Hollywood’s penchant for drama is well-documented, but this year, the spotlight has been cast on some off-screen antics that are juicier than a blockbuster. The buzz around Blake Lively’s involvement in the film adaptation of It Ends with Us has stirred the proverbial pot, particularly due to her rocky relationship with co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

Are we talking about a tiff or a full-blown feud? If you believe the grapevine, the tension on set attracted its own share of controversy. While the world watches and whispers, Ryan Reynolds remains tight-lipped about it. However, his brother has not been so reserved.
Indeed, amid the swirl of gossip, Lively’s brother-in-law, Bart Johnson, decided to defend the former, taking to Instagram to set the record straight. He didn’t hesitate to heap praise on the actress,...

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni starrer It Ends With Us has been a resounding success in theaters and has already crossed $200 million in collection. However, Colleen Hoover fans would be disappointed to learn that a sequel to the film appears slim after the two lead actors’ alleged feud. Hoover’s sequel novel, It Starts With Us, was another best-seller in the U.S.

Under ordinary circumstances, a sequel to the female-focused drama It Ends With Us would be a no-brainer. The $25 million-budgeted Sony Pictures film has collected more than $180 million globally since opening Aug. 9, and author Colleen Hoover already published a best-selling sequel, the 2022 novel It Starts With Us. But the well-publicized rift between star-producer Blake Lively and director-star Justin Baldoni has observers now wondering whether a sequel is viable, at least with both of them involved.
Both Lively’s flower shop owner Lily and Baldoni’s abusive neurosurgeon Ryle are in the book sequel. Further complicating matters: Baldoni developed It Ends With Us from the ground up after acquiring the rights from Hoover five years ago via Wayfarer Studios, which he co-founded with billionaire Steve Sarowitz and runs with Jamey Heath.
Sources say Wayfarer has rights to the sequel It Starts With Us, which would mean Lively and Baldoni working together, even...

Justin Baldoni’s production company Wayfarer Studios is partnering with the No More Foundation to provide resources and information related to the abuse depicted in Baldoni’s latest film, “It Ends With Us.”
Through an end card running in the film’s credits, and a dedicated page on their website, No More aims to offer survivors of domestic and sexual violence (and their loved ones) easy access to help. Most notably, the No More Global Directory connects people to support services in the U.S. and 200 countries and territories around the world.
Sony’s film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s megahit novel of the same name follows florist Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) as she falls in love with Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni), a charismatic neurosurgeon. While their relationship begins as a whirlwind fairytale, Lily soon finds herself swept into the same pattern of domestic abuse she saw her mother endure.

Justin Baldoni has hired veteran PR crisis manager Melissa Nathan amid the release of It Ends With Us, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 hit book, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The news comes days after sleuths flooded TikTok with speculation about an alleged rift between Baldoni and his cast and crew, including co-star and producer Blake Lively, as well as Hoover. Chatter spiked when fans noticed Baldoni’s absence from joint press events and the lack of group photos of Lively and Baldoni together at the New York premiere Aug. 6. Some also pointed out that neither Lively or Hoover, nor the rest of the cast, follow Baldoni on Instagram (though he follows them).
Nathan launched The Agency Group earlier this summer after spending nearly a decade working for leading crisis strategist Matthew Hiltzik. Her New York-based outfit specializes in communications, crisis, reputation management, personal publicity and digital team services across the entertainment industry.

The Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni-starring romantic drama “It Ends With Us” will open in mainland China cinemas next month.
Sony Pictures said that the Baldoni-directed picture has received the necessary approvals in China for it to open on Aug. 30.
All imported films seeking a revenue-sharing release in China have to undergo multiple approvals and clear censorship before setting a release that is handled by a state-owned company.
While there have been times in the recent past that these controls have been used to limit the flow of Hollywood titles into China, at present there seem to be little hampering the U.S. studios major movies.
In other territories the film’s distribution is handled by Columbia Pictures. And it receives its North American release on Aug. 9.

Dozens of top Hollywood creatives and activists have signed an open letter in response to the shuttering of production company Participant — imploring the industry to continue to effect change through film and television as the defunct company once did.
George Clooney, Aflonso Cuarón, Ava DuVernay, Jane Fonda, Regina King, Viola Davis, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, Color of Change president Rashad Robinson and more are signators, in addition to groups like GLAAD and Human Rights Watch. The letter was coordinated by the National Domestic Workers Alliance (Ndwa), which collaborated with Participant and director Cuarón on a visibility campaign for his 2018 Oscar winner “Roma.”
“As we say goodbye to Participant, we must underscore that values-based storytelling is needed now more than ever,” the letter states. “There is a whole ecosystem of people, connected by the work of the last 20 years of Participant, ready to work with you.

No one ever said loving people is easy. Each person comes with their own set of challenges and unpredictabilities. Patience, tolerance, and understanding are crucial for a meaningful and beneficial bond. If you’re willing to go the distance for someone you love, the rewards can be worth every moment of frustration, heartache, and pain. Today, Bleecker Street debuted a trailer for the studio’s comedic family drama, Ezra, a touching story about fathers and sons going above and beyond the call of duty to find balance in a world designed to judge and persecute.
Ezra follows Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (Robert De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (introducing William Fitzgerald) with his ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Bobby Cannavale Is a Stand-up Comic with an Autistic Son, a Road Trip, and a Dream in ‘Ezra’ Trailer
Bobby Cannavale has been passed over at the Comedy Cellar, but if he doesn’t get his act together — and we don’t mean his stand-up act — life itself will pass him by.
Bleecker Street released the trailer for its upcoming feature film “Ezra” on Wednesday, March 13, which in addition to Cannavale stars Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, Tony Goldwyn, and newcomer William A. Fitzgerald, and Robert De Niro. Pretty good cast there.
“Ezra” follows Max Bernal (Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (Fitzgerald) with ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Cannavale is broke — the living with dad part probably gave that away — and “still not over” Byrne.

Bleecker Street has nabbed Tony Goldwyn’s Ezra, which stars Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Robert De Niro and newcomer William A. Fitzgerald in a drama about the challenges of parenthood and autism.
Ezra, which bowed at the Toronto Film Festival, also has Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg in its ensemble cast. Bleecker Street plans a 2024 theatrical release.
Ezra stars Cannavale as Max Brandel, a once successful late-night comedy writer turned less successful stand-up comedian struggling through the failure of his career and marriage. After moving in with his uncommunicative father, played by De Niro, Max and his ex-wife Jenna (Byrne) remain at odds on how to best raise their autistic son, Ezra, played by Fitzgerald.
Max often includes his challenging relationship with his son, Ezra, in his comedy material, but not always with the best results. Nonetheless, the family remains determined to push through hardship to care for the ones they love most.

Because the fall festivals had fewer actors and writers on hand due to the strikes, more independent movies came into the season looking for buyers. And even with AMPTP buyers getting cold feet on some with interim agreements, many titles have already found homes, making it one of the busiest fall festival seasons across Venice, Toronto, and Telluride in recent memory.
Below is the running list of movies that have found buyers.

The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel “It Ends With Us” has set Feb. 9, 2024 as its theatrical release date despite its halted production in the wake of the WGA writers’ strike.
The Columbia and Wayfarer Studios film will star Blake Lively as Lily Bloom, a Boston resident who finds an unexpected kindred spirit in neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni). Their relationship takes some twists and turns, and Lily’s high school love interest Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) comes back into the picture to complicate things further.
According to a Deadline report from June’s shutdown, less than half the movie has been shot. Filming is paused until the completion of the writers’ strike following the production’s failure to persuade the guild last month that Wayfarer Studios’ cofinancing of the project made it an indie film, which would have allowed it to continue filming within the strike’s guidelines.

It was announced in 2019 that American author Colleen Hoover's "It Ends With Us" would be getting a movie adaptation after the novel was optioned by Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, with the author serving as a consultant on the film. Today, Variety reported that Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni ("Jane the Virgin") would be starring in the movie. The best-selling book was 2022's top-selling print, has been published and translated into over 40 languages, and has been on the New York Times Best Seller List for 90 weeks and counting.
The casting news has arrived shortly after much online debate pointing out the controversial themes of "It Ends With Us," the novel's problematic portrayal of abusive relationships, and a recent endeavor to publish a coloring book inspired by the title has been met with backlash from critics of Hoover. Certain readers also worry about the book's one-dimensional male protagonist, his shallow employment of toxic masculinity,...

Sales agent Deckert Distribution has boarded “Racist Trees,” directed by Sara Newens and Mina T. Son, and produced by Wayfarer Studios and Wild Pair Films, ahead of its world premiere in IDFA’s Frontlight strand. The feature-length documentary investigates the timely story of racial conflict in Palm Springs, uncovering an even darker racist history that few would equate with the city’s progressive image.
In Palm Springs, lies the historically Black Lawrence Crossley neighborhood, cut off from the glitz and glamour, and overshadowed by towering 60-foot Tamarisk trees. They were planted by the city authorities in the late 1950s to line the 14th fairway of a city-owned golf course, and – so some claim – to block Lawrence Crossley from the view of the white folk, and cut the neighborhood off from the rest of the city.

President Donald Trump from several major social networks. It will cover what transpired behind the scenes during this historic moment, who ultimately made the unprecedented decision to ban Trump, and how the decision-making process unfolded, also questioning whether social media platforms have a position as arbiters of free speech.
