The Today Show looks slightly different, while some frontline crew members are in Paris for the Olympics.
Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb are in Paris for the Olympics, while Al Roker and Craig Melvin stay home to hold down the Today Show fort.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11 and morning television won’t look the same as everyone rushes to cover the popular games.
Today is even bringing in a new contributor to help during the extended coverage: Dr. Michelle Henry. She has previously been on to discuss skincare and will now be even more familiar to fans.
Savannah and Hoda are excited to be in Paris for the Olympic coverage, especially since the Today booth is in front of the famous Eiffel Tower. Still, the trip is not without some guilty feelings.

Hoda Kotb is incredibly passionate about being a mother to her young daughters, Haley and Hope. That’s why it’s going to be incredibly hard for her to be away from them while she’s covering the upcoming Summer Olympic games in Paris.
But even so, there are plenty of ways for Hoda to keep in touch with Hope and Haley. It’s going to be a rough time period, but the Today hostess has been coming up with ways to ease the stress.
Hoda Kotb Has A Cute Plan To Keep Her Daughters Occupied During Her Absence
Hoda Kotb’s fans have loved seeing her become a mother after adopting her two little girls. She’s incredibly dedicated to their care and well-being. And that’s where she came up with an idea to do a craft with Hope and Haley while they wait for her to return from Paris.

The screenwriter behind “A Few Good Men” and “The American President,” as well as the creator of the much-lauded TV series “The West Wing,” Aaron Sorkin, despite having no experience in government or politics, has always claimed a sharp understanding of the behind-the-scenes machinations that keep the world spinning. In his most recent display of this keen awareness, Sorkin published an op-ed in The New York Times this morning, prior to President Biden announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, in which he told Democrats to nominate Republican Mitt Romney at their convention next month.
In the piece, Sorkin reflects on a season 3 plot of “The West Wing” in which fictional President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) decides to run for re-election despite recently announcing withholding his multiple sclerosis diagnosis from the electorate. Bartlet managed to prove his worthiness despite the illness and goes on to win a second term,...

Aaron Sorkin is reversing course on his recommendation for what the Democrats should do if faced with the prospect of Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
“I take it all back. Harris for America!” Sorkin said, via a message posted by Joshua Malina, one of the stars of The West Wing. A spokesperson for Sorkin confirmed the quote.
Earlier today, Sorkin had published an op ed in The New York Times, recommending a new “script” for Democrats: An open convention where they nominate Mitt Romney to be the party’s standard bearer.
Sorkin wrote that such a move would be “a clear and powerful demonstration that this election isn’t about what our elections are usually about it, but about stopping a deranged man from taking power.”
“Surely Mr. Romney, who doesn’t have to be introduced to voters, would peel off enough Republican votes to win, probably by a lot,...

As the calls for Joe Biden to exit the 2024 presidential race continue, so to have the scenarios for what happens after that.
Aaron Sorkin, the creator of The West Wing, offered what would be a West Wing-esque path for the party.
In an op ed in The New York Times on Sunday, Sorkin wrote that “there’s something the Democrats can do that would not just put a lump in people’s throats with its appeal to stop-Donald-Trump-at-all-costs unity, but with its originality and sense of sacrifice. So here’s my pitch to the writers’ room: The Democratic Party should pick a Republican.”

Updated, 2:15 Pm: A Manhattan judge today set a tentative start date of the rape retrial of convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein. With the disgraced former movie mogul in the courtroom briefly, Judge Curtis Farber penciled in November 12 but said he was open to earlier trial date depending on how quickly prosecutors move through the grand jury.
Prosecutors told Farber that they still after going through allegations from women who have come forward since Weinstein’s conviction was overturned on appeal in April. Read details of the case below.
Previously, May 1: “We believe in this case, and we will be retrying this case,” prosecutors in Harvey Weinstein’s New York rape case told a judge today in the first hearing since the much-accused producer’s 2020 conviction was overturned last week. “It was a strong case in 2020 …and it remains a strong case in 2024,” added Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg.

They may have only just reached the halfway point on shooting Stranger Things Season 5, but Matt and Ross Duffer — better known as The Duffer Brothers — are already plotting their next Upside Down Pictures production at Netflix. Yesterday, the streaming giant announced that it has just greenlit creator-showrunner Haley Z. Boston's original psychological horror series Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, which the Duffers are set to executive produce alongside Hilary Leavitt as part of their overall Upside Down deal with Netflix.
Details on Boston's series are scarce at the moment, but the official logline — much like the prophetically portentous title — makes for intriguing reading, describing the show as "an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler – just read the title…” Who the bride and groom are, what ill fate befalls their nuptials,...

Nikki Haley told the Republican National Convention that “Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period,” mending fences with the former president after a bitter primary race in which she had called him “not qualified” for office.
“We have a country to save, and a unified Republican Party is essential for saving her,” Haley said, with Trump sitting in the VIP area of the Fiserv Forum and clapping as she spoke.
She added, “For those who have some doubts about President Trump, I want to tell you a few things about the commander in chief I know and worked with. As ambassador to the United Nations, I had a front-row seat to his national security policies. We sure could use those again.”

The wait for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things continues but creators Ross and Matt Duffer are already looking ahead to a post-Stranger Things future. 1428 Elm has learned that as part of the Duffer brothers' overall deal with Netflix, they will executive produce a new psychological horror series alongside Hilary Leavitt under their production company Upside Down Pictures. Andrea Leavitt (Transparent) will also executive produce.
Titled Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, Netflix describes the project as an "atmospheric horror series" set in the lead-up to a wedding that sounds doomed from the start. As the title suggests, something is going to go terribly wrong.
Haley Z. Boston is the show's creator and will serve as showrunner, in addition to executive producing. Boston's previous credits include working as a staff writer on the Netflix Original series Brand New Cherry Flavor, based on the book by Todd Grimson.

Donald Trump told Fox News’ Bret Baier that he will “make a VP choice today,” with the announcement expected soon after that.
On air, Baier relayed a phone conversation he had with Trump this morning, as he recovers from an assassination attempt and celebrated a judge’s ruling dismissing the criminal classified documents case against him.
Speculation has centered on three potential picks: North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-fl) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-oh). For weeks, they have been at the center of media attention and profiles, even though other names have been floated since it was clear that Trump had secured the nomination. They include Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Sen. Tim Scott (R-sc) and former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. There even has been some attention to former Un ambassador Nikki Haley, Trump’s chief rival for the nomination, as a kind of unifying ticket, although that is still considered a longshot.

On Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump attacked former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley after beating her at the New Hampshire President Republican Primary during his victory speech, an interview, and even on social media.
“Well I want to thank everybody. This is a fantastic state. This is a great, great state. You know, we won New Hampshire three times now,” Trump said. “Three. We win it every time. We win the primary. We win the generals. We’ve won it, and it’s a very, very special place to me. It’s very important.”
Trump has lost New Hampshire in the last two general elections – to Joe Biden in 2020 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Haley responded to this endorsement in a statement in which she called Sheindlin a practical woman worthy of the respect she receives from millions of Americans in her courtroom.
“I’m honored to have her support,” Haley stated.
Sheindlin previously endorsed the former mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, in the 2020 Democratic primary.
On January 22, CNN reporter Dana Bash sat down with Sheindlin to discuss why she would rather support Haley than Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Nikki Haley said last week that New Hampshire voters would have an opportunity to “correct” the results of the Iowa caucuses when they headed to the polls Tuesday. Whether they did depends on Haley’s definition of a course correction. Trump secured a solid — although not a total landslide — victory in the Granite State, further thinning the former South Carolina governor’s already-long odds of unseating the former president atop the Republican Party.

Donald Trump returned to New Hampshire on Monday evening, once again hellbent on flexing his ability to identify shapes and sounds.
After bragging last week that he “aced” his cognitive test after correctly naming a giraffe, tiger, and whale, the former president spoke to a crowd of supporters in Laconia, New Hampshire — his last rally before the state’s Republican primary.
Amid a disjointed rant referencing the scrapped Reagan administration’s Strategic Defense Initiative that was popularly known as ”Star Wars,” Trump began to describe his own supposed plans for a U.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that he recently passed a cognitive test that was designed to test for intelligence.
“I don’t know if you saw, but a few months ago, I took a cognitive test my doctor gave me,” Trump told his supporters during a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, on January 20. “I said, ‘give me a cognitive test,’ just so we can – you know – because – you know what the standards were. And I aced it.”
“But I also took one when I was in the White House,” he confessed. “I’ll let you know when I go bad. I really think I’ll be able to tell you, because some day, we go bad.”
“[Nikki Haley] talks about, ‘Yeah, we don’t need 80-year-old,’ Well I don’t mind being 80 but I’m 77,” he then stated mockingly. “That’s a big difference.”

As Donald Trump was about to step on stage on Sunday for another rally to tout the endorsement of another former rival, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley was about 30 miles south in New Hampshire, at a rally at Exeter High School, where a celebrity figure and daytime fixture was lending her support: Judge Judy.
On stage to a room full of enthusiastic supporters, Haley called Judy Sheindlin, whose daily courtroom show made her one of the most famous women on TV, a “trailblazer” who is “tough” and “speaks hard truths” and “doesn’t mince words.”
“I will tell you for all of those endorsements you talk about, those are the endorsements that matter, the ones where they’re going to tell you the truth even if you don’t want to hear it, and they are going to tell you why, and it’s a combination of brains and heart,” Haley said.

With Ron DeSantis conveniently out of the GOP primary race, Donald Trump set his sights on Nikki Haley, his nearest opponent who still trails him by double-digits in the polls. The former South Carolina governor and Trump cabinet member has recently questioned the former president’s mental fitness after he confused her name with Nancy Pelosi’s at a rally.
“Here in New Hampshire, Nikki Haley has made an unholy alliance with RINOs, Never Trumpers, Americans for No Prosperity,” Trump said, referring to Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group that endorsed Haley in December.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended his Republican presidential campaign Sunday, ending his 2024 White House bid just before the New Hampshire primary while endorsing his bitter rival Donald Trump.
The decision leaves Trump and former Un Ambassador Nikki Haley as the last major candidates remaining in the race ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. This is the scenario Trump’s foes in the GOP have long sought, raising the stakes for this week’s contest as the party’s last chance to stop the former president who has so far dominated the race.
But as some Trump critics cheered, DeSantis nodded toward Trump’s primary dominance — and attacked Haley — in an exit video he posted on social media.
“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” DeSantis said in the straight-to-camera video, delivered in a cheerful tone.

Ron DeSantis repeatedly pledged to “never back down.” His campaign even recently released a song from country singer Billy Dean entitled, “Never Back Down.” But now, the Florida governor is doing just that.
On Sunday afternoon, DeSantis announced he is suspending his 2024 campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump, who spent the last year humiliating him. DeSantis’ decision to exit the race comes two days before the New Hampshire primary, in which polls indicate he would finish third. The GOP primary is now a two-person race between Trump and former South Carolina Gov.

Despite his repeated bragging that he “aced” a cognitive test while in office, many have questioned Trump’s mental fitness to be president in recent days. His opponent, former Trump cabinet member Nikki Haley, is making political hay out of his recent flub where he confused her with former House speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“Don’t be surprised if you have someone that is 80 in office, their mental stability is going to continue to decline. That’s just human nature,” the former South Carolina governor said Sunday on Face the Nation.

After former GOP presidential candidate Tim Scott endorsed Donald Trump rather than fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley, who had appointed him as senator in 2012, SNL‘s Devon Walker portrayed Scott justifying his move on SNL‘s Weekend Update.
Co-anchor Michael Che first mentioned Scott’s endorsement during the headline rundown, joking that “most Trump supporters only count him as three-fifths of an endorsement.”

With just days before the New Hampshire primary, Saturday Night Live returned with James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump, this time talking to the press from the New York courtroom where he’s been attending one of a number of cases keyed up for 2024.
“2024 is going to be a very exciting year. I’m either going to jail, be president, or frankly, The Purge,” Johnson as Trump said, an apparent reference to the movie franchise where all crime is legal for a half-day out of the year.
In reality, Trump is expected to be in the courtroom Monday, the day before the Granite State primary, as he has been attending the second civil trial brought by E. Jean Carroll. A jury last year already found Trump liable of sexual assault of Carroll, and the latest trial is largely to determine damages.

After months of avoiding conflict with former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley attacked him directly on Saturday at a campaign event in New Hampshire.
In a speech on Friday, Trump repeatedly confused Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, blaming her for not responding fast enough after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
Haley has never served in Congress and was not in government at the time of the riot.
“Last night, Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me several times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots,” Haley said. “Why I didn’t handle January 6 better. I wasn’t even in D.C. on January 6. I wasn’t in office then.”
“They’re saying he got confused,” she added. “That he was talking about something else. That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned...

After announcing to the state of New Hampshire that he had aced his cognitive test, Donald Trump incorrectly blamed Republican rival Nikki Haley for being in “charge of security” during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection on the Capitol.
During a rally in Concord, New Hampshire on Friday evening, Trump spiraled into a bizarre rant about crowd sizes and the Capitol riot. “Look at all the people back there. You got a lot of people. This is supposed to be a quaint little area. This is not quaint at all,” Trump titillated before a crowd of supporters.

Nikki Haley’s presidential race is entering the final days before the New Hampshire primary with some celebrity support: Judge Judy Sheindlin.
The Haley campaign said that Sheindlin, who announced her endorsement earlier this month, will join the candidate at a rally on Sunday in Exeter, Nh.
Haley posted about Sheindlin’s support on X/Twitter, writing, “Hard truths from Judge Judy.”
Sheindlin said, “Neither Biden nor Trump would know a Houthi from a salami unless someone whispered in their ear or spelled it out from them on a Teleprompter. We need a president like Haley who knows what’s happening — because that’s essential to knowing how to respond.”
Sheindlin produces and stars in Amazon Freevee’s Judy Justice and will headline Justice on Trial , a courtroom docudrama focusing on seminal cases.
Sheindlin backed Michael Bloomberg in his 2020 presidential bid, but otherwise said that she had stayed away from politics except to vote.

As former Un Ambassador Nikki Haley took the stage at CNN’s town hall in New Hampshire, her chief rival in the state’s primary took to another interview on Fox News.
It was yet another bit of counter-programming on the part of Trump, as well as Fox News, which billed Sean Hannity’s interview as the former president’s first since his victory in the Iowa caucuses. Last week, as Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis participated in CNN’s pre-Iowa debate, Fox News did a town hall with Trump.
Shortly after Haley took the stage, host Jake Tapper asked Haley about Trump’s dog whistle attacks on her, including advancing a conspiracy theory that questioned her eligibility to be president as the child of Indian immigrants. Trump also referred to her as “Nimrada,” misspelling her given first name, Nimarata, clearly reviving birtherism and the “otherness” of his opponents.

An unknown man in his underwear walked through a live TV interview on right-wing network Newsmax, which featured the network’s anchor Rob Schmitt and conservative political commentator, Dick Morris.
On January 15, Schmitt was reporting on the likely outcome of the 2024 Iowa Republican caucus with Morris.
During this interview, the political commentator was telling Schmitt what a win at this caucus could mean for GOP candidates like Nikki Haley and Donald Trump.
“Well, I think Trump is going to score a huge victory,” he stated. “I think the media is going to try to downplay it because, as you correctly said, they’re basically supporting Nikki Haley.”
When Morris was nearly halfway done with this statement, the large unknown man wearing nothing but a white tank top and black boxer shorts walked into the room in which Morris was doing his live shot.
The interview and Morris continued on without commenting on the odd sight.

California Governor Gavin Newsom weighed in on the presidential prospects of his Florida counterpart and frequent foe, Ron DeSantis, while declaring the race for the Republican nomination all but over.
“DeSantis is toast,” Newsom said today at an event in Orange County. “That’s self evident. I don’t think he’s even spending much time in New Hampshire, given up on that. I don’t know what state he can win in a primary, so that’s for certain.”
DeSantis placed a distant second in the Iowa caucuses to Donald Trump this week, but he is far behind in the polls in New Hampshire, which has its primary on Tuesday, and instead has been concentrating more on South Carolina, which has its primary on Feb. 24.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign will try to steal some of the media attention on New Hampshire on Tuesday with a Northern Virginia rally focused on the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s repeal of Roe vs. Wade.

Campaign surrogates also will be holding events, characterizing efforts to restrict abortion at the state level as “Trump’s abortion bans.”
