The Krampus is the anti-Santa Claus, a wicked beast from the folklore of the Alpine countries of Europe who loves to swat children who have misbehaved at Christmas with his bundle of birch sticks and rusty chains before dragging them in baskets to the underworld. Krampus is celebrated on Krampusnacht, which takes place on the eve of St. Nicholas’ Day. In parts of Europe, party-goers masquerade as devils, wild-men, and witches to participate in Krampuslauf (Krampus Run). Intoxicated and bearing torches, costumed devils caper and carouse through the streets terrifying children and adults alike. Krampusnacht is increasingly being celebrated in other parts of Europe as well as in many American cities, and next weekend the Krampus will be coming to St. Louis!
The Krampus Research Association of St. Louis will be throwing an event this Saturday, July 26th called Krampus in July – an Evening of Naughty Fun for Bad Little Boys and Girls!

Kanye West is being sued for allegedly using unlicensed samples in his music, yet again.
TMZ reports that the children of a deceased musician named David Pryor has filed a lawsuit against the 35-year-old rapper, alleging that he sampled a very small part of the song "Bumpin' Bus Stop," which Pryor wrote and sang with his band Thunder & Lightning in 1974.
Pryor's children, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, claim that 13 seconds into Kanye's 2005 smash hit "Gold Digger," is a lyric sampled from Pryor's song. The three are alleging that if you listen carefully, you can hear Pryor singing "Get Down" three times, echoing West singing, "Get down girl, go head, get down."
The pair, who each own one-quarter of the song, have asked a judge to stop the sale of the song and provide them with, "millions of dollars" in damages for the allegedly unlicensed sample.

As FEARnet wandered the aisles of Toy Fair this weekend in New York City, we found a bit of a trend we were thrilled to see. No, it’s not the Legos for girls (what?) or the female empowerment Nerf archery set that allows you to accessorize (really?). We actually picked up on the non pandering trend of horror-themed collectibles for females that don’t make you want to throw things in anger. It seems like the companies producing horror-oriented toys and collectibles actually get that having estrogen doesn’t mean you can’t want a dark edge to your girl-skewing products.

Julie Andrews in Austria: hardly an unfamiliar sight, both in movie history and now on New Year's Day.
The Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winner filmed one of her most famous roles in that country, Maria in the 1965 screen classic "The Sound of Music." Along with her elegant and cultured image, that made her a natural to succeed the late Walter Cronkite as host of PBS' traditional "Great Performances" broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic's holiday concert, and she'll fill that role for the fourth time when "From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 2013" airs Tuesday, Jan. 1 (check local listings).
"I love doing it," the ever-gracious Andrews tells Zap2it. "The PBS people are very nice, they do this with class and style, and we do something different every year. It's always a learning curve for me, going to new places and finding out about them. And of course, the music is lovely.

Julie Andrews has no designs on replacing Santa Claus as a symbol of the holiday season, but she's giving him a good race anyway.
That's reaffirmed by the veteran talent's current television appearances. This weekend alone, she'll be present vocally in "Shrek 2" on MoreMax (Friday, Nov. 30) and "Shrek Forever After" on FX (Saturday, Dec. 1), and she'll be both seen and heard in "Eloise at Christmastime" on Hallmark Channel (Sunday, Dec. 2).
And that's hardly all: ABC Family ran Andrews' Oscar-winning performance in Disney's "Mary Poppins" over Thanksgiving weekend, and the channel also will feature her voice in the animated "Despicable Me" (Saturday, Dec. 8) and her presence in the two "Princess Diaries" movies (Friday, Dec. 28). And ABC again airs her much-beloved work in "The Sound of Music" Sunday, Dec. 23.

Kanye West is being sued yet again. This time around, record label TufAmerica is taking Yeezy to court for allegedly using illegal samples of material it owns on 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The label claims that part of Eddie Bo’s 1969 song “Hook And Sling, Part 1” shows up on three of the record’s songs: “Who Will Survive In America,” “Lost In The World,” and “Runaway.” While West’s label, Roc-a-Fella, paid a $62,500 licensing fee, TufAmerica claims that was only for the sample’s use in “Runaway,” not the two other tracks. Forget the Throne. Kanye West is on the legal hot seat. The "Gold Digger" rapper is on the receiving end of a copyright infringement suit filed by a New York label that's accused him of swiping snippets of their 1969 tune "Hook and Sling, Part 1," by New Orleans singer-pianist Eddie Bo, used in two tracks off West's 2010 multiplatinum-selling album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In the lawsuit filed in federal court in Manhattan, a copy of which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, TufAmerica claims the hitmaker's label, Roc-a-Fella, and parent Universal Music Group paid a license fee of $62,500 for the right to sample "Hook and Sling" for West's songs "Who Will...

A New York label is suing Kanye West, claiming the Grammy-winning rapper illegally used portions of a 1969 song by New Orleans legend Eddie Bo on his No. 1 2010 album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In its complaint, TufAmerica says two tracks on "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" -- "Who Will Survive in America?" and "Lost in the World" -- include a bit of "Hook and Sling, Part 1" by Eddie Bo, which TufAmerica says it bought the rights to more than 15 years ago.
TufAmerica claims West's label Roc-a-Fella paid a license fee of $62,500, but "failed and refused to enter into written license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of ['Hook and Sling']." The label is seeking undisclosed damages for copyright infringement.

An anti-profanity group has asked ABC to pull Wednesday's (Jan. 18) "Modern Family" because toddler Lily says a bad word in the episode.
The No Cussing Club, a group founded in 2007 by then-high school student McKay Hatch, sent its request to ABC on Tuesday. The network is going ahead with the episode, titled "Little Bo Bleep," but hasn't commented on the protest.
In the episode, Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) learns a new word that rhymes with "duck," horrifying her dads Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson). The story is mostly about how Cam and Mitchell deal with Lily's outburst, which is something co-creator Steve Levitan says "as parents, we've all been through."
"ABC will tell you 'Modern Family' gets away with a lot, because I think it's all about context," Levitan tells EW. "We are not a sexually charged show. It has a very warm tone, so people accept it more.

On next week’s Modern Family, toddler Lily is going to use one of the worst of George Carlin’s famous Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.
The adopted two-and-a-half year-old character somehow picks up the profanity “f—.” This naturally horrifies her parents, Cam and Mitchell, who in particular fear she’ll blurt it at an upcoming wedding. Lily is shown saying the word, but it’s not audible to the viewer. The episode’s title: “Little Bo Bleep.”
It might be the first time in a scripted family broadcast TV series where a child has said the F-word.

"Dancing with the Stars" alumni Kelly Monaco and Melanie Brown have signed on to star in "Peepshow," an adult theatrical extravaganza that was created by Jerry Mitchell, the director and choreographer of Broadway's "Legally Blonde: The Musical." Both of them are set to star in the show for several months, beginning on April 18 next year.
Kelly is billed to play the character of "Little Bo Peep," a timid and lonely girl who is guided by Melanie's character, "Peep Diva." It's very sexy, very spicy and it's all about empowering women, so [it has] all these different journeys and routines that I take her on."
However, neither Kelly nor Melanie will be topless, but the showgirls surrounding them will be.
