueled by film adaptations, others by streaming deals or social media virality. Yet the billion-dollar club has remained notoriously exclusive. As we stand in 2025, nearly two decades after Rowling’s breakthrough, has anyone else crossed that threshold?
Is J.K. Rowling Still the Only Billionaire Author in 2025?

Colleen Hoover is one of the most popular contemporary romance authors, rising to fame thanks to novels like Ugly Love, Confess, and Slam. However, Hoover's popularity skyrocketed in 2024 with the release of It Ends With Us, the adaptation of her bestselling 2016 novel.
Although It Ends With Us ended up being a widely controversial project because of the legal battle between director, producer, and star Justin Baldoni and lead actress Blake Lively, the movie was a box office hit. The film received mixed reviews from the critics, but the audience enjoyed it and grossed $349.7 million at the worldwide box office against a modest $25 million budget. More adaptations are on the way, and Deadline revealed that Universal's adaptation of Reminders of Him has just added Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham to the cast.

Another tribute has been chosen.
The new “Hunger Games” prequel “Sunrise on the Reaping” has cast McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, one of the tributes from District 12 alongside lead character Haymitch Abernathy.
The “Sunrise on the Reaping” novel was published on March 18 and takes place 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games, when Haymitch was chosen as one of the unlucky tributes to fight to the death. Woody Harrelson originated the role of Haymitch in the original “Hunger Games” series alongside franchise star Jennifer Lawrence, but newcomer Joseph Zada will play a younger version of him in “Sunrise on the Reaping,” it was announced yesterday. Whitney Peak will play Haymitch’s girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird.

Maysilee, in the Hunger Games prequel released last month, is one of the other tributes from District 12 opposite Haymitch Abernathy for the 50th Hunger Games or the Second Quarter Quell.
In addition to being a female tribute from District 12 in the Second Quell, Maysilee is also a twin to her sister Merrilee. The pair lived above a sweet shop with their parents in District 12. The ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us director and co-star, Justin Baldoni, takes another turn as a crew member on the film has now publicly defended the latter. During an appearance on 60 Minutes Australia, storyboard artist Talia Spencer spoke out defending Baldoni. Singing Baldoni's praises, Spencer said he was "one of the few directors I've worked for that was kind and respectful."
Spencer suggested that Lively "tried to take advantage and take power" from Baldoni, misinterpreting his kindness as a weakness. Spencer also indicated a significant compromise of Baldoni's original vision for the film, a movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel, which Baldoni both directed and led as Ryle Kincaid.
Spencer's public support of Baldoni comes during a legal dispute between Baldoni and Lively that began in December 2024. That month, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni that alleged sexual harassment and a smear campaign.
