At its best, Fire Country is one of the most thrilling dramas on network television.
Borrowing the best elements from the procedural and nighttime soap genres, the show's first season took a risky premise. It developed it into a bonafide hit with writing a notch above the standard primetime fare.
The secret was relatable characters whose interpersonal drama helped to offset the wackiness of some of the more outlandish action storylines.
Is the show sacrificing the believability of its first season by featuring implausible emergency scenarios?
Did the writers paint themselves into a corner with a premise that all but demands that they raise the stakes week after week? We've already considered that Fire Country may have fizzled out, but we're here with a more detailed discussion.

But for Gaylors, a dedicated Swift fanbase that’s existed for over a decade, Swift’s prologue and a mention of her feelings surrounding speculation about her love life have dampened what should have been an exciting release.
Thinking about the 24-year-old she was when 1989 was released, Swift writes, “I swore off dating and decided to only focus on myself,...

As a self-professed Saw-head, I will admit that anytime we get a brand-new Saw movie, I’m happier than Billy riding his bicycle to greet a new victim. Good or bad, I find the films in this franchise to be endlessly entertaining (and rewatchable), with Saw II and Saw VI being amongst my favorites from the series. Well, now there’s a new contender for my favorite Saw movie because Saw X is that damn great. It’s hard to believe that a tenth film in a horror franchise could deliver the goods as well as it does (so to speak), as usually with different series, the longer they go on, the more diminishing the returns are.
But Saw X feels like an absolutely miraculous achievement and was a completely enthralling viewing experience. Directed by Kevin Greutert and co-written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, Saw X brings about...

Consider the November 18 episode of Fire Country your reminder that taking selfies on a cliff is not recommended! When a female hiker falls and suffers broken bones, the Cal Fire crew attempts a difficult mountainside rescue. Complicating it further: Mother Nature and the fact that the guys making the climb are Battalion 1608 engineer Jake (Jordan Calloway) and inmate firefighter Bode (Max Thieriot), who have serious history. Eve (Jules Latimer) is there “to delegate and make sure we don’t go after each other’s head,” says Calloway. (Credit: Sergei Bachlakov/CBS) The men still haven’t forgiven each other for the night Bode’s sister died years ago. Jake broke her heart, and as Bode drove her home from Jake’s house, he lost control of the car. Now Bode, who spiraled and has been serving time for armed robbery, is getting closer to Jake’s empathetic girlfriend, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila...

This week on CBS’ Fire Country, the mantra was, “You’re not the worst thing you’ve ever done.” But was Bode able to start proving that to his dad?
Episode 3 of the freshman hit (which just got a full-season order) opened with Bode having a bad dream about the night Riley died. We get to see how Riley was distraught about her fight with Jake, and how she desperately tried to get out of the moving car. Bode, as we knew, reached for her, and in struggling to pull Riley back in, steered the car away from oncoming traffic but into a tree.
