Today, we're talking to actor Sean Patrick Doyle who sings the title song in The Boxtrolls in that great scene when Madame Frou-Frou takes the stage. Sir Ben Kingsley is the voice of Archibald Snatcher / Madame Frou-Frou so Sean Patrick makes like a modern day Marni Nixon.
Nathaniel: What is that process of "voice matching" and how did you get the part - it's so different from your other credits.

Exclusive: Writer/director Troy Duffy, most famous for making a big Boondock Saints spec deal with Harvey Weinstein that was supposed to include purchase of the La bar where Duffy poured drinks, is back in the mix with deals for both film and TV projects. On the small screen, Duffy has teamed with producers Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen and set up Kingdom Come with Sony Television. The proposed series focuses on Capt. Jean Lafitte, the early 19th century pirate who built the largest smuggling operation on U.S. soil and controlled New Orleans and all the goods that traveled the Mississippi River. He went from outlaw to patriot when he and his crew defended New Orleans against the British in the War of 1812, for which he and his pirate cohorts received full pardons for past misdeeds, but were whitewashed from history by Andrew Jackson. Duffy also made a...

More animated kid-friendly horrors are headed our way, and we're super happy that budding gorehounds will have plenty of cool things to cut their teeth on. Just think... after a few viewings of this and stuff like Monster House and even Igor, you can go right to Evil Dead!
According to Deadline, British Columbia-based film production and finance group Bron Studios is launching Bron Animation to develop and produce original kids animated fare for television and films. The aim is an “emphasis on absurd comedy with an edgy tone that parents will also enjoy”. The first project in production is a pair of TV specials based on Mighty Mighty Monsters, the Sean Patrick O’Reilly book series.
The books revolve around a group of classic movie monster kids — Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolfman — who are expelled from monster school and sent to a human immersion program at a “normal” human middle school.

Continuing the tradition of movie studios teaming up with comics companies to create properties that can be turned into movies (see: Disney/Marvel, WB/DC, Universal/Dark Horse, Legendary/Legendary, etc./etc.) we have the latest entry…
Benderspink and Sean Patrick O’Reilly’s Arcana Comics are launching ArcanaBenderspink Comics, a label that will publish under the Arcana brand. The idea: hatch comics that can be turned into movie and TV properties. The partnership comes out of Jc Spink and Sean O’Reilly’s strong relationship after setting up the Arcana comic book Continuum at New Line. “What I thought made this a great partnership was that Sean not only knows how to make a great comic but he’s actually produced movies,” Spink said. “I don’t know any comic publishers that have his producing experience.” Benderspink partner Jake Weiner said that the comics label is a byproduct of...

Maggie Burnette Stogner made four short documentary films that will be exhibited as Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology through her company Blue Bear Films at the Montreal Science Center until September 18th.
LucasFilm Ltd. and National Geographic are also involved in this exhibit, which Fred Hiebert, Senior Archaeology Fellow at National Geographic/Big Nerd, and Co-Curator of the Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology exhibition says is about "'Real Indiana Joneses' -- archaeologists in the field who bring the passion and importance of new discoveries to the general public. These films give me goose bumps of excitement every time I see them -- wow!"
"The documentary films we produced," says Stogner herself, "which appear within this new traveling exhibition, meld the fantasy of those inspiring Indiana Jones movies with the exciting world of real life archaeology."

The Saw series comes to an end with this final entry (or so it is billed). This time around they added 3D ballyhoo to Jigsaw and his gruesome traps. However, this seventh entry started to show the seams in the long running torture trip. It would be near impossible to give a plot description without spoiling something from Saws 1-6 so you.ve been warned. Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) is still dead but his accomplice Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) barely escapes a trap set by Jigsaw.s widow Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell). Jill escapes and goes to Det. Matt Gibson (Chad Donella) to testify against Hoffman if she.s granted full immunity and police protection. Around town, Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick...

Chicago – The first “Boondock Saints” was so over-the-top that its abundance of style actually became substance. While I certainly don’t bow to the film like so many of its devoted fans, I totally get the obsession with it that led to a surprising sequel and even a comic book. The movie is fun. And that’s where the sequel fails. “Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” is bloated and boring, missing the spark that made the first a surprising cult hit.
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.5/5.0
The relatively simple script for “Boondock Saints” was one of the main reasons it worked. The Tarantino-esque structure of a lawman (Willem Dafoe) retracing the steps of two vigilante killers largely through slow-motion flashback wasn’t perfect but it was fun and structurally clever.
Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 9th, 2010.
