FX’s The Strain was one of the summer’s guiltiest pleasures, an immeasurably silly but still compelling thriller about a group of Cdc scientists attempting to stem the flow of a centuries-old vampire epidemic purposely brought to New York by an ancient evil. And though we’ll have to wait until the summer to see where it goes in season 2, FX is ensuring that we keep The Strain in mind by unveiling a new teaser for the series.
It seems early for the network to be promoting The Strain again, but it did market the first season for many months before its summer premiere as well. There’s not much context to the teaser, though if the show can follow through on the promise of depicting a full-on, bloodsuckers-versus-humans battle in the streets of New York, that will already be a step up on season 1, which only mounted a few truly impressive action sequences.

"Original artwork that doesn't suck" is the motto of artist Miguel Gomez' Etsy shop MitchRobot4, which is packed with artwork that indeed doesn't suck, along with various oddities that also don't suck. In addition to preserved and pickled snakes, frogs and geckos, Miguel also sells a particularly awesome set of zombie nesting dolls, as well as fun and unique pieces of hand-drawn art. But the coolest of the artist's offerings is no doubt his custom made fetuses, which give us a peek inside the bellies of pregnant mama monsters.
Miguel takes custom orders for the creepy creations, and has to date made fetuses of an alien, a baby Cthulhu, the Loch Ness Monster and even a killer clown. According to Del Toro, who spoke to Shock in a one-on-one interview at the Pacific Rim press day, The Strain is "a very expensive pilot and proposal."

Louie, Season 3, Episode 3: “Miami”
Written by Louis C.K.
Directed by Louis C.K.
Airs Thursdays at 10:30pm Et on FX
One of Louie‘s emerging strands over its two-and-a-bit seasons is that it occasionally takes the form of a travelogue. Whether Louie finds himself in Afghanistan (actually a military simulation ground in Texas, but whatever), New Jersey, Alabama, or in this week’s case, Miami, Louie takes pleasure in taking Louie out of his comfort zone and into strange new directions in unfamiliar environments.
For future reference, if you ever want to stay lily-white and not have any idea where a forthcoming season of Louie will take you on a thematic level, you need to avoid watching Ck’s public appearances. One of his late-night promo interviews, with Jay Leno, featured a very funny bit about heterosexual men, and their unique, crippling need to be identified as such; that...

Young Costa Rican writer-director Miguel Gomez made a big impression here at Twitch with his 2010 horror comedy El Sanatorio, a playful riff on the found footage genre. And so we have been closely following the progress of his upcoming end of the world road comedy El Fin (The End) as well.Set on the last day on Earth, with the planet's population fully aware that a giant asteroid is on a collision course with the planet and there is no way out, the film tracks two friends trying to simply finishing things up on a good note. I had the chance to see an in-progress version of the film at the Morbido Festival in Mexico - director Gomez literally went from finishing the initial...

Call Miguel Gomez' El Fin the anti-Melancholia. With his latest work the talented Costa Rican director of El Sanatorio takes a premise virtually identical to that of Lars Von Trier's latest - humanity discovering six months in advance that an asteroid is on a collision course with the earth - and instead of wallowing in misery creates a life affirming buddy comedy that may be a touch raw and a touch sloppy in spots but is absolutely charming throughout. It is also - and this is important - very, very funny. The end begins when Nicolas, a twenty six year old telephone support agent already very depressed due to the sudden death of his parents, returns home one day only to have an meteor fall...

Refer to Miguel Gomez' upcoming The End (El Fin) as Melancholia with a smile and you may not be too far off the mark. Director Miguel Gomez will soon be on hand in Montreal for the North American premiere of his recent horror hit El Sanatorio but being busy presenting that film to audiences around the globe hasn't slowed Gomez down on his other ventures. After completing El Sanatorio Gomez rolled quickly into production on the scifi tinged effort El Fin (The End), a project that he has been working on since his film school days.I made my short film The End in 2004 while at film school, it was shaped as a short version of these characters and story. It´s funny cause 7 years later I´m finishing El Fin and it´s a little different from what I thought at the beginning. At first It was going to...

Costa Rica now has a first-person horror picture to call their own, albeit it one with a distinctly comic angle to it.
Director Miguel Gomez turns in his sophomore feature with El Sanatorio, a film on which he is credited as director, writer, producer and co-editor. And if his IMDb resume is any indicator this is nothing unusual for Gomez, who appears to be highly in demand as an art director and production designer outside of his own films.
The story? It's a familiar one, as these things go, with a group of young adults heading off to a local hospital to try and captured the rumored ghosts that inhabit the place on camera. And that they do with - apparently - somewhat comic results.
For a non-Spanish speaker such as myself the trailer starts slowly, with not a lot to separate it from the crowd until you get to the final shot.
