Watch “Saturday Night Live’s” Will Forte walk around in his briefs in a 4-minute trailer for Fox’s new series “Last Man on Earth.” I’m guessing this is a comedy. It looks depressing as hell, though. If I was the last man on earth, things would stop being interesting about a month into it. Is there really anything worth doing if no one knows you’re doing it? I dunno. It’s funny, I haven’t even heard of this show until this trailer popped up on Fox’s YouTube channel. But I love this type of plot, so I’ll probably check it out. It doesn’t look like it’s getting much of a push from Fox, though, which may mean a short shelf life for the show. The year is 2022, and after an unlikely event, only one man is left on earth: Phil Miller (Forte...

Here’s the only problem with Will Forte being the eponymous last man on Earth in Fox’s, uh, The Last Man on Earth: there’s no one left to laugh at his jokes. Well, except us. In Fox’s upcoming high concept comedy, series creator and writer Forte plays Phil Miller (and, yes, that’s definitely a play on the names of producers and pilot directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller – yes, that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, so obviously you should be clearing your calendar for this one Asap), the last man on Earth. Probably. Most likely. And we get to watch. As the show’s official website tells us: “The year is 2022, and after an unlikely event, only one man is left on earth: Phil Miller (Forte), who used to be just an average guy who loved his family and hated his job at the bank. Now, in...

The Lego Movie is blowing up at the box office and has recently surpassed $200 million worldwide. The sequel to the film has already been announced, and Warner Bros. has set its release for May 26th, 2017.
The studio has already hired Jared Stern (Mr. Popper’s Penguins) and Michelle Morgan to write the script. There's no word on or Chris Lord and Phil Miller will return to direct it. I assume most of the original cast will be back to reprise their roles, though. That cast includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie.
Hopefully they are able to come up with a story that is just as awesome as the original.

I know I ranted last week about the creative bankruptcy of Waldo and Carmen Sandiego movies, so I’m starting off on a contradictory foot here. But the talent assembled for Warner Bros’ Lego movie has me too excited to think about brand exploitation and lack of imagination.
Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs writers and directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller will adapt those Lego blocks we all know and love for the big screen, along with “Robot Chicken” director Chris McKay who knows a thing or two about telling stories with old inanimate toys.
According to Variety, WB gave the official greenlight last week for “an action adventure set in the Lego world” tentatively eyeing a release sometime in 2014. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but last year Lord said the plan is to create a world of stackable objects (even the explosions will be made of...

This is Amazing news – especially if, like me, you lived for Lego as a child. Ever since Lego expanded their brand into the likes of video games etc, there has been word of a full-blown Lego movie hitting the screens, thanks in no small part to the gigantic success of the games. Now finally Warner Bros have greenlit the movie, and it is set to be released in 2014. Slashfilm report that Chris Lord and Phil Miller, who directed the brilliant Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, are signed on to direct. They’ve described the movie as ‘something like if Michael Bay kidnapped Henry Selick to make a movie for him’ and have hinted that Everything, from the characters to the clouds, will be lego. How cool is that? Some may scoff and say it’s a pointless adaptation, but Chris McKay of Robot Chicken fame is also on board,...

That Lego movie that Warner Bros. has been developing for several years is really happening now. Last year Chris Lord and Phil Miller, writers and directors of the great CGI animated film Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, were hired to direct [1] the movie. Now Warner Bros. has greenlit their Lego approach, which will be a live-action/animation hybrid, with about 80% of the film animated at Australian animation house Animal Logic (Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole). But there's an additional name in the mix, too: Robot Chicken director Chris McKay has been enlisted to co-direct with Lord and Miller. Variety [2] doesn't offer any more story details than the very basic statement that the film will be "an action-adventure set in the Lego world." Over a year ago, however, Lord said [3], I don’t know how we’re exactly going to execute it, but I would say the...
