At VidCon, YouTube contortionist Sofie Dossi -- who rose to fame for her circus-inspired performances on America’s Got Talent and who has subsequently established a sizable presence on YouTube, with 4.1 million subscribers -- launched her own athletic-wear line, dubbed Fire Lily.
The brand -- which vends leggings, sports bra sets, cropped tees, jackets, and more -- sold out entirely at its VidCon booth, according to Dossi’s reps. And a forthcoming Signature Collection, presumably consisting of Dossi’s essentials, will launch on the Fire Lily website in coming weeks. Right now, roughly 26 items are available for sale, ranging in price from $30 for a cropped T-shirt to $80 for a jacket. Tees bear monikers like 'Bend The Limits' and 'Daredevil', while some leggings and bras feature a snakeskin print.

Officially Pinned was founded last spring by digital vet Max Benator and the Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Shuta. The company has since collaborated with 16 YouTubers to vend their own enamel pins, including Shane Dawson, Eva Gutowski, ASAPScience, Justine Ezarik, Kingsley, and Nikita Dragun.
The pin purveyor has created a total of 34 designs to date -- including Dawson sipping on root beer and a pink iPhone touting Ezarik’s ‘iJustine’ channel moniker -- and is ramping up its output with 10 launches slated to arrive in the next month alone. For those uninitiated to Disney pin trading, it’s a fascinating hobby with a cult following that the media giant has officially endorsed since 1999.
Collectors can purchase limited edition lapel pins -- of which there are more than 100,000 featuring popular Disney characters, attractions, and movies -- at parks across the globe, or online. Then, when visiting Disney resorts, collectors can approach staffers wearing specially-designated lanyards with their own collections affixed to propose a trade. If a guest proposes a trade, the Disney employee usually has to accept it -- and certain rare pins can command top dollar, re-selling for thousands of dollars on eBay and the like.
Today, a startup in the digital media sphere called Officially Pinned is seeking to replicate pin trading culture for devotees of the world’s biggest YouTube stars. Officially Pinned is the brainchild of Supergravity Pictures co-founder Max Benator and noted talent manager Sarah Weichel,...

The ambitious entertainment company that snapped up FilmBuff last year has bought the content creator launched in 2014 by Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt.
The deal — financial terms were not disclosed — follows a strategic investment by Gunpowder & Sky in Supergravity in July 2015 in which the former took an equity stake and struck a feature co-production partnership.
The companies are working together on horror project Skate Or Die as well as Team Nocuous, a series about the world of competitive video gaming in conjunction with the Fine Brothers, Mad Cow Productions and Third String Kicker.
Benator and Hustvedt will segue from executive roles into a producing capacity across a number of existing projects.
“Since making the investment, Supergravity has made great progress; building the team, developing, selling and producing more series and films, and launching Antigravity, their marketing arm,” said Gunpowder & Sky president and former Endemol executive Floris Bauer (pictured), who co-founded the company with former MTV executive and Viacom...

Supergravity, which is known for producing, marketing and distributing feature films headlined by digital stars -- including Kian Lawley’s The Chosen -- has announced its foray into the talent management business with the formation of a new firm called Red Sun Entertainment. Red Sun will be focused on digitally-native creators, and will be led by founding partner Evan Weiss, alongside Supergravity co-founders Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt -- who is also a Tubefilter co-founder.

Supergravity Pictures, which produces, markets and distributes feature-length films, has greenlit its next project. And while many of the company’s past efforts have showcased digital media stars, its latest, Rock Steady Row, holds the distinction of being helmed by 24-year-old first-time feature director Trevor Stevens.
Rock Steady Row tells the story of a college freshman who “is compelled to take action against the reigning fraternities and ultimately the dean when his bike is stolen,” according to the company. Bomani J. Story, who conceived the film alongside Stevens, wrote the script.
“Imagine Kung Fu Hustle intermingled with A Fistul of Dollars and a sprinkling of Pcu,” said Supergravity co-founder Max Benator in a statement. “That’s this film. And in Trevor’s hands, there’s no doubt it will be something special.”

In July, Supergravity Films brought The Chosen, a horror-thriller feature film led by social media star Kian Lawley, to Vimeo On Demand. A little more than a month later, the movie came to iTunes, which it ultimately rose to the top of the horror charts. Now, The Chosen is moving on to its next distribution platform: It has arrived on Netflix.
The Chosen’s availability on Netflix was secured thanks to a deal between Supergravity and the streaming video platform. The horror flick joins several other films led by YouTube stars that can also be viewed on Netflix. Camp Takota, starring Mamrie Hart, Hannah Hart, and Grace Helbig, is on there, as is Cameron Dallas vehicle Expelled.
Both Camp Takota and Expelled delivered strong sales through on-demand platforms before arriving on Netflix, and The Chosen is no different. Its rise to the top of the iTunes horror charts demonstrates the appeal of its young star.

As it looks to bring online video stars into the film industry, Supergravity Pictures is moving into the world of comedy. Its newest project is a stand-up special that will feature the comedic stylings of former SourceFed host Elliott Morgan.
The special, which is currently untitled, will begin production shortly. Supergravity, which has also worked with YouTube stars like Kian Lawley and Kevin Wu on film projects, will handle financing, production, and distribution. As a press release puts it, Morgan “will tell the jokes.”
Supergravity was co-founded in 2014 by Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt. Hustvedt (who, full disclosure, is a co-founder of Tubefilter) has experience with comedy specials, having produced Maria Bamford’s Special special special! back in 2012. “Elliott has always been one of the funniest and smartest people on the Internet,” said Hustvedt in the release. “We're excited to partner with Elliott to make his first comedy special unique,...

Supergravity Pictures is having a big VidCon weekend. The day before the debut of the feature film studio’s second movie, The Chosen, it has announced a strategic investment from Otter Media, the joint venture launched by The Chernin Group and At&T.
Otter Media, which also owns a controlling stake in top multi-channel YouTube network Fullscreen, will support Supergravity as the studio looks to expand its team and secure additional film deals. The investment will include a co-production partnership, through which we can assume Supergravity will work closely with the Fullscreen Films division, which has produced movies like #O2LForever.
Supergravity’s current lineup includes Man Up, which arrived on Vimeo On Demand in May, and The Chosen, which stars digital media star Kian Lawley. It’s upcoming projects include a documentary produced in partnership with Ray William Johnson.

Yesterday, we shared a profile of Sawyer Hartman, who is using Vimeo On Demand to distribute his upcoming project Parallax Theory. Hartman is one of several guests who will participate in regular sessions at the Vimeo Studio during VidCon. The day after his event at Vimeo’s space, the two founders of Supergravity Pictures--Marc Hustvedt and Max Benator--will stop by to talk about their work converting digital video stars into feature film leads.
Supergravity, which launched in 2014, already has several films on its docket, including Kian Lawley vehicle The Chosen, which will premiere adjacent to VidCon. As Supergravity builds out its library, it is working closely with Vimeo On Demand, with which it struck a four-film deal this past January. We spoke to Benator about Supergravity’s plans, its partnership with Vimeo, and the increasing intertwined media landscape.

Kian Lawley is getting his fans excited for his first feature film. The former member of the now-disbanded YouTube supergroup O2L released the official trailer for the horror flick The Chosen on his YouTube channel on June 24, 2015.
In The Chosen, Lawley plays Cameron, a young man who must decide to end the lives of six family members to save his niece, who’s been possessed by a child-snatching demon. The Chosen co-stars Mykayla Sohn and Elizabeth Keener, is produced by Terror Films and Supergravity Pictures, the film studio created by Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt for features starring YouTubers.
Lawley, who boasts over 2.7 million subscribers on his channel (and now has 1.3 million on his joint channel with Jc Caylen) originally released an exclusive teaser trailer for The Chosen at an event during Playlist Live back in February 2015. And this isn’t the first time Lawley has been involved with a feature film.

Ray William Johnson has ceased hosting duties on his =3 web series, but the 33-year-old web personality still has a vested interest in the online video industry. The currently untitled documentary, which will be co-produced by Johnson, Kaja Martin, and Supergravity founders Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt, "will bitingly and hilariously shed light on the closeddoor machinations that granted cable companies their horrendous monopolies and the reality that history is repeating itself as the internet falls prey to the same monopolistic, big media practices," according to a press release. “We are excited to blend Lakeshore’s knowledge and skills gained from its 20-year track record of traditional film-making and distribution with the new world of digital influencers,” said CFO Marc Reid. “We think each world can elevate the other.”
The first film is Kinetic Films’ Man Up from and starring Justin Chon with Us comedian and YouTube celebrity Kevin Wu (pictured) aka KevJumba.

Kian Lawley is about to be YouTube’s latest movie star. Elliott Morgan played host for the evening’s brief event, introducing Lawley and co-star Mykayla Sohn before the pair introduced the worldwide premiere of The Chosen trailer and previewed an exclusive scene for the live Playslist attendees. The threesome then talked on stage for a few about the flick, which has an enticing tagline evocative of an old school William Peter Blatty classic spliced together with the relatively recent horror film phenomenon popularized by Hideo Nakata.
