“I Need Hair to Be Pretty”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Some of the best Amazing Race moments have shown players overcoming serious fears of heights, tight spaces, and even jumping into a pool. Seeing their thrilled reactions after overcoming these challenges is one of the reasons the show remains popular. In season seven, Uchenna and Joyce became fan favorites after she won the Fast Forward by getting her head shaved. His supportive reaction during and after the experience showed their tight bond. Thirteen seasons later, that challenge is back in a similar spot late in the season, but the results are much different. Brendon and Rachel could guarantee themselves a place in the final four by completing this task. This is the type of moment that could alter their status in the game and the eyes of viewers. The Amazing Race 19.10 "Release the Brake!" Review
Was it just me or was that by far the best episode of The Amazing Race this season?
I mean, it hasn't had a whole lot of serious challengers in that regard, but "Release the Brake!" managed to cut down on some of the show's idiosyncrasies while highlighting what can make an episode of The Amazing Race such good TV. Going into the episode, however, I have to say that I was a little disenchanted with the idea of this being the second part to an unnecessary two-part leg, but once it got going, it more than made up for that fact.
Failing to utilize a time equalizing bit of trans-production interference or brutally simple challenges for one of the first times all season, "Release the Brake!" instead gave us solid tasks, little obvious show interjection, and gorgeous scenery. It was a more...

These Amazing Race winners knew just what to do at the finish line. Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney ended their wedding ceremony Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego with an undoubtedly romantic smooch. "When they kissed, the whole crowd started clapping and cheering loudly," a wedding guest tells People. After being pronounced man and wife, "Cheyne grabbed her hand [and] the two of them literally danced down the aisle together," says the guest. "Cheyne was tossing rose petals in the air the whole way down and they stopped for a second kiss at the end of the aisle.

Toward the end of the year, TV shows that are doing well in rating have started getting the pick-up while those that struggle are given the ax. That way, networks would be able to determine which shows would return in midseason and which new shows should replace the canceled ones. Moreover, winners from reality shows such as "Survivor", "Top Chef" and "The Biggest Loser" begin to reveal themselves.

Before the Ball dropped in Times Square to ring in 2009, the Great Gay Debate was underway in America. Prop. 8 was the catalyst, and in its wake everyone had an opinion on Glbt civil rights. We listened. We blogged. But someone else was watching too. Someone who sees you when you're sleeping, who knows when you're awake. Someone who knows when you've been bad or good — and keeps a list to prove it.

Ericka Dunlap, 27, and Brian Kleinschmidt, 27, only placed third in The Amazing Race 15, but this Nashville couple (a.k.a. Mr. and Miss America) were consistently fun to watch thanks to her dramatic meltdowns and their witty repartee. The aspiring country singer and her marketing tour manager husband spoke with People about keeping it real on The Race. --Carrie Bell It must have been frustrating to gain the lead and then lose it because you can’t bungee bounce. Brian: It was a tough challenge and it was a blow to our spirits to lose the lead but it wasn’t as bad as it seemed.

Adorable fan faves Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney won the 15th cycle of The Amazing Race last night, but their adventures together aren't over yet! When we caught up with the couple earlier today to ask about their victory and their future together, Meghan revealed whether or not the couple plans on getting married and if they'd be spending their Tar prize money on a blowout wedding bash. Here's what we learned from the cuties about their future as a twosome; plus, why they think also-rans Dan and Sam were so darn annoying... Warning: This interview contains spoilers about the finale of The Amazing Race.
From the time viewers first met gay brothers Sam and Dan McMillen on CBS’ The Amazing Race last September, the duo made it hard to take your eyes off of them. Whether screaming at each other, swiping competitor’s taxi cabs, or playing volleyball in their undies (and forcing CBS to work overtime pixelating the footage) the two were always entertaining — and in the thick of things.
And just like Luke Adams did in the previous cycle of Tar, Sam and Dan represented the gay community well as they charged into Sunday night’s finale with a genuine shot at the million dollars. AfterElton.com caught up with the brothers to discuss their strategy in the race, their relationship and just why all that pixelation was necessary! And they didn't yell at each other once during the interview.

Anything can happen in Vegas -- and for these racers, it did! After visiting eight countries and logging more than 25,000 miles in 21 days, San Diego-based Meghan Rickey, 23, and Cheyne Whitney, 23, were the first team to cross the finish line at Wayne Newton’s house in Las Vegas on The Amazing Race and were crowned winners of the CBS series’ 15th installment and the million-dollar prize by host Phil Keoghan. While they appeared stunned (Cheyne asked, “For real, bro?” while Meghan claimed she couldn’t feel her body), the All-Americans were generally favored to win as they had placed first on the most legs,...

On this week’s season finale episode of The Amazing Race, we were treated to the one-hour representation of America: Las Vegas, Nevada. As habitually first place team Meghan and Cheyne ripped open their clue envelope, viewers at home were greeted with a montage of iconic Vegas imagery: poker chips, bright lights, and a fairly decent Elvis impersonator who mimed guitar behind the legendary anthem of the city… Katy Perry’s Waking up in Vegas.
The dating couple rushed to the airport, taking the first available flight from Prague to Nevada, a relatively scant five hours later. At the airport, the team waited patiently for their flight and reunification with second place finishers, brothers Sam and Dan, and the mysterious third place finishers. It was a pretty exciting show, this of course referring to the finale of "The Amazing Race 15". First, I'll give you a quick recap as to what happened before announcing the winners. The teams had to fly to Las Vegas and venture to the Graceland Wedding Chapel to get their next clue. Next, they were off to Mandalay Bay. After that was the Mirage Casion and Resort. Finally, the they had to go to the MGM Grand Hotel where they met with Wayne Newton who revealed that the last pit stop was his house. Meghan Ricky and Cheyne Whitney were the first ones to arrive, winning the competition and a whopping $1 million grand prize. In second were Sam and Dan and in third were Brian and Erika. Congratulations to the winners!

In tradition of "The Amazing Race" finales, the fifteenth edition also took the final three teams back to the United States to compete for the ultimate prize. From Prague, Czech Republic, Cheyne and Megan; Brian and Ericka; as well as Sam and Dan hopped on the same plane to Las Vegas, Nevada where they explored the casinos, literally.
Once in Las Vegas, they had to find an Elvis with a clue inside a wedding chapel. They were then directed to The Mirage where they should perform the Road Block. One team member must stapled his or her way down The Mirage face first in order to get the next clue. Ericka actually finished first and was so far ahead the two others.

When the chips were down in Las Vegas, one team counted on each other to become the latest winners of The Amazing Race. The final trio of competitors—former Miss America Ericka Dunlap and husband Brian Kleinschmidt, picture-perfect couple Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney, and brothers Sam and Dan McMillen—raced to Vegas for a final set of jaw-dropping challenges, which included scaling down the face of a casino, trying to attain flower power at Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles' Love and, gulp, knowing some basic geography. So, here we are. Over there's Meghan and Cheyne, also known as "that team that's always ahead". Also over there's Sam and Dan, also known as "that team that races and argues intensely" (or, as I christened them before, The Most Annoying Team Ever). And, catching up, is Brian and Ericka, also known as "that damn lucky team". One leg to go before one of these teams win the million dollars on The Amazing Race--but that doesn't mean they get away from the challenges of Las Vegas. I doubt that whatever happens there stays there, else I wouldn't be writing about it.

Remaining in last week’s setting, Prague in the beautiful Czech Republic, the four remaining teams saw a brand new side of the city: the nocturnal side. Departing under a twilight sky, dating couple and perpetual frontrunners Meghan and Cheyne were instructed to find The Spanish Synagogue, the city’s oldest Jewish house of prayer. Apart from the upcoming Speedbump destined to deter married couple Brian and Ericka, this location served no purpose other than exotic eye candy and a free advertisement for the Czech tourism board. Upon arrival, Megan and Cheyne received another clue, and were diverted towards another destination altogether. This location was the Ekotechnicke Museum, and the location of this week’s Roadblock Challenge.

The Amazing Race's producers enjoyed an indulgent streak this year, casting an ex-Miss America, a World Series of Poker finalist, and two Harlem Globetrotters named Flight Time and Big Easy for its 15th season. Of all those bewildering contestants, the jocular duo were easy to like; they razzed, raced, and executed goofy lay-ups with equal elan. They were insistently all-American. And most of all, they weren't the deplorable Meghan and Cheyne. During last night's episode, Phil Keoghan sent the dribbling patriots home for a fourth-place finish, following yet another victory for the aforementioned towheads. A few things were obvious from last week's The Amazing Race. One, Meghan and Cheyne will forever be first. Two, Brian and Ericka will forever be lucky. Three, the other two teams--Sam and Dan, and Flight Time and Big Easy--will forever be in each others nerves. It goes without saying that not much has changed, only it's much more critical this time. Oh dear.
Okay ... it's true that Sam and Dan did commit a spectacularly jerkish move on last night's The Amazing Race, but I'm here to defend them.
Why? Well, this is a race, and you're supposed to do whatever you can to win while playing within the rules, which is what they did.
Also, the finish turned out to have a Twilight Zone-esque "ironic twist" that may come back to haunt them.
Finally, what they did that's causing such an uproar wasn't even their worst moment of the night.
We start out with the teams having to fly to Prague, which baffles Dan.
Dan: Do they speak Spanish there? Sam:: No! Dan: Well, what is it? Sam: Prague? It's a country
Things go downhill from there.

This week’s episode of The Amazing Race began just as many other episodes have this season: dating couple Meghan and Cheyne departing first as a reward for last week’s first place finish. Ripping open their clue envelope in the dreary morning hours, the pair discovered the locale of this week’s mobile adventure: Prague, the capital of The Czech Republic and the former Holy Roman Empire, known for Gothic architecture, an impressive cultural output and more Bohemians than a college town coffee shop
Contestants were informed to search the Old Town Square and locate “a vintage Praga.” An understandably vague clue, but perhaps a bit advanced for the remaining teams. After all, brothers Sam and Dan were certain Prague was a sovereign nation.
As most do when backed into an intellectual corner, Meghan and Cheyne consult the internet for answers. Utilizing an airport computer, the duo discovers a Praga is an old-fashioned convertible.

This week on "The Amazing Race", the order of team check-in did not change from last week's. Brian and Ericka finished last but fortunately they were spared being sent home. The third non-elimination round happened again in the tenth leg, meaning there will be four teams in the final.
Megan and Cheyne who statistically have been on top of their game, won a trip for two to Lanai, Hawaii after finishing first. Flight Time and Big Easy were the second team to arrive, followed by Sam and Dan. As the fourth and last team to step on the Pit Stop mat, Brian and Ericka would have to perform a Speed Bump next week and fight their way to the top.
The married couple was the last one to leave Estonia for Czech Republic. The fact that they chose to take Subway instead of taxi to get to the town center did not help.

The married couple was the last one to leave Estonia for Czech Republic. The fact that they chose to take Subway instead of taxi to get to the town center did not help.

In the words of my favorite Canadian indie band, "it's all gonna break!" Seems The Amazing Race this week is the week when everything goes right past the breaking point, and everybody tries to hold on. Maybe it was because I watched the show frustrated over other things, but it felt that all of the teams were just that close to going bonkers. Well, not really, because there was something good at the end, but still. Close to going bonkers.
Meghan and Cheyne arrived first at the pit stop in Mustpeade, and open their clues revealing their next destination: Prague, in the Czech Republic. Upon arrival, the teams have to go to the Old Town district and find a vintage Praga, which happens to be a car. But, of course, nobody knows about it. In the end, all four remaining teams were in the airport--unfortunately for the frontrunners the first...

The final five teams crossed the Baltic Sea to explore Estonia on Sunday's The Amazing Race. Things got heated -- and not just on the sauna bus -- as brothers Dan and Sam engaged the Harlem Globetrotters in a foot race to the pit stop. Here are a few dos and don'ts as the Race's end draws near. --Carrie Bell 1. Get a taxi at any cost. All-Americans Meghan and Cheyne cut off a cabbie in the middle of the road to get directions to the ferry. Mr. America Brian, who hung out the window and waved his arms, said he was "lassoing taxis." And when the two teams spotted a cab simultaneously, Mr. America let the other team take it but asked their driver to call for another cab. As their cabbie was going to make the call, the All-Americans told him to forget it. "We don't care about them,...

What goes through your mind when you think of European travel? A secluded café in Paris? A walk on the streets of foggy London? A cold stein in a Berlin beer garden? A romantic boat ride down the Venetian canals? Whatever your exotic fantasy, it fits two criteria; it resembles a Price Is Right showcase, and it involves the western half of the continent.
For whatever reason, the tourist appeal of Europe inexplicably seems to evaporate somewhere within the borders of Austria. Adding to general disinterest, the media depicts this eastern region as destitute, backwards, decrepit, and just plain bleak. Perhaps a backhanded jab towards the Cold War and the areas behind the Iron Curtain, nobody gives Eastern Europe the glory it deserves. Except, of course, for The Amazing Race, which compresses the cultural identities of Estonia and several other nations into brief 44-minute snippets, consisting mostly of airports and taxi interiors.

Saved from being sent home last week through the non-elimination round, Gary and Matt cannot keep up with "The Amazing Race" this week. The father and son duo had to perform an additional task for coming the last in the previous leg, spending five minutes inside a Sauna Buss in Estonia before they can perform the Road Block.
All teams actually started at the same time because the boat that took them to Tallinn was so late that they all ended up on the same spot. But once there, Gary and Matt had to perform the speed bump while the others moved on with the Road Block. Here, teams were required to travel to Mustpeade and one member must dash to the cellar to acquire a candelabra and an empty scroll inside a room. The scroll contained clue written in invisible ink which will be visible by holding it near the candle.

Last week's The Amazing Race marked the return of that infamous Roadblock back in season 6, with the hundreds of hay bales and the flags rolled on, say, three percent of the flags. While the first time around someone was stuck there for ten hours, this time around, there wasn't that much of a struggle--although that doesn't mean Gary and Matt would have a hard time this time around, especially since it's a non-elimination leg and they have a lot to do this time if they're to survive.
Here's the deal. Flight Time and Big Easy left the pit stop first, at 2:23am. The next team out, Meghan and Cheyne, left at 4:12am. Gary and Matt left at 6:29am. Four hours behind? Daunting, I know. But circumstances were on their side, really. The teams are headed to Tallinn, Estonia, and they'll go there via ferry across the Baltic Sea,...

The Amazing Race. Its name alone incites images of a grandiose adventure. It’s not just An Amazing Race, it’s The Amazing Race. A name that drives home the necessity of commitment and tenacity like a big-league slugger pumped full of steroids. The Race isn’t easy, and it is not for everyone. If you have difficulty running for long periods of time, the race is not for you. If you cannot handle yourself under pressure, the race is not for you. If you have an irrational phobia of an everyday circumstance, such as water or heights, the race is not for you. You either bring your A-game, or you stay home like the rest of us and yell at the TV.
Tonight’s episode began in Dubai, UAE. A city so massive, metropolitan and modern, if you listen closely, you can actually hear The Lorax weeping in the distance.

Another couple was heading home after a few weeks of "The Amazing Race". Mika and Canaan, the newly dating couple who had been finishing seventh place in the last three weeks, finally met the dead line because they were unable to catch up with the rest especially after Mika freaked out in one of the challenges.
The race was kicked off in Dubai with Meghan and Cheyne who were the first to arrive last week embarking for Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Teams were given a locked briefcase which combination key can be retrieved in a watch. One member of the teams must row a raft to a yacht. Cheyne got so far ahead that he completed the task before everyone else started.
From there teams get to choose between Gold and Glass. In the former, they have to weigh a certain amount of gold quickly because the price...

We are still in Dubai, the land of (really) tall skyscrapers surrounded by barren deserts, which is odd when you're not used to it. And we're still on The Amazing Race, and what is perhaps the best episode last week, on the sheer power of Lance and Keri's elimination. That aside, I'm prepping myself for either a terrible disappointment or something that we've all seen coming. I'm going for the latter, but not before I whistle to my favorite television theme song ever. If only I knew how.
Meghan and Cheyne finished first on the back of a Fast Forward, so they start everything with a randomly-chosen suitcase and a taxi ride to the Dubai Creek Yacht Club. From there, it's a Roadblock: one has to row across the water to an anchored yacht, where they'll retrieve a watch, row back, and open the briefcase with the combination that's on the watch,...

The honeymoon was cut short when Lance, 41, and Keri Layne, 33, were the last team to check in on the Dubai leg of The Amazing Race 15. But another race began when the competitive lawyer and finance manager got home to Massachusetts with just two weeks left to plan their wedding. --Carrie Bell In Sunday's episode, you claimed you were racing worse than any other team in the show's history. Looking back, is that true? Lance: Probably not the worst of all time. We blew the driving. Bottom line is we just couldn't navigate Dubai. Keri: We hadn't slept in a very, very long time. In hindsight, we should have got directions; then found the car. Everything was moving so fast. But even when you got directions, the exits were often spelled differently. The language was so different. Lance: We should have stuck with the group. Once the caravan left,...

The remaining eight teams on The Amazing Race bid farewell to Asia but not to the heat, duking it out this week in the Dubai desert and establishing five more rules for the road. --Carrie Bell 1. Brush up on geography. The clue vaguely instructed teams to fly to the Persian Gulf and find the world's tallest building (the still under-constriction Burj Dubai). Miss America was the only one who knew where to go off the top of her head. Lucky for the gay brothers, who were confused by the broad location details and asked the ticket booker for a flight to the Gulf, Mr. America was kind enough to share that information. Others headed to Internet cafes where they figured out the destination but wasted time unable to secure tickets online. 2. Be prepared for extremes. It was so sticky in the Middle East that the lens fogged up and it...

First of all, there's nothing wrong with doing good deeds to other teams in the middle of The Amazing Race. It's happened time and time again. There are the alliances (of sorts, since I don't think that exists in the show) and there are the people you do good to because you just plain like them. Crushes, yup.
And then there was last night's episode, where I saw an unusually high number of good deeds being done. I did list it down, right? Tiffany helped with a ladle during the Roadblock. The Globetrotters warned of a really cold ski resort (although admittedly, Mika and Canaan should know that). Sam and Dan staying behind when the poker players' car started leaking. And then there's Brian, who helped from the airport to the desert to the ski resort, all in a belief that karma will pay them back with good tidings--which happened,...

The only engaged couple on "The Amazing Race" this season has been kicked out of the competition after arriving last in the fifth leg. On Sunday, October 18 night episode, viewers witnessed Lance and Keri getting lost in Dubai although all teams started at the same point at the same time.
All the eight remaining teams embarked on the same plane from Cambodia to United Arab Emirates. They were quickly directed to an under-construction hotel which is expected to be the world's tallest building. Teams were to grab the clue from a balcony and head back downstairs. While others drove to Desert Reserve to perform their first challenge of the day, Meghan and Cheyne chose to do the season's first Fast Forward.
One member of the team who chose Fast Forward must complete a race track at Dubai Autodrome in 45 seconds or less. Cheyne completed the race with no difficulty and...

Best friends Zev Glassenberg, 26, and Justin Kanew, 20, made a dramatic comeback from last place to first on the fifth leg of The Amazing Race only to realize at the pit stop that they'd misplaced a passport—an automatic disqualification on the world traveling game show. 'Team Special' talked with People about Dq depression, raising awareness about Asperger syndrome and a possible future calling in either public speaking or duck whispering for the currently unemployed Zev. —Carrie Bell Walk readers through what happened after elimination. Did you ever find the passport? Justin: We went across the street to the embassy and someone had turned it in. When they told us where it was [found], we realized what happened. I had the passport in my fanny pack when we went to the monkey dance place. They didn't show it but at first we had gone incorrectly inside the monastery. It was really...

One more team was eliminated last night on "The Amazing Race", all due to one crucial mistake, losing the passport. Friends Zev and Justin got the irony when they were leading the race at number one and went straight to the last place after Zev lost his passport along the way. The document is one important factor to commence with the race and without it, the team has to be disqualified.
The nine remaining teams made their flight from Vietnam to Cambodia this week with all of them getting on the same plane. The first clue was given in the form of a photo of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Teams must find a hotel suite named after the celebrity whom many surprisingly didn't recognize. Then came the Detour, Cover and Wrap. In the former they could sell helmets on the street while in the latter they could go to a market...

Sunday's episode of The Amazing Race had its contestants running and sweating around Vietnam’s crowded Ho Chi Minh City. Some teams are getting used to the frenetic pace and working well together while others are already starting to come apart at the seams. Too bad they didn’t have our rules with them. --Carrie Bell 1. Get your bearings: For the first time, the pit stop was not stationary. Overnight, the boat sailed to an undisclosed city and the clue didn’t tell teams that the water puppet theater they were looking for was two hours away by car. The Massachusetts Almost-Marrieds (Lance and Keri) fell behind when they assumed the theater must be around the corner and wandered the streets. The teams that asked locals for help immediately got a head start. 2. Puppets are immune to feminine charms: Grabbing the clue from wily dragons’ mouths proved more difficult than...

This week on "The Amazing Race", the remaining teams embarked from a literally moving pit stop. The leg started from Vietnam's Mekong Delta, where all the contestants were inside a local boat and they were heading to a city called My Tho. Gary and Matt were first to depart and they were instructed to go to Ho Chi Minh City where they should find a puppet theater.
The teams quickly called a cab to reach the destination except for Lance and Keri who had an argument first whether or not they were already in Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival, teams had to grab a flag containing their next clue from the mouth of a dragon puppet bobbing on water. The clue directed them to a local post office.
In the Detour round, they had to choose between Child's Play or Word Play. In the former, teams must move an animal...
