Welcome to this review of Aew’s Full Gear, which looks to be yet another huge pay-per-view for All Elite Wrestling – with plenty of title matches, including both the women’s And men’s titles on the line. The Zero Hour portion of the show kicked off proceedings with a few pre-ppv matches, so let’s see what went down!
Zero Hour Match #1: Roh World Championship Match – Eddie Kingston def. Jay Lethal The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Kingston clotheslined Lethal over the top rope, sending Lethal crashing onto the arena floor. Back in the ring they traded stiff chops. Lethal pulled Kingston out of the ring and sent the champ headfirst into the steel ring post. Lethal took Kingston down with a snap suplex. Lethal followed up with a beautiful overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Lethal executed the Lethal Combination. Kingston countered the Lethal Injection with a suplex. Karen Jarrett...

As promised, the pro wrestling company Aew delivered the first ever “Texas Chain Saw Massacre Death Match” live on TBS last night, a cross promotion with Gun Interactive’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game that pit Jeff Hardy up against Jeff Jarrett in a match uniquely themed after the multiplayer horror game that releases tomorrow (August 18).
We went into last night’s show having absolutely no idea what the hell a “Texas Chain Saw Massacre Death Match” even is, and now that we’ve seen it, well, we’re still not quite sure.
The “match” began in the backstage area, with Hardy and Jarrett – plus a whole bunch of other interfering wrestlers – beating each other up. Despite the commentary team doing their best to sell the backstage brawl as a spectacle the likes of which they’d never seen before, it was mostly like any other backstage fight we...

Steve Austin’s WWE interviews have, at times, been a mixed bag, but most of them have offered some unique insights and entertaining moments, especially those with Vince McMahon, Triple H, The Undertaker and this one, with Kurt Angle.
Angle has had one hell of a career, both as an Olympic wrestler and a pro-wrestler, and Steve Austin, in his humanistic and working-man manner, speaks with his former opponent and peer about that career, the ups and downs he’s experienced in his personal life, and all in-between. It’s a long, riveting interview that feels honest and open, but manages to keep things light enough at times so as not to be overly dark. Kurt talks with a matter of factness that goes a long way to making him appear likeable and changed from his years as a man struggling with so-called “demons”.

This week’s Impact Wrestling had a lot to answer for after last week’s shocking revelation that Karen and Jeff Jarrett were the masterminds behind the recent chaos in Tna. Though this storyline is evidently going to be slow-bled for a while (possibly leading to a huge showdown at Bound for Glory?), the wheels sure got turning this week, with a number of bizarre and unexpected moments leading the way.
As usual, fans had terrible signs and EC3 cut a promo you won’t soon forget, while Jeff Hardy made a career change for the foreseeable future, and a number of Tna talents showed up to reminder you that, yes, they are still employed by the company. Sure, Josh Matthews continued to lie about Impact trending worldwide and he had to shill more lame Destination America shows, but hey, he didn’t embarrass himself as much as usual this week,...

Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling continues to generate headlines in the wrestling world, but not all news is good news. Reports are now coming in that things are moving much slower than anticipated for the upstart company. While things continue to chug along, it’s not at a pace that company officials would like.
Just yesterday, Gfw announced further co-promotional deals, this time with a wealth of companies in Australia and New Zealand. These new promotions have been added to a long list of partners that includes various European promotions, Aaa in Mexico, and New Japan Pro Wrestling. While all of these agreements are great steps forward for the new global brand, there has not been much news from the company beyond the partnerships.
Reportedly, negotiations for a future television deal and home are ongoing. However, the company and its officials were hoping to have landed a contract by this time already.

For weeks leading up to April 7th of this year, Jeff Jarrett teased a major announcement that would shake the foundation of the wrestling world. On that date, he delivered by announcing the founding and imminent debut of a new sports entertainment entity — Global Force Wrestling.
The promotion has yet to hold a show or announce any sort of television deal, but has announced numerous partnerships — a creative alliance with David Broome (the mind behind NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”), the involvement of Nascar’s Hermie Sadler, and talent exchange programs with both Aaa in Mexico and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
It seems that Global Force Wrestling is off to a strong start at the hands of Jeff and his wife Karen Jarrett. However, the initial announcement only took place a little over three months ago. Since that time, things have been a bit of a slow burn, and understandably so,...

Jeff Jarrett was involved in a physical altercation with 17 year old John Calvin last night, according to the Examiner. Calvin is the son of Iwa – Mid South promoter Ian Rotten.
The dispute stems from Rotten wanting to pay Jarrett what he was owed in “two to three days” as opposed to on the night. The report states Jarrett was enraged, he cursed out the locker room, before either slapping Rotten’s son or stealing his glasses and threatening to break them. Karen Jarrett was reportedly egging Jeff on and both appeared to be intoxicated.
Ian Rotten has since stated on his official Facebook page that he will pay Jarrett but then immediately intends to contact the sheriff over assault on a minor. He also described Jarrett as “Some paranoid coked out raging idiot. Not saying he Was coked out, but I will say he was drunk.”
This is all very embarrassing for Jarrett,...

The Wrestling Observer reported last week that Kurt Angle could be bound for Jeff Jarrett’s new pro-wrestling group. Angle’s contract with Tna expires later this year and both parties are likely to be keen on parting ways. Tna is cutting costs and the usually loyal Angle has sounded off about potentially leaving.
However, despite previously held assumptions about Angle going back to WWE, the rumours within Tna are that Angle could be the headline act of Jeff Jarrett’s new group. Jarrett will announce details of the group the day after WrestleMania, but presumably he won’t be able to confirm Angle until his Tna contract is up. Although Kurt has had issues with Jeff in the past (Karen Jarrett is Kurt’s ex-wife) they are now on very good terms. In contrast, the Observer report stated “There is a...

Back from a short hiatus with this Impact recap and Tonight Sting has given us a World Heavyweight Title Rematch to open the show!
Tna World Title Match
Five Minute Overtime Rematch from Final Resolution
Aj Styles vs. Robert Roode (Champion)
Is it just me or does everyone’s entrance in Tna start with that tilted camera long shot? Here’s our five minutes on the clock and Roode immediately tries to run down the clock by getting out of there. Styles follows him out and rolls him back in, covering him with a cross body. Hard whips and a back body drop. This match is One fall, not Iron Man like at the PPV. They exchange side headlocks and kick outs. Aj Rolls him up for two. We’re at three minutes left and Roode wants a time out. Ref for some reason holds Aj back,...

Last week, James Storm blamed everyone for jumping him, including Aj Styles. But in the end it was Kurt Angle returning and taking the credit for the attack. Felt the need to explain that since I didn’t do the results last week.
In the arena, Kurt Angle is on his way to the ring. Kurt says he didn’t attack Storm from behind, Storm just didn’t see him coming. He has cat like reflexes you see. Not surprisingly, Storm comes out to respond. Storm talks about how this has gone beyond personal, its now business. What… isn’t it normally bad when it’s the other way around? Kurt claims Storm screwed him out of his title. Storm wants to fight instead, and so takes a swig of beer. Angle says he doesn’t want to fight but he knows a few who do,...

First we recap Roode smashing a bottle over Storm to take his world title from him, with further emphasis on the spit and some epic music just to emphasise the heel turn. Then we are in Georgia for Impact Wrestling. And Robert Roode is first out with his new World Title and music that proclaims him to be off the chain. He says that each and every one of us would have done what he did. He tells us this is a generation of selfishness and he is the leader. Doing things the right way in society today gets you nowhere. In a picture in picture shot we see James Storm at the Gorilla position watching, then getting stopped by security when he tries to come out. That’S interesting, I like that. Finally wrestling addresses the question “Why do they only interrupt after letting them speak for ten minutes.

Hot off the heels of disappointing/predictable/weird Bound For Glory, we are back in Florida for Impact Wrestling this week. First we get a video to remind us that Hogan turned face and joined Sting, then in the arena Sting himself is on the way to the ring. Sting is happy that he got the company back to Dixie, and that he got the real Hulk Hogan back. The explanation for turning face should be a good one, right? Sting brings out Hogan and he’s all smiles and in classic red and yellow. Hogan says for the last year he’s been wrong. That was a very sudden realisation. Hogan explains that he had a few bad years, lost a bit of confidence and became a follower of Bischoff rather than a leader. There’s only one person to thank he says. And its Sting.

Tna Bound For Glory 2011
October 16th, Live from Philadelphia
Obligatory shot of the Liberty Bell and of course Rocky before we move into the Bound For Glory hype video. Then we are listening to Stain’d (for the first time since 2001 if you’re anything like me) as we go Live into the arena. You’d think for their biggest show of the year they’d have some pyro.
X Division Title
Brian Kendrick vs. Austin Aries
Lockup, the crowd strongly behind Austin Aries for some reason. We are in Philly tonight, the crowd could be interesting. Kendrick hip toss and a side head lock take over or three. Austin gets out of each one with an easy head scissors. Kendrick dropkicks him outside, where Aries decides he needs a time out. Of course Kendrick cant resist a vaulting cross body block. I can understand them cheering who they want.

Recap Sting and Ric Flair having the worst match ever, then Hogan beating down Sting unconvincingly. This is what you would call a “hype” video. But no amount of hype can save where this storyline is going. In the arena here comes the “Insane Icon” Sting in a Hogan t-shirt carrying a clipboard. Which in wrestling either means contract or petition. This time it seems to be a contract as he wants Hogan to the ring. Hogan obliges. Hogan/Flair/Sting. Its like watching WCW in the mid 90s. Hogan says hes not clear to wrestle. Sting shows footage of Hogan beating him down which contradicts that statement. Sting wants to get it on right now but Hogan doesn’t. Instead bring out another mid 90s staple in Eric Bischoff. Sting ignores him completely then decks him.
Backstage, Karen Jarrett is telling a selection of Knockouts about their match tonight.
